Moisturizers -Kinerase - Lotion
rated 1 of 5
deangelisv404 4/15/2012 10:35:00 PM

I began using this product about two months ago. I had been using the Kinerase Cream for about six months with no problems, but since the weather was getting warmer, I thought I'd try the lotion as I need a lighter moisturizer through summer. At first I was surprised by the consistency. I thought a lotion would be lighter and easier to work with, but it was more difficult to spread around on my face. After a couple of weeks I noticed that my makeup was not applying as nicely and evenly. My cheeks in particular seemed to become ruddy and redness increased. Most recently (about two months of use), I noticed that the redness started to become small blotches. On other parts of my face, I have now begun to break out. The tone and texture of my skin has definitely changed, and not for the better. I am seriously disappointed in this product. I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin, but I thought this would be a safe product to use. I don't love the Cream enough to drop another $120 (even if it it was winter weather), so I will be looking for a new moisturizer pronto!

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Miracle
rated 3 of 5

Love this foundation! I have been searching (for about a year now) for a new foundation since I decided my Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation just wasn't giving me enough coverage. I have tried all sorts of foundations from Smashbox Healthy FX, Dior Nude, Face Atelier Pro Foundation, Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua, Shiseido Perfect Refining Foundation and...there's more, but I can't remember all of them right now! I found the Smashbox foundations to be too orangey on me, though I loved the formula. I had the same oxidation problem with Dior Nude. Face Atelier was a little difficult for me to work with, it may be better for normal to oily skin types. Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua's formulation is amazing and I thought that was going to be THE one, but it broke me out. I did like Shiseido's Perfect Refining Foundation as well, it is a close second right now and I may give it another try in the winter. Anyway, back to Teint Miracle...like another reviewer has said, it is very comparable to Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua, but I think it is way better since Teint Miracle doesn't break me out or irritate my highly sensitive and acne prone skin! I haven't noticed any fragrance with this foundation either. I love the consistency, not too thick or too runny, and the finish is beautiful...sort of between satin and dewy. It is a very buildable, moderate coverage foundation. It also leaves my skin soft to the touch, not tacky like some foundations can feel on the skin. The foundation lasts a good 6-8 hours, even longer on some days (depending on weather and activity level). There are also a ton of shades to choose from, so most people will be able to find a color that suits them. There is some alcohol in the formulation, but I don't find it to be drying at all. This is definitely the best foundation I have tried in a very long time! *UPDATE* I have found that this foundation oxidizes terribly on me throughout the day. I noticed when my face looked like a completely different color than the rest of my body in pictures! Yuck!

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Jet Set Eyeliner with Brush
rated 5 of 5

I am on my fourth or fifth jar of this eyeliner...and they do last quite a long time. I have been using it nearly every day, for about three years now. I have never had a problem with this eyeliner drying out on me, you just have to be sure to close the top tightly. It doesn't last on the eyes ALL day, but it lasts a good six hours or so (depends on the day, sometimes longer) before it starts to wear. Doesn't irritate my eyes either and makes them stand out beautifully. It's all I use to line my waterline.

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
rated 1 of 5
deangelisv404 4/29/2011 11:53:00 PM

I have bought this mascara 3 or 4 times already. The only thing I do not like is the price, which often drives me to test out other mascaras hoping to find a replacement that works just as well, but I haven't yet. The length you get with this mascara is not extreme and neither is the volume. However, all around it gives you a bit of everything...respectable length, a good amount of volume, decent curl, and makes your lashes look lush and plush. Stays all day, doesn't travel, and doesn't flake. It doesn't make you look like you are wearing falsies, but it does make you look like you have the most beautiful lashes you can get without them! *UPDATE* Did they change the formula?! I bought another tube of what was once a fabulous mascara, but it did NOTHING for my lashes. No volume. No thickening. Barely any length. I couldn't believe it! Will not be purchasing again!

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua
rated 5 of 5
deangelisv404 4/29/2011 11:46:00 PM

I really wanted to like this foundation. Let me start out by saying that it gives the most beautiful and natural finish of any foundation I have ever used. It doesn't have a ton of coverage though, I would say more on the light side of light-medium coverage. The problem I had with this foundation however, is that even though it is supposed to be noncomedogenic, my skin does seem to be reacting to it. The first day I used it I had a large pimple on my chin by the end of the day. I thought that it couldn't have been the foundation though because it's not supposed to break you out! I waited a few days in between and then tried it out again...by the end of the second day I had 3 additional small blemishes on my face (thank goodness they are small!). I do have pretty sensitive skin, so I'm guessing that is playing a role here. It is a beautiful foundation, as long as it works for your skin. UPDATE: After several months, I decided to give this foundation another shot. When I initially tried it several months ago, I also changed my skincare routine around the same time, which I think was causing the problem I was having before. After researching every ingredient, and determining that there is nothing in this foundation that should make me break out, I starting wearing it again. I am SO GLAD I did! I love it. Blemishes that I already had on my face before making the switch have been clearing up much faster since I started using it. It's perfect!

Liquid -Shiseido - Perfect Refining Foundation
rated 5 of 5
deangelisv404 4/17/2011 3:43:00 PM

When this first came out a few months ago, I went to my Shiseido counter at Macy's to get color matched (they have many shades) and grab a sample. I had just bought another foundation (which cost more than the Shiseido) that I wasn't (and still am not) crazy about, and I didn't want to just chuck that one in the garbage, but really wanted to try this out. I love it! I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and this foundation didn't irritate my skin or break me out. I do have dryness here and there and found that it didn't dry out my skin or enhance any dry areas either. I have found that this foundation goes on easily and leaves a very natural finish...the kind of makeup that makes you look like you're not wearing makeup and that you just have flawless skin. Medium coverage, more of a satin finish...neither matte or dewy. It also doesn't oxidize terribly on my skin, which is a problem that I've had with other foundations in the past. Waiting until I am finally finished with my other foundation so that I can make the switch to this one! LOVE.

Mascara -LORAC - Multiplex 3D Lashes Volumizing & Thickening Mascara
rated 4 of 5
deangelisv404 4/13/2011 5:53:00 PM

Got a sample of this mascara with an online order from Sephora and am now considering purchasing! I have tried dozens upon dozens of mascara from high-end (Dior, YSL, Tarte, Smashbox, Lancome, and the list goes on...) to drugstore and this mascara is one of the best if not THE best I have ever tried. It stays on all day and doesn't flake at all. It almost gives too much length (if that is possible), as I prefer volume more than length. Still, I am looking for a new mascara and I want to try Lancome Hypnose Custom Volume next, but if that doesn't do it for me, then this one is it! Love it! EDIT: I changed my rating from a 5 to a 4 since I realized that by having to put several coats of this mascara on to achieve the desired volume, my lashes were a little hard. If you want LENGTH and definition, I would definitely try this out, but for volume (even though that's what this mascara was made for) you may find yourself wanting something with more substance.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Jennifer Aniston
rated 4 of 5

After reading so many not-so-great reviews, I wasn't expecting much from this fragrance...but I was pleasantly surprised! Not sure if it will last through an entire day, but I sprayed it on my wrist earlier this afternoon and it has been about six hours now and it is still going strong. It also passed the boyfriend test. I only gave it four stars because it's supposed to be a "beach" fragrance and I have to say that I don't think it smells like the beach at all. I do find it to have a warm, soft, comforting feeling to it...more sensual than sexy. Definitely worth smelling for yourself!

Moisturizers -Mario Badescu - Control Cream
rated 1 of 5
deangelisv404 3/8/2011 9:54:00 AM

This control cream reduced the redness in my cheeks minimally, and was a bit tacky after I put it on no matter how little I used, which also made applying make-up more challenging. However, I could deal with all that. What I couldn't and cannot deal with is the the tiny red bumps it left all over my cheeks. No breakouts on the forehead, nose, chin...only on my cheeks, only where I had put the control cream! And I have never had breakouts on my cheeks before, maybe one pimple here and there over my lifetime, but nothing like this! It's been two weeks, and they're still there...smaller, and fewer in number, but still present. If I could go back in time, I would never have tried this product! I know that the control cream has worked for many other people...just not for me! If you decide to give it a try, just use caution!

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Nude Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
deangelisv404 2/18/2011 7:02:00 PM

Was so sad this product did not work for me...it gives a beautiful dewy finish on the skin, lasts ALL day, and I feel it really did hydrate my dry skin a bit. However, this foundation oxidized on me so badly...orange! I was never able match it to my skin. Also, I suspect that it caused a break out (I have super sensitive, acne-prone skin), but can't be sure because I tried a new moisturizer around the same time as well. However, if you don't have problem skin, and this doesn't oxidize on you, then you are one lucky girl!

Powders -Smashbox - Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder
rated 5 of 5
deangelisv404 2/18/2011 6:56:00 PM

Love Halo...though I was falling out of love with it after using it for over a year...I forgot what made me love it and so I stopped using it. I began using regular translucent finishing powders to set my makeup. After several weeks I just felt like my skin was missing something, though I wasn't quite sure what. It just looked a little dull. One day I decided to pull out my Halo and try again, and viola! That's what I was missing. It makes my skin just have a beautiful glow, though it is not shimmery at all. It just makes it look healthy and beautiful. It doesn't break me out either and I have sensitive, acne-prone skin. However, I will say that this does not provide much coverage at all and I don't like that they even market it as a foundation because it really is more suitable as a finishing powder unless your skin is completely flawless. Also, there are currently only four color selections, and the shades do run a tad dark. As far as how hydrating it is, I can't say because I have very dry skin (if you have normal skin you may find it hydrating)...but I can say that it doesn't dry out my skin any further, unlike how other setting powders can. If you're looking for a foundation, this is not the best choice, but if you're looking for a setting powder that will give you beautiful, luminous skin then this is a great choice!

Highlighters -TheBalm - Mary-Lou Manizer

Awesome highlighter! Love this product! Gives a beautiful glow to the cheeks, and I also use it to highlight my brow bone and the inner corners of my eyes. Cute packaging too! Will definitely repurchase, but with how much product you get, it will be a while before I will have to!

Masks -Mario Badescu - Healing and Soothing Mask
rated 1 of 5
deangelisv404 2/12/2011 5:41:00 PM

Thankfully I had a sample of this and did not purchase it. I'm guessing this mask must be healing and soothing for some people since it did get many positive reviews, however it was neither healing or soothing for my skin...in fact, it became irritated. After using this (one time, 20 minutes), my skin had dry patches and I broke out all over my cheeks...quite the opposite of healing and soothing! I have tried other products from Mario Badescu and have liked those, but this one was a mistake! If you have dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin like mine, use caution if you would like to try this! Good luck!

Mascara -Mally Beauty - Volumizing Mascara
rated 4 of 5
deangelisv404 2/8/2011 6:55:00 PM

This is a great mascara! It lasts all day and doesn't smudge. I do have to say that the one drawback is that it does flake on occasion, but very minimally. Defines lashes, delivers decent length and great volume! I do use with a mascara base/primer, but I have loved the results and have repurchased two times already!

Mascara -FairyDrops - FAIRYDROPS Mascara
rated 3 of 5
deangelisv404 2/8/2011 6:46:00 PM

I know many people rave about this mascara, but it just didn't do it for me. It does last all day and doesn't budge, flake, or smudge, so if that is a concern for you then you won't have a problem. It does curl a bit and hold a curl nicely. The packaging is also very cute. However, instead of making my lashes look lush, I feel like it makes them look dry and brittle. I do not like the brush/wand because it is very flexible instead of being stiff, so I end up blinking my mascara on; which it gets annoying after doing it over and over to achieve the desired volume. It also makes my lashes stick together, which I don't like. Was hoping this one lived up to the hype, but it didn't for me unfortunately.
