Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo
deadonarrival 10/1/2012 10:35:00 AM
Finally, a dry shampoo that works for me. I have very thick, coase long hair so I only wash it 2-3x a week. Now and then, I try to find a dry shampoo in my travels that soaks up scalp oil and doesn't leave a white residue. Low and behold, I found SG Salon Grafix Invisible Dry Spray Shampoo. The scent is the most mild out of the others that I've tried. It isn't powdery at all. It smells like a light floral scent that doesn't overpower you. This also doesn't leave any resdiue behind even after brushing the hair. Shake the can very very good and give short quicks sprays on the scalp and under the hair around the nape of the neck.

Lips -Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain- Smitten
deadonarrival 9/28/2012 3:50:00 PM
I received this in a swap. These Revlon stains really weren't an interest for me but the shade I received Smitten looked really pretty. As for the formula, I found it to be very balmy and moisturizing so much better than those Cover Girl stains awhile back. As for the shade, it sort of clashes with my skintone. It comes off extremely cool toned bright fuchsia. When the pigment fades and leaves a stain, I much prefer the stain better, it is not as bright and looks better on me. So, when I do wear this, I just blot a few times and it looks nice.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser
deadonarrival 9/24/2012 11:29:00 AM
I'm a long time mua'er and usually don't buy products w/ a low mua rating. However, a youtuber named emilynoel83 raved about it so I decided to get it anyway. I'm glad that I got this cleanser! It just works for my skin. I have oily & dehydrated skin and I deal with some adult acne at times. I'm also prone to breaking out with certain ingredients in cosmetics and skincare. I was going through a bad cycle and had about 8 blemishes on my face. After using this cleanser for two days, all 8 blemishes were gone! No scars were left behind either, not a single trace of a blemish was to be seen. No other cleanser was able to clear up my skin as good as this one and I've tried a lot of cleansers from Lancome to Clean & Clear. The smell of this is amazing and it lathers up very nicely. When I use this cleanser and swipe a cottonball w/ toner on my skin after, nothing is left behind! This cleanser gets off all of my makeup and it is great for post workouts. However, I warn people with normal to dry skin because this cleanser is very drying. I like it for me because it sucks out all of my excess oil leaving me with a fresh matte clean face.

Eyeliner -Jordana - Fabu Liner Liquid Eyeliner Pen
deadonarrival 9/21/2012 2:44:00 PM
Overall, this is a good liquid eyeliner. I feel that this is great for wing newbies like myself. This isn't my first liquid liner but I have to say it is better than the ones I've tried from Palladio, L'Oreal and Revlon. I've tried doing wings with gel liners and I just don't have the skill even with practice. Fabu Liner allows you to apply liner evenly and quickly. The tip on this liner is fine and on the stiff side. I prefer a stiff tip over limp ones because I have better control of the line and it doesn't flop around like a wet noodle. I'm able to do a nice subtle wing every time with liner. The color is a nice dark black, I'm not getting soft black with this like some other reviewers complained about. Also, the fluid flows nice and evenly out of the pen, I've experienced no skipping with this. This liner will stay on my eyes on a cool day perfectly. However, I notice that if I sweat or become too oily, this liner will smudge a bit on the ends. For the price, I think people should try it out and I definitely will be repurchasing this.

Liquid -L'Oreal - True Match Lumi Healthy Luminous Makeup
deadonarrival 9/18/2012 11:54:00 AM
Skin: NC40. Shade Purchased: W6. Result: Decent match, a little too dark and orange. I test drove this foundation at first for 2 hours in the house just watching tv and I liked it. I washed it off and looked forward to wearing it the next day to work. The next day, I applied this foundation and by noon, my skin started to become very itchy. I was too busy to look into the mirror and didn't until around 2pm. I was in shock. I had a bunch of big red itchy hives all over my face. Plus, I looked like an oil slick and half of the foundation melted off making me look blotchy. I thought immediately that this must have Bismuth Oxycloride in it. I made the mistake of not reading the ingredients first. When I went home, sure enough, it contains Bismuth. I will always get a reaction to this ingredient. Overall, this foundation does glide on smoothly and covers surface redness good. It doesn't cover under eye circles or blemishes that well. It does give a nice luminous finish however if you are oily, it will make you an oil slick after hours of wear. it isn't long lasting, it looks fresh and nice for only 3-4 hours. Coverage is sheer to light.

Polishes -Sinful - Slate
deadonarrival 9/17/2012 1:14:00 PM
I love this shade of grey. It is a very cold toned grey with a very slight tough of blue in it. It does contain subtle shimmer to it that is visible in the sunlight. The first coat is very sheer, to get the color on the bottle, you need 2-3 coats. I experienced no streaking and even after 2 days of cleaning, no chips!

Lipstick -Revlon - Cherries In The Snow
deadonarrival 9/17/2012 1:08:00 PM
I have to disagree with the review below that states this red lipstick is not suited for yellow toned skin over 30 people! I'm olive skinned NC40 in MAC and 34 and I think Cherries in the snow looks nice on me. I do have a skintone that is a bit fussy when it comes to reds. I can look very weird or too sallow with the wrong shade. I feel that this is a shade that will pull differently on people. I have olive skin but with very cool toned pigmented lips that have a mauve hue to them. On me, Cherries in the snow looks exactly like a ripe red stawberry. It isn't as rubust as a blood blue based red that I thought it would be. On me, I see a lot of berry in this. I typically look good in berry shades so this lipstick works for me. Sure, it is very bright and needs a little prep to make it nice such as exfoliating the lips first. Also, I dab on a little bit of lip balm first so that the red doesn't fall into the cracks on my lips. I also need to dab and blend in some concealer on my cupids bow area to prevent the color from bleeding into that dip on my skin. But overall, I do love this red and I would rec this to everyone.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Elvive Nutri-Gloss shampoo
deadonarrival 9/17/2012 12:54:00 PM
Well, I must say that I'm absolutely in love with this shampoo!!!!!! Hair Type: Long, very thick, coarse, frizzy, dry and processed. Listen to this, I did some research and had the Frederic Fekkai Glossing shampoo and conditioner in my cart because I use their glossing cream and love it. But, the shampoo alone is $24 so I wasn't too thrilled spending $50 bucks on shampoo and conditioner that "might" work for my hair. I remembered that a mua member recommeded that I try the L'Oreal Elive Nutri-Gloss line so I put back the Fekkai stuff and got the L'Oreal instead. Plus, my wallet was happy considering this shampoo is only $4.99. I purchased the shampoo and conditioner for damaged medium to long hair (pink bottle). I can say this, I noticed a difference during my first shampoo still in the shower! I was rinsing my hair and couldn't believe how silky and detangled my hair felt while wet. From the texture of the conditioner, I was a little let down in the beginning because it was very runny and I assumed it wasn't going to help much. I was wrong, the conditioner works super as well. The scent of this is so pretty, it has a slightly sweet floral scent. When I blowed dried my hair, it was so silky and smooth without the need for a straightening iron...this is very rare for my very thick frizzy hair. The next morning, I was just blown away! From tossing and turning during the night, my hair will always become wavy and frizzy from the friction of hair rubbing on the pillow. But, I noticed for the first time, my hair was still frizz-free and didn't need a run with the iron. In fact, my hair was still so silky that I didn't really need to run a brush through it! I am so so glad that I remembered about mua and went back for this!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Dial NutriSkin Replenishing Hand & Body Lotion Extra Dry
deadonarrival 9/17/2012 10:57:00 AM
Wow, what a great find. I needed a new hand lotion and saw this dial lotion on sale for $1.99 for the 3 oz tube. I love it! It moisturizes without making my skin feel greasy and sticky. On the package, it states that it has shea butter plus bio nutrient complex: omega 3&6, vitamin F, A, C & E plus amino acids. It also states that it moisturizes for 24 hours however I don't think so. I wash my hands often during the day so I do have to reapply. But, it is somewhat long lasting compared to other hand lotions. The smell is soft and powdery like baby lotion. No complaints with this, I would definately repurchase!

Lip Treatments -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Stick
deadonarrival 9/17/2012 10:49:00 AM
I really love this lip balm and I've tried a TON of them! It works wonders on my regularly chapped dry lips. The moisture lasts a long time and I don't get that nasty waxy feel from this. Also, this doesn't leave white balls of residue behind. This balm can be used as a cuticle balm and great for elbows too. The scent is fantastic as well! Plus, this tube is mega huge and looks like a glue stick lol

Lipstick -MAC - Satin Lipstick in Twig
deadonarrival 9/13/2012 12:42:00 PM
I have to agree 100% with the review below by mynameishoney. I too have NC40/42 skin and mauve toned pigmented lips. I often struggle to find an everyday MMBL shade that doesn't make me look too Jersey or too Barbie. Twig is perfection for my needs. Twig is a nice satin finish l/s that is a neutral pink brown. Often, most pink browns pull too red and warm making me look sallow. Twig is simply beautiful and works almost like a default shade, for when I can't decide what to put on I will reach for Twig. Out of the lipsticks that I have tried in this color family, I would have to say NYX B52 is very similar. However B52 leans a bit mauve, not as neautral as Twig.

Hair Styling Tools -Remington - T Studio Heated Clip Setter
deadonarrival 9/13/2012 12:27:00 PM
I purchased this roller set because it has more rollers than most, 20 rollers. Also, I love the pink color and it looked easy to use. My hair is very thick and hits the small of my back. The first time I tried this, I was buzzed on 2 glasses of wine and figured playing with my new hot rollers was a great idea. I just quickly wrapped my hair haphazardly in the rollers, not really paying attention to what I was doing. I did fumble with the clips, they can be slippery suckers. I let them set for 15 mintues and I took them out. My hair was so lovely with volume and soft waves. I was pretty shocked since I wasn't really trying that hard and I had washed my hair that day with no products used. Usually, day old hair curls better for me. Because my hair was clean, the waves didn't really hold for very long and I had flat hair again in a few hours. The second time I used this, I took it more serious and was drinking coffee instead so I was focused. The results were better the second time around. First, I made sure I had day old hair and I lightly sprayed a volume formula hair spray all over before I put the rollers in. I left the rollers in for 20 minutes and the results were more defined curls that lasted about 5 hours before they started to fall. After taking the rollers out, I kind of did a light brushing through them with a vent brush. I liked that my curls were soft but also frizz free. The curls were big and voluminous and natural looking. I got a much different look with this roller set than I would with a curling iron. Also, the clips didn't leave dents in my hair maybe because it is thick. On the Ulta site, I noticed people with fine hair had this common problem. I think if my hair was shorter, my curls would have lasted a bit longer. So, overall I do like this roller set and it was a great deal at $39.99! This roller set is so much easier and faster than if I curled my hair w/ a curling iron. My only complaint is that I wish my hair stayed curled for longer but that isn't the product's fault.

Lip Treatments -Neutrogena - Norwegian Formula Lip Moisturizer SPF 15
deadonarrival 9/13/2012 11:57:00 AM
I'm sad to report that I didn't have a positive experience with this balm and must bring the rating down. I have very dry crinkly lips that sometimes hurt and peel. Unfortunately, this actually made my lips more dry and uncomfortable. Also, after an hour of wear, I noticed some tiny white flaky residue on my lips from this. I find that I'm reaching for this very often to try to replenish my lips but it is not working.

Liquid -Urban Decay - Naked Skin
deadonarrival 9/11/2012 1:35:00 PM
I do really like this foundation however it is not HG status. I must point out that if you have dry skin, this could be problematic for you. I have oily skin that is dehyrated at times which means I can delevop flakes on my cheeks. If I have any flakes, this foundation will really cling on to them causing a bad finish. If my skin is behaving at its normal oily state, this foundation is great for me. Even on my oily skin, this can feel tight after wearing it for a few hours and comes off as a bit drying. I don't need any setting powder or blotting with this even during a hot humid day so this is ideal for me in the summer. The shade selection is incredible. I purchased #6 which is for olive skin warm and I'm NC40 in MAC. As for application, it is best to use fingers. I found that with brushes, this foundation will leave streaks! There is no time for blending with this because it dries super fast. The warmth of your fingers helps the foundation along. I am very happy that this foundation doesn't clog my pores or cause breakouts. As for the packaging, it is nice that it comes with a pump however the tube feels flimsy and light. When I shake the bottle, I can hear rattle sounds in the cap like something is loose. The pump does get stuck on me mid-pump as well. As for the price, meh I don't think it is worth $40. I mean, it is nice but not in the same ballpark as Guerlain and Dior foundations.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Twinks
deadonarrival 9/11/2012 1:17:00 PM
Twinks is my favorite brown shade by MAC. Twinks has a lot of depth to it. It is a brown based shadow with plum and red tones to it and is shimmery. Gorgeous as a v placement shade or simply just applied to the lid for an everyday look. I have olive toned skin and Twinks shows up very pigmented on me. The texture is nice and smooth as well.
