Powder -Lancome - Ageless Minerale Skin-Transforming Mineral Powder Foundation SPF 21

Love, love, love. I've used BE exclusively for approx. 7 years, but I'm switching as soon as I finish my stash. I have combination skin and tend to get a little oily midday. The BE is easy to touch up, but the oil from my face would almost eat the makeup away. It also gathered in my few facial lines. The Lancome actually moves with your skin. Its a more "elastic" finish if that makes any sense. The staying power is far better for my skin and it doesn't cake in my smile lines.

Misc Beauty Tools -Bare Escentuals - Well-Cared For Brush Conditioning Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
dcolesco 8/23/2009 7:22:00 PM

I've always used my facial wash to clean brushes, and very successfully. I purchased this yesterday and it did a FANTASTIC job on my brushes....left them clean AND soft/silky. Particularly my flawless application brush that I use for the mineral veil that tends to look dry and wirey after many washings. Looks almost new today.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Matte Foundation spf 15
rated 1 of 5

I'm an oily skinned gal that has used the original formula for approx 10 years. It definitely took some trial and error to not get the shiney look and it was never a "transfer free" finish on my face. I tried the matte today and although I did indeed remain matte, my skin was very dry and itchy throughout the day. I just did my evening routine and my skin is extremely red and flakey. I'm willing to give it another chance since it was just one day of usage, but I can't think of anything else that would have contributed to the change in my skin today. Oily skin thats red and flakey isn't pretty :(

Shave Products -Aveeno - Positively Smooth Shave Gel
rated 5 of 5

I tend to believe that any shaving cream will get the job done, but this actually has made the hair on my legs softer and I can shave a little less often. Its now all I'll use b/c I find that it keeps the skin on my legs in good condition as well.

Skincare - Face -Avene - Thermal Water
rated 5 of 5
dcolesco 8/3/2006 1:17:00 PM

Yes, I pay for water to put on my face!! I spray this on my face before using Sage products. Those products require that you apply them on damp skin and I find that using this spray is the easiest way to accomplish damp skin without it getting too wet. Feels great and refreshing.

Sunscreen -Aveeno - Active Naturals Continuous Protection Spray - SPF 30
rated 1 of 5

I love Aveeno products and was so excited to see their expansion into sunscreens. I'm very fair/Irish and have to wear sunscreen all the time. The two times that I used this, I got a burn on both my back and chest after under an hour of sun exposure. It just didn't work for me like other drugstore sunscreens- and unfortunately I had to get a burn to figure that out.

Treatments -Sage - Fix Zit 10% Regular
rated 5 of 5

I have never been able to use any benzoyl peroxide products without seriously aggravating my skin until recently. I stopped using retin-a while my husband and I try to conceive and started using this instead. WOW. My skin no longer gets aggravated and it does a much better job than the retin-a ever did. My skin is essentially blemish free and has been for the three months that I've stopped the retin-a. Had I known, I would have stopped any tretinoin treatment years and years ago. This is all I need and my skin is happy and clear rather than red and flakey.

Moisturizers -Aloette - Cellular Day Defense
rated 5 of 5
dcolesco 12/6/2005 3:37:00 PM

I wanted to use this product for three months exclusively before writing a review. I absolutely love it, and I'm starting to really fall for all of the Aloette products in fact. Let me state up front that I do not work for the company. I've been a Sage user for quite some time. I'm 31 years old with a mild acne problem, oily/sensitive skin, rudiness and large pores. This day cream is my new HG. Its not too heavy nor does it leave me oily. I was tempted to knock a lippie off of the rating for the spf of 15, since I believe you should wear something much higher, but the fact that it doesn't break me out and seems to have evened out my skin tone just blew me away. I find it expensive unless you wait for the deals on the Shop at Home network- usually I can get two for the price of one or something comparable to that. I want to add just a general comment about Aloette- the SAH presentations have been luring me in for years but it wasn't until recently that I bit the bullet. I found that most of the products have acne-aggravating ingredients in them (like algae extract) and after using Sage and learning to control my acne, I was hesitant to go against "the list". I haven't had any problems with breakouts whatsoever- in fact my skin has never been clearer. I'm sure its a mixture of products to some degree and not just this moisturizer. I see myself using these products for a long time to come!

Treatments -Sally Hansen - Age Correct Growth Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
dcolesco 7/19/2005 4:17:00 PM

This replaced both my OPI and Seche Vite base coats. Its terrific. In the summer I wear it all by itself and people think I've had a manicure. The color is terrific. It doesn't chip and it keeps my nails healthy. Upon removing it with nail polish remover, my nails look healthy and pink rather than yellow. I just bought my third bottle.

Skincare - Body -Dove - silk-protection soft solid deoderant (click-up)
rated 5 of 5
dcolesco 7/19/2005 4:12:00 PM

I've been using this terrific deodorant for years now and I'm never even tempted to try another. About ten years ago I discovered I had a little nervous sweat problem (sorry, its gross!). My doctor told me to buy Certain Dri, which certainly did the trick. There was something about putting it on at night and not after showering in the morning that affected me psychologically though and I missed the idea of a traditional deodorant. Somehow I tried Dove, and I haven't looked back since. Keeps me completely dry and fresh. I think its a huge testimonial to compare it to something as strong as Certain Dri. I love it!

Treatments -Jan Marini - C-Esta Serum Oil Control
rated 1 of 5
dcolesco 6/13/2005 2:39:00 PM

Unlike everything else I've tried of Jan Marini's, this did not agree with my skin. I developed horibble breakouts after only a day of using it (much different than the benefical purging I went through with the glycolic cleanser). It controlled oil great for the first day, than horribly after that. I was not a fan of the smell either. Very disappointing.

Skincare - Face -Jan Marini - Antioxidant daily face protectant SPF 30
rated 5 of 5
dcolesco 5/9/2005 7:57:00 PM

I'm loving this product! I've been using it for 1 month now after being a (mostly) devoted Sage user for 4 years. While expensive, this spf goes on my skin very nicely, doesn't leave my oily skin greasy, and it works terrific under makeup. I'm not a fan of the smell, but I love how this feels on my face. I think this could be my new HG sunscreen. (I'm a PPP!)

Cleansers -Jan Marini - Bioglycolic Facial Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
dcolesco 5/9/2005 7:51:00 PM

I waited a month before writing a review on this product, just to make sure I could be fair. I think I've found my new HG!! I've been a devoted Sage user for almost 4 years now, but this cleanser has done more for my skin than most of my products put together. The first week I used this, I actually got compliments on my skin- from both family members AND makeup artists at department stores. Battling acne and oily skin most of my life, I've never heard nice things about my skin before. Each night after cleansing, I couldn't believe the gunk that was coming out of my pores. It was disgusting, but my guess is that it was proof that the glycolic was doing its job. By week two, my skin was disgusting and I almost gave up. However, the associate at dermstore told me this was going to happen and that she had just been through it herself. I hate purging and tend to give up as soon as it starts, but speaking to a real person on the phone helped me to be strong and I'm glad I stuck it out! That brings us to now- week four. My skin is just about back to where it was that first week I used the cleanser, which I might add, is the best my skin has ever looked in my life. My pores are not clogged, my skin is less red and oily, my makeup looks terrific, and my skin is ultra soft. Along with the cleanser, I've also been using the Jan Marini Transformation Serum, and the daily face protectant, which are both terrific products. I haven't incorporated anything else at this time b/c I wanted to take things slow and be able to attribute the good/bad to the right product. My initial experience has certainly peaked my interest and I'm about to try some more items! (I'm still using my Sage facial shampoo in the morning so as not to OD on glycolic- can't wait to see the results after using the cleanser twice a day!) EDITED: Its been a couple of months and I don't seem to be getting the same results that I got after the first month. Its possible that the humid, New England summer is just taking a toll on my skin that no product could compete with. I'll update more in a few months.

Scrubs -Mary Kay - Micro-dermabrasion
rated 1 of 5
dcolesco 3/22/2005 2:18:00 PM

I hate writing a negative review. I had such high hopes for this and tried it, despite the ingredient myristyl myristate which breaks me out. It didn't happen immediately, but about four days later I am left covered with pimples (the under-the-ground ones). Thanks to Sage and Green Cream my skin has been "acne free" with the occasional pimple here and there. This just really upset my face though. I should have known better than to stray from Sage's safe ingredient list (which really works for me, but just my opinion). I'd like to be brave enough to try this product again in a few months to see if I get the same reaction. I'll update.

Masks -Aloette - aloette warming pumpkin mask
rated 3 of 5
dcolesco 3/2/2005 1:31:00 PM

I agree with the other reviewer. This mask smells great, but I'm not sure it really did anything for my skin. It certainly didn't irritate it (which is a plus), but other than a "feel good" treatment, I don't think it had any positive effects on my skin. This is something I wouldn't spend money on again.
