Mascara -L'Oreal - Full Definition Voluminous
dauncey07 5/8/2013 1:45:00 PM
I have been a forever fan of the Voluminous mascaras. They never seem to disappoint. This one being the first one I ever tried (years and years ago) I always seem to repurchase it out of them all. Now, it doesn't give my short lashes much length (not that it's suppose to) but it does give them a dark color, definition and some volume and with a few coats it gives a great look. Price is amazing! I am a mascara junkie (can't leave the house without it - so I go through the tube quite quickly) so it doesn't hurt my wallet to repurchase this gold gem.

Shampoo -Giovanni - Root 66 Max Volume Shampoo
dauncey07 4/16/2013 11:53:00 AM
I pair this shampoo with the Tea Tree Conditioner and I will NEVER switch to any other brand. I have super fine, limp, oily hair (with other brands, I would have to wash my hair daily) With this - I can go every other day, and on the second day I still have body and shine! I also find this at Winners (in Canada) 1000ML for $15! Can't go wrong with that! Though, I am finding it more and more difficult to find (I guess the word is slowly spreading that this stuff is amazing!)

Misc Beauty Tools -beautyblender - the sponge
dauncey07 4/16/2013 11:49:00 AM
If you walk by this pink little guy all the time in Sephora and think to yourself "why the heck would I pay that much for a sponge, what's it got that one for the drug store doesn't?" Well, you've been missing out! And shame on you. However, I have to admit, I was one of those - for awhile - and suffering from terrible liquid foundation application. Until I finally purchased it after many walk-bys and reading wonderful reviews on here, and watching tutorials online. Honestly, I had no idea what all the fuss was about? It's a brightly coloured sponge - so what? Well, it's honestly the best applicator I have ever used. Better than brushes, my fingers and any other type or brand of sponge on the market. It makes applying SO easy and fast. Leaves a flawless finish. It's a breeze to clean. And I just store it in the container it came in, which is great! Stop walking by this, and purchase! Trust me. You won't be disappointed! And will wish you had of bought it a long time ago!

Foundations -Cover Girl - Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation
dauncey07 4/16/2013 11:40:00 AM
One of the few drug store brand foundations that I have actually repurchased. I recently have been completely sick and tired of spending so much money on foundations that are just "ok" I have extremely oily, acne prone, and super sensitive skin - pretty much the most difficult skin to deal with and to make happy. Unfortunately. I always thought, the more money you spend - the better quality you get. Well. Not always the case. I have spent well over $50 on a single foundation, ending up with the same results as this one. I suppose I will always be out there searching for a HG product, since my skin keeps me on my toes. But for now, this has held up to many of my high expectations. Price is great. Packing is perfect (who can complain about a glass bottle, with a pump?) every liquid foundation should come in this packing! It's got great, build able coverage (it doesn't completely cover my acne scaring, but hides it enough for me to be happy) and surprisingly is keeps me matte almost all day (I get a bit of oil buildup around my nose) As others have said, go for a shade lighter than what you think you are, as it does get a bit darker after applying, and sets. Definitely worth trying.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
dauncey07 4/3/2013 8:50:00 AM
Where has this been all my life? I am definitely a mascara junkie - I have super short, straight lash and ask a lot of the mascaras I purchase. I have been through so many, and never really found one that I loved, and committed to repurchasing ... until NOW. This stuff is a-mazing. Really. It lengthens, darkens, and holds the curl from my lash curler all day! Fan-tas-tic stuff! And its super cheap. I am happy to finally say .... HG MASCARA for me!

Powder -Lancome - Ageless Minerale Skin-Transforming Mineral Powder Foundation SPF 21
dauncey07 3/2/2013 9:30:00 AM
I was using Bare Minerals for quite awhile, mostly because I really didn't do much or any research about other brands/products that preformed as well as B.M. It worked well for me I suppose - but I did do a review on it awhile go stating that it was beginning to lag for me. Looking cakey, transferring on everything - and wasn't covering as well as it used to. But I just refused to convince myself it wasn't good for me. Pretty much all liquid foundations are terrible on my oily, acne prone skin - and to be honest - I hate applying them. So I headed to my local Shoppers Drug Mart (who thankfully sell B.M) and was greeted by the Cosmetician who informed me that B.M was pulling out of all Shoppers Drug Mart *gasp*! What will I do now? Now I have to make a special trip to Sephora just to get foundation (which never happens, I always walk out with way more than I intended to buy, or really need) Anyways. I was steered towards this foundation, was given a sample and reluctantly gave it a try the next day. Well. I was completely shocked. It looks BEAUTIFUL. It takes half the amount B.M does to cover my face flawlessly AND I didn't need concealer. It has the subtle glow that B.M does - but looks way better. It lasted all day (and that's hard to do on my super oily skin) and I had this gorgeous glow! Definitely give this stuff a try - get a sample first - as the colour selection isn't the greatest (they don't have a lot to choose from) They do however have in the same shade, intensity levels, which is genius. Apply with a kabuki brush, and a concealer brush (if needed) and you will be blown away by how it looks. I have acne prone skin, with many scars and this covered them completely! Way better than B.M.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
dauncey07 2/10/2013 4:48:00 PM
Wow, is what I will start off by saying! This stuff is AMAZING. Where has this little guy been hiding all my life? I just wish I had of found out about this years ago. I recently bought the Naked palette (after purchasing many individual eye shadows from UD) and this came free with it. To be honest, all these years I really didn't think "eye shadow setting" stuff worked. Pfft. Boy was I wrong. I decided to give this a try, after seeing many tutorials online using the Naked palette. Everyone was using this stuff. I just thought the crease was normal ... and every so often I would just dab my finger on my eye lids to blend everything together. Well! This stuff keeps my eye shadow COMPLETELY in place, for hours! No crease at all. I love this stuff!

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
dauncey07 2/7/2013 8:55:00 AM
I first used Proactiv when I was 16 and I was SO unhappy with it. Though it did clear up my acne, my face was SO dry. It completely bleached my eye brows (which looked super weird because I have dark hair) and it bleached everything that touched my skin (face towels, pillow case, collars to my shirts) and people told me that without make up on, I looked pale. So reluctantly (because I had been battling moderate acne for years) I discontinued used. Well, now 11 years later .. I am still battling moderate acne *sigh* and decided to give this a try again (they do claim its a gentler formula, if that's true or not, who knows) So I went to a mall kiosk, spoke with the rep about my previous experience and she talked me into getting a kit (3 step, oil free moisturizer and make up wipes) She also had suggested to only use it ONCE, at night, since my acne isn't severe. Well, that was about a month ago, and my skin is SIGNIFICANTLY better :) Almost all my acne is gone (I got a bit of a breakout during my period) my pores are SO much smaller now, I can't even really see them anymore, my face is no longer oily (I can even wear foundation all day, and it doesn't get shiny) I am also happy to report my eye brows are still brown, lol. I do however use WHITE towels, and make sure to wash my face well before I hit the pillow (to avoid any bleaching to my bed sheets or pillowcase) So, I will let you know how I use it: Night: Remove makeup with one make up remover toilette (which are AMAZING!) Then use the 3 step as directed, that's it. Maybe dab the mask on a blemish or two if needed. Then in the morning, I DONT use the 3 step .. I just use the moisturizer with SPF and follow that with my make up routine. It's worked wonders for me using it this way, so if you are having a serious dry out - or just starting out with the kit - do this routine.

Mascara -Lancome - Hypnose Doll Lashes
dauncey07 2/6/2013 10:33:00 AM
Ugh. So disappointed with this. The brush is terrible! It doesn't lengthen .. or give any sort of volume at all (I do have super straight, short lashes, so I ask ALOT of my mascaras) and is it just me or does it have a weird smell? I got what I thought was the blackest shade, but its kinda grey? And I found it wears off SO easily. Through out the day, I was having to wipe the faint blackness under my eyes from this mascara. Definitely not worth the $31 CDN I paid for this. I should have just paid the extra few dollars and got Dior. Don't bother buying this.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
dauncey07 2/6/2013 10:28:00 AM
What a fantastic palette. I am in looove with this. The colours are perfect, exactly what I use. I am a warm brown shadow kind-of-gal and this gives the perfect variety (light to dark ... matte and shimmer) I used to have 5 or 6 mini shadow pots in my make up bag at one time, and it was busting at the seams - now this little guy fits perfectly along with all my other make up goodies. I am never searching my eye shadow collection the right shade anymore, I always reach for this palette. I honestly could get rid of all my shadows and just have this. It's a great investment! Definitely worth purchasing. And if you're torn between this one or the 2nd ... Naked One is more warm shades, and Naked Two is more on the cooler side.

Perfect bronzer. Beautiful colour. Super cute packaging. My definite 'go to' bronzer. A little goes a long way, so it has lasted me quite awhile. This one is definitely in my make up bag at all times.

Blush -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed Tarte Blush
dauncey07 1/22/2013 6:14:00 PM
This is my 'go to' blush. I have purchased other shades from tarte, and love them just as much, but always seem to come back to this one. It gives your cheek the perfect colour. It's build able, which is great - if you want slight colour or more. It looks great year round, from winter pale skin to tanned summer skin. Lasts a long time, with a super cute/slim compact. Definitely a great buy!

HG foundation for me. Amazing coverage. Easy to apply. Blends beautifully. Great colour selection and matches my skin perfect. Packaging is super cute. Price is decent $50CDN @ Sephora. Nothing bad to say about this stuff. FANTASTIC :)

Crème -Revlon - ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup
dauncey07 11/28/2012 9:23:00 AM
I was pleasantly surprised with this product, after it took me about 20 minutes deciding on a colour! Ugh. Get testers Revlon! Honestly. How do you expect us to choose the right colour, while looking through a thick glass jar!? There was about 4 of them that all looked the same shade to me? I settled for Nude, and thankfully it was a good match. Packing is bulky and heavy! BUT! It's much much better than the jar Revlon uses for the original Colorstay liquid foundation. The consistency is so creamy, easy to blend, and covers great. I have acne scars, and need to layer and this doesn't look cakey! Fantastic product Revlon. Just address the massive waste of glass packaging, and provide testers of EACH colour!

Powder -Laura Mercier - Mineral Powder SPF 15
dauncey07 8/9/2012 11:38:00 AM
Well, I went through one of these trying to convince myself every time I put it on that it looked good. So I bought my second, and I just couldn't finish it. I have to agree with a recent reviewer "honestly, I don't know what all the fuss is about" For the price of this stuff, and from what some people have said I thought it was going to be a miracle powder for me, unfortunately not the case. There is too much glitter in it, the coverage wasn't that great, and the lasting power was terrible. I will say though, that my skin is super oily, so not many foundations tend to last on me. I found that I would apply it on to a blemish, and within minutes it wasn't covered anymore? Weird I know. It's a hit or miss with this product. I would say get a sample before committing to the full size.
