Lipstick -GOSH - Velvet Touch Lipstick #122 Nougat
darkskyequeen 5/3/2013 11:18:00 PM
This might be my new favourite nude/MLBB lippy. It is such a great nude tone that doesn't wash me out in fact it is very flattering on my nc44 complexion and somehow brightens me up. It goes on as a warm toned brownish pink on my lips. To me it looks like the lighter version of Mac's fast play. The formulation of this lippy is wonderful creamy... maybe too creamy as the lipstick broke while over zealously applying it... so be careful to use a light hand. I also find it way more moisturzing than any of the MAC lippy formulas. I'm so glad we have this line in Canada and it's so easy to get a hold of since SHoppers Drug mart is everywhere.

Blush -Pixi - Cheek Gel Blush
darkskyequeen 3/24/2013 7:56:00 AM
I came across this product when strolling through one of the new targets here in Canada. Seemed a little expensive at I think around 18 dollars. I tested the colour rosy on my hand and it seemed to have faded away into my skin maybe too much but after a few applications it gave a really nice stain. I wasn't completely impressed by the thought that I might have to apply a lot if I were to use it but I decided to buy it and experiment. Anyways at home I realized that it shows up way better when applied over foundation as opposed to bare skin. You just need the tiniest amount and simply dab then leave it on for a few extra seconds before lightly blending and it showed up beautifully. Unreal at how natural it looked on my skin. The next day when I wore it, friends at work complimented me on my nice glow :D. Also the colour seriously lasted all day even with frequent blotting.... there was no colour transfer even with my oily skin. Only other blush that can last that long is my nars exhibitA. I now am in love with this blush and I'll have to go back and purchase more Colours. I realize now with the right application this tube will last me a long long time and that alone makes the price worth it.

Lipstick -MAC - Velvet Teddy
darkskyequeen 11/13/2012 11:38:00 PM
Gorgeous colour! Im NC44 and this gives me a perfect nudey pouty lip look. Its almost the same colour as my natural lips but a tad more brownish so it's essentially good for hiding my lip imperfections and adding a little warmth. It is drying but when applied over top of lip balm it is perfect and lasts a long time... this is what I like about the matte shades btw. Because a little of this goes a long way I believe it will last a long time before I have to repurchase. - I forgot to add that I sometimes use this as a cream cheek colour by doing a little swipe on each side and blending. Edit: I unfortunately find this really drying even after adding lip balm so I havent been using it that often. Its such a wonderful colour though but just wish this was an amplified cream formula.

Fragrances -Givenchy - Hot Couture
darkskyequeen 11/13/2012 7:24:00 PM
I went to sephora looking for a new fragrance because I was getting a little bored of my current favourite which is Dark Kiss from bath and body works. I told the sales lady this and she plugged dark kiss into the computer to see if there were other scents along the same lines and somehow Hot Couture was one of the alternatives that came up. Well I tried it and loved it almost immediately because it was a little fruity with a bit of a dark edge to it. I walked around in the mall for a little until it dried down all while constantly smelling my wrists because of how divine it smelled. I ended up buying it and now I wear it every day even when I'm at home and going to bed. I think this lasts a lot longer than some of my other perfumes. Also I've been getting a ton of compliments on this from the guys and that almost never happens. One guy friend says it reminds him of patchouli which is one of his favourite scents. Overall, this fragrance to me makes me feel like a good girl with a bit of a bad girl edge. I get bored of perfume fairly quickly but this one seems to be keeping me interested. It's been over a month now and I have no desire to change fragrances. I have also noticed that this perfume changes sightly from day to day some days its sweet, some days it's sexy and dark, some days its a little of both. BTW I didn't find this to be any more expensive compared to the other perfumes on display. Packaging is not big and chunky so it fits easily into my purse. I will most definitely buy this again when it runs out... it is running out already :)

Lip Liners -GOSH - Velvet Touch Lipliner
darkskyequeen 9/28/2012 3:36:00 PM
I love GOSH liners. I have this in Coco plum which is kind of a medium/dark brown shade. I typically wear this as a full lip colour underneath lip balm. I prefer these liners to lipstick because it lasts long, looks very natural, and won't dry out my lips. I also prefer this brand of lip liner to Annabelle (can be very drying), and Mac (which is pricey and not as creamy/smooth). I recently purchased another colour called Nougat Crisp. It's in the same colour family as Mac Spice liner but is not as dark in colour. Too bad GOSH doesn't have more colour selection.

Foundations -Cover FX - COVER FX
darkskyequeen 9/6/2012 5:11:00 PM
This is my new favorite foundation and probably my new HG. With the right primer and application I find this is the only foundation that goes on in a way that looks exactly like my own skin. It blends in so well that if I didn't see the flaws fade away I would have figured that I forgot to apply foundation. What I do is put on "Mac Prep + Prime face protect spf 50" primer first. Then with my finger I apply streaks of this foundation all over my face or in just problem spots. Then I take a dampened beauty blender and dab it gently over my skin to blend the foundation in. That's it!! I I can get a full or light coverage depending on how much I of this foundation I apply to one area but usually it doesn't take much at all. I have oily skin so the mac prep and prime spf50 helps with that and the dampened beauty blender I think is the key to making it look flawless. With this routine my makeup lasts a good several hours before I need to blot. Also at the end of a 14 hour day it doesn't look as melted away like many of the other foundations that I've used. It holds up well and with a little more blotting and maybe a light powdering I can easily wear it into the night. I am an NC44 and the colour I bought is a B15. Even when I get darker in the summer it still works for me since it appears so much like skin and doesn't come off ashy. There is no doubt I will buy this product again

Lip Liners -MAC - Lipliner in Spice
darkskyequeen 3/15/2012 3:16:00 PM
I'm surprised at all the low reviews. This was my first Mac lipliner recommended by the MA. It's nice as an all over lip colour as well as a line for lipsticks that are on the warmer side (eg Mac Mocha, or coral lippies). The colour looks like an orangish brown on me. I don't wear it often but when I do feel in the mood for a more bronzey look this liner is perfect.

Lip Liners -Annabelle - lipliner in demure
darkskyequeen 3/15/2012 2:45:00 PM
Another great lipliner from Annabelle!! I use it as an all over lip colour in conjunction with lip balm. It looks soo much nicer than using many of my other lipsticks. This is such a nice pinky nude that brightens up my skin. Lipliners look so natural and nice as lip colours that I'm starting to wonder what the big deal is about lipstick. There was a point in time where I was searching for a Mac lipstick colour dupe for this but have had no luck.

Lip Liners -Annabelle - lipliner in Natural Rose
darkskyequeen 3/15/2012 2:35:00 PM
I love this lipliner! I'm using it as an all over lip colour on top of lip balm and it lasts a very long time!! The colour is amazing on my dark olive skin. It's like a muted purplish pink. It's actually looks somewhat natural and not over done and really gives you a finished look to your makeup.

Eye Shadow -Kat Von D - Love and Fury
darkskyequeen 12/23/2011 9:01:00 AM
Its so sad! This is the worst eyeshadow palette I ever purchased. It's been a year now with this and all of my cream shadows have completely dried out to the point where no colour can be transferred onto fingers or brush. It's rock solid. I kept it closed and rarely opened it to use it. That's the other thing.... I found many of the colours to be not that wearable for day. Glitter shadows had major fallout especially the lighter powdery ones. They bareley adhered to my eyes even with primer or a base. I'm surprised about the rave reviews.

Lipstick -MAC - Blankety
darkskyequeen 10/31/2011 4:00:00 PM
I think I found the perfect pinky nude mac lipstick. I'm a medium dark olive/NC44 and when I read reviews I thought for sure this wouldn't look too hot on me but wanted to give it a try anyways. Well to my surprise it works!! When applied it is kind of a muted version of my natural lip colour so it gives me a sort of fresh face look. I don't have to fuss with this too much either and can pull it off without a liner or gloss. Although with a gloss, it is very pretty. The makeup artist told me that she would not have recommended it for NC44 or deeper but was amazed at how it turned out. She suspected that it is probably because my lips are not that pigmented or have much of purple undertone. So I guess this is one of those colours that you really just have to try first no matter what your skin tone is. Your natural lip colour may be a big part of the determining factor.

Liquid -MAC - Matchmaster SPF 15 Foundation
darkskyequeen 10/29/2011 2:23:00 PM
I have been trying out this sample for 3 days and I must say I was skeptical but not anymore. I think I possibly found my HG and a replacement for my MUFE F&B foundation. This has way better oil control and coverage and I use much less product. With my MUFE I need 2 solid pumps and still don't get enough coverage. Anyways, I was expecting with this kind of medium coverage that it would look cakey upon application but that wasn't the case at all in fact I think it gave kind of an air brushed finish and really absorbed into my skin. I applied with a stippling brush and used my fingers to smooth it a little. I also notice it really covers uneven skin and left over acne scars well but still allowed my various moles to show through... which contributes to making it look more natural. The lasting power is excellent. I have very oily skin and with prep and prime brightening serum as my base I just needed to blot 3x over the course of a 14 hr day. I had no melting effects on my face by the end of the day and the coverage was still very good. With MUFE F&B I was blotting almost every two hours. The colour match with this foundation is excellent. I am an NC44 in studio fix fluid (made me look a bit ashy though under certain lighting) and #18 MUFE F&B. For this foundation I was given a sample in 6 and a 7. 7 was too dark but may work if I get a lot of sun. 6 was perfect after I blended it in and let it warm into my skin. From the picture it looks like its a similar style pump as the Prep and prime brightening serum. That style pump is excellent for traveling and has easy product release. Once this sample runs out ill be purchasing a full size bottle. I'll continue to update my findings. Update1: It's been over a month of using this and I still love it. Exceptional colour match finally and it wears really really well on my sensitive, acne prone, very oily/combo skin. Best foundation that I've used so far and I think this is my HG. My hunt is over. Update2 (summer2012): I still like this foundation but I have found it a little bit drying on my oily skin after using it over the dry cold months. Sometimes I notice I will look a bit ashy if I don't allow this to melt into my skin properly before going out in bright sunshine or getting pictures taken. Right now though I'm really loving cover fx cream foundation but this is still a nice foundation to keep in rotation.

Lip Treatments -C.O. Bigelow - Rose Salve
darkskyequeen 8/19/2011 10:51:00 PM
Love the product inside but hate the packaging. I've had this product for almost a year with mixed feelings every time i had to use it because I just have to fight each time to open the lid. Worst of all, in the past two months some how it got closed down pretty tight and maybe with the temperature change it made it impossible to open. Well tonight after all that time I finally got it open thanks to hubby who had to use one of his tools (a vice). Ridiculous!! In this day and age I don't understand why this packaging has not improved. Maybe it's for nostalgia reasons. Anyways, I won't be buying this one again because what's the point of having a great product that you can't even get at.

Polishes -Essie - Chinchilly
darkskyequeen 6/27/2011 1:44:00 PM
This is not too flattering on my skin tone but I just LOVE the colour. I have this attraction to these new grey toned polishes for some reason. In the sun... wow is it ever nice to look at... so unusual. It almost looks like a pale greyish lavender. Also I wasn't expecting the great quality of this polish. I just figured there was a lot of hype. The thing is this colour goes on opaque and streak free and lasts sooo much longer than the other polishes that I own. I wore this for a few days straight without having to touch up on it. I bought another Essie polish "Eternal Optimist" because I now love this brand and I wanted something that had a more everyday look.

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Professionnel Platinum Rounded Powder Brush
darkskyequeen 6/15/2011 9:12:00 PM
Love love love this brush. Immediately after buying it I had a case of buyers remorse because I felt it was just way too expensive. Well the remorse faded after I used it to apply my mac prep and prime powder. It seriously gave such a nice poreless finish. I never cared for that powder before this brush now I see why people like it. Also I like applying my blush with it over using my blush brush. It gives a very nice natural wash of colour to your cheeks.
