Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Turbo Boost Waterproof
darkopacity 1/27/2013 9:29:00 PM
After trying this out a few more times, I think this is one of the most buildable waterproof mascaras from Maybelline. I don't quite get this kind of layering volume with the newer waterproof mascaras. My thin lashes need a few coats to become visible. It takes patience, but I curl my lashes, and apply a few coats of this to get curled, thick, lashes. Simple and effective.

Creamy cool pink on my lips. It's not too light and not too dark. Beautiful creme finish.

Bronzers -E.L.F. - Baked Bronzer-ALL

I bought this in St. Lucia because I saw so many reviews on how it can be used as a highlighter. Ever since E.L.F. added more chunky glitter to their Essential Bronzers, I was looking for a very subtle highlighter without all the garish glitters. St.Lucia is a great light gold highlighter without the extreme shimmer. I love it! It gives off a toasty pearl finish. Really nice for yellow undertones.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast 24 HR Mascara

Believe it or not, this IS a waterproof mascara. If you look at the ingredients, water isn't even listed as an ingredient. It's a pretty standard waterproof mascara. There's no amazing volume or length, but it's easy to put on if you're used to the Lash Blast brush. It also doesn't tangle up my thin lashes together like other mascaras. It's clean and hassle free with each application. What impressed me is that there is no smudging or flaking. Every single mascara I've tried smudges on me, even the waterproof ones. It holds a curl like a dream, as any good waterproof mascara should. Yes, it is pretty darn hard to take off. I usually soak my lashes with grape seed oil and let it sit for a good 15 minutes before I gently rub it off with more oil and a cotton swab. It takes patience, but if you want a reliable mascara that doesn't run, this is the one.

Lips -Unlisted Brand - Hemp Organics lip tint in Kiss

A bit pricey for such little product but it looks so shiny/glossy and shimmery on the lips that I don't mind. I have this in rosé. It looks dark in the tube but it's actually a very sheer cool toned light pink. The ingredients are simple and a score for anyone who has skin allergies like me.

Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Last Lip Wear in Fragile Pink 409B
darkopacity 4/10/2011 3:22:00 PM
Looks like a nice pale pastel pink online but in reality it is a light pinkish red. Also, the lipstick doesn't go all the way down into the tube. I have chipped it way too many times. No me gusta.

Mascara -Laura Geller - Mascara Sealer

My mascara always smudges on me no matter if the formula is waterproof or not, so I bought this to stop the endless smudges. When I first used this I did the worst thing possible and applied it without scraping the access product on the side of the opening. Needless to say, the product was extremely sticky/gooey and clumped my lashes together and took forever to remove at the end of the day. When I use it right, however, my mascara doesn't smudge and is fairly easy to take off with grapeseed oil. So here's how to apply it correctly to be smudge free and to have waterproof lashes: 1.)Scrape the access product on the brush off on the sides of the bottle opening. You only need a thin layer. 2.)Swipe it sparingly over your lashes after your done applying your mascara (make sure your mascara has dried, too), concentrating on the base of the lashes. 3.) Wait for it to dry. It dries to a shiny/glossy finish. This stuff is really sticky when wet. 4.) Your lashes should be waterproof and smudge free all day :-). This product comes with a makeup remover for $20 but I bought this separately for $5 on ebay. I don't recommend buying it at full price. It takes patience to use it but it's effective.

Lipstick -Revlon - Color Burst Lipstick in 020 Baby Pink
darkopacity 12/17/2010 8:19:00 PM
I was afraid to buy this because of all the past reviewers saying that this is too frosty. Compared to Hard Candy Painted Lady in Flirt, this is so much less frosty. Yes there is a shimmer and it is pretty sheer, but not nearly as overbearing as Flirt. I also love how all shades in the Colorburst line have a shiny finish. The finish looks like a very light gloss. I'm pretty impressed.

Highlighters -NYX - Mosaic Powder Highlighter
darkopacity 11/5/2010 6:52:00 PM
I bought this highlighter because E.L.F reformulated their healthy glow bronzing powder in luminance (now it has a bunch of glitter D-: !). This NYX highlighter is PERFECT! It gives a sheer white pearly finish to wherever I apply it. It is NOT matte. It has a very soft satin glow. No glitter whatsoever! I hope NYX never ever ever discontinues this. It was my last hope for an inexpensive highlighter and it does the job wonderfully!

Lipstick -Hard Candy - Painted Lady Lipcolor in Flirt #201
darkopacity 10/31/2010 2:17:00 AM
Absolutely no. This is way too frosty and dry for my lips. This may work better for ladies with lighter skin tones, but this is just very frosty pale pink. On top of that, it doesn't have the glossy sheen that the other Painted Lady lipsticks have.

Brows -Revlon - Colorstay Brow Enhancer
darkopacity 10/20/2010 7:23:00 PM
I have this in Blackened Brown. I was a bit skeptical of how the color would work on my black (dark brown in the sun) hair. I don't like brow pencils that are just dark brown because it looks unnatural, but I also think straight black pencils have odd gray undertones that also look unnatural(like my Maybelline define a brow in Soft Black). My brow hairs are very thin, so I depend mostly on pencils to do the work for me. This is the perfect natural color for naturally raven haired gals like myself. It looks lighter when swatching it on my arm, but it blends into the brows to make a perfect natural shade. The pencil is thick enough to fill in larger areas. If you don't have pencil thin eyebrows, and just want something natural, this is for you! My only gripe is that the pencil clings onto brow hairs more than the hairless gaps of the brow that need to be filled. I usually have to blend it out with a brush, and apply again for a darker application. This is a little tedious but I think it's worth it. The highlighter is a nice added touch also, but unnecessary. It would be more practical if there were more brow product, than highlighter. EDIT: I just found out that the color dupe for Blackened Brown is Maybelline's Define-a-Brow in Dark Brown. It applies so much smoother than this one.

Moisturizers -Beyond Belief - Natural Focus Firming Day Creme
darkopacity 8/11/2010 12:48:00 AM
Amazing moisturizer! The price is a little steep ($9.99), but for my sensitive dry eczematic skin, this stuff is a dream. I'm not allergic to the ingredients and it's not too thin and not too thick. It has just the right consistency that I need on my super flaky dry face. Fragrance isn't listed as one of the ingredients but it smells SO yummy! It smells like sweet hot oatmeal (not good if you don't like the smell of oatmeal, but I love it!). I read one reviewer saying that it needed more fragrance. That's just ridiculous. I'm allergic to most moisturizers because of the awful synthetic fragrances they put in them. My other moisturizer kinda smells because of the fact that it doesn't have fragrance. With this one, I get to have the best of both worlds. I hope they never stop selling this and never change the formula. It's a great natural product perfect for my skin! I've typed out the ingredient list for all of my allergy prone sisters out there haha. I bought this because it's summer and my other Jason vitamin E moisturizer was feeling way too heavy for hot days. This really saved me the icky heavy feel of my other moisturizer. I even use it at night! EDIT: The company changed the formula and IT NOW HAS FRAGRANCE IN IT. :-(

DO NOT get this if you have dry skin! This went on cakey and streaky! Just down right awful. On my nose, it was the worst!

Blush -E.L.F. - Studio Blush Tickled Pink
darkopacity 7/21/2010 10:44:00 AM
My sister bought this because she wanted a light blush. This has no pigment whatsoever. We both have fair-medium skin tones and all that shows up is the shimmer. This would only show up on you if you are very fair.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Bare Naturale Gentle Lip Conditioner in Soft Bloom
darkopacity 7/16/2010 5:35:00 PM
Very soft sheer pink and not sticky, yet very glossy! It glides on smoothly. The texture and shine reminds me of Loreal's colour riche lipgloss (which I love). I bought this because it doesn't have any fragrance or parabens. It has a small amount of micro glitters for a soft shimmer. I'm pretty sure this is going to replace my colour riche gloss, to be honest! My lips are really sensitive and I just wanted a simple gloss for my lips without the irritation. As previous reviewers said, it comes with a turning dial so that it pushes the product out onto the rubbery applicator. What I didn't like is that it closes with a pop off cap so it might come off easily in your purse as opposed to a screw on cap. DO NOT get this at full price. If you don't like it, at least you don't have to break the bank. I bought this at Ulta on sale for $6. I don't ask for much in a gloss. As long as it's hypoallergenic and not sticky, I'm happy. The gloss is very sheer so if you want something simple and on sale, this is a nice gloss to try out.
