Hair -L'Oreal - Colour rays

Oh man, I just LOVE this product. I've always been a fan of L'Oreal haircolors but I've never tried a highlights kit before that I've truly dug. This however is AWESOME. I have dark blonde hair naturally that was showing a couple of first gray hairs, so I dyed it with L'Oreal Preference first to the shade nearest my natural color. I wasn't sure how hightlights would take on it so I used Colour Rays in "white". I only did a few strands originally as a sort of test and I panicked halfway through thinking they'd be too light and washed it off. The results were awesome. Blended perfectly with my hair and yet showed up just fine though still subtle. Someone at work thought I'd had it done professionally. Next time I did it, I left it on a little longer and got a slightly more dramatic look. I love it. I am sure even on darker hair this would do something noticeable. And it's a nice color not at all brassy or yellow. I still didn't leave it on the full time (about half to be exact), but I don't think I need to. It shows up just great. This is also a breeze to apply with the little brush thing which is MUCH easier than using a cap or a spatula. Not messy either! My only complaint is mixing it was hard in the little tub. I think next time I'd put everything into a bigger receptacle for ease. That's a tiny complaint though. This is an awesome product for me. I am DEFINITELY buying it again. In fact, I have!

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Casting color [DISCONTINUED]

I used L'oreal "Preference" on and off for years, but my hair was starting to feel a bit dry and I switched to "Casting" which has virtually the same coverage and colors without the nasty drying effect or Ammonia. The colors are GREAT and look fantastic and shiny. Your hair feels better and the stuff doesn't sting your head or smell as terrible as many other dyes. Although it's semi-permanent it seems to last ages! I don't think it's a product you would use to get drastic change to your color, it's mainly for enhancing or darkening or brightening a shade or two, but if that's what you want it's perfect. I use "Palomino" which is a dark goldy blonde, that is close to my natural color. It just gives a healthy boost and shine to my hair! I think it's called "COLOR SPA" now if you're looking for it in pharmacies (Merri) but the colors are the same as they were with Casting. It's usually a little more expensive than other semi-permanents but worth every dime.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Eye Glide Shadow [DISCONTINUED]

I LOVE this stuff. I have it in two colors - sky (pale, shimmery, sheer blue) and champagne (a sheer, light, neutral color). I love both to death! It feels good going on, the applicator sponge on the tip is easy to use and soft and all you have to do is blend it in a little with a finger tip and you're good to go. It gives a nice, fresh, sheer wash of color and a great, not too over the top shimmer that lasts ages! I'm going to get the whole set of these I think because I'm so delighted with the results. It's subtle yet don't think you can't notice it because you can. LOVE IT!

Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - Acqua di Gio (for women)

Oh my. I just ADORE this perfume. My mom bought it for me about five years ago when I first moved to New York City and I used it till I ran out completely. I didn't buy it again till last year and it immediately took me right back to the time I had it last. SO evocative. It's just so light and tangy and reminiscent of the ocean and summer flowers. The bottle is plain but the glass is lovely - kind of like the pieces of glass that wash up on the beach, all smooth and rounded. I can totally see how someone could easily drop it though. I just love this scent.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
daisycutter 5/28/2003 12:51:00 PM
I guess everyone really is different when it comes to moisturizers - me I love Dramatically Different Moisturizer, it's thick and satiny and my face really does feel soft afterwards. It's never caused me to breakout either. I have normal verging on dry skin and not prone to oilyness so I guess the extra oils don't do so much harm on my skin. One thing I hate though is the glass bottle packaging (haven't bought it in a while they might have improved this) because until recently it never came with a pump and was virtually impossible to get out of the bottle so i'd give up and waste half of it. I would buy it again in better packaging but I'm not SO sold that I wouldn't switch immediately if I found something I liked better. It does feel more night cream than day moisturizer though. A little heavy.

Fragrances -Clinique - Happy Heart
daisycutter 5/28/2003 11:50:00 AM
I always liked "Happy" but had a feeling there was a slightly synthetic odor to it at times. I bought "Happy Heart" earlier this year for a change. It's a light, summery yet distinctive fragrance, lasts a reasonable amount of time and is both floral and citrusy. It's great for day wear, doesn't get overpowering or sickly in my opinion, and is just a nice everyday scent. I hope Clinique continue to make this scent because it's refreshing and pleasant.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Preference Shine Extending Hair Color
daisycutter 5/23/2003 1:04:00 PM
I've used Preference for about ten years and love it so much. I occasionally switch for the sake of experimentation(recently i used Feria - great color, nasty drying and color didn't last long) and am now back with Preference. I only dye one shade lighter than my natural dark goldy-blonde color (I use Champagne Blonde) and it always looks so natural and shiny afterwards. The conditioner that comes with it is awesome and as someone said previously, I wish they sold that separately too! Out of all the dyes I've used this brand is absolutely my favorite. Worth the couple of dollars more than the other drugstore brands by far.
