Eyeliner -Bare Escentuals - Patio Party Liner Shadow
dairie816 4/14/2007 10:04:00 AM
This liner shadow is GORGEOUS. I have super dark brown eyes and olive skin, and this definitely made them pop. I apply with the b.e. eyeliner brush and my eyes come out amazing every time. The color is so unique....a blackish/brown shimmery gold green, maybe? Whatever it is, it's so flattering- I don't see how it couldn't be flattering on anyone. This is reaching HG status very quickly. And the best part is, for $12...this pot will last an ETERNITY. Great investment. Buy it!!!! You won't regret it.
Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Aquaphor Healing Ointment
dairie816 4/7/2007 11:48:00 AM
This stuff is incredible. I first discovered this while working at a daycare. One of the little boys had ridiculously bad diaper rash, and the mother told me toslather this on him at every change. Well....within one diaper change, his bottom went from red and raw to literally NO redness and a LOT better looking. I was amazed. Sooo....I am a constant skin picker. It's a bad habit. I don't break out much but when I do I pick like nuts....you know how you're left with a red scabby area that's ahrd to conceal? Enter Aquaphor...I dab some on the picked, scabby spot before bed....and usually the next morning while washing my face...all the scabby dead skin washes away and I'm left with new skin. Instead of a having a scab on my face for week I can get rid of it in a night, two at most...I love this stuff!!! I also use it for lip balm and undereye cream at night. I can't rave enough about this.
Wow....so after watching ALL the infomercials and being completely intrigued for at least a year over bareMinerals...I FINALLY went to a Sephora and bought the kit in Medium. I can honestly say after using it for three days...that I am completely ready to throw out all of my old makeup. This stuff is absolutely amazing. I have combination skin with occasional breakouts and a few spots from older acne and this covers EVERYTHING. I was out late the other night and had to crash at my girlfriend's house, I slept in the makeup...and the next morning my skin was just great! The best part is, no matter how many layers I have to apply, it STILL looks natural and luminous. I usually do two layers with the Kabuki brush, and then post-conceal with the same foundation using the concealer brush. I then dust on a TINY bit of Warmth. I also use the Skin Revver-Upper underneath because I find it to be an excellent moisturizer by itself, and it provides a great base for the minerals as well. I'll never go back to liquid makeup...I'm completely sold! EDIT: It's been over a week now of using this, my skin is clearer and I've purchased the summer bisque concealer as well...I'm totally hooked. Yesterday I got rid of all my other foundations. This stuff is amazing.
Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Concealer
dairie816 7/13/2006 10:21:00 PM
I LOVE this concealer. It's the only drugstore product I can buy that matches my skin tone nearly dead-on. The coverage is great for blemishes and undereye circles (it goes pretty darn smoothly over any blemishes). The warm range I use depending on how tan my skin is in summer or winter. It has a lot of yellow in it which I need. For the money- I think it's a great purchase.
Wow...after lurking on here for a few weeks, I took the plunge and decided to purchase this cleanser. I wasn't sure if I should get II or III because I have been using a glycolic cleanser for a few months now that was only 12% glycolic compound. But I'm SO glad I picked the stronger one!! The results on this are amazing. My time-of-the-month breakout has gone down very noticeably in only two days and my skin feels like SILK. The rest of my skin (where there isn't a pimple) looks poreless. Redness is also toned down, and my skincare products afterwards absorb so much better. This is definitely quickly becoming HG for me. Use on a clean DRY face!! I massage it in for 4-5 minutes, add al ittle water, massage more, and rinse.***UPDATE ON 5/3/07*** okay, so for whatever reason I haven't used this in forever and I've been having breakouts and dry skin...I just used this this morning. I rubbed it onto my skin and left it there about 5 minutes, rinsed off and towel-dried my face to find....ALL the dry areas flaked off to reveal smooth skin and all the flaky skin around old pimples has also completely flaked off! My skin seriously looks about a zillion times better. Happy rediscovery!!!!
Fragrances -Giorgio Armani - Armani Mania pour femme
dairie816 7/2/2006 10:36:00 AM
This, is by far my HG fragrance. It's a very sensual smell, it's a very heady and spicy vanilla scent, but I still think it "sparkles" if that makes any sense at all! It's slightly heavy but in a good, musky way. I get so, so many compliments on this. I used to wear this when I waitressed at a country club for a year and I swear I got higher tips and the chefs in the kitchen were nicer to me, too! The bartender even confronted me in the kitchen one night and said, Girlie, you smell dee-licious! It's a really great fragrance. I must say, though, I recommend it more for evenings.
Primer/ Corrector -Sue Devitt - Microquatic Fortifying Primer
dairie816 6/26/2006 2:06:00 PM
I love this primer! I have slightly oily skin that is sometimes breakout-prone, and this makes my makeup go on SO smoothly. I really adore this. I tried Philosophy's primer and found that way too heavy and not nearly as moisturizing. This seems to be light for a primer but it definitely does the job. I received this as a sample from Sephora, but I want the full size one now!
Proactiv....well. Where to begin. I'm almost 20 and I began using this when I was 15. When I was 15, I was going through a really bad phase with my skin. This cleared it up, but dried my skin out a lot. So pretty much, it's turned into a game of back and forth. What I mean by this is that I use my usual skincare all the time (I'm a Lancome and Estee fan) but if my skin ever really starts acting up, I pull out Proactiv and it clears me up in a couple days. I have my kit sent out at the longest interval possible (I think every 16 weeks) since I really don't need it that much. I think for every day use it would be too harsh, since that's how it was for me in the past. Also, I have slightly oily skin and this makes it really shiny. So when I use it, I only use it at night. ALSO- this WILL bleach your sheets!!! When I sleep with the repairing lotion on I use a white pillowcase- if you sleep on colors, it WILL bleach!
This is the best lip plumper I have ever tried. Especially for the on-sale price (unfortunately) of 5 dollars. It's a clear gloss (it looks slightly milky) and it feels like novocaine after it sits on your lips a minute. The lines in your lips become really smoothed out and your lips just look extremely smooth and moisturized. I like how this makes your lips feel numb, but you don't get that burny tingle like most lip plumping glosses. Overall, an awesome lip plumper. I hope Bath and Body works still has the sale going on because I want several more of these!
This mask is great for when I want to smooth out my skin and moisturize it. It leaves my face feeling firm in the sense that it is completely smoothed when I rinse it off. It's a two-step mask- a conditioning seaweed serum that you apply and work into your skin a bit, and then you "seal" that in with the actual mask- a clear gel. I do this before a shower and let it sit on my face for 20 minutes, then shower and rinse it off. This is, to me, the BEST thing to use in the summer after sitting in the sun and your face has that slightly tight, possibly burnt feeling. I do this mask, then follow it with a serum and moisturizer and it fixes my summer "crispiness".
Treatments -Estee Lauder - Perfectionist CP Plus with Poly-Collagen Peptides
dairie816 5/26/2006 8:57:00 AM
I love this!! I have oily skin and wouldn't use it all the time, though. It's a thickish serum (much thicker, IMO, than Idealist). It really smooths out your skin. I'm not sure about its anti-aging benefits because I'm 20 and don't really have wrinkles yet...but I do love the texture and it seems to make my skin glow while providing a great makeup base.
Treatments -Estee Lauder - Advanced Night Repair (Serum)
dairie816 5/26/2006 8:56:00 AM
I received two sample sizes of this after reading so much about it on here...I've gotten a terrible "hormonal" breakout this past week (yes, you know what that is) and I have a wedding to go to in 7 days. I started using this under my moisturizer yesterday and it has **definitely** helped with pimples and making my skin more glow-y overall! I'm so glad I tried this. A little goes a long way, too. This morning I used it and put Estee Lauder Idealist on top- that helped even more. My skin looks so much better already. I definitely like this stuff!!
I LOVE this stuff. Right now I use Lancome's Sensation Totale under my moisturizer regularly, but I use Idealist on my face after the Micro-D Thermal Refinisher or if I want to look really nice for something I'm going to. I haven't used it consecutively enough to see if it changes my skin at all, but I do love how it turns my skin satiny smooth instantly. It provides an EXCELLENT base to apply makeup over, and keeps your skin silky and matte. I have combo skin on the oily side and this stuff works so well on it. I just wish it weren't so expensive, but hey, what is eBay for after all? =)
Treatments -Lancome - Sensation Totale [DISCONTINUED]
dairie816 5/20/2006 12:57:00 PM
Lancome's Sensation Totale is amazing. I have oily skin and a bit of an uneven skin tone due to acne I had a few years ago. I got several GWP tubes off of eBay, which winds up being a lot cheaper than buying it in the department store. Sensation Totale is a Vitamin C time released serum that's supposed to refine, renew and restore. After using it under my moisturizer AM and PM for about 5 days now, I have noticed a huge difference in my skin. My skin tone overall seems much brighter and more even. My face feels smoother after I wash it. Under my moisturizer it also helps seem to keep my skin more matte during the day. It even seems to help make my acne go away faster. Anyway, I love it...and I'll keep buying it on eBay for the cheaper price.
Cleansers -Lancome - Pure Focus Deep Purifying Cleansing Gel
dairie816 5/19/2006 10:11:00 PM
I bought two little 2oz sizes off eBay to try this first. I guess I would say I have combo skin, but on the oily side combo skin. I just used this for the first time tonight, and I must say I really like it. It's a clearish gel with little blue beads, and it smells nice. It removed my makeup easily (I don't wear much though, I'm 20) and definiteley left my skin matte, which is good because I always get SO shiny in my t-zone. I'll re-update after using it for a while, but so far so good. UPDATE: I love this stuff. It's been pretty well on my acne, and I've read that the entire Pure Focus line contains salicylic acid, which treats blemishes. I would recommend this to anyone with oily skin prone to breakouts.
