Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation

So I was expecting HG status when I tried out this item. What a disappointment. The coloring, albeit having a wide range, did not match me. I got color matched three times, and each time, the color match was wrong! Ok - I know this is not a downfall for the product itself and that foundations from a wide color range all blend into my face, but the fact of the matter is, when I put it on my entire face....within hours it oxidized like CRAZY. it looked like my face went tanning on its own. :( What a disappointment...AND it felt a lot heavier than my current HG - nars sheer glow.

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Lasting Lift Mascara
daijy1234 7/27/2010 12:08:00 AM
I was so excited to buy this product when I saw the results that it gave - a mascara that could hold and 'lift' your eyelashes beyond what an eyelash curler could do! Upon trying it, I quickly discovered that technique is VERY important when applying the mascara. As others have mentioned, you really do need to 'scrape' the side as you are removing the wand from the mascara bottle so that you get one side of the brush 'less coated' with mascara than the other. If you don't do that, you will end up with the possibility of clumped lashes. The mascara does in fact do what it promises, however IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE OFF! While other mascara's melt when coming into contact with eye makeup removers, this one just doesn't budge. It doesn't 'melt,' but instead, small bits and pieces of the mascara come off. If you touch these 'bits and pieces' or your eyelashes (with the product still stuck onto it), you'll notice that it still feels hard. I've tried the nivea eye makeup remover, the clinique oil free eye makeup remover, shu umera's oil makeup remover, philosophy's purity makeup remover and la mer's lotion...but NONE removed the mascara successfully!! :( If someone knows what works, PLEASE message me, as I would love to use this mascara, but I can't because it just won't come off at the end of the day!!

Highlighters -Christian Dior - Shimmer Powder 002 Amber Diamond, Spring 08
daijy1234 7/5/2010 12:14:00 AM
WOW. I have so many highlighters, but have heard great things about this one from YouTube guru's and bloggers. I was reluctant on buying it because I couldn't justify the need for another highlighter after swatching it on my hand, and not noticing anything extraordinary about it. Finally, I gave in and purchased it. I apply it from the tops of my cheeks to my temples in a "c" shape using the mac 188 stippling brush. The product applies like a DREAM. It truly puts my face together by giving it that healthy iridescence. The is SO different from my other highlighters (in the best way possible) - I would repurchase in a HEARTBEAT! Also, I have found that this does not irritate my skin at all, something that is rare for me, as almost everything 'shimmer/glitter/highlight, etc.' seems to irritate my skin, leaving small bumps at the end of the night. Brows -MAC - Eyebrow pencil in Stud
daijy1234 6/24/2010 2:58:00 AM
So I have gone through over 8 of these!! When my eyebrows were sparse, I would use this to fill in my entire eyebrow, but found it to be somewhat unnatural looking. Since then, I have discovered that the best way to use this product is to couple it with a powder. Let me explain - I will use a powder (ex. Mac's espresso eyeshadow) to fill in the 'thicker' part of my brows, aka the beginning of the arch. Then, I'll use this pencil to draw the arch itself (so that I can gain more control of the shape) and the 'tip' of the arch (because I like that part to be thinner). It definitely takes some practice to get the shape right, but this is an amazing product to do what I listed!! Also, when using the method I've mentioned, this product lasts FOREVER when used everyday!!

Powder -Laura Mercier - Mineral Powder SPF 15
daijy1234 6/11/2010 2:03:00 AM
This stuff broke me out. I got these red bumps on my cheeks and it still hasn't cleared up! I did a comparison of the products that I am allergic to and have discovered that the ingredients in this product is IDENTICAL to that of everyday minerals. So although I did not like this product, IF YOU DO, you should try everyday minerals, as the two are practically the same, aside from the price difference.

Lipstick -MAC - Neo Sci-Fi Pleasureseeker
daijy1234 6/5/2010 9:39:00 PM
So I purchased this lipstick at the MAC warehouse sale for 7.50 (it was 15 BOGO for all lip products) - WHAT A STEAL! When I first got home and put it on my lips, I didn't like it because it was way too sheer. It didn't give me the color payoff that I was expecting, but the formulation was SO smooth and silky. Today, I decided to pair it on top of my HG nude (Peachstock), and it brought peachstock to life! the two paired together are absolutely gorgeous and I highly recommend you try it!!

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation
daijy1234 5/31/2010 11:49:00 PM
MY HG FOUNDATION!!!! I have searched far a wide for a foundation that would do what this one does! I have redness on my cheeks (not roscea) that I need to get rid of, which is what I look for primarily in a foundation. This foundation covers the redness perfectly!! I have sensitive skin - most foundations give me these 'little bumps' after 1 day of use - this one did not!! I have skin that is prone to flaking when a foundation is applied - this foundation remained on my skin without any flaking and looked gorgeous in the sun and out of the sun! I like to analyze my skin at an uncomfortably close distance - this foundation made my skin still look like skin..and not like makeup/cake-ness. I don't like a foundation that feels heavy. This foundation is extremely lightweight. I shake the bottle with my finger on the top, put half a dab on each cheek, then I go back and put 1/2 a dab on my forehead, 1/4 on my nose and the other 1/4 remaining on my chin. This is all you need!!!! For all those wanting a pump -- the nars website has just listed that a pump is now available for 6.00 USD. I am not sure of what it'll be in Canada (probably $7.00 like the MAC pumps), but please be advised that the reason why a pump was not originally sold with the product is because 1) Francois Nars believed the best tools are the fingers. He believed that with a pump, people would probably use tools with the product, which is not how he intended the product to be used. (Please be advised that if you have oily skin, you should never use your fingers, as the oils from your fingers are something you probably do not want additionally on your face) and 2) The product is water-based. The addition of a pump may affect the way the product is distributed within the bottle. Separation may occur -- this is why on the bottle it specifies that the user should shake before every use. If you don't use this everyday and you have a pump, the product within the tube leading to the top of the pump may separate over time, affecting the product that comes out of the pump itself.

Concealers -Clinique - All About Eyes Concealer
daijy1234 5/31/2010 11:41:00 PM
So I bought this concealer after hearing so much about it. Before I write my review, I'd like to point out that I have under-eye circles that are puffy, red in color and a few fine lines near my eyes. The coverage is amazing when you first put it on! It really matches my skin well and covers my dark circles magnificently. With that being said, I don't want a concealer that covers my dark circles, but simultaneously accentuates my fine lines, which is what this concealer did. With or without a setting powder, this concealer would ALWAYS settle into my fine lines. I will not be purchasing this again, as my other concealers (Bobbi Brown + MUFE setting powder, Dior Concealer) do not settle into my lines.

Self Tanners -Kiehls - Sun free self tanning lotion
daijy1234 4/18/2010 8:27:00 PM
MY HG TANNER!! I know that some girls are fairer, but I am a NC40 who uses this tanner and finds it the PERFECT self-tanner there is out there. There is NO streaking at all when I put it on. I know that some girls get streaks, but maybe it has to do with how they are applying it? What I do on my arms and legs is that I put the self tanner along the length of my arms and legs, but I also go back and do 'circle' motions around my arms and legs (width-wise?) as well!

Pressed Powders -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish Natural - Medium Dark
daijy1234 4/15/2010 6:26:00 PM
OH MY GOODNESS! I bought this powder because so many guru's use it to set their makeup, but I thought it'd be another hyped-up product. Boy was I wrong!! To set my makeup, I've used MUFE's HD powder, Guerlain powders, and CARGO's HD powder and NONE of them even come close to giving the 'perfect glowy skin' look that this powder gives. I tried to use this powder on it's own, but it wasn't able to cover up the redness on my cheeks. :( REGARDLESS, still 5/5 because few powders can (my Guerlain one does a better job if anyone is wondering) and this one is magnificent as a setting powder!!!!!

Lipstick -MAC - Peachstock (satin)
daijy1234 3/12/2010 2:06:00 PM
I LOVE this lipstick. I have been looking FOREVER for that perfect nude without luck, that is until I came across this! All the other nudes that the other girls raved about seemed too unnatural on my skin..you could almost see either hints of purple or blue? I don't know. Either way - this has become my HG nude!!! PS I am a nc40 in studio fix or nw30 for the mineral satinfinish

Mascara -Rimmel - Extra Super Lash mascara
daijy1234 2/28/2010 10:44:00 PM
HG DRUGSTORE MASCARA!! This mascara will not give you a 'va-voom' effect, but it's GREAT for that natural look. It doesn't clump at all and it absolutely perfect for layering. Because it is more of a 'lighter' mascara in consistency, it's perfect for applying onto the tips of your eyelashes. This mascara gives the 'tip' of your eyelashes that natural (NOT spidery) look. My routine to perfect, va-voom, but separated lashes? 1. MUFE aqua eyes (3 coats) on my eyelashes (do not put it on the tips because it'll give you that spidery look) 2. put this maybelline mascara gently on the tips - apply as many coats as desired!! LOVE IT. WILL DEF. REPURCHASE!

Mascara -Chanel - Inimitable Mascara Multi-Dimensionnel
daijy1234 2/2/2010 11:34:00 AM
MY HG MASCARA (for a NATURAL, but LONG lashes) I didn't realize how in love with this mascara I was until I moved on to MUFE smokey lash and imju fiberwig mascara. This mascara is extremely pigmented, can hold a curl expceptionally, separates lashes like I've never seen, never clumps/smudges, all while keeping your eyelashes soft to the touch! It doesn't add much volume, but the look it gives is phenomenal when you want that fresh-long lashes look.

Mascara -Make Up For Ever - Smoky Lash Extra Black Mascara
daijy1234 1/28/2010 4:51:00 PM
The first time I used this product, I HATED it. I was planning on returning it, but then I decided to give it another shot with a varied technique. What I've discovered is that IF USED IMPROPERLY, this mascara will clump and give you the most unattractive lashes ever! To get the opposite (the attractive 'smoky' lash), try applying this mascara in the following way: 1) Apply the mascara with a GENTLE hand 2) Do not push the wand into your lashes so that your lashes are completely entangled in the thick brush, but rather, your lashes should go into the wand, but only by a bit. If the brush 'suffocates' your eyelashes, once again, it will clump. MOST IMPORTANT PART: When applying this mascara to your lashes, try to focus on using the BOTTOM half of the wand. The top half of the wand (the part that you pull out of the tube last; also the part that goes into the tube first) for some reason just doesn't give you that desired non-clumping effect. EDIT: So i've finally had the opportunity to use this mascara for awhile and compare it to my previous (chanel inimitable) mascara. I've found that after you've used it for about a month, the formula changes and seems to have fine granules, instead of a pure liquid consistency. Additionally, I didn't realize how 'crunchy' it made my eyelashes until I compared it with my previous one. The huge plus to this is that it gives really great volume.

Mascara -Dejavu (Imju) - Fiberwig Lash Knockout
daijy1234 1/28/2010 4:43:00 PM
I like this mascara, but it isn't the best. What I really like about this mascara is that it doesn't give that 'blunt-tip' that other thickening mascaras do - if you know what I mean. it gives that gradual, natural tip that makes on lookers think that your lashes are actually that long to begin with! it is EXTREMELY easy to remove and does not smude at all during the day which is a HUGE plus. The only thign is, when compared to my other mascara that is great at lengthening, the color payoff just doesn't compare. I like my lashes to be DARK and am willing to sacrafice a bit of length for it.
