Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Clump Crusher Water Resistant
dahliakatz 4/14/2013 10:10:00 PM
Wow. Now I'm not much of a mascara user because I don't need it (I have naturally black eyelashes with a considerable amount of length and thickness). I normally only want mascara to finish a look, and it has to be bold but natural in texture. I couldn't get this to clump if I tried. 2, 3 coats, still smooth. Very impressed. And it wears all day with a pleasant amount of water resistance. It comes off just fine with my Aveeno cream cleanser but doesn't budge all day. Good stuff. I'm an enduring fan of Maybelline Full n' Soft (why did they discontinue the dark brown colour!?) and of Clinque's glossy mascara, for reference.
Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Matte 903C Just Peachy

This is the only nude lipstick I've ever liked. I love it, actually. I would almost wear this every day so I could have more fun with my eye makeup! I have really pigmented lips so I wasn't even convinced that a nude would look good on me - EVER - so I had given up trying. But I thought, aw heck, 2.47 at Walmart? Why not. And ladies and gents, we have a winner.
I like these stout little bottles. The scent from the bottle is intoxicating, however I can't seem to put on little enough of it to keep it from smelling dense and smutty after 5 minutes. I guess it just doesn't mix with my skin. This is the first Body Shop fragrance that has done this on me.
Gorgeous. Kind of a universal flatterer. This colour has a few different colours in it, I'm sure it'd look great on almost anyone. Great staying power. A soft almost-red, matte. Dress up or down. Classic style. Yeah, I'd say it's definitely darker and less vivid than the swatch, but equally lovely, and you can't beat the smooth velvety matte look. It doesn't seem to need a liner, either. Winner!
I haven't used this on my face, but it's brilliant overnight on lips, and anything else chapped and tight. Cuticles too. Yeah, the smell isn't exactly appealing, but it fades quickly. I'm also really appreciating the job it's doing on my scrapes and burns from a recent bike accident. It's been keeping the scabs from getting dry and cracking on tough places like my elbows. I personally love the package. I bought a mini one (it's about one cubic inch) on eBay, and it's charming and novel, and the times I've carried it in my purse it has never popped open. The cool thing about this stuff is that it seems to be active and effective in ways that other products (like Vaseline, Polysporin, tea tree, aloe) aren't. It's thick but breatheable, long-lasting but absorbs well, medicated but doesn't burn.
Blush -New York Color - Color Wheel Mosaic Powder Pink Cheek Glow

I keep coming back to this. It's oil free, it's a smashing colour, light and flattering but buildable into a very intense brightness if you want. Wears all day, flattering on pretty much anyone, I love the heck out of it. Also, it is seeming to last forever! I've had it for a couple years and I haven't even broken through the palette. Not to mention that the packaging is great, and easy lift-off lid that never falls off and is easy to put back on without struggling for fit. Boy did they get this one right. I think I'll buy the bronzer too (for contouring, as a reviewer suggested!).
Conditioner -Nature's Gate - Herbal Daily Conditioning
dahliakatz 8/27/2012 2:56:00 PM
I understand others' reviews of this conditioner being 'slippery', but I don't find it's a problem, maybe because my hair isn't long. But even when it was long, it didn't really bother me... it certainly wasn't a deal-breaker. I have rather thin short hair that doesn't like being too coated with silicones, and this lovely eco-friendly and deliciously-scented conditioner delivers for me. Light, refreshing, no build-up. As my scalp's natural oils come out, my hair is light enough that it doesn't end up looking oily, and I don't have to shampoo again for another 2 days.
BB Cream -Maybelline - Dream Fresh 8-in-1 BB Cream
dahliakatz 8/27/2012 9:02:00 AM
UPDATE: Totally broke me out. Strange large hive-like red bumps that would take half a week to settle down. Stopped using it, stopped happening. Sigh. Downgraded to a 3, because it did seem to be a lovely product. I'll miss it. Yeah, even though this is my first BB, I have to say I'm rather impressed. The coverage is extremely sheer, but it is a really nice complete effect and holds blush well. Even though I'm more olive toned than the colour I bought, it still blended in to my satisfaction. Lasted all day, too. Didn't get dry or greasy, very moisturizing, though oil free. Feels cooling and gel-like, and as a plus it was double-safety-sealed. SPF 30? Brilliant. And didn't break me out. Bought at Shoppers Drug Mart on sale for 9.99.
Going back to the store (via my mom who bought it first and then tried to hand it down to me). Lesson learned: always try makeup and lipsticks in daylight before deciding. This colour is awful on my yellow-undertoned skin, and the formula is really dry, even for a matte. Horrible on my mom too, who is rosier than I am. What SA let her leave the store with this? Yeesh.
Deodorants -Kiehls - Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant Cream
dahliakatz 8/22/2012 10:49:00 PM
Love this stuff. I wear deodorant every day, but when I need a little extra protection I use this overnight. I don't reapply. I find the more I use antiperspirant the stinkier I get. But for those times when I need it, it's really there for me, and I love love love the squeeze tube cream application.. why aren't more deodorants and antiperspirants like this?
Deodorants -The Body Shop - DeoDry Dry-Effect Deodorant
dahliakatz 8/22/2012 10:34:00 PM
Yeah I really don't like this stuff. It feel sticky and strangely wet when it goes on, and while it smells lovely and fresh in the stick, it doesn't smell fresh even half an hour later and doesn't 'deodry' anything... in fact, I think it makes me sweat MORE. Disappointing.
Masks -Ecco Bella - Organic Dark Chocolate Face Mask
dahliakatz 8/15/2012 9:54:00 AM
Lovely scent, smooth but overly dense texture (you have to use a little plastic spoon to scrape it up? They couldn't make it softer?), and doesn't do a darn thing for my skin. Doesn't break me out either. It's collecting dust.
THESE ARE THE BEST. Even the colours I'm not crazy about still look sheer and nice and wear really well. WHY OH WHY didn't they make them a permanent part of their product line? Ugh. MAC! *shakes fist*
The slimshines in general are worth the splurge on eBay, since they're discontinued... I've bought 4 and they're amazing. Sheer, comfortable, long-lasting, brilliant. I have to say I misjudged this colour at first. Thought it was too orange, and kind of garish. Then I clued in and used a peachy blush instead of a pinky one, and voila, gorgeous. I only gave it 4 lippies because it's a little subtle, not totally noticeable, not my favourite colour in the line. But otherwise, lovely. Ultra elegant. :-)
I only gave this a three because the colour looks like absolutely nothing on me. Not even MLBB. But it feel great on, and has a really simple no-nonsense lip balm tube with a satin finish, and I would really like to try the other colours. Maybe with a liner, it'd be pretty... That said, I do wear it all the time, and have almost finished the tube. That says something, I guess!
