Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Clear Face Break-Out Free Liquid- Lotion Sunblock SPF 30
rated 5 of 5

Where has this stuff been all my life? I have combo acne-prone skin and this is fantastic. No white cast, sinks in quickly and works well as an under-makeup primer. It will NOT moisturize, so I use a generous glob of DDMG underneath and let that sink in before I slather this on my face and chest. This is a chemical screen, so it might sting your skin a little (it does mine, but I'll live with it). I've suddenly started breaking out from products that didn't bother me in the past, so who knows if this will work well for me in the long-term, but I love it right now.

Blush -Bobbi Brown - Blush

I use the powder blush in Slopes and I'm obsessed with it. I'd been using NARS cream blush and a Clinique powder blush and was sort of not that into either of them. This survives the workday and looks beautiful. BB products are expensive, but SO worth it, in my opinion. I like this a lot better than the NARS products I've tried, for sure.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Perfection Volumizing Mascara
rated 5 of 5
dafyophi 10/20/2011 12:23:00 PM

This is my favorite CG mascara by far. The brush gives me nice separation, lots of volume without getting crispy or clumpy, holds a curl on my straight lashes and doesn't smudge. If you like more natural volume and feathery lashes, this is a great choice. Highly recommend.

Mascara -MAC - Opulash

LOVE this mascara. Most mascara smudges on me, including waterproof, and I hate how difficult waterproof mascara is to remove. I decided to try Opulash, and loved it. Lovely lashes, no clumps, long-wearing and easy removal. Comes right off with some warm water. It's a little more expensive than drugstore mascara, but still affordable compared to a lot of higher-end brands. My main complaint is that it's only available in deep black (I usually wear dark brown), but it's still good.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express One by One
rated 5 of 5

No clumping, decent volume, holds some curl on my stick-straight lashes and no smudging (EVERYTHING smudges on me). I use LashBlast Volume when I want really dramatic lashes, but this looks great for more subdued makeup.

Moisturizers -Trader Joe's - SPA Regenerating Antioxidant Moisturizing Face Lotion
rated 4 of 5
dafyophi 3/20/2011 11:21:00 PM

This has been my daily moisturizer for several months now. I use it underneath Neutrogena liquid sunscreen and at night. I'm already on my second bottle and I like it pretty well - the pump is sanitary, it doesn't break me out and it moisturizes well. The only real drawback is that it smells like Tang, but it absorbs quickly and hasn't bothered my skin.

Primer/ Corrector -Fyrinnae - Velvet-Gel Silica Primer
rated 3 of 5
dafyophi 12/26/2010 10:51:00 PM

I wanted to love this, but it just irritated my skin and broke me out. This is probably great for someone with combo (not super oily) skin and no problems with large amounts of silica. The oil control was fine, but the breakouts were not very attractive.

Sunscreen -Coppertone - Oil Free Faces SPF 30
rated 5 of 5

I love this product - it's $8, absorbs completely and doesn't break me out. I like it better than any sunscreen I've ever used. I apply a big glob after a light moisturizer and my skin looks great.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
rated 3 of 5

At best, this is a very unspecial mascara. My lashes look okay with it, but it's nothing that any number of other drugstore mascaras can't handle. LashBlast is a MUCH better volumizing mascara.

Highlighters -Too Faced - Absolutely Invisible Candlelight
rated 3 of 5

This is just such a weird product. It's not that I dislike it, it's that I've owned it for a long time and have no real idea what to do with it. The glitter is not particularly obnoxious and the powder itself is of a decent quality (though it's still overpriced), but it's not something I'd want on all over my face. You can't really apply it with a brush, so I'm kind of stuck with the sponge applicator it comes with. I pat it on over my undereye concealer and on my cheekbones. That seems like as good a use as any. My bottom line on this is that while it's not a terrible product, skip it. If you MUST buy something useless, at least blow the cash on something with some color in it.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Coral Reef
rated 5 of 5

This stuff is great. It has a nice texture, good pigmentation and a doe-foot applicator, which I prefer. It was also $6. It's an all-around winner.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
rated 5 of 5
dafyophi 7/25/2010 1:58:00 AM

I adore this stuff. It cleans your face. That's all. It makes no additional promises, which is kind of a revelation if you think about all the bogus claims that skin care products make. This stuff will simply remove dirt and oil from your face. If you have problem skin and use 2387923 different products to solve your issues, I suggest you try this. I buy the large bottles. I wish they sold it in jugs. This stuff plus a basic moisturizer made my skin clearer, better behaved and more even. It's completely cheap and is the champion face wash of all the face washes I've tried. Do not waste your money on a high-end product before trying this.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel
rated 5 of 5
dafyophi 7/25/2010 1:51:00 AM

This stuff is fantastic. I use it on my face all the time over my regular moisturizer on dry skin days. It's also good for irritated skin, bug bites, whatever. It's also dirt cheap. This is probably a great alternative for people who prefer gel moisturizers, as it provides light moisture that absorbs quickly and this brand contains no fragrance or artificial colors. With the quantity you get for a few bucks, you're also under no pressure to use it sparingly. BUY THIS.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
rated 3 of 5
dafyophi 7/25/2010 1:47:00 AM

I guess it's fine for its intended use, which is a supplemental moisturizer. But it's extremely overpriced and does nothing that a $3 tube of aloe vera gel can't.

Moisturizers -Clinique - Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
rated 4 of 5
dafyophi 7/25/2010 1:43:00 AM

This moisturizer works really well on my dry combination skin and compared to other high-end moisturizers, the price is easy to handle. That being said, it's epically overpriced for what it is, which is mineral oil with yellow dye and some thickening agents. No sun protection (which doesn't bother me) or antioxidant properties (which does). You will need a separate sunscreen and antioxidant product. There are no ingredients in this lotion that would dramatically change your skin, but if you like a boring moisturizer with no special properties, this is a great one. I use a pea-sized amount in the mornings. It sinks in quickly and allows me to apply my sunscreen without difficulty. I don't use this moisturizer all the time, but it's my old standby. I have yet to find an HG product for my face, so I rely on this because it moisturizes my face without breaking me out or turning me into an oil slick. However, when I find something I DO like better, I'll shelve this again.
