Blush -Quo - Lip and Cheek Tint Mini Trio Holiday 2005
rated 5 of 5

I got these for Christmas from my sister but was considering picking some up anyway. My favourite is the rosy stick. I normally use The Body Shop Lip/Cheek tint which is a liquid and is a very bright pink. This is a much more natural colour and is easier to apply because you can't really go too overboard with it. The coral stick is pretty too but doesn't show up very well on my light olive skin. The third stick is a bronze/gold colour in the tube but basically applies seethrough with gold glitter. I would use this one too add a bit of sparkle on my cheekbones to go out to the clubs or something but it's a very young look in my opinion. I use the rose shade on my lips all the time under a bit of gloss and it works great. The smell of these is really nice too, smells very fresh and kind of appley.

Treatments -Clean & Clear - Persagel 10
rated 5 of 5

Why didn't I try this before?! In canada, I've only been able to find Persagel5 with 5% BP so I never looked twice at it in my drugstore because there's a bunch of similar products around. When I went to Target in the summer I picked this up and WOW. This dries out a zit in half the time a salycilic acid product takes. I used this on a monster zit for 2 nights and shrunk it down significantly. After 2 nights you have to be careful not to use it on the same spot because it does dry it out quite a bit. But that's what you want in a product like this. I'll be picking up another package next time I'm in the states.

Moisturizers -Marcelle - Aquarelle Aqua-Matte Hydrating Fluid

I really like this one. I alternate between this and the oil free spf15 lotion. This one does a good job of soaking in quickly and keeping me somewhat shine free. I really like the texture, it feels so silky but it's oil free.

Cleansers -Marcelle - Marcelle Aquarelle Oil-Free Purifying Cleansing Gel [DISCONTINUED]

LOVE. I have oily/combo skin and after using the standard acne care cleansers like neutrogena etc. and having my skin tighten really horribly I decided to go the simple route. I tried a cleanser by L'Oreal for balancing. It was orange coloured and worked for a bit but also ended up drying up my face terribly. I used the Marcelle Gentle cleanser for a bit and switched to this in the summer to combat the oilies and I'm sticking with it. It's alcohol and fragrance free which I love and rinses so nicely. I like it with either their oil free spf15 lotion or the Aqua Matter moisturizer to finish off. And I recently bought the oil free tonifying lotion to try out. My tip is to buy the sets when you see them. I can pick up this cleanser and the Aqua Matte lotion or toner for about 14 bucks cdn which is great because the cleanser alone is about 12 bucks. I can't say enough about this stuff.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Soft Kohl Eye Pencil

I really like these. I have Pure White, Jungle Green and Denim Blue. They are so nice and silky to apply and the colours are all nice and vibrant. The white is excellent for inner rims when I'm looking tired to brighten. And the green and blue are lovely as an extra pop of colour under my lower lashes. My one complaint is that they are not the longest lasting of eyeliners. When I need long wearing liner I stick with Revlon Colorstay. But for ease of application and fun colours I like these best.

Moisturizers -Marcelle - Oil-Free Multi-Defense Lotion SPF 15

Love this. I have combo skin and this is the best thing for it. I use Marcelle's Gentle Foaming Wash too and that can dry me out a little bit so I picked this up too because I needed something with an SPF anyway. It's light and not greasy at all. I love that it's unscented and of course oil-free so I never worry about breaking out with it. It does a great job of keeping me moisturized without making me look all greasy.

Blush -Rimmel - Soft Cream Blush in Coral Kiss
rated 4 of 5
dabomb 5/20/2005 6:29:00 PM

For a drugstore blush, this is pretty good. The colour's really pretty and has a bit of shimmer to it. I think the shade would flatter most girls as it's not more of a pinkish coral than an orange shade. The colour does fade on me after a few hours so I usually dust a bit of coral blush over top of it. The thing I'd change about this is the packaging. The top of the case is a bit flimsy and comes off in my makeup bag quite easily. I'd prefer a hinge-top case.

Styling Products -Matrix - Amplify Root Lifter
rated 5 of 5
dabomb 5/20/2005 6:26:00 PM

I have long wavyish hair and love this product. My hair's not that thin, but it is fine and tends to fall flat after a long day. I use this on my damp hair, spraying at the roots around my crown and at the nape of my neck and then use my fingertips to massage the product into my scalp. Then I blowdry my hair upsidedown, either straightening with a paddle brush or just scrunching. It gets a bit sticky if you don't distribute it properly or use too much. But I've had no problems with dryness.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
rated 5 of 5

I'm an official convert now. I waited almost 2 years to try this and can't believe I did. I use about 8 tablets ( I can't find uncoated, so I just use the lightly coated ones) and put 'em in a little container with a couple spritzes of water from my spray bottle. Smoothe it on and leave for 20min. The first time I used it I noticed immediate results. My skin was silky smooth after and some red marks from blemishes were faded. I use this about every other day as either a mask or a quick scrub and my skin has benefited so much. I've thrown out all my other masks and won't be buying any others anytime soon. If you haven't tried this, go out and buy yourself some cheapo drugstore aspirin and do your skin a big favour!!!

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Soft Kohl Eye Pencil

Love it. Stayed over at a friend's place without my makeup kit and stumbled into the drugstore looking for something to wake up my hungover eyes. Picked this up in Pure White and it is just the thing. The colour is bright white though, which is a bit shocking if you don't smudge a bit with a qtip or something. To make it last I top it with the Rimmel Watercool shadow in On Ice (pale sparkly yellow) and that does the trick. I put this on my inner rims to to look more awake when I've got an early class and I'm running on no sleep. The texture is phenomenal, smoothe as butter and no tugging! I'm definitely gonna pick up a couple more of these next time.

Gels/Soaps -Aquolina - Pink Sugar Glossy Shower Gel
rated 4 of 5

I was short on cash and wanted the fragrance of Pink Sugar so I went for this instead. It smells lovely, but doesn't really last on my skin. It is very moisturizing though and the texture is pleasing.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - WetSlicks Lip Gloss -Peaches N Gleam
rated 3 of 5
dabomb 1/25/2005 6:01:00 PM

I bought this on sale after a few weeks of looking for a peach d/s lipgloss. On me, this does show up slightly peachy, but it is more of a pink and yes...quite frosty. Not exactly what I expected but nice enough

Bath Treatments -LUSH - hot toddy bubble bar
rated 5 of 5
dabomb 12/11/2004 12:44:00 AM

Just tried this tonight and loved it. I wasn't sure how much to use so I broke off about a third of the bar and crumbled a bit under the running water. Bam! tons of bubbles. Was feeling lavish so I used up that third, which resulted in a tub full of thick fragrant bubbles. The scent of this bar is lovely; spicy, but still sweet and the smell lingers a little on the skin. My first bubblebar and I'm definitely impressed. I took off points for expensiveness, because it cost me 8$ cdn including taxes for this bar, which is quite a bit for only 3-4 baths. But in any case it's a lovely treat and would be great as a gift.

Cleansers -L'Oreal - Visibly Clean gel - normal skin
rated 3 of 5
dabomb 12/4/2004 6:19:00 PM

Bought this at the height of summer and height of my skin's greasiness. It smelled citrusy in the store, but when I use it it smells more like peaches to me, but still very nice. It's a very refreshing cleanser that rinses very easily. I used it all summer and it kept breakouts to a minimum, but as soon as cooler weather came around it made my skin feel tight and dry. Now I use it a couple times a week to keep oil at bay. EDIT: this dries me out far too much and after switching to Marcelle cleansers the scent of this drives me nuts.

Shampoo -LUSH - NEW! Hair
rated 4 of 5
dabomb 12/4/2004 5:36:00 PM

A great product overall. I bought it during finals b/c the stress was resulting in mass shedding of hair. The smell is a bit powerful at first (spicy cinnamon and clove), but I barely notice it now and it I don't smell it at all once it's rinsed out, so it won't interfere with the scent of other hair products. As for hair regrowth, I saw plenty and my hair has stopped shedding excessively. Only complaint is that it does result in a bit of dryness, so I invested in a richer conditioner (thermasilk for dry hair) and now it's perfect.
