Fragrances -Frederic Malle - Carnal Flower

Beautiful lush and green tuberose. It is so far and away from the normal "flowery" compositions I have smelt at the department stores. Very realistic tuberose which just lasts and lasts on my skin. I get whiffs of it through out the day and this is from just one spritz.

Eyeliner -Kanebo - KATE super sharp liner
rated 5 of 5
d_copper 12/3/2008 6:26:00 AM

I have the Kate Supersharp eyeliner in Black and Dark Brown. Pros: + Very easy to use, easier than a gel liner since you gotta have a good brush to go with those and less tugging than a pencil. + Black draws a nice defined black line (not glossy black though) and Dark brown draws a medium brown line. +Wear is very good for me if I don't rub my eyes. It is not a waterproof eyeliner but it doesn't smear on my oily lids. +Cheap at only USD 10-14. Cons + Dark brown isn't as dark I would like + If I rub my eyes it will fade +Can leave a faint stain on the skin unless you use eye makeup remover

Powder -Kanebo - Lunasol Skinfusing Powder Foundation
rated 4 of 5

I am NC27, Dior 30 and bought this in OC-30. Color match: A little bit light but nothing a little blending at the neck can't resolve. Flash photography factor: Yes, it will make you look lighter due to the SPF 20 sunscreen ingredients. Wear: I have dry skin with a slightly oily T-Zone. It is one of the most comfortable powder foundations I have tried because I only notice a slight tight feeling. Alot of foundations, even liquid ones can still drying to me. This wears well on me, with slight fading at the end of the day since I tend to rub my face sometimes (out of frustration at work :P ). Coverage: Use to have alot of breakouts so also dark post-blemish marks and will have hormonal breakouts. I use the Laura Mercia Secret Camoflage concealor, and the two together works well to minimise my blemishes without looking caked on. I rate this as medium coverage if I use a flocked sponge and dab it on.

Eye Shadow -Kanebo - KATE Dual Carat eyeshadow duo
rated 3 of 5
d_copper 10/24/2008 6:12:00 AM

This is my first Japanese eye shadow as I generally use MAC, MUFE or L'oreal. As one of the other reviewers pointed out, this is a glittery eyeshadow. Not shimmery, glittery and there is fall out even if you just press the eye shadow on. I bought BR-3 and while the combo is very pretty I don't think i will use it at work. Perhaps for a clubbing look but i find it just too OTT otherwise. Staying power = moderate the glitter can be rubbed off quite easily but the actual base color does stay.

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
rated 5 of 5
d_copper 2/23/2008 9:22:00 AM

This product made me a nail polish junkie because finally I can do my nails at night and NOT wake up with bed sheet marks. Application: When new it is a nice liquid consistency. You put it on when your nail polish is still wet and make sure to put the TC over the edges of your nail to protect the tips and prevent shrinkage. It dries quickly and to a mirror shine finish, so if you don't like shiny manicures, don't get this. Wear: Depends on how thick the nail polish layers are underneath, but generally 3-5 days with no chipping though some tip wear. If I add a good top coat on the 2nd or 3rd day of mani, it extends the wear. Warning: The only issue I have with this TC is that it gets gloopy and thick and difficult to use when the bottle is about 1/2 to 2/3rds gone due to its quick-drying nature. But if you add some nail polish thinner it will nearly restore it to new.

Top/Base Coats -Nailtek - Foundation II - Ridge-filling
rated 4 of 5
d_copper 2/23/2008 9:12:00 AM

Got this along with the NailTek II Intensive Treatment because two of my nails well peeling at the edges and it was just getting worse and worse. Application: easy, flows well and dries quick. Finish: Matt and it absorbs whatever you put on top, so for your base coat or first coat of nail polish, don' t do really thin coats as that will come out too streaky. Ridge-filling capability: It smoothes the ridges a little, but it won't make the ridges disappear unless they are very minor. This + Nailtek II Intensive has made my nails stronger and definitely no new splits, although the existing ones need to be cut off otherwise they continued to travel up the nails.

Powder -Lumiere - Flawless Finish
rated 5 of 5
d_copper 10/28/2007 2:21:00 AM

I need a foundation that can be used for combination skin, doesn't aggravate existing acne and did not irritate my skin (like Everyday Minerals did). It also had to provide sufficient coverage for my post-blemish marks. This foundation does pretty much all of this, though it still doesn't hide all my pigmentations. However nothing has unless I put on a lot of full-coverage foundation + concealer. This gives me a nicely polished look and it doesn't look like I am wearing foundation, even up close. Just be sure to use a good sunscreen or moisturiser before hand, one that doesn't sit on the skin. This is much better than liquid foundation which can be messy to apply and picks up all the flaky bits on my skin when it is dry.

Palettes -MAC - Holiday 2006 Warm Eyes
rated 5 of 5
d_copper 12/2/2006 10:19:00 PM

This is my first MAC palette and when I opened the box and swatched the colours I fell in love.
The packaging is one of the best I have seen in terms of eye palette, as it includes a proper eye shadow brush, a nice mirror and the size is perfect in the hands. It also feels quite study as it is metal construction on the outsize. Because the top is fabric covered, no smudges show up. Bonus :D
To the colours themselves - I actually like them all and I think they are quite versatile. For your reference I have been quoted as NC 25 (perhaps even 30).
I like white tie (light beige with gold pearl)as a highlighter or even an overall wash to brighten the eyes. You can apply it heavily or lightly. This is also true for Valet (copper with heavy pearl) which makes a really nice popping colour if used heavily or a brightener if used lightly. Woodwinked (warm antique gold) is gorgeous as a crease/wash colour and so is Sable Wrap (dark olive with dirty gold pearl). Embark (intense reddish brown) is a matt and so if you swatch it , the color payoff is lighter than the others, ensuring you can build up the colours. I like to add it to darken my outer third crease colours.
If you are looking for an office-safe eyeshadow palette I will definitely recommend this.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 5 of 5
d_copper 12/2/2006 10:09:00 PM

Love this! I have Asian eyes, so the upper eyelid nearly covers the crease entirely. This means that without a primer my eyeshadow just moves into the crease line within 2 hours of application.
Using the UDPP this creasing is reduced by 95%? I doubt any primer except super glue can make my shadows creaseless 100% due to my eye structure, so I definitely recommend this product 100%.
As a bonus it does make your eyeshadow colours more vibrant. I did a swatch test where I swiped some eyeshadow over primed and unprimed area, and the difference was clear even in fluroscent light.

Treatments -Avene - Ystheal Gel with Retinaldehyde
rated 5 of 5
d_copper 11/5/2006 5:29:00 AM

Being used by a 50+ lady who has dark circles under her eyes. The gel is bright yellow in color and disappears quite easily in the skin. Because of the gentleness of this formulation there was no reaction to Retinal A.
Results was seen in 2-3 weeks time with noticeable lightening of undereye shadows.
Bought two more tubes as backup.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - Catherine Deneuve Buffer Brush
rated 4 of 5
d_copper 11/5/2006 4:44:00 AM

Let's get the bad points over with first. The brush has basically no packaging except a flimsy plastic tube and plastic wrap around the brush itself. As for the price, expensive as for a kabuki. More than Bobbi Brown, Chanel etc etc.
However, the quality is amazing. I just got mine - a normal MAC 182 and it is very soft, very dense. I never knew what other people meant when they say they just want to brush their face with the 182 until now. It is beautiful.

I also choose this rather than a-Squirrel or Japanese kabuki because the other were either not as soft or not as dense. I bought a kabuki from the internet and there is just no comparison.

Love this to bits.

Moisturizers -Laura Mercier - Moisturizing Cream with SPF
rated 3 of 5
d_copper 9/23/2006 5:00:00 AM

I got this with a GWP but I love it. I have slightly dry skin but oily around the forehead and this cream works with both areas. It is SPF 15 and the consistency is creamy, but absorbs fast and is just really lovely. I find that it doesn't have the sunscreen smell that I get with Olay. Edit: Sorry, it is now back of the cupboard as it seems to have broken me out and it doesn't work well with foundation, especially mineral foundation.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eyeliner Gel in Lithograph [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
d_copper 9/23/2006 4:50:00 AM

I am giving this product a four because I love the colour but it can still crease on me which is a shame. It is definitely a long lasting eye liner, it doesn't move on to my lower lids, and it is very true to its colour in the pot. It is a lovely dark grey with a tiny bit of glitter and it would work wonderfully in creating a smokey eye effect. Goes on very smoothly and is a great day time choice if you cannot wear black eyeliner.

Nicely pigmented stuff, have it in brick red and I am a slightly tanned Asian. Will definitely buy again as the quality and price is unbeatable.

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Mascara Base [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
d_copper 9/23/2006 4:45:00 AM

My lashes are straight, about a 1 cm in length (longest) and it slants down. I curl my eyelashes, coat my lashes with this product and then comb immediately with a metal lash comb. Because of its formulation if you don't comb it, it might get clumpy. However it is very light and my curls never ever die on me, so much much LOVE! If your lashes refuse to hold a curl, definitely give this product a try. It is very expensive but I have yet to find anything that can do what it does.
