Cleansers -Kose - Softymo Deep Cleansing Oil

This is a lovely product. It is especially effective for removing makeup and physical sunscreen. But now I find myself using it even if I've been home all day and avoided makeup. Massaging it into my skin before using water, then adding a little water to dissolve my own oils and any makeup or sunscreen simply feels lovely. And my skin never feels cleaner than after I've thoroughly rinsed with lots of water. My skin is slightly oily, and extremely sensitive. I'm susceptible to both allergic reactions (mild ones, thank goodness) and easily clogged pores, whiteheads and such. I really believe that this cleanser, and homemade ones like it, or simple similar ones like olive oil cleansers, are the best way to keep my skin healthy and clear. I have bought it a couple of times through ebay sellers, and each transaction was smooth as silk.

Moisturizers -Dr. Denese - Wrinkle Defense Day Cream SPF 30

This is a very light tinted moisturizer with UVA/UVB protective ingredients, with a caculated ppd of about 5. For the winter months, I can wear it alone on my face for a little sun protection. Unlike almost every other product available, this does not irritate my skin, cause an allergic reaction, or clog my pores and cause pimples. For all those reasons, it gets a 5. It comes in a jar, and I use it with only clean fingers, so it should stay sanitary, but a tube or pump would probably be better. Unfortunately, it is quite expensive by my standards, but, so far, it's simply the best. active ingredients: zinc oxide 7.5%, octinoxate 7.5%

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Aquanil cleanser

This is now my favorite cleanser. It is gentle, fragrance-free, and actually seems to soften my skin. I use if AFTER all sunscreen and makeup has been removed with an oil cleanser. No cleanser this gentle could remove the physical sunscreens that my sensitive skin requires. It comes in a large bottle, with a pump dispenser, which is the most convenient. As it happens, I like the simple packaging, the white bottle, the clear graphics, the texture and smell. Ingredients: Purified Water, Glycerin, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Xanthan Gum. Cost: $11 for 16oz online.

Moisturizers -Desert Essence - Jojoba Oil - 100% pure

I have slightly oily, sensitive skin, and just a few drops of this was enough to clog the pores on my cheeks, slightly.. I am quite puzzled by the wide range of reactions to this jojoba oil, with some individual reviewers even going so far as to promote it as a solution for acne -- on other websites,

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Extra Gentle Cleanser

For a gentle cleanser, this was too strong for my slightly oily, sensitive skin. It smelled nice, was pleasant to use, and effectively removed my physical sunblock.

Cleansers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Cleanser (Normal to Oily Skin)
curiousmom2 10/7/2007 7:27:00 PM
This cleanser was too strong for my oily skin, and left it feeling stripped, tight and dry. It did effectively and efficiently remove physical sunscreen with only one wash. The smell was medicinal, but acceptable. I assume (do not recall) that it is fragrance-free, so the smell is not a problem. I have very sensitive skin, and did not have any problem with redness or allergic bumps. I will continue to use the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser until I find a cleanser that is both gentle and efficient.
