Eye Shadow -NYX - 10 Color Palette - Champagne & Caviar
ctall119 8/6/2010 10:52:00 AM
This is palette is my first exposure to the NYX brand. I have to say, given the cost of the item as a whole ($9.99) I am VERY impressed with the quality. The shadows were pigmented and blended easily. They are stored in a sleek/slim black case which provides easy transport. This palette will definately be my go-to travel palette as the shades will provide looks for both day and night. Also, if the palette gets broken or lost or damaged, it won't cost a thing to replace! Overall quite impressed and delightfully surprised!
I am shocked that I am as impressed with this fragrance as I am. I have been waiting for its state-side release, and as soon as I saw it, I had to have it. Although I am NOT a huge fan of this perfumes younger sister (the original Pink Sugar) I smell the similarities between this perfume and that...but the Sensual version has a much larger floral aspect. Wearing the scent for about 3hrs at this point - I am picking up a soapy fresh clean (perhaps the orange blossom?) note as well. Not tooth-achingly sweet like the original in its drydown. Very happy and quite impressed.
Definately a "my lips but better" shade! A perfect compliment to a done-up eye...or a no-makeup type day! Love the buildable color, the glossy finish, and the LACK of sparkle! Very pretty shade! Perfect for year round application!
Let me preface this review by stating that I am a HUGE fan of Fracas as well as ESPC's Tuberose Gardenia (the two perfumes most often compared to this one.) This one, on me, is cloying, heavy, headache inducing...and not at all similar to the descriptions given below. I get no coconut or fun or sweetness from this. I get a heady (old framented) flower overload mixed slightly with dusting powder and in the drydown I smell books found at consignment shops. The old leather bound books with the moist pages and handwriting in the margins. This scent is not my cup of tea at all. This perfume is being returned to Sephora ASAP.
Fragrances -Juicy Couture - couture couture 2009 perfume

I do not mind the scent of this perfume; although I do find it eerily similar to the (original) Juicy Couture. I also can smell a "grape" note - but it does not smell to me like Grape Kool Aid, it smells more along the lines of Aussie Sprunch Spray. The grape accord though does not last. It melts into a soft floral and lingers on your clothing and skin. I am happy I own this perfume - and I do not see myself swapping this away - but I also do not see myself repurchasing this fragrance either. It is a nice scent to wear while out shopping or running errands...it isn't sexy, but it is comfortable and pretty. Edited to add - 4 hrs after writing this initial review - the scent is totally gone. It has disappeared 100% and no longer lingers close to my skin or on my clothes. Bummer.
Eyeliner -MAC - Softsparkle eye pencil in Iris Accents

Used correctly, this liner is awesome. Too light to be used as a liner on its own...but when your waterline is lined in black, and when this liner is used to line your lower lash line...it looks awesome. The black on your waterline really makes the shimmer and light lilac color of this pencil pop. I also use it overtop of Bobbi Browns violet ink gel liner. It adds a bit of brightness and a pop of sparkle when used overtop a darker liner. Very pretty...but not too useful when used on its own. Must be used in conjunction with other items to achieve a put togehter look. Looks dynamite when paired with the Devil-May-Care 2009 Holiday Mineralized Shadow Duo.
LOVE the pigmentation of the 2009 Holiday Mineralized shadows. The lilac shade is true to form. It applies (with use of a heavier hand) the same as it appears in the pan. Shimmery without glitter. Love. The silver side has sparkles in it. When used wet, it is a super metallic chrome. Lovely for the holidays and lovely together. Used dry - they are sheer and shimmery. Used wet, they are electric and daring. I use wet when/if lining the lower lashline.
Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 5 Colour Eyeshadow - Smoky Crystal

Another sheer quint from Dior! Although the colors look gorgeously placed in the palette - which they are - they apply SO sheer. You get more shimmer then you do pigment. Some people may dislike the quint because of that, but that actually, makes me enjoy it even more! What makes this quint interesting is the taupe infused silvery shades. All of the shades have a taupey undertone...lovely array of colors - and the lavendar shade in the center makes the eye pop! Pop in a soft and feminine sort of way. Nothing over the top, and nothing too dramatic! The quint is pretty - and will be perfect for the holidays. Price ($56) is mid range. Packaging quality (5) as I would rate ALL of the Dior quint containers. Overall Rating a 3. But that is because what other people would consider to be negative (lack of pigment) I consider to be a positive. Would I purchase this product again? No, as I do not use this variety of colors enough to ever run the risk of running out! Top left: A shimmery goldy taupe Top right: A shimmery medium taupe Bottom right: A shimmery bright silver (great for your inner eye) Bottom left: Shimmery charcoal gray (much more sheer then it appears) Center: A shimmery lavendar that is softer and paler once applied to the eye. Not as bright as it looks, but still, very pretty.

I do not know why it took me THIS long to purchase this quint. All the shades inside are perfect; they are all versatile, blendable and gorgeous! Out of all of the Dior quints I have owned (and I only have three remaining - the rest has been swapped) next to the infamous Iridescent Leather...this is by far, my favorite! Perfect for all reasons imaginable! Great for a soft smokey office eye (polished and professional) and my Go To quint for a dramatically brown eye smoked out! Pure gorgeousness. Definately shimmery...but the shimmer is SUPER easy to work with and super beautiful once on!
Fragrances -Trish McEvoy - #3 Snowdrop and Crystal Flowers

Paid $78 for a 1.7oz bottle. Love the heavy triangular glass bottles that all of Trish McEvoy's numerical collection of perfumes come in. They are classic, chic, and look pretty on your vanity. This scent is EVERYTHING I wished Philosophy's Amazing Grace was. The scent is almost identical. The only differnce besides the price? Trish McEvoys Perfume #3 lasts FOREVER. Amazing Grace disappears within minutes. Soft, clean, crisp and special. Pure love and good clean fun! I will DEFINATELY repurchase this scent...
If there could be a perfectly flattering, nude, lipgloss, Melt in your Mouth would be it. It is a milky pink that provides just an ounce of color. It will not override the color of rosey pigmented lips, but it will certainly lighten them with a milky pink glossy finish...that will NOT wash you out. This seems to be a flattering shade for both dark and light skinned girls. Almost the liquid gloss version of the HK Pink Fish TLC.
Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Sexy Little Things Noir
ctall119 6/26/2009 1:12:00 PM
I cannot believe I am writing a RAVE review for a VS perfume...but I am! SLTN is a BEAUTIFULLY sexy, sultry and "grown up" scent. It is as far away from the Pink/Heavenly collection of scents as one can get. It has a nice combination of gourmand/earthy notes, and as the scent developes it graduallay evokes a slight similarity to Trish McEvoys Sexy #9, which I did not care for because of the blackberry musk. This perfume is also a third of the price of #9... Very very pretty...and definately my best investment yet made at my local Victorias Secret!
Lipstick -Guerlain - KissKiss Maxi Shine in 621 Cherry Shine
ctall119 6/15/2009 1:37:00 PM
A gorgeous blue toned (sheer) I-just-finished-a-cherry-red-icepop colored lipstick. The tube itself is heavy metal! Very bold, heavyweight, and luxe. The lipstick itself applies sheer, has minimal (if any) scent/flavor, and provides a sultry and sexy summery red pout. There is microshimmer in the lipstick, so I agree with the reviewer that suggested applying the shade with a lip brush (although I did not notice uneven or blotchy application by applying the color straight to my lips from the tube!) I love Guerlain - and I am in love with the newest products that are found in the KissKiss Maxi Shine line! Worth every scent paid at Sephora ($32).
The 2nd most gorgeous Dior Quint I own. The first is Dior's LE Iridescent Leather. This quint is versatile. It can be used for a polished, yet neutral, office eye - and with the glitter shadow overtop - and smudged liner to create some smoke you can doll up your eyes for the evening! This quint is beautiful in appearance, achieved result AND quality. The shadows - described quite well by the reviewer below me - are soft and blendable. The liner is easy to apply (and actually applies well with the included mini applicator) and the glitter overlay shadow (top left) creates a "wet" and sparkley overlay. There is no fall out (used with OR without primer) and the glitter is SO finely milled that it applies very smooth and is not gritty at all!
Truly Pink is truly a rose infused fragrance. I do not pick up any notes other then the rose itself. Very pretty - true to form - and lasts upwards of 8hrs! I think that the bottle itself is pretty (and I do not find it bulky). Although I did say I would purchase another bottle...I do not think that I would ever have to. Although Truly Pink is a VERY office appropriate scent (as it is NOT overpowering or overbearing at all) and it does make a nice addition to my work-scent rotation and it would be a nice year round perfume, I cannot see myself going through an ENTIRE bottle of it. I have too many perfumes and I love them all! Very nice, but not HG material!
