Treatments -MD Skincare by Dr. Dennis Gross - Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel
crazyglue008 1/31/2005 1:22:00 AM
I just had an Alpha Beta peel at the Ritz spa and was given the Daily Face Peel for free. The spa peel left my skin very soft, tighter and brighter. The lines around my mouth and under my eyes are barely visible. My technician told me that the effects of the peel will last 3 days so I should start my home regimen after that. 3 days later, I noticed that my skin was not as bright or tight, it was even a little dry in this freezing new york weather. I used the system and it immediately brought it back to the same effect I had after my spa peel. I think this product probably works better in conjuction with the professional strength peel. I will finish the 30 day supply and see if it will keep up the good work.
Gels/Soaps -Laura Mercier - spiced honey creme body wash

I so LOVE this product. It smells so delicious. I normally abhor vanilla scents but ever since I found out about LM's foodie scented line, I am now a convert. Her products never smell artificial. It's a very true food scent. The cleansing quality is good as well. The water beads up on my skin after a shower because it's so moisturized. I don't feel itchy or dry afterwards. I took 1 lippy off because it's so expensive.
Loose Powders -Laura Mercier - Shimmer Loose Powder in Sundust
crazyglue008 8/1/2004 11:40:00 PM
I am not sure what this powder does. I thought it was a bronzer when I bought it but the MA at Bloomies later told me it's not a bronzer (she's right, it doesn't really show up on my skin at all). It's more like a shimmery powder. I am much more impressed with BB's shimmery bricks, it's easier to use and less messy. I don't know, I haven't really figure out a use for it so it's on my swap list.
Yay, I got this brush FREE at Bloomingdales today for buying $50 worth of stila makeup. I have to say that everyone is right about this brush. It's great! I have asian eye lids and it's not the easiest to blend colors without looking like I have a black eye. This brush picks up the perfect amount of e/s and blends nicely. I am very happy. I also use the liner side to sweep on a brighter color on my lids or line my lower lids with pale shadows (it really opens up the eye). I only wish it was smaller. I hate make up or tools that can't travel easily with me.
Palettes -Trish McEvoy - Barely Nude Face Essentials
crazyglue008 7/25/2004 1:14:00 AM
I was very lucky to get this palette as a part of a lot (all for $15!) on ebay. I wasn't sure about the color at first but once I tried it on, I couldn't believe how pretty and natural I looked. I agree with the other MUA reviewer about the colors looking great on Asian skin tone. I am chinese as well and it's very hard to find pretty and natural looking e/s. This is it! Now I am really tempted to try other trish stuff.
hm.. maybe I am the only one that like this product. I got a very generous sample from sephora a while ago. I use a Q-tip and dab a little of it right on the pimple (I have normal skin but during my period, I break out). The next day, the pimple is all gone but my skin is not red. I love this stuff. It does burn so I can't imagine putting this all over my face.
I have the secret brightner, secret concealer and secret brightening powder. I go through the steps every morning. Some mornings, it works, some, it doesn't. I did notice the the ONLY reason why secret brightener works is IF YOU ARE IN A LIGHTED AREA. If I was in a shadowy room, my under eye circles look just like they have no coverage on at all. I guess the whole idea of directing light away only works if there are light to direct away. I was on a big LM kick and I bought everything. I am really disappointed that this whole under eye coverage thing didn't work out for me. Maybe I am supposed to be a #2 not a #3? Bottom line is, I just don't really see a difference using this product versus not using any at all.
It's a lip cream/ lip tint and goes on non greasy. My lips felt velvety afterwards. The color is a very natural flushed red color. In the tube, it looks a bit dark rasberryish but it goes on lighter and doesn't have any overtly pink or purple tones. I really like it. The staying power is pretty good. I think it was on for about 3 or 4 hours. It's totally YLBB! The only gripe I have is the $24 price tag. It seems these days everything is $24. At this rate, makeup is even more expensive than caviar!
Fragrances -Demeter - Sugar Cookie Pick Me Up Spray
crazyglue008 7/7/2004 1:08:00 AM
yummy! I tested some at sephora today and it made me soooo hungry... I am not sure what the chemical smell everyone's talking about. It smelled sweet and buttery to me at the store. I don't normally like vanilla scents b/c some can be too musky and I get sick from those easily. I didn't detect a hint of musk in this scent. It smells kind of doughy... Exactly like right after I added vanilla extract to the dough. I take one lippie off because the scent had NO staying power what so ever. I sprayed it on all over and as soon as I walked out the store... poof, it's gone!
Blush -Laura Mercier - Cheek Colour (powder blushes)
crazyglue008 7/7/2004 12:39:00 AM
wow! that's what I have to say about LM blush's staying power. Let's see, I woke up at 9am, ran to the subway, walked 7 long blocks to work, ate in a sweaty restaurant, labored through a 75 minute yoga class and now it's 1am in the morning and my blush is still PERFECT. How is that possible?
I gave this 4 lippies because I really, really like the color moue. I am not crazy about the felt tip since it dries out so easily and i have to press really hard on my lips to get the color out. But once you get this thing on and put a layer of shine over it (try a clear peachy color), it looks SO lucious!
While I am generally impressed with demeter's unique ideas, I always have detected a strange "demeter" scent in all their lines. However the blue hawaii smells really truely of pineapple. I never realized how happy the scent of pineapple can make me. I tested once at sephora and I just keep on finding myself going back into the store and "testing" it over and over again. Finally I broke down and bought it. Now my boyfriend steals it from me whenever I am not looking. It's truely a great scent for the summer and probably winter too!
Lip Gloss -Bliss Labs - Breath-Freshening Lip Balm- Mint
crazyglue008 7/4/2004 1:50:00 AM
I bought this as an impulse buy after my monthly eye brow waxing session at bliss. At first I thought I really got suckered, but I really love this gloss/balm minty thing! It's not very sticky when it goes on and it does freshen my breath (for a little while at least, it's not meant to be mouth wash!) It's glossy enough to be lip gloss but it's also more moisturizing than just standard lip gloss. I really hate that plastic feel of lip gloss and this goes on much lighter and natural looking but still with a good shine. I would definitely repurchase this after my tube runs out. At the look of things, this might take a while, I have used mine daily for 3 months now and it's still 70% full.
okay, after reading these comments I now know what was breaking me out. In my other reviews of SKII stuff I said that I bought the whole line and I wasn't sure why I was breaking out and my face hurts but I guess this is it!
I got a full size bottle of this as a gift. I was really amazed to see my laugh line soften after applying just the smallest amount. It seems to just plumped up my face and soften all the harsh lines (not that i have many, I am 30 but I have take great care of my skin so it's still pretty translucent looking.) Armed with this experience I bought the entire line. What a mistake. I started breaking out in little red bumps. However, I do not experience that with using just this product. Recently I gave this to my mother who just turned 56 and she was so excited to see her face looking younger and more radiant right after she tested it. I think I might go back another bottle for myself... but I have no lines or wrinkles (just some dehydration line) so maybe I should save $120 and stay away from Saks.
