Bronzers -Physicians Formula - Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Bronzer
rated 5 of 5
craff 1/29/2009 4:28:00 PM

I bought the "Healthy Glow" color (the one with the lavendar in it) for my light to medium skin. I was disappointed the first time I tried it because the bronzer did not appear to add any color to my cheeks whatsoever, even after I applied another layer. I was ready to return it, but I decided to give it another try the next day. I'm glad I did. The second time I tried it, the color showed up. There must have been some translucent layer on it when it's new. Anyway, the product is very soft (fine powder), and it's not sparkly like other bronzer's I've tried. It added a nice healthy glow to my skin (hence the name)--not garish at all. The cardboard packaging is cute...and light. The lid to the bronzer and the lid to the little brush in the compartment on the underside of the bronzer closes with a little magnet. I won't ever use the brush it comes with, but it's nice to have a little compartment on the bottom (good for blotting sheets, etc.). It also houses a handy mirror. Since the packaging is light, it won't add to the weight of your handbag. Best thing about it is it contains no parabens and other gunk that most other products contain. Thumbs up to PF!

Cleansers -MyChelle - Fruit Enzyme Cleanser
rated 4 of 5
craff 9/15/2007 3:45:00 PM

MyChelle's Fruit Enzyme Cleanser works very well to remove all my mineral makeup without stripping my acne-prone, dry skin. It leaves my skin well cleansed and refreshed. The consistency is a bit thick, but it means I only need to use a couple drops to effectively cleanse. It also has a pretty strong scent of pineapples, but I got used to it. I love that this cleanser is paraben free. It is also free of SLS and SLES that irritates my skin and causes breakouts. I would highly recommend this cleanser.

Moisturizers -MyChelle - Night Revitalizing Cream
rated 4 of 5
craff 2/27/2007 6:14:00 PM

MyChelle's Revitalizing Night Cream. Likes: - Sinks in well and leaves a nice canvas for powder mineral makeup. - Leaves my dry skin well moisturized and soft throughout the day and night (applied in the morning and at night). - Has a subtle and nice scent (warm like brown sugar). - Causes no breakouts on my acne-prone skin. - Paraben-free - Pump dispenser for sanitary and controlled dispensing. Dislikes: - Bottle is glass, so handle with care. - Bottle is opaque, so difficult to determine how full/empty the bottle is. - I could complain about the price, but it really isn't too bad. I'm just used to paying drugstore prices, although the prices for drugstore skin care products seems to be on the rise.

Shampoo -Burt's Bees - More Moisture Raspberry and Brazil Nut Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
craff 10/13/2006 4:16:00 PM

Very effective shampoo that smells good...at first. The aftersmell (probably the lingering synthetic fragrance) gives me a headache. Too bad Burt's Bees continually includes synthetic fragrances in their products. Otherwise, I would buy more of their products.

Powder -Unlisted Brand - J.Lynne Mineral Foundation
rated 5 of 5
craff 8/15/2005 5:36:00 PM

I have sensitive, acne-prone, combo/dry skin and need medium to full coverage in foundation to hide my imperfections (red acne scars). I've tried many lines, and J.Lynne's is holy grail material!

The foundation has a light and soft, non-chalky texture. It goes on very smoothly, and gives a buildable medium to full coverage with a flat top brush, applied dry. (That's how I apply it, but different application methods will give you different results - just one of the versatilities of mineral makeup!) The finish is natural with a subtle glow (does NOT equal shiny!). My face looks soft and naturally flawless with J.Lynne's foundation on.

I live in the desert (triple-digit temperatures!), and this foundation has never melted off my face - even during monsoon season, which makes it very humid! My makeup has even looked untouched after time spent at the pool! (I just blot the water off, rather than wiping.) I also haven't gotten a sunburn on my face since wearing it - a true testament to the sun protection the foundation offers.

As you can see, I highly recommend the foundation. Also fabulous are J.Lynne's other products - eye shadows, eye liners, illuminating powder, lippies, and blush, to name a few!). The quality doesn't stop with the product, but extends to the customer service. Jess is AWESOME! She really cares about the customers and goes above and beyond to make them feel special.

Cleansers -Earth Science - Clarifying Facial Wash
rated 5 of 5
craff 6/10/2005 3:29:00 PM

Earth Science Clarifying Facial Wash is my holy grail of all the many cleansers I've tried. It's very effective in cleansing off all my makeup, yet doesn't leave my skin feeling stripped and tight. It's so gentle (has a 5.0 pH and contains no harsh surfactants), yet effective. It's perfect for my dryish, acne-prone skin. I love it and will buy it over and over and over again!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
rated 2 of 5
craff 6/8/2005 12:40:00 PM

I had been using Maybelline's FullNSoft for a while before it started getting clumpy on me, so I tried Voluminous after reading all the MUA raves. To my disappointment, Voluminous is also clumpy. As such, the volume it adds to my lashes results in a hairy spider look. Not pretty! On a positive note, it does not smudge, and it lasts all day. My search for a HG mascara continues. I'm looking for something with a smoother, gloss-like formula. Update: The clumpiness went away, allowing for nicely volumized lashes. However, smudging began. Oh well.

Polishes -L'Oreal - Bijou Facets B Girly
rated 2 of 5

Like shelly59 said, the color is nice, but I didn't like how it goes on. It's very fibrous and went on goopy. I won't be buying this again. Good thing it was inexpensive. I much prefer the Shock Proof and Revlon nail polishes.

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - Powder Brush
rated 3 of 5
craff 5/10/2005 11:55:00 AM

This was a great brush...until the brush head fell off with the ferrule (metal tube part). The glue holding the ferrule and brush head to the handle (I have the one with the older light blue handle) was not quite strong enough. Otherwise, the bristles are soft, the brush head is full, and there is minimal shedding.

Skincare - Face -L'Occitane - Extra-Gentle Cleansing Milk Shea Line

I wanted to like this product, but it didn't take much of my makeup off. It would work better with a washcloth.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
rated 5 of 5
craff 8/14/2004 8:59:00 PM

Cetaphil's Daily Cleanser for Normal to Oily skin was my holy grail until I had to find something more moisturizing when my skin became more dry. Now Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash is my holy grail. It not only removes all my makeup, but it leaves my skin feeling hydrated. I still use a moisturizer after cleansing though. Thanks, MUAers, for recommending this product! **UPDATE** Turns out my skin is sensitive to Sodium Laureth Sulfate, so I can't use it.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Cream
rated 5 of 5
craff 8/14/2004 8:56:00 PM

My search for the perfect night cream has finally ended. This is my holy grail! I've finally found a night cream that not only provides enough moisture for my combo/dry skin, but it also absorbs quickly! I buy the one in the tube, since it's more sanitary and portable than the tub, but the you get more product for the price if you get it in the tub. Thanks, MUAers, for recommending this product!

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Lotion
rated 3 of 5
craff 8/14/2004 8:53:00 PM

I bought the Daily Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 15. It's a great product that provides enough moisture and sun protection for my combo/dry skin without feeling greasy or heavy. It absorbs into my skin quickly and provides a nice base for my foundation. Thanks, MUAers, for recommending this product! It is my holy grail! ***Update: Ok, I was too quick to call it my holy grail. Turns out that this moisturizer was making me shine big time, and not just in the t-zone. I've since returned it and am trying Aveeno's Positively Radiant. So far it's great, but I will write a review for it once I've given it more time.

Liquid -Maybelline - Smooth Results foundation [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
craff 8/14/2004 8:50:00 PM

This foundation has a nice, creamy, and smoothe texture. It provides a medium to full coverage and is emolient enough for drier skin types. It also has SPF 18, which is nice, but I still wear a moisturizer with SPF underneath. The staying power is pretty good considering the creaminess and emoliency of the foundation. My only complaint is the bottle it comes in. It's glass with a neck that's wider than my finger. A sanitary pump would have been perfect.

This lotion is very nice. It's not only very moisturizing, but it also absorbs quickly and has a subtle sweet, lavender scent.
