Liquid -NARS - Sheer Glow Foundation

Rec'd this via RAOK from another MUAer, but I would purchase this again had I bought it in the first place! (Which I do plan on, actually, I have a Sephora GC and also, it's VIB time!) I have this in Deauville, and I'm a NW20 for reference. I like this because it wears with a satin finish, and it's just a great formulation. I don't know if I buy into the whole improving your skin thing but it feels rich, and for the most part, I'm not a HE makeup person, but this wows me. Too bad it's $42! I have heard that Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation is a DS dupe though, and I did recently pick that up, however it is not oil free, ladies. I hope it's a good pick though.

Foundations -Sally Hansen - Inspired By Carmindy Natural Beauty Your Skin Makeup ] [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
cracksomeSKULLS 4/14/2010 12:36:00 PM

I was recommended this by another MUAer after I asked for similar but cheaper recs to MUFE HD. Having never actually tried HD I cannot vouche for how similar it is - but I can say this stuff is awesome. Creamy but not emollient consistency, I found a great match with Ecru (Ecru Beige? maybe?) I'm NW20 and wear Deauville in NARS Sheer Glow for reference. The bottle comes with a pump (yes! Please make all foundations this way) and the coverage is what I would call medium yet buildable. Without setting it, I looked kinda dewy and fresh but I get oily breakthrough so I set with Coastal Scents silica powder. I found this at CVS for $12 and I love it, but I know SH is prone to DCing items, so beware if you fall in love with it!

Eyeliner -MAC - Kohl Power in Orpheus
rated 4 of 5

Picked this up yesterday at the CCO and when I tested it on my hand, the color was just amazing. A dark but shimmery color, with a lot of gold/olive shimmer. I paired it with NYX herb up to my crease last night and it really made my hazel eyes pop. I can see this being an everyday color for me. I will say that the liner wears a little fast. It's super creamy and goes on smoothly but I can see where that would lead to decreased wear. CCO had it for $9 and I am very happy that I snagged this! I took one lippie off for the wearability.

Polishes -Essie - Mint Candy Apple

For the first time ever, I took this polish off (about a week old...) and repainted my nails with it again. I cannot get enough of it! I just adore it. Goes on evenly, covers well (I still do the standard 2 coats, though) and I just know I'll keep wearing it through the holidays. Hopefully longer :-) Keep it up Essie!

Liquid -Make Up For Ever - Face & Body Foundation
rated 5 of 5
cracksomeSKULLS 11/11/2009 11:54:00 AM

This is a very premature review, as I only opened by bottle this morning, but I just gotta say, "wow". I like the texture. I know that everyone says it's weird, but the gel-like feel makes me feel like I'm not even wearing anything on my face. I don't like to feel all heavy and mask-like. The scent dissipates after a while, and yes, it does smell a little earthy. So far, zero irritation from me. I picked up 20. I have worn Revlon CS in "buff" and this was a great match for me. However, it seems like it can be somewhat forgiving if you happen to choose wrong, as it is sheer but buildable. After moisturizing, I put down a thin layer of Coastal Scents silica powder to act as a primer, and control any oilies. I then dot the F&B all over, and buff in with my TF retractable kabuki. I don't set it, and continue on with the rest of my face. After about 4 hours of wear, I don't have any breakthrough (combo skin, dry cheeks...) and I look natural, yet polished. This just may be HG in book!

Scrubs -Clearasil - Daily Face Scrub
rated 4 of 5
cracksomeSKULLS 10/25/2009 8:50:00 PM

I love this stuff-got a sample of it and I've just used it as a travel wash. Just today, I thought, it doesn't irritate my face and it's probably easy to find. I'm going to make it my go-to wash. It's classified as a scrub but it's very fine granules and non-irritating. I'm beginning to find that the AHAs help my skin but this is just washed down the drain anyway. It's refreshing too. Can't wait to get a full size container.

Concealers -Maybelline - Superstay
rated 2 of 5

I hate this! I should preface this by saying today is only my first time wearing it but I actually feel like I look gross. I know you all hate that feeling. Then you keep looking in the mirror to find what's wrong. It's definitely the concealer. I'm not a heavy coverage gal to begin with, and perhaps this formula is just too much for me. I really wanted to try that Age Rewind stuff but they were out of the light color, so I grabbed this instead after looking at reviews. Color seems ok but it doesn't blend very nice and seems to have a tendency to "set" too quickly. Word to the wise, a little goes a long way with this product.

Hair Color -Garnier - Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme in 535 Medium Golden Mahogany Brown
rated 5 of 5
cracksomeSKULLS 9/2/2009 9:39:00 AM

This is a great warm medium brown color. I've been virtually every (natural) color in the book, aside from black and after a while, I thought, what's wrong with brown? So I took my level 9 head to the salon for an all over brown with some red in it (think Blair Waldorf from GG). $80 later for an all over, I was very pleased. Two weeks later, I was mousy. I understand that I went from a very light color, but I thought, I can't go back for a retouch - I can't afford it! So I picked this up and went to town. This color makes my pale, cool skin glow. I have blue/green eyes and the contrast just sets them off. I am not sure why I never went with darker hair before, but I just love it. My hair feels smooth and looks glossy, too. I process my hair fairly often and I have zero problems using this box color. Word to the wise, don't snap off that scented oil stuff in front of your face. It hurts your eyes. I will definitely be touching up with this again.

Masks -LUSH - Catastrophe Cosmetic
rated 2 of 5
cracksomeSKULLS 8/12/2009 8:06:00 PM

All I can say is NO for this product. I bought it and had such high hopes for this. If I only write one review for this username (ridemebigsheldon) has my other reviews - it will be for this. Cystic breakouts on my cheeks. Awesome. Too bad since this product seemed so fresh and lovely, and I loved how my skin almost felt powdery afterward. Must have been a film or something, but it just didn't do my skin good. Oh well.

Bronzers -Rimmel - Natural Bronzer - 22 Sun Bronze
rated 4 of 5
cracksomeSKULLS 6/21/2009 11:01:00 PM

I've been using this bronzer for the past few years. I chose it since it was one of the only DS bronzers that I found that didn't have any shimmer to it. Just as other reviews state, it's insanely cheap and you get a good amount (30m) in a nice round pan. The packaging is fairly chintzy but I don't do a lot of moving with my makeup, so that's a non-issue though I did remove a lippie for it. It could be improved. I don't mind the lack of a mirror since I don't use this on the go, either.
