BB Cream -Unlisted Brand - Holika Holika - Petit BB Cream - Moisture SPF30
cowhugger 12/2/2012 10:13:00 AM
This is one of my favorite BB creams. It's difficult to wear it during the summer because the FL heat makes it slide off my face in under 3 hours even with a primer and a setting powder. But I would still use it on a daily basis because it's sooo creamy and blendable that it's super easy to slap on your face while still looking good. The coverage of this BB is unparalleled, I never have to apply concealer with this stuff and my skin certainly isn't the clearest. The finish of this $6 BB is a dewy gorgeousness that I previously thought only my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (I'm in the shade B10) could give me. The staying power when it's cooler out is a lot better than during the summer. Unfortunately, because of my skin tone, I can only wear it during the summer since I'm slightly more tanned. During the winter I'm slightly too pale and this BB only comes in one shade. Other than that I love it and it may sound crazy but the finish it gives is totally comparable to the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and it has SPF 30 while CVA... doesn't. Some cons: It transfers easily onto clothes, sunglasses, etc. so you MUST set it with a powder Dismal lasting power (setting sprays might help)
Cleansers -Formula 10.0.6 - Keep Me Clean Purifying Facial Wipes
cowhugger 12/1/2012 8:56:00 PM
My previous favorite face wipe was the Yes To Cucumbers but ever since trying the Formula 10.0.6 clarifying wipes I don't want to use any other facial wipe. They smell good and they are really moist. The amount of makeup they take off is unparalleled to any other facial wipe I've tried. I've gone through at least three of these so far and I will definitely buy this product again.
Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Strawberry Sorbet
cowhugger 12/1/2012 8:48:00 PM
These are good as a base to put on before applying lipstick because they aren't too thick. The packaging is pretty but as it gets closer to the plastic at the bottom it hurts to put it on and the remaining lip balm gets pushed down to where you can't get it. So the packaging is ultimately impractical. While I don't necessarily like these balms my boyfriend loves them so I will probably end up repurchasing.
Scrubs -Tree Hut - Tree Hut Brazilian Nut Sugar Scrub
cowhugger 12/1/2012 4:36:00 PM
I got this body scrub because my skin was just feeling gross and in a moment of frustration I ran to the supermarket and bought this. I chose Brazilian Nut in particular because it smells SO good. This scrub is fantastic in that it sloughs off all of my gross dead skin and makes my skin feel really nice and smooth. It's a really granular scrub so you have to scrub gently. The only thing I don't like is the packaging. While it's pretty, you have to scoop it out and it can get kind of messy.
Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Expert Face Brush
cowhugger 12/1/2012 1:49:00 PM
This is my favorite foundation brush so far. Albeit it is the only foundation brush I've ever used, besides the Sigma F60. It blends foundation wonderfully, it doesn't shed, and it's easy to wash. I would definitely buy this product again.
Makeup Brushes -Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman - Setting Brush
cowhugger 12/1/2012 1:44:00 PM
The Real Techniques setting brush is perfect for setting my concealer with a powder but I use it most often to apply powder highlight onto my cheekbones. I love this little brush and I would definitely buy this product again. My typical routine with this brush is to set my concealer with it (under the eyes and around the nose) and then use it to apply powder highlight, then I wash it for the next use. I've washed it a number of times and I haven't experience any shedding and it has maintained its original shape.
I got a full size of MISSHA's M B.B. Boomer for free with my first MISSHA order. While this is a horrible primer and does nothing that it's supposed to do (hence the four star rating), it is a fantastic highlighter. I love putting this on my cheekbones. It's so gorgeous and natural looking and since I don't use it for what it's supposed to be used for it will last me a very long time. I use this every time I put on makeup and I don't think I can live without it. It's like a toned down Benefit High Beam and I love it. I'll definitely repurchase although maybe not for full price. I'll wait for one of MISSHA's big sales.
Primer/ Corrector -Korres - Korres Pomegranate Mattifying Face Primer
cowhugger 12/1/2012 12:22:00 PM
I got this as a deluxe sample size. I don't notice the effectiveness of this primer. My makeup didn't stay on longer because of it and not only that but while I apply it, it starts flaking off. I love Korres but I am disappointed in this product. I do love the way it smells though. :)
Brows -Anastasia Of Beverly Hills - Highlighting Brow Kit
cowhugger 12/1/2012 12:19:00 PM
I don't really know how I feel about this brow kit. Before this kit, I never did anything with my brows so I'm not the most experienced with filling in brows and matching the powder colors to my brow hair color. The highlighting part of this kit remains unused. I used to use it as a brow highlight but it's way too shimmery and way too gauche for me. The brow powders on the other hand, I use on a daily basis. I use the two darker colors most often. The powders are richly pigmented and they go on well. My favorite thing about this kit is that, if I'm in a hurry, I can use the three shades for my eyeshadow as well as for my brows. My least favorite thing about it is that the glitter from the highlighter has found its way into the brow powders and the brow powders have sort of chipped off very easily so now there's an ugly little gorge in the middle of them. That's just a superficial complaint though. Overall I'm please with this product. I purchased it over a year ago and I'm not even close to hitting pan. I won't repurchase because I think it has been discontinued and since it was my first brow product, I would like to experiment with brow pens and whatnot. I do think I'll stick with this brand though.
I actually really like this foundation. I mean, it is totally orange and cakey when first applied but if you just work with it and take some time to blend it out (I do this with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush), then it ends up looking really good. I would say the coverage is high and the foundation imparts a subtle dewy sheen that I like a lot. I don't think this foundation would work for anyone who doesn't have yellow undertones. Oh, and I use the shade Clair Light 05. Overall I really like this foundation, more for nights out than daytime wear just because of the high coverage. I won't repurchase this foundation because I'm pretty sure it's discontinued but also because it's not the best foundation out there. I got it on sale at Sephora for about $10 and in that context I'm really pleased with this foundation.
BB Cream -Unlisted Brand - Holika Holika - Peach Girl BB Cream
cowhugger 12/1/2012 11:44:00 AM
I LOVE THIS BB CREAM! It's perfect for summer because it comes with an amazing little pot of a cream blusher/lip color in a gorgeous peach color. The blusher/lippie is built into the lid of the BB, which is genius and perfect for throwing in your purse. The cream pigment glides on wonderfully and it looks so good. I absolutely love that little feature. Anyways, onto the BB cream. I got Holika Holika's Peach Girl BB Cream in the shade #1 Light Beige. It's perfect for my B10 skin. I'd say the coverage is on the low side of medium. The SPF 37 PA++ is awesome too, I need SPF 30 or more on my face so I like that I don't have to put on a sunscreen with this. I love how it looks when applied and it's perfect in every way EXCEPT it made me break out! Every time I wore it for more than one day in a row I got huge gross spots on my face. I do continue to use the blusher it came with although it's more of a summer shade so I haven't used it lately. I might just depot the blusher and try to swap the BB with someone because it really is a lovely BB cream and if it doesn't break you out then I think someone would really enjoy using it.
I bought the small 20 ml version of this BB during one of MISSHA's big sales on their website, which I got in the shade No. 1 Natural Beige. I would say the coverage is medium but it can certainly be built up. It's not the easiest BB to spread around your face but that can be a good thing for me. I like wearing this in the summer because it doesn't easily slide off my face. I have found that BBs that slide seamlessly onto the face slide seamlessly off the face in the matter of a few hours, despite using a primer or a finishing powder. So yeah, love the staying power and the coverage for this BB. I don't love the price though, if I were to repurchase it I would do so during one of MISSHA's big sales. Oh, and the color match is pretty good, I don't know my MAC shade but for Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua I'm a B10.
Liquid -Bourjois - Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation
cowhugger 11/30/2012 7:06:00 PM
I LOVE THIS FOUNDATION! It is hands down the BEST everyday foundation. It's so effortless to apply. I find it's best applied with my fingers because it takes less product to get the most coverage versus putting it on with a foundation brush. I usually use two pumps with a foundation brush and not even a full pump when using my fingers. This foundation is so weightless on the skin and it really feels like I'm not wearing anything on my face. While it is an amazing everyday foundation the coverage is really low so I only like to wear it when I have good skin. I still wear it when I have bad skin but not as often and I wear it with concealer. I think this foundation is more of an everyday foundation (for me, at least) than Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua simply because of the price. While I definitely prefer Vitalumiere Aqua to Healthy Mix Serum, I'm too afraid of using my Vitalumiere Aqua on a more regular basis. I'm definitely going to repurchase this foundation for as long as I can find it online. Just an FYI for those of you in the States (or anywhere else Asos.com ships to) wanting to try this foundation, Asos.com carries it and they offer free shipping.
While this product does give great coverage, I find that it gives me major cake face. It's also REALLY difficult to blend and spread over my face. The packaging makes it really messy to apply since there's no pump. I've heard that it's best applied with a damp sponge so I might try that before totally giving up on it. I won't repurchase because I don't like this foundation and Revlon isn't cruelty-free anymore. :(
I love this mascara! I have it in black and brown. The brown is perfect for everyday wear as it is super natural looking while still giving my lashes some extra "umph." The black one, while not as natural looking as the brown, is still natural looking and it can really be built up for a more dramatic effect. Love these mascaras. I will definitely repurchase if they aren't discontinued. I think they might have been discontinued. If they have then I'm definitely going to try out other Korres mascaras.
