Shampoo -Suave - Professionals Almond & Shea Butter
rated 2 of 5

I really wanted to like this product since I've heard so many raves about it and the reviews are great. However, this shampoo did nothing for me. It made my hair super tangly (even though I only wash my roots/scalp, this made *all* of my hair into a huge knot). I don't feel like it is moisturizing at all. I have fine hair that is dry, and it didn't seem to help the dryness. In fact, it seemed to make it worse. Also, my hair fell out a lot more than usual when I used this. It is too bad, because it smells amazing and is very cheap. I just don't understand how this shampoo has such great reviews!

Treatments (Eye) -Mary Kay - Timewise Firming Eye Cream
rated 4 of 5

I usually buy skin care products from the drugstore based on good reviews here at MUA, but this product was free for me (my mom is a Mary Kay consultant and often gives me products to try) so I thought I would test it out. I'm in my early 20's so I don't have many fine lines, but I do have a couple. I have to say I like the packaging of this product as it gives just the right amount. You only need a little bit of this at a time. I use this both under my eyes and on my forehead. After using it for a few weeks, I have noticed a slight improvement in my fine lines. It is not irritating at all, and I feel completely safe using this around my eyes. It is pretty moisturizing, even if you use a tiny bit. The bottle seems to last forever too. It's not a miracle worker, but it does the job.

Scrubs -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub
rated 5 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/28/2010 11:27:00 PM

So far, I am loving this! Lately my skin has been very acne-prone, and I am always worried about trying new products. This does a great job of cleaning my skin, exfoliating, and keeping the pimples at bay. And I love love love the smell! It has only been a few days but my skin just looks better overall. The cost is good too. If this product keeps working like this, it will be my new HG!

Cleansers -Clean & Clear - Oil Free Foaming Facial Cleanser
rated 2 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/28/2010 10:56:00 PM

I meant to buy the Clean and Clear Foaming Cleanser for sensitive skin because someone had recommended it to me and it looked like it had good reviews on MUA. However, I mistakenly got this cleanser instead. I decided to try it out anyway. The first two days I used this, it seemed to be okay. My skin was already pretty clear, and this seemed to leave my face squeaky clean. I could see that it had potential to dry out your skin, but lately my skin has been oily so it worked out okay. On the third day, I instantly broke out when I used it. I'm not exaggerating when I say that as soon as I washed this off my face, 7-8 bumps automatically appeared on my skin. I don't know what happened, but I will not be using this again. The only good thing about this product for me was the cost.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous mascara
rated 5 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/27/2010 1:35:00 PM

I love this mascara! Good volume, good length, good staying power, great cost. I don't use the waterproof version but this mascara does not flake on me. I love the brush as well. It helps make my lashes appear thicker and makes it easy to curl the lashes a bit. This is my HG.

Styling Products -Johnson & Johnson - No More Tangles - Spray Detangler
rated 5 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:47:00 PM

I love this product! It is definitely not just for kids. I have tried both the Strawberry scented one and the regular (I do prefer the regular). The smell is a bit chemical-y at first but fades to a "clean" smell once you comb it through your hair. I have tried many leave-in conditioners and other detangling products throughout the years and nothing compares to this. Other products always seem to leave my hair flat or greasy. However, when I use this, my hair does not feel weighed down at all. I have been using it since I was little and it is the best for getting knots out in wet hair. It leaves my hair feeling silky and soft, and less damaged in the long run. It was only $3.99! You really can't beat the quality and price of this. I would definitely repurchase this in the future.

Misc Beauty Tools -Crest - crest whitening rinse
rated 5 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:47:00 PM

I love this stuff! I definitely notice a difference within a week of using this product. I have tried Crest Whitestrips but after a couple days my teeth start to hurt. My enamel isn't the greatest and my teeth are fairly sensitive. This whitening rinse gives me the results I want without causing any irritation to my teeth or gums. Also, I bought it for less than $5 at my local Walgreens, which is pretty cheap given the quality. I will be repurchasing.

Conditioner -Unlisted Brand - Aquelle Healing Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:45:00 PM

This product is just so-so. It is like any other conditioner I have used and there doesn't seem to be anything "healing" about it. My hair does feel softer after I use it, but I don't notice much of a difference when combing my hair after a shower. I do like the smell and it was fairly cheap at Sally Beauty Supply. I believe it was under $5. I will use up the rest of the bottle but will probably not repurchase this again.

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Cream Oil Shower
rated 5 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:44:00 PM

I bought the sample size of this in Cherry Blossom and Almond scent (the pink bottle). I think the full size bottles are pricey but they are worth it. I love love love this scent! It makes my skin so soft and smooth and does lather up pretty well. I shave with this too. I agree that it can be a bit thick and clog up the razor but I just wash it off and there is no problem. I don't think I would buy this every time (I am satisfied with my $1 White Rain body wash when it comes to cutting costs) but I will definitely repurchase this in the future.

Gels/Soaps -White Rain - All Day Moisturizing Body Wash
rated 4 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:42:00 PM

White Rain has three different body washes at my local Walgreens for $1: the all day moisturizing, refreshing ocean mist, and energizing citrus. All three are great! Normally I buy the ocean mist (blue) or energizing citrus (pink) because I like both of the scents. They lather pretty well and are good for shaving. You really can't get better quality for the price. I normally buy this every time I run out, unless I feel like splurging on a creamier type body wash (like Dove). However, I rate it a 4 instead of 5 because it lacks the variety of scents I like from Dove and also is not *quite* as moisturizing. All in all though, a great body wash.

Shampoo -Aveda - Blue Malva Shampoo & Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:41:00 PM

I bought this shampoo awhile back because I used to make mistakes all the time when dying my hair blond. It never seemed to make much of a difference in neutralizing brassy tones. Also, I find that it can be somewhat drying. I don't have much need for this type of shampoo since I have gotten better at coloring my hair, but I have still used it from time to time and never really notice any special qualities. My hair is always exactly the same tone after using it. It does smell nice and clean. I don't remember the price but I don't think it was very expensive. I will probably not repurchase. The bottle I have now is still pretty full and I'm not sure I will finish it.

Self Tanners -Nivea - Sunkissed Skin Firming Gradual Tan (body)
rated 5 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:40:00 PM

I really like this lotion. I think it is better than the majority of gradual tanning lotions out there, mainly because the smell is not as offensive. It is kind of sweet, a little peachy, and does not tend to linger throughout the day as I've noticed with other brands. The tanning is pretty gradual but I do notice a difference, especially when I stop using it for a few days. I have pale skin with yellow undertones, so without a little bit of color I tend to look sickly. I use the medium-dark version because I notice more of a difference. It doesn't turn me orange at all. I do wish it came in a bigger bottle because I go through it so fast. Also, it would be nice if it were cheaper but I guess it is the same price or maybe a bit lower than similar products so it doesn't bother me too much. I buy this whenever I run out, it is now a staple of mine.

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Preference Shine Extending Hair Color
rated 5 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:39:00 PM

This is one of my favorite hair dyes. I also like Garnier Nutrisse, but I tend to prefer Preference for blonde shades. I color my hair a lot, and have probably used half of the shades from this brand. I have had the best luck with the reddish-brown shades and lighter blond shades. They have always turned out beautifully. I did notice with the darker shades that they would fade after a few weeks, but I think it is because I was doing dark browns over light blonde hair. Even when I went to a salon this would happen so I don't blame this on the dye alone. Currently, I use the Light Ash Blonde just for my roots. It is easy to apply and I do not find Preference to be damaging as long as you use the conditioner that comes with it (which is great). The smell can be a bit over-powering but I find this is the case with most dyes. The consistency is a little runny (this is one reason I like Garnier dyes in comparison) but it is never a huge problem for me. I wish the price were a bit lower (Garnier is a few dollars cheaper) but all in all I like this brand and it is a staple for me.

Concealers -Mary Kay - concealer
rated 5 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:37:00 PM

I love this concealer! I am 24 and have been using this product since I was 12. I use beige and it has a little bit of a yellow undertone which works well with my skin tone. I have always had dark circles under my eyes, and this works very well to cover them without disappearing mid-day. It also works well with covering redness. It is thick but not cake-y. A little bit goes a long way. This is my HG, I highly recommend it.

Eyeliner -Prestige - Classic Kohl Eyeliner in E-71 Rhapsody
rated 5 of 5
cowbeIIyoursocksoff 7/17/2010 8:36:00 PM

Prestige carries some of my favorite eyeliners. Rhapsody is one of them. It is a deep but bright blue shade that makes my eyes pop! My eyes are blue but can look green or grey-ish depending on lighting and makeup. I normally can't wear blue eyeliners, but this is dark enough that it doesn't compete with my eyes and the contrast looks amazing. This product is great quality for the price; it is very inexpensive. It goes on smoothly and is very pigmented. I do notice that this color tends to smudge a little more than the other colors I have for some reason. However, it helps if I dab a little eyeshadow along the lash line before I apply. Overall, a great eyeliner and I will definitely be repurchasing.
