I hear RANTS and RAVES about this product so I thought I would give it a try. I have extremely sensitive, acne prone skin with mild rosacea. I heard that mineral makeup was one of the best things for my skin type. Soooo I decided to try the "get started" pack in fair. The coverage is very light and didn't look natural. It make be because my skin is a bit oily. After few hours I noticed that this product gave me a flare up. BAD flare up. I'm not sure which ingredient might have caused it but i have heard a lot of other women having trouble with their product line as well. Calling tomorrow to see if I can't get this returned for a refund. The packaging is also terrible but it's like all other mineral makeups. It goes everywhere.

Liquid -Clinique - Redness Solutions Makeup SPF 15 with Probiotic Technology
rated 2 of 5

I have rosacea and have been looking for ANYTHING to cover the redness without contributing to the flare up. This product did not cover the redness and irritated my skin and caused it to flush more. I also have acne and this product didn't break me out - which was a plus. The cover is alright but the color matching is difficult. Even the lightest shade on my skin was too dark and I am not extremely fair skinned. This product does not cover the redness like it advertises. NEXT.

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 - Oil Free
rated 1 of 5

So first off, I was diagnosed with rosacea this year. I also have acne and take prescription medications both topical and oral. I looked everywhere for information on individuals with my condition that had tried this. It was recommended by a rosacea board so i figured i would splurge and give it a try. I've tried so many different products but they all seem to give me a flare up. THIS PRODUCT WAS HORRIBLE. As soon as i put on this product it gave my face a burning sensation. I believe it was either the silicon or the SPF in the moisturizer. It also caked on and make my pores look extremely large. For girls with perfect skin who are just looking to even out their skin tone a little more this product might work for you. For those who are extremely sensitive and either have acne, rosacea - STEER CLEAR. Not only did i have a reaction to this product, for the price it did not offer great coverage and did not last long.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Atralin
rated 3 of 5
courtpb 7/24/2011 12:56:00 AM

This is a ridiculously priced tretinoin product!! The only reason I have it is because I had a discount card that brought the price down!! I did help clear my acne about 70% in 6 months. I have switched to a generic that works just fine and has the same effect. Thank goodness I work in a pharmacy and get to talk to people who know the chemical differences between products. A lot of insurance companies consider this a specialty drug or highest brand copay drug which means you pay a lot more for it. This is because there are tretinoin creams and gels that are similar to Atralin. Atralin is the only GEL tretinoin topical on the market that is 0.05% but there is a generic tretinoin cream that's so much cheaper. If you have insurance, consider yourself lucky because one tube costs over $200 retail!! You can get the same results if you use the generic cream. The only thing you do have to watch out for is drying. Yes, there tends to be more drying with the cream but if you apply it sparingly and use a facial moisturizer your skin will usually get use to the medication and the flakiness subsides... With insurance, I would repurchase this. Without it, NO WAY because the cream does just as well.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Acanya
rated 4 of 5
courtpb 7/24/2011 12:47:00 AM

This product works well to help acne. I've had moderate acne since I was a teenager and have used a lot of topical and oral antibiotic treatments. Acanya, which is a benzoyl peroxide treatment/clindamycin topical cream/gel based consistency worked alright to help my acne blemishes. It is really helpful to use in conjuction with a topical steroid like retin a or trentinoin cream. You do see results, but it usually takes several months. It took around 2.5 months for me to see good results. I don't have cystic acne, so I can't vouge for how long it takes to work on those. My acne has cleared up about 70% since I started using the product in January. I don't really think that this is good news considering Acanya runs at about $200 a 50g tube without insurance. This is in no way a miracle product, or it wasn't for me. You should really look into your insurance co-pays before you run off to the derm. and get a prescription for this. It's can be a pretty high copay. It has the same active ingredients as Benzaclin, which now has a generic. The only difference is that the benzoyl peroxide content is 5% instead of 2.5%. This means that it can be a little bit harsher on the face. If you apply the pea sized amount that is suggested and use a moisturizer the effects aren't really noticably different. Most insurance companies will pay for the generic Benzaclin for a generic copay. Overall, I rate this product a 4 because it DOES help treat acne, but is by no means a miracle product. I have repurchased, but without insurance, there would be NO WAY I'd pay the extra dough when I can get Benzaclin generic for A LOT cheaper.

Skincare - Face -Pro Activ - 3-Step System
rated 1 of 5
courtpb 7/23/2011 8:30:00 PM

This product did absolutely NOTHING for my skin. I used it for several months with no effect whatsover. Now, I am taking oral medication and using topical prescription creams for my acne. I think that this is a total sham. The benzoyl peroxide can irritate your face if you're not careful. This help a little with my body acne but literally did NOTHING for my face. You need to be cautious too when you purchase on the internet becaue they will sign you up for an automatic shipping that sends out shipments every few months and charges your credit card. There is now a generic at Wal-Mart that you can get for a FRACTION of the price if you want to try it.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
rated 3 of 5
courtpb 7/23/2011 8:26:00 PM

I really like this product! I use an acne mask every once in a while. I take acne medication and use topical ointments and creams so I have to be careful how many times I use this because it can really dry your face out. But this makes my face glow and I love it, it really brings my pimples to a head. I use it with a mint mask cream in order to get a good base in order to get it to stay on my face. I leave it on for about 15 minutes. The only complait that I have is that its hard to apply alone you need some kind of base. It can also get in your nose and make you sneeze!

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
rated 3 of 5
courtpb 7/23/2011 8:23:00 PM

I use this product every once in a while with aspirin tablets as an acne mask. I have moderate acne and take prescription medications. This really helps to minimize the appearance of my pores and makes my skin feel tighter. However, if you're not careful, this can dry your face out if you use it everyday. I definitely recommend using a facial moisturizer after this product if you've got sensitive skin. This wasn't a miracle product, but it did help bring some of my pimples to a head. Oh, and the smell is great!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
rated 2 of 5
courtpb 7/23/2011 8:20:00 PM

So, if you're into that "I want my eyelashes to look stuck together look" then this is the product FOR YOU! I am always looking to try new mascaras and I bought this one on a whim. The brush is horrible for starters. It didn't give me any volume or lash definition. It got all over my top and bottom lashes because the brush is plastic and big. The product stays on all day but it made my lashes clump and stick together. I'm more of a natural eyelash person and this just didn't cut it.

Shampoo -Aussie - Moist Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
courtpb 7/23/2011 8:15:00 PM

Aussie is serioulsy THE best drug store line shampoo I have ever tried!! I was very skeptable about purchasing this product in the first place as I am a person that spends a whole heck of a lot on hair products. Having said this, when I brought this home I didn't have high hopes. This product worked great!! My hair is a dried frizzy mess from years of dying, living in the south and having naturally thick hair. This made my hair extremely soft and wonderful smelling. It comes in a pump and I love it because it lasts forever and all I have to do is push down. Give this a try if you are looking for something to moisturize deprived hair.

Treatments -Aussie - 3 Minute Miracle Deeeeep
rated 5 of 5
courtpb 7/23/2011 8:12:00 PM

I love this product!! I have dyed my hair for years (in so much, that I didn't know my natural color until a few months ago). When I decided to grow my hair out long I knew I was going to have to do some rethinking in how I took care of my hair. I saw great reviews of this on MakeUpAlley and YouTube and decided to give it a shot. At what, $4 a bottle, why not? I was so pleasantly suprised!! I have spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on high end shampoos and conditions and this is literally the best one I have tried. It only takes 3 minutes in the shower and my hair is soft and manageable. And it smells great!! If you're looking for a product to try, I highly recommend this! you won't be dissapointed! The only complaint I have about this product is the packaging did leak a little. It still lasted me about 3 months though.

Powder -Neutrogena - Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Loose Powder
rated 2 of 5
courtpb 7/23/2011 8:07:00 PM

This is by far one of the worst powder foundations I have ever owned. It doesn't stay on and I can whip it off litterally 30 minutes after application. I have extremely oily, acne prone skin. This DID NOT break me out... I'm not sure if it's because of the ingredients of the product or for the sheer fact that it didn't stay on my face long enough to break me out. Don't waste your money on this product. If you are looking for sheer coverage, you might as well wear no makeup at all if you are considering this product. This made my face extremly oily looking too! At $12, it was a total waste.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 4 of 5
courtpb 7/21/2011 11:46:00 PM

So, I heard GREAT things about this product and the fact that they were sold out practically everywhere (in store and online) I thought that was a good sign. At $42 I was a little skeptical at first because that seems like a lot of money for some eyeshadow. Boy am I so glad I took the chance. I absolutely LOVE this palette and can see why everyone else likes it so much! The shades are beautiful! The only thing is some are really shimmery, and I have oily skin, so I have to be careful how much I use. These colors don't crease and last all day. I apply to my eyeliner to set it and it looks terrific. If you are looking to spend a little more for some good eyeshadows, I really recommend this product.

Eyeliner -MAC - MAC Liquid Liner
rated 1 of 5
courtpb 7/21/2011 11:41:00 PM

Horrible product!! Not only is it EXTREMELY expensive, but it is so watery that you have a hard time keeping it from running down your face. It didn't stay on all day, came off in a few hours. It actually irritated my eyes. I'm a contact wearer and warn those who wear as well to be very catious when using this product. There are SO many other cheaper liners out there that work so much better. I have very oily lids and a liquid liner is pretty much the only thing that will stay throughout the day(8+)!! Just not this liquid liner!

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
rated 2 of 5
courtpb 7/21/2011 11:35:00 PM

Ok, so for starters I have oily, acne prone skin AND I wear contacts. Having this combination makes it ridiculous to find an eyeliner that works. I like to use a waterproof gel or liquid eyeliner for the top lids but I like to put some liner on my waterline as well. My friends ranted and raved about this product so I decided to give it a try. At what, $18, I though that was a little high but I tried Urban's NAKED palet and LOVED it so I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. This is just as good as a department store eyeliner for my skin type and for contacts. I found that it ran down by face only about 3-4 hours into my day (I am not a chronic eye rubber, either). I normally apply eyeshadow over the eyeliner to help it stay in place... it did NOT good for this eyeliner. I truly wanted to love this because it cost so much, but I just cannot find myself repurchasing this product. Another aspect: If you like smudy and a less precise appearance for eyeliner, than this is probably a better product than other department store eyeliners. This eyeliner is better for a smokey eye, and it is way too creamy to sharpen to a point with a sharpener. If you like precise lines, this is a NO GO.
