Polishes -Sally Hansen - Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Rockstar Pink
coursoncharm 8/23/2011 6:08:00 PM
I have a pretty big nail polish collection and Sally Hansen is my favorite (better imo than OPI, China Glaze, Essie etc). This glitter is more opaque than my other glitter polishes from more expensive brands! Full glitter in 2 coats. Plus, the wear on Sally polishes is great, I never get chipping, just some fading on the tips from wear.
Eyeliner -Hard Candy - Stroke of Gorgeous liner- All

This is based on the purple shade, Storm. I was excited to see a purple felt tip liner, but was thoroughly disappointed after swatching and applying. The felt tip feels like a stiff marker tip and also applies exactly like a Crayola marker would look on skin. A sheer, uneven purple color. Doesn't even look purple and if it doesn't show up true to color on my fair skin, it can only get worse from there. Just awful - won't be trying the other shades.
I use this brow pencil everyday. It's the perfect shade for me because I have auburn hair and this pencil has some red to it. But obviously that won't apply to everyone. I wouldn't consider this a dark brown, it's more medium brown. Might want to go wih the black if you want a darker color. Since the pencil is pretty hard, it gives a natural look when applied - not cakey looking and obviously drawn on. My brother even said, "does it feel weird to have eyebrows again? you finally stopped messing with them." Funny funny, but really it was this pencil haha. Plus, the little brush on the cap is great for blending. Love!
I apply this with a flat top kabuki and I love the smooth medium coverage, dewy finish and creamy texture. The downside is the lightest shade was too orange for my skin and it starts to break down after a few hours, and I dont have oily skin. I also don't feel like theres a lot of product in there with the deceiving packaging (the bulk of the compact is the compartment for the sponge) but compared to another cream foundation (Revlon Photoready Compact .35 oz), it actually has more (.49 oz).
Eyeliner -Maybelline - Line Stiletto liquid eyeliner
coursoncharm 8/21/2011 4:40:00 PM
This is my favorite liquid liner. I have it in brownish black and its perfect for daytime on my fair skin - not as harsh. I love the flexible felt tip. I usually have trouble applying liquid liners because my lashes are naturally curly and the wand tickles my lashes, but the flexible tip is perfect. I can do perfect winged liner in seconds. Really cut down the time I spend applying liner (and with a 3 month old, every second counts). Love love love !
The wand is just too gigantic! I have pretty long lashes and usually dont have a problem with bigger wands, but its just too big! I couldnt even see what i was doing and its hard to work with. I dont know why they would make it so big. My lashes are naturally curly (a little too curly, the outer lashes almost come full circle making them look shorter, ugh!) so i cant comment on how well it holds a curl. The formula wasnt too wet but the wand had a little too much product and I haf to scrape it off on the side on the tube. Shouldve read the reviews before I bought it :/
Pressed Powders -Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder (ALL)
coursoncharm 8/20/2011 11:39:00 PM
At first, I wasnt going to purchase this because Ive been afraid to waste more money on Rimmel face products after trying the terrible Stay Matte foundation. But my Target had a bogo free sale, so I went for it. Definitely ten steps up from its foundation counterpart! Makes my foundation matte and gives my skin a poreless finish. I had a cashier tell me that my skin looked like a porcelain doll! Has a nice, clean scent and I find myself not having to touch up (I dont have oily skin though). My favorite pressed powder. Only downfall is the packaging, its a twist off top, but I can just pop the top off without twisting, not purse friendly .
Concealers -Hard Candy - Nobody's Perfect concealer palette
coursoncharm 8/20/2011 11:26:00 PM
HC has some good products, but this isnt one of them. For starters, theyre all very oily (except for the darkest concealer shade for some reason, which feels dried out and has a major cake factor). Plus, its like a sheer concealer, who wants a sheer concealer? The color correctors might as well just not exist. Its like putting a clear gloss over problem areas. Ironically, HC makes the best and worst drugstore concealer. For $2 more, get HC Glamoflauge - FULL coverage and a little goes a long way, tube will last forever!
Didnt have very good coverage for undereye circles.. or anything else actually. It felt kind of greasy and creased under my eyes and that never has been a prpblem before. There are definitely better drugstore concealers (like Hard Candy Glamoflauge - full coverage, little goes a long way and only $6).
People are overexaggerating on the glitter factor. Its very light and I cant even notice it when its applied. I promise you wont look like something from Twilight. The texture is a VERY soft creme (removed the screen to check). Because of that I feel like Ill run out of this foundation very quickly, which sucks considering this was a $12 DS foundation. The coverage is very flawless IMO, and the finish is natural - not overly dewy or matte. Plus, Ivory was one of the only perfect matches for my paper white skin that ive found in a drugstore foundation (the other was CG natureluxe in Alabaster). Not a bad foundation but theres not much product for the price.
Definitely the best concealer Ive used. A little goes a long way! People that are calling this concealer cakey are probably using way too much. the tiniest little dot covers my undereye circles, redness, blemishes etc. Ive seen YT demo reviews of this compared to the Kat VonD tattoo concealer and the HC actually covered BETTER. Packaging is the perfect squeeze tube and itll be forever before I run out. As far as shades, the light shade blended perfectly into my NW15 skin, and for $6, it cant be beat!
Lipstick -Cover Girl - Lip Perfection Lipstick in Delish
coursoncharm 8/20/2011 12:24:00 AM
I bought a bunch of these because I Iove the texture (feels gel based?) of them and the staying power (stains your lips, which I like but some dont). At first I hated this shade because I was applying it too heavy and giving myself an orange lip against my NW15 skin. But when applied lightly, its the perfect natural nude. No concealer lip here. Plus, the packaging doesnt look DS at all, and for $5 (at my w*mart) theyre very affordable. I also use the pinks from this collection as a blush since they will stay forever, I just dab my brush on the lipstick and apply lightly. I dont have acne prone skin though, so not sure how it might affect those that do.
Masks -Clean & Clear - Blackhead Eraser Cleansing Mask
coursoncharm 8/20/2011 12:14:00 AM
Its not the best, but its also not the worst. I have pretty normal skin, but this didnt "erase" any blackheads - though I didnt expect it to. I do like this though because my face looks smooth and poreless once I wash it off, so thats a plus. Has a slight cooling effect but nothing major.
if you have fair skin, dont even think about it. just an ugly, super frosty mess that looks completely ridiculous and sucks the life out of your face. maybe you could dab it in the center of your lips on top of an actual good lipstick, but thats about the only purpose this lipstick could serve besides roommate to the rotten potato salad in the trash .
i didnt know this was a frosty shade when i ordered it or i wouldnt have gotten it (online swatches are terrible). im not dissing ALL of the nyx lipsticks though, because they do have some great colors, but harmonica isnt one of them. pale, frosty lipsticks = dull skin & yellow teeth. end of story. not only did the color not match the color of the stick when applied, but my lips looked like a straight up disco ball. no matter how light/heavy i applied it, it was just ugly. i held on to it for some reason but i hear the garbage calling its name.
