Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30
cookiequack 8/26/2010 12:46:00 AM
I have very thin, sensitive, and acne-prone skin with unbalanced hormones especially near those oh-so-horrible monthly days. I heard pretty good reviews and I've always wanted to try it - so here it is, in my hand! I was really scared putting it on because I was concerned about the high rating on the EWG website, AND since I breakout easily, but I just gave it a go one day and decided it wasn't too bad. So far, I LIKED how it was a very light creamy texture that absorbed very fast, didn't breakout my skin( so far ), and didn't feel as heavy as other sunscreens. I DIDN'T LIKE how the fragrance was too much for me to handle; from the bottle, it smelled light and I thought it wouldn't cause problems.. but when it was on my face, it gave me a slight headache for a while, until the smell faded away. arrgh. Also, for some reason it made my face a little bit more pinkish red, so that was a definite no-no for me. Overall I wouldn't buy this again - I really wanted to like it! :'( I just wish there was no fragrance, didn't make my face pinkish, and wasn't so harsh on the chemicals.. I guess I'm still on the lookout for a safer zinc/titanium dioxide based sunscreen/sunblock : However, my relatives have tried it and they said it was fine(they don't have as sensitive skin) - unfortunately for those extremely sensitive-skin people out there, let's find a better sunscreen together! :'D

Liquid -Annabelle - SkinTrue Natural Lightweight Makeup

I have sensitive, thin, acne-prone skin and I have some redness on my cheeks and a few acne here and there. I bought this for around 8-9 dollars at a local drugstore - there were only 4/5 colours to choose from. I chose medium beige, because I tested it on my hand using the sample. As I'm wearing this at home right now, it feels comfortable, and it's not bad. It was a TAD bit darker than I hoped - maybe because I used to use my other foundation(but now it's too expensive) and I was used to having a bit 'lighter' skin. It's very smooth, but a bit harder to blend in compared to my other foundation. It also covered up my dark circles all right, but for my cheeks you could TELL that I had put on skin makeup which I absolutely didn't like. I'm also worried about 'breaking out' because of the reviews in here saying it was okay for a while, but got worse later.. but I'll give an update a few weeks later. I also don't like the fact that there's so many parabens and talc in it - but there's also 'nice' sounding ones too: glycerin, aloe vera gel, flower leaf extract As of now, I'm going to say that this foundation isn't bad - it's smooth, lightweight, a decent amount of foundation, oil-free.. but there could be a better variety of skin tones to choose from and maybe less parabens if possible. I might buy it again if it was a TAD bit lighter - but I miss my Revlon new foundation.. the only reason why I bought this was because it was cheaper. I just hope this foundation doesn't make my skin orange after 6 hours.. 3/5 for now ~ UPDATE: Two weeks ago, I broke out like in many small, red, itchy and inflamed bumps of doom after using this product. The first week was great - it matched my skin quite well, felt smooth, easy to apply, and lightly comfortable. The second week I started noticing redness, and I thought it was just girl 'hormonal' issues - but I think the foundation added to my breakout, and it took me a while to heal. As a result, I ended up buying my old, more expensive drugstore foundation : I'd say not to purchase this product again, unless you have extremely good skin that never breaks out to anything. I wish it didn't break me out, I really wanted to like it : ( I just wasted nine dollars; Sigh.

Treatments -Biore - Pore Cleansing Strips - Nose
cookiequack 3/8/2010 10:05:00 PM
I have some blackheads and a lot of blemishes on my nose (acne, small pus-filled pimples, etc) and I was desperate to get them off. My skin is sensitive, so I was scared to try them since it said not to put them on acne/etc - but I did it anyway : p At first when I peeled off the non-sticky paper, the pore strip felt really un-sticky, and totally cheap looking. I lightly steamed my face for 10 minutes and after immediately put it on - it felt really odd for some reason.. After it was dry, I slowly peeled it off. Oh man, the pain. Considering that my skin is sensitive, of course it hurt a lot :( But I endured it just to see what came off. On the pore strip I saw almost nothing :'( Instead I saw my black hairs on the strip, and maybe one or two MINOR blackheads; but that's it. I was disappointed, but maybe that's because it's my first try at pore strips. My nose did feel a little bit itchy and uncomfortable, so I immediately slathered natural honey on my nose, and wherever else I put the nose strip on. I bought this on sale for around 8 dollars for 8 strips.. so for a one dollar strip, I'd say it's unfortunately a miss. ARGH I really wanted this to work on my nose! But maybe it'll work for people with large pores. I'd say that I won't buy this again, maybe I'll use a scrub or something after I finish this box. If my pores become larger, maybe I'll buy it again. I'll probably use more face masks/peels or something. 3/5 ~

Liquid -Revlon - New Complexion Makeup

As a teenager, I use foundations that will mainly help cover dark circles, eyebags, and redness on my cheeks. I have very sensitive, acne prone skin that is mildly combination-dry. I bought this at half price because it was on clearance, in sand beige. This is my second foundation that I've ever used in my life so far, so I'm still looking out for the perfect shade - my last foundation was too light and it creased in the wrong areas. The quality of the product was pretty good because it covered my redness and dark circles pretty evenly, but obviously it didn't help a lot with the eyebags - I just need a good eye cream : ) The foundation definitely didn't break me out, and it felt like I was wearing nothing with comfortable coverage. Personally, I think I need to find a better colour though, because it didn't match up perfectly - I could tell that my face was a slightly different colour than my hands. My skin tone is more yellow, while this is a more white-pinkish tone. By the end of the day, my skin looks a bit washed off though, because I only wear moisturiser and foundation. The foundation wears off slightly, and the makeup looks more 'obvious'. I think overall, it's a very good, affordable foundation that has good coverage for a teenager like me, and I like it's non-irritating, comfortable texture. I would buy it again, ONLY if I can't find anything else better, and if they had a better skin tone colour. I just wish it was less expensive : \

Masks -Freeman - Feeling Beautiful - Facial CLAY MASK Avocado & Oatmeal
cookiequack 2/10/2010 11:14:00 PM
For a highschooler with very sensitive skin, I'd say it was pretty good. I heard so many good reviews about this particular mask, so I really wanted to try it. The texture was REALLY smooth, cooling, and was gentle enough for my skin. I was scared about the irritation because I heard some people said they had some stinging on their blemishes, but I had no irratation so that's a plus : ) The mask also firmed up my face a little, but after I washed it the 'firming'ness was gone : ( Overall, I liked how it was gentle, affordable enough for a highschooler, and had a fair amount of product. I didn't like how the mask dried up TOO fast though - as I was putting it on my face, it started drying up already and that wasn't too nice, because I had to waste a bit of product : ( Also, I have a bit dry skin so it wasn't that moisturizing, but then again it didn't make my face tight - I'd just prefer if the mask gave my face some moisturizing properties.. After all, there IS avocado in it right? I would recommend this to people, and I think it's good enough for young teenagers who are starting to take care of their skin as well - it was gentle for me! : ) 4/5 ~

Scrubs -Unlisted Brand - BeFine - Pore Refining Treatment Scrub
cookiequack 12/31/2009 3:37:00 PM
I got this scrub on sale for a few dollars, so it was really cheap. When I first tried it, it had a really nice, mild, fresh citrus smell that I really liked, and the texture was smooth and white. I liked how it was gentle for my very sensitive skin and didn't irritate it. After using the scrub, it felt nice and clean : D However, there was BARELY any micro-beads - there were probably like, 4 micro-beads per dime-sized squirt of the scrub. That was very disappointing : ( Overall, I liked how it wasn't irritating, it was pretty moisturizing, I felt a small difference in my skin, and it smelled really fresh and nice. I didn't like how there were so little micro-beads - what's the point of a scrub when there's nothing to exfoliate with? And on top of that, the packaging is very fooling - the box is a lot larger, while the scrub is not as big as I thought it would be. I would recommend this, but if it's not on sale I most definitely won't get this again. 3/5 ~

Cleansers -Freeman - Good Stuff Organics Foaming Facial Cleanser
cookiequack 12/31/2009 3:24:00 PM
Okay first of all, I'm a highschooler and I have VERY sensitive, thin, and easily dry(but if I'm wearing too much skin products, it gets too oily - lucky right?) skin. Ocasionally I break out(probably due to hormones and pH imbalances) and right now, I'm beginning to try and take care of my skin. I use a cleanser when I get home to take off makeup - I only wear foundation or concealer. The first thing I noticed was that it smelled really good, like a bunch of 'berry' fruits : ) but I'm also really sensitive to smell, so it was a little bit too strong, but it's probably fine for others. When I tried this cleanser, it was already foamed up, which was nice, and it felt REALLY gentle and light - but I don't know if it removed the dirt off my face.. Maybe it's a bit TOO light. But the 'foam' didn't last long(maybe foaming cleansers are just like that, but I'm not sure) which I didn't like, because I want my face squeaky clean. Overall, this cleanser is pretty good, and the price is very affordable for someone beginning to take care of their skin. The pump is very good and it's stable, the cleanser is gentle, and it didn't irritate my VERY sensitive face. I've used this cleanser for about a week, only if I'm wearing foundation/concealer. The only things I didn't like was that I wasn't sure if my face was clean or not, the smell was a bit on the strong side for me, and the foam dissolved very quickly. Oh yeah, and the packaging is nice : ) I like how there's something to cover the pump, instead of a box like Aveeno or something. The size is very fair, it's not too small as well. 200mL. I would recommend this to somebody, but I would not buy this product again BECAUSE I want to try other products; I'm thinking of trying some gel cleansers. If I can't find anything, then I'll resort back to this one. : ) EDIT: Okay this time I actually put foundation on my skin, used the cleanser, and rubbed some toner on it - the toner pad I used showed that the cleanser removed around 95% of my foundation! yaaay : )) And also, the scent that I complained about has been getting less stronger each use, so now I don't mind the smell at all and enjoy the fruity-ness : D Update after a long time: I still really love this cleanser and I haven't bought anything else other than this one - I ended up not wanting to try other things, and it was on sale for 4 dollars! I'm so happy that it works, it's gentle, not irritating for my skin, and it's relatively cheap! I'm currently on my 2nd bottle, and I've bought another one because it was selling out(only 3 left on the shelf). I'd defnitely buy it agan ~ 4/5, pretty good!
