Treatments -La Roche Posay - Effaclar Duo
comma 1/23/2011 6:51:00 PM
I am glad there are so many good reviews for this product, however my experience was not a good one. I have oily, sensitive, acne prone skin (I suffer primarily from blackheads). I've used a lot of products with AHA, BHA, Lactic acid before and nothing has bothered me too much aside from a little bit of stinging initially. I have used other products in the Effaclar line with no problems. This product, however, stung like no other. It made my face ache, there is no other word. For the entire day while wearing this product, my face would hurt if I touched it. I gave it a few tries, thinking I would maybe get used to it but I had no such luck. Something in this seriously bothered my skin, maybe I was even allergic to it? I think the concept for this product is great, and that's what got me to try it. It seems to work for a lot of MUAers, which is wonderful, but I would strongly encourage those thinking of buying to request a sample from the beauty counter first.

Treatments -Avene - Cleanance K
comma 1/23/2011 6:32:00 PM
Okay, let me just say I had tried this product before and I was not super impressed but it worked well enough that I decided to try it again. I bought a new tube just over a month ago, and this time it said "new formula" on the package. New formula, indeed! The texture has been much improved. It is not as sticky as the old formula, nor does it flake so much after applying (I have successfully worn this during the day under liquid foundation, which is something I never would have attempted with the old formula). This new formula is definitely much more pleasant to use. It still has a bit of a scent. I wouldn't say it's bad...but it's not pretty or anything. It doesn't bother me though and it doesn't last for long. Because of the AHA/BHA, this product can sting a little bit once applied, but again, it doesn't last long and my skin has been building a tolerance for it. Well, does it work? I have been using this product every night (more or less) for about a month now and I have definitely seen an improvement in my skin. My pores are smaller, my skin looks smoother, and my overall skintone is more even. I still get the occasional breakout but this seems to be keeping things at bay. I think it's working! Especially on my blackheads. This is pretty amazing, as nothing seems to get rid of them! I will keep using and update later :)

Pressed Powders -Cover FX - Cover FX - Matte FX
comma 12/16/2010 2:52:00 AM
This is a great setting powder. I don't apply this as Cover FX suggests (they suggest you use it as a blotter before applying mineral foundation on top). Instead, I use it to set my liquid foundation. There are 2 things I absolutely love about this product: 1) Matte but super natural finish that lasts most of the day (better than most powders anyway) 2) It really is transluscent! I have fair skin and use the light shade. It does not appear to add any colour at all and it doesn't look white or cakey. I really do prefer liquid foundations, but having oily skin, there is no way I could last a day without setting my makeup with powder. Also, because finding a shade of foundation is so tricky, the last thing I want is to add more colour or change the overall effect of my makeup by applying a powder over top! This product meets these needs perfectly. Cons: The price. A little expensive. Also, I know this is a pressed powder, but it takes quite a bit of effort to pick up a decent amout with a brush! Other than that, if you are an oily skin looking for a transluscent setting powder, give this one a try!

Styling Products -SAMY - Fat Hair Zero "0" Calories Amplifying Hair Spray
comma 12/15/2010 7:17:00 PM
My favorite hairspray ever! Really does add a lot of volume, and the hold is good. Like the others say, a little goes a very long way. Be careful not to overdo it or your hair will become crunchy! If you do happen to over-spray, it brushes out nicely so I don't really consider it to be too much of a problem. When sprayed lightly, and evenly, I find it leaves my hair looking natural and it holds curl well. This hairspray also works great to hold messy buns/up-dos. I know this is a personal thing, but I can't believe other reviewers hate the smell of this product so much. I think it smells great, though if you are someone who hates products with any sort of fragrance whatsoever this probably isn't for you as the smell is quite strong and lingers throughout the day. Because I like the smell, I see this as a positive though. I've received so many complements on how my hair smells when I use this hairspray, particularly from men. My boyfriend, who typically hates fake smelling perfumes of any kind, always says my hair smells nice when I wear this. My only complaint about the packaging would be that the nozzle tends to clog up sometimes. Otherwise, I think this is a great product.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Soap & Glory - Girligo Spray-On Body Moisturising Mist
comma 8/25/2010 4:52:00 PM
I really like this. The scent is absolutely beautiful, and it lasts a long time too. My skin doesn't need too much moisture so I love that it's fairly lightweight. Sinks in very quickly and doesn't leave me feeling sticky like cream moisturizers. Be careful how you spray though, this can definitely make the bathroom floor very slippery! Mostly, I use this right out of the shower, after I shave my legs. It makes them feel and look very smooth. In the shower, I also use Soap & Glory's Clean on Me shower gel, which smells exactly the same. Kinda like Miss Dior Cherie. Sooo pretty :) One lippie off for the packaging...I don't mind that I have to rub this in even though it's a spray. I don't find it sprays evenly enough to just leave it but part of the reason it doesn't spray evenly is that the bottle is really hard to hold on to! I like that it's a spray but the bottle needs some more grip. Otherwise, a wonderful product.

Gels/Soaps -Soap and Glory - Clean On Me Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel
comma 8/25/2010 4:20:00 PM
This smells amazing! And it lingers after your shower too. I agree with the reviewer who said it smells like Miss Cherie by Dior (I think it's the strawberries?). Gives me the perfect amount of moisture and leaves my skin feeling soft. I must admit, I mostly bought this because of the scent. I usually don't like really creamy body wash because, most of the time, it doesn't leave me feeling clean. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. After my shower, I feel clean AND moisturized. Love it!

Masks -Avene - Cleanance Exfoliating Mask
comma 8/16/2010 2:38:00 AM
This is great! I love that it is a clay mask and a scrub all in one. For this reason, I think it is very reasonably priced. One tube lasts a very long time if you're only using it once or twice a week. Leaves skin smooth and clean. I think it's great that it has both chemical and physical exfoliants. It stings a little bit but that's the AHA and BHA working! As a scrub, the granules are small enough to do their job but they aren't sharp or irritating. I would say that this product exfoliates better than it absorbs oil. It's not as thick as other clay masks that I've tried and doesn't dry on my face in the same way before I rinse it off. I kind of see this product as a great scrub for oily skin with the kaolin in there as an added bonus. That being said, it is definitely still worth it to leave it on your face for a few minutes as a mask to give those AHAs and BHAs some time to work. Overall, this is a multitasking product and my favorite mask/scrub. I'll definitely use it again.

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Mineral Face Powder
comma 8/14/2010 3:36:00 PM
I really like this powder! It gives a nice, matte finish and wears so nicely! Looks very natural. Light coverage but layers well to build more coverage where you need it. Love the minimal list of ingredients. Very gentle with no talc. The packaging is okay. It's not the most convenient to use when you're on the go but it works. Definitely use a different powder brush to apply! The one that comes with this is okay for touching up but it's too narrow to get an even dusting all over the face and the bristles are hard. I find the price to be a bit high compared to that of other drugstore powders but I definitely think it's worth it. One lippie off because of the shade selection. There aren't very many shades to choose from, a lot of them seem very close together and the darker shades are all very pink. I am somewhere in between Translucent Light and Translucent Natural. Light is a bit too yellow and Natural is a bit too dark. I can get away with either but neither of them are translucent! I can get almost full coverage with a concealer brush. I don't mind, but it is a little misleading. Overall, I think this is a great powder. Wish I had a perfect match.

Treatments -Avene - Diacneal Acne Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
comma 8/11/2010 5:35:00 AM
This product definitely helped with the overall clarity and tone of my skin. My face looked a lot smoother and more even after using Dicacneal. It wasn't very good at clearing up existing breakouts but it I did find that it helped prevent them somewhat (not as much as I would have liked, though). I didn't find this product very pleasant to use. The retinaldehyde plus glycolic acid in this made my face sting a little bit on most every application, even if I had been consistent in using it every day. The stinging didn't last long, but I didn't really seem to develop much of a tolerance. I maybe could have handled this better had I seen better results. I also didn't enjoy the yellow-orangey colour of the product. Maybe it would look more normal on someone with darker skin but I would definitely never put this cream on in the morning and leave the house with no makeup. It made my face look quite orangey. That being said, this treatment wears quite nicely under makeup. Something to be said considering most moisturizers for oily skin that I've tried flake like crazy if you try to put a liquid foundation over them. I don't think I will repurchase this product. I think it could be really great for someone with oily skin who wants to improve their skin's overall appearance. As an acne treatment though, it didn't really work for me.

Cleansers -Avene - Cleanance soapless gel cleanser for oily skin
comma 8/11/2010 4:49:00 AM
I absolutely love this cleanser! It has a great texture and a light, pleasant scent. Leaves my skin feeling super clean and refreshed, but not tight. I find some cleansers for oily skin to be too harsh and drying. I love how gentle this one is. No irritation whatsoever. It's gentle enough that you won't overdo it if you are using another acne treatment but still helps regulate oil. Initially, this product seems to be a little bit on the pricey side but a little goes a very long way. It lathers up quite nicely. A bottle of this stuff lasts me ages! You definitely get your money's worth. The packaging is convenient with a twist open cap. Very easy to use. Sometimes some of the gel gets on top of the cap and as there's nothing to close over it, it dries up and looks kind of messy. I would also like for the whole lid to be removable, so that I could reuse the bottle. Those are my only complaints. Not even enough to take a lippie off! Overall, a fantastic product! I'm on my third bottle now.

Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
comma 8/10/2010 3:10:00 AM
The first time I wore this, right after applying, I thought it made my lashes look wonderful. I was very impressed. However, the second time wearing this mascara was not so great...I accidentally applied too much and some lashes stuck together. Due to the consistency of this mascara, the clumps were absolutely impossible to comb through and separate! Shortly after applying, I also noticed that my lashes were drooping. I didn't experience the smudging that other reviewers mentioned but this mascara makes my eyes water sooo much. It doesn't sting, but my eyes were just watering all day when I was wearing this. I can't even imagine what it would have been like if I was wearing my contacts while wearing this...I can't comment on the growth aspect of this mascara because I don't think I will continue to wear it. Overall, if applied lightly this mascara gives a very nice, natural look with added length. However, it is just a mess if you apply more. I wouldn't suggest it for those with sensitive eyes either. Also, the brush, like everyone says, is too big. I didn't find it too difficult to use but I generally don't like putting mascara on my bottom lashes and that was hard to avoid with this brush.

Liquid -Marcelle - True Radiance Radiant Complexion Make-up SPF 15
comma 8/10/2010 2:47:00 AM
I hesitated to buy this product because I knew the packaging would drive me nuts (I much prefer foundation with either a pump or in a squeeze tube). Anyway, I decided to try this one because I was looking for a less expensive alternative to my regular foundation and this one had a lot of good reviews on here. The packaging definitely needs an update but that aside, I found a great match for my skin. It's hard finding shades that are light enough for me. I also have very oily skin, so the fact that this foundation is oil free was a plus. The wear is pretty good. It gives light-medium coverage and lasts throughout the day. It didn't make me any shinier than usual. I really like it when makeups have SPF so I appreciate the SPF 15 however, there is something in this product that really stings my face. I think it may be the sunscreen. I've had issues with wearing cheaper sunscreens on my face before, never in a makeup though. I'm not really sure what it is. In any case, I won't be buying this again. I've given it a few tries and it just stings too much. The perfect match was enough to get over the annoying packaging but it's just unpleasant for me to use :( I think this could be a really good foundation for someone with light skin who is not sensitive (even though Marcelle is supposed to be good for that!) and who also isn't picky about the packaging.

Foundations -Vichy - Vichy Norma Teint Fond De Teint Anti-Imperfections [DISCONTINUED]
comma 7/15/2010 2:37:00 PM
Love the texture of this foundation! It's very liquid, so it squirts out of the tube very easily which can be a bit messy sometimes but it goes on very nicely and dries matte! Just perfect for oily skin. I set this with a powder but this is the only foundation I've ever tried where I didn't feel the need to immediately powder my face after applying. The coverage is light to medium, not so great at spot coverage. I found that when I wore more of it, it looked streaky at the end of the day so I find it looks best when applied lightly just to even things out and I would suggest using a separate concealer for areas where you want more coverage. The finish is very nice and it keeps skin matte for a few hours, but I do need to touch up after about 5-6 hours of wearing this for sure. The foundation has a slight scent to it but I find it to be very clean and pleasant and I love the SPF 20! The packaging is very hygienic, which is great, but there is a lot of product still in there when it seems you can't squeeze any more out. What I do at that point is I cut the tube straight across the middle and scoop out what's left in there into a little travel jar. You'd be surprised at how much is left! Probably a week's worth of daily wear. This foundation is a little on the pricey side but I think it's definitely worth it for those with oily skin. It's the best liquid makeup for my skin that I've tried. It doesn't clog pores or make me feel like a oil slick by the middle of the day. This foundation doesn't come in too many shades but if you have oily skin and can find a good match, I definitely would suggest giving it a try!

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto
comma 7/15/2010 2:10:00 PM
Not a huge fan of this one. It definitely lengthens lashes and can give a dramatic look...IF you take the time to comb through your lashes after you apply. Made my lashes stick together quite a bit. It also smudged and flaked during the day. Too much product gets on the lashes. I found the scent of this mascara to be VERY strong. I could smell it on myself the whole time I was wearing it. Would not repurchase.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion
comma 7/15/2010 1:48:00 PM
I really like this product. It gives a nice, clean look. Definitely adds BOTH length and volume. Doesn't smudge or flake during the day. I've tried the original Lash Blast (orange tube) and Lash Blast Length and I definitely prefer this one to both of those. Lash Blast Length didn't do much for my lashes at all and though I do like the original Lash Blast, I appreciate the extra length that Fusion adds. As other reviewers have said, the wand is a bit bulky but I don't find that it makes it that much more difficult to apply the product. I think getting the little lashes closest to the nose would be easier if the wand were thinner though. One thing I like about this wand (and the original Lash Blast wand) is that the rubber/plastic bristles are a lot softer than those of similar wands on the market so you still get a defined look but don't feel you're going to poke your eyes out! All in all, a good mascara :)
