Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Lasting Lift Mascara
rated 3 of 5
colours 1/8/2007 1:34:00 PM

This is the most effective curling mascara I have come across. I would like to give it a higher rating but unfortunately this mascara is impossible to get off! Normally I can get away with using a deep cleansing face wash at night that removes all of my makeup. But with this mascara, after I wash my face, there are dried clumps stuck onto my lashes. I tried gently pulling the clumps off once and my lashes came out with them! Even with mu remover, it was difficult to get it all off and my eyes didn't feel "clean". Also, perhaps it was the fibers in the primer I always use, but this became very clumpy after a month. It's not worth all these problems so, I'm searching for a new curling m/s now =(

Makeup Brushes -Flirt - Feather Dust-her (aka Skunk Brush)
rated 5 of 5
colours 2/6/2006 2:11:00 AM

At $6, this brush is one of the greatest makeup-related buys you can get, at least in my book. True, you can tell that it's not as dense or as full as the MAC skunk brush even from looking at pictures, but I actually prefer that. I find the size to be just right for lightly applying shimmer to cheeks, or for dusting on really bright blush ex. Milani Mango Tango. Any denser, and I think it would overdo the shimmer. If someone was torn bt the two, I would say go for the MAC only if you're looking for a skunk brush to use for lots of different blushes (not just highly pigmented ones or shimmers) since the MAC will give a more intense color and better blending power. Overall this brush is incredibly soft and performs well, and did not disappoint me at all.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Florabundance lipglass
rated 5 of 5
colours 12/5/2005 4:54:00 AM

I cannot believe I've waited this long to review this product. I have found my HG l/g: Florabundance is a warm fleshy nude shade, but not beige-nude, which can wash you out, but a nude-soft pink. It contains the slightest amount of fine shimmer which isn't really detectable on the lips. I love to emphasize my eyes, especially on nights out, and this is the perfect complement to that. I was afraid it would completely wash me out or look ridiculous, but this gloss is so flattering- it makes my lips look very plump and... sexy! It's not a very sheer gloss- it softly mutes your lipcolor. But as with all nudes, I'm sure it won't work for everyone, but I highly suggest you give it a shot instead of being scared away. I've gotten compliments on it and I get lots of use out of it (though I wouldn't say it's an everyday gloss) and definitely plan on rebuying if I run out. I'm an NC25, for reference. As with all MAC l/g, this is sticky and has great staying power but I dislike the way product collects at the top of the wand though =P

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Perfection
rated 4 of 5
colours 12/5/2005 4:33:00 AM

I like this mascara, but only with a primer first. With a primer (for now, the white part of L'oreal's Double Extend), this mascara gives good length and separation, plus it actually holds a curl better than most mascaras I've tried before. It's strange bc with a primer, this mascara provides one of the most pleasing results of all the mascaras I've tried, but without one, I honestly don't think this product is worth all the hype. So this leaves me confused as to how to rate this product =P I do know though, that if you're looking for volume or thickness, Lash Perfection is not the way to go. I have short, thin lashes and am overall pleased with this m/s, but I think those with long, medium-thickness lashes would be the most satisfied with this. On a final note, the unique brush seems to make a slight difference and makes application easier, but alot of excess product comes out on the brush bc the bristles are shorter than normal brushes. This can lead to clumping of m/s gunk on the lashes.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Line Intensifique in Black Mica
rated 5 of 5
colours 11/6/2005 10:23:00 PM

I cannot find a single flaw with this product. All of the rave reviews are completely true. I was tired of the way my pencil eyeliner always smudged and was totally gone by the time half the day was over. I was looking for something that would stay the entire day, exactly the way I drew it (a nice thin line). After reading through reviews this seemed like a good choice and I have to say it didn't disappoint me the slightest bit. It gives a nice bold, crisp black line, pretty easy to draw once you get the hang of it, and most importantly, does not in the least smudge or fade. It literally lasts the entire day. I used to always bring my e/l with me whereever I went for touchups, but with this, I use it in the morning and it stays on my dresser- I'm never paranoid that it'll fade, never need to check in the mirror. It always washes off super easily with regular facewash, and if you make a mistake its easy to wipe off with a semi-wet q-tip. The price was not bad, around $6-7. I never tried the Lancome Artliner but honestly, I don't have the slightest desire to because this product is just perfect. I will definitely repurchase if I run out. =D

Styling Products -Garnier - Fructis Long and Strong Leave-In Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
colours 8/9/2005 10:46:00 PM

Of the many leave-in conditioners I have tried, this ranks very very high. It's a light weight cream that doesn't weigh down my hair. I have very long, straight hair so the ends are a bit dry/damaged. I try to apply this every evening when my hair is 60% dry, from the middle of hair to the ends. The first time I used this product, my hair felt softer. By the 2nd or 3rd day my hair felt totally transformed- very silky and healthy! Recently, I go lazy and stopped using it for a few days and the silkiness is gone so you need consistency to reap the benefits of this product. Price is great (I paid a little over $3), and the packaging is convienient- a small spherical pump bottle. However, tho Garnier's products all smell awesome, their products that come in those sphere bottles smell different- a bit likr bug repellent or something, rather than the regular green apple smell. This annoying and unpleasant fragrance was what made me give away my Garnier Sleek and Shine serum, but because the leave-in conditioner did wonders for my hair, I decided to keep it. The scent does go away after a while but I really dislike it =P Some women seem not to mind or notice it, but if it weren't for the strange smell, I would totally give it a 5.

Toners -DDF - Glycolic Toner 10%
rated 5 of 5
colours 8/5/2005 4:31:00 PM

I've used this for a week now and so far, I'm seeing excellent results. I am 19 and have oily skin in the summer and acne prone skin. My main problems are clogged pores and some remaining acne scars. The first time I used it, I could tell that my skin had more of a glow and was noticably softer. Within the next few days, my acne scars began fading and my complexion was improving- it looked "cleaner" and more radiant. I also had fewer clogged pores and happier skin in general. I think I experienced a little bit of purging after about 2 days because I got 3 tiny pimples of the outside of the skin, but nothing that I was too concerned about. The "burning" sensation was most noticeable the first few times I used it, but IMO it's nothing unbearable or too painful though it does tingle more than other toners. It's similar to the tingling with Clinique's astringents. It was $25 for a big 8.45 fl oz. bottle at Sephora. There seems to be a sudden increase interest in this product because I had never heard about it before and suddenly every is raving about it lol. This product is awesome and very effective. I think with continued use it could drastically improve the condition and apppearance of anyone's skin, as long as you are not too sensitive. My only concern is that I'm 19 and am unsure whether I'm using AHAs too early on..?

Styling Products -Aveda - Light Elements Smoothing Fluid
rated 5 of 5
colours 8/5/2005 3:16:00 PM

This is the product that has had the 2nd biggest impact on my life (first one would be the mascara and eyelash curler combo). I have long, moderately thick hair that is straight but not straight "enough", if you know what I mean. Sometimes the ends will get a little wave or simply not lie straight, probably because I had my ends razored. Because of this, I would resort to flat ironing my already straight hair nearly everyday, causing it much dryness and damage. But after coming upon this product, my life has been drastically altered. After I shower, when my hair is about 70% dry, I squirt some into my hand, rub hands together, then smooth it onto the lower half of my damp hair. Then I flip my hair upside down and repeat once more. When I do this, I can let my hair air dry and it dries almost completely stick straight, without the limpness or damage from using a flat iron. My hair is smooth, soft, and obedient. This has saved me so much time and has spared my hair from further damage. I only use a flat iron once or twice a month now! Because this is a silicone product, it is a good protectant for people that must heat style everyday. As the name suggests, this serum is extremely light- no greasiness, stickiness, and doesnt weigh hair down. Pricier than d/s, but worth it. The only negative thing I can say about it is that I don't see too much shine, but I don't think it's advertised as a shine-infuser anyway. The scent is slightly herbal- not crazy about it but does not bother me and goes away quickly anyway. Big thumbs up! =)

Mascara -L'Oreal - Double Extend Mascara
rated 4 of 5
colours 8/3/2005 11:06:00 PM

I would give this a 4.8 if I could. Of all the lengthening m/s I have tried, ranging from EL Lash XL (crap), L'oreal Lash Out (wimpy), Maybelline Illegal Lengths (clumpy), Lancome Flextencils (goopy), and so on, this is hands down the best. I even temporarily lost me sanity through the frustration of finding a good lengthening m/s that I bought L'oreal Voluminous, wondering if I would find satisfaction there. Obviously, that did not work out and I luckily regained my sanity and purchased Lash Extend. Some view this as only a gimmick, and the reviews are mediocre, but I find that this lengthens, separates and defines very well. Some lengthening m/s are wimpy bc skinny lashes give the illusion of looking longer, but Lash Extend gives enough drama and volume but still adds length very well. The white primer is not opaque as it looks in the magazine ads, but still works well- I can see how it adds fibers and extends the lashes. Doing these two steps creates no clumps or problems whatsoever, which surprised me at first. Unlike some other mascaras, this does not flake or smudge or bother my contact lenses. It is not cheap for a drugstor m/s (somewhere between $6-$7), but I would definitely rebuy. I recommend you give this a chance if you are looking for a good lengthening m/s.

Mascara -Clinique - High Impact Mascara
rated 4 of 5
colours 6/22/2005 12:24:00 AM

I was very surprised with this mascara, considering I wasn't expecting much from it in the first place. This product has so many good qualities- the most important being that it truly lives up to its name. It gives alot of definition- alot of volume, drama, even length- to really make your lashes stand out. It also holds a curl very well. I always go for lengthening mascaras due to my unfortunately short lashes, but happened upon this and was very impressed- while I thought it would give hardly any length at all, this worked just as well, even better, than other lengthening m/s. This is definitely not a natural look m/s- it gives alot of "oomph", which I found to be a refreshing change after having only used wimpy m/s in the past. The only con and a weird thing about this is that the bristles of the brush are soft not stiff, so when you start nearing the end of the product, they kinda stick together or actually lie down instead of sticking up, thereby causing some clumpiness.(hence the 4 lippies) But IMHO this m/s is good enough to look past that.

Eye Makeup Remover -Lumene - Absolute Away eye makeup remover
rated 4 of 5
colours 5/4/2005 4:17:00 AM

I havn't used too many eye-makeup removers, but from what I can tell, this is a great product. It comes in a clear blue, twist cap bottle (that surprisingly doesn't leak) and is one of those liquid/oil formulas that you have to shake before use. Gets all of my m/s off quite eaily, and is not drying or harsh. Took off 1 lippie because it leaves a slick of oily residue. Because of this, I like to wash my face as soon as I use the remover. Also, this would not be ideal to use during mu application to correct mistakes bc the oiliness it leaves behind would make everything smear. But for nighttime removal (and for those that are not bothered by the oil), this is a great d/s buy.

Highlighters -Wet 'n' Wild - Silk Finish Blush in All Over Shimmer - 832D [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
colours 2/28/2005 12:07:00 AM

Awesome awesome product. Soft, silky powder that is a neutral champagne shade that appears a bit.. grayish/taupish? in the pan. It has no color when applied and looks like a fine silvery shimmer when swiped. Makes my NC25 skin look naturally glowy and healthy when applied lightly. I can imagine this not looking too flattering on darker skintones tho. Extremely cheap (and unattractive packaging) but the pan is large which makes it great for dipping larger brushes into. The only negative thing I could possibly say is that this powder is not densely compacted and thus very "soft" so I could imagine it cumbling very easily, as well as the fact that a light dip with the brush gets a ton of product. But this hardly takes away from the product for me at least, and I still say this is one of the greatest d/s buy for fair-medium toned people.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - wet/dry duo in Blushing Violet
rated 5 of 5
colours 2/27/2005 11:01:00 PM

As with all Revlon wet/dry shadows, the quality of this is great! The duo contains a shimmery/silvery, pale lilac on one side and a plummy violet on the other. This looks great on my NC25 skin/brown eyes. Pigmentation is good. The violet shade comes out a bit brighter and less darker than I thought it would, but it's very nice regardless. A great buy, imho =)

Lip Gloss -Sally Hansen - Lip Quencher- Daily Lip Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
colours 2/24/2005 4:20:00 PM

Love this gloss! I have it in Clear Mauve, and yes, it applies basically clear. But, the shine it departs is very pretty and super long lasting. I love the thick consistency, orange scent, and moisturizing effect. Unlike most thick glosses, this doesn't leave your lips gritty, dry, or peeling. Plus, the shade in the tube is soo pretty! This is great alone or over any other ls, and is a great, cheap, versatile product that is great to carry around everywhere. love love love =)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pink Venus Eye Shadow
rated 4 of 5
colours 2/8/2005 6:08:00 PM

My most absolute favoritest pink for my NC25, warm Asian skin! Some pinks look too chalky or make me look like I have an eye infection, or don't even show up at all, but Pink Venus is gorgeous. I can get a sheer wash or build for more pigmentation. This is definitely not a frosty pastel pink- it shows up as a bright springy pink. I could do without the glitter in the shadow because it makes the es gritty and doesn't stay put anyway (which is why I didn't give this a 5), but it's not a big deal to me. I would like to note that I don't apply this all over my eye (would could look bad)- but just on the outer 2/3 to brighten and accentuate. Definite repurchase!
