Eye Shadow -MAC - Henna (Blonde Brunette Redhead Collection)
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 11/10/2012 11:56:00 AM

From reading the past reviews, looks like the people who would not buy this again are cool-complexioned folks who really don't look good in warm colors of gold and green. HOWEVER, if you are warm or neutral, this eyeshadow, if you can get your hands on it, is the most gorgeous color for warm brown, amber, hazel, green and "warm" blue eyes ever! This shadow is stunning on those whose eye color has gold flecks. It is, as others have stated, a gorgeous shade of antiqued gold with some olive green tones. Amazing color and no dupes exist unfortunately--it is nothing like Sumptuous Olive which has much more geen. Of course the lovely Henna was LE so is hard to find, but perhaps there will be a repromote someday. I hope so! In the meantime, if you own this and have cool tones, put it up for swap because it will never work for you....frustrating but just a fact.... Respectfully submitted, colormepink

rated 5 of 5
colormepink 11/9/2012 10:41:00 PM

Beautiful deep rich gold with the wonderful texture Dior is famous for--picks up the gold flecks in light brown eyes. I have a number of gold eyeshadows, love many of them but this one is now my HG. It's perfect! Respectfully submitted, colormepink

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Loose Pearls in Gold Pearl
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 11/7/2012 7:25:00 PM

This gorgeous finely milled shimmer is absolutely a dream to apply and is a beautiful shade of Ft. Knox gold with some pale copper. Classy and definitely not the tacky large glitter look. Looks perfect applied on any neutral eyeshadow whether powder or cream. I have a large collection of both loose and compact golds, coppers and bronzes and combinations thereof, and this is the absolute prettiest! This is made for you if you have light brown eyes with gold flecks, aka amber colored eyes. Amazing! Respectfully submitted, colormepink

http://img.makeupalley.com/5/9/5/6/2340883.JPG Beautiful russet color in the new matte Lip Velvets. The texture is wonderful and the staying power is exceptional. This is as dark in all the shades as I can go, but this one is absolutely perfect for moi. Respectfully submitted, colormepink

Lipstick -Burberry - Peony Rose Lip Velvet
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 10/28/2012 12:47:00 AM

This review is for Peony Rose, one of the new matte ipsticks from the Burberry Lip Velvet collection released in October, 2012. I was excited to finally try the Burberry lipsticks at Northpark Mall in Dallas. The texture and wearability is excellent. Although a true matte, the consistency of this lipstick is creamy and buttery and feels fabulous on--the ingredients are indeed good for your lips. You could not ask for a better "feel". Applies beautifully right out of the tube, I don't use a liner anyway but especially not needed for these. Pricey but now I know why--it's totally worth it. This color, Peony Rose, is gorgeous. My favorite lippie in the world is--or at least was-- Rouge Coco Mademoiselle and so, I swatched it on my hand and then selected a Lip Velvet that was the closest match. Peony Rose is very, very close--perhaps a little lighter than Mademoiselle but otherwise very close. Peony Rose may be slightly, slightly more brownish a shade of rose than Mademoiselle. But Peony Rose is not brown (which I don't like in a lipstick). My lips are medium pigmented but that is not an issue in changing the color of the lipstick since it has full coverage, but looks moist and not at all chalky or "dry" looking. Peony Rose is perfect for that beautifully polished look you want for an interview or just for an everyday casual go-to lippie. I swatched several other shades and many are lovely in the Lip Velvets--there are many deep colors that will look stunning on those who can pull off really dark lipsticks. There are two or three lighter than Peony Rose that are beautiful as well. The packaging is great; I love the magnetic closure and the modern look of the square housing. I shall definitely get another one or two; the texture is so divine! Peony Rose may have one-upped my beloved Mademoiselle. Oh well, that's makeup life! Respectfully submitted, colormepink

Lipstick -MAC - Sunny Seoul
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 8/18/2012 11:59:00 PM

Sunny Seoul is a lovely warm medium pink lipstick from the new Creamsheen + Pearl collection released in early August, 2012. Sunny Seoul is semi-opaque, providing enough coverage so that lip pigment does not show through, but it is still somewhat sheer and is quite beautiful. Unlike the ordinary creamsheens (which I love as well), these with the pearl (which you can barely see but is pretty) are not as creamy as the regular creamsheens but are not drying, either. I like the staying power--a bit better than the regular creamsheens. This shade of pink is quite lovely, what I would call a hot pink shade, but is not overly bright--it is not pale, either though. Just perfect. There is another medium pink in this collection that I tried just for fun, although it is just a little too cool for me--Pink Pearl Pop. It would be lovely on cooler complexions. They are very similar, however. MAC for some unknown reason advertises these lipsticks as "frost". They are not at all. One never knows MAC's reasoning in providing this kind of misinformation. Perhaps it was a mischevious advertising agency employee who thought it would be amusing to throw everyone off by calling it a frost. Who knows? It just isn't. We at MakeupAlley will check these things out; we are never fooled! Anyway, I digress. Not only is there no frost, there is no glitter or otherwise shimmer, either. There is a slight pearl finish but it is barely detectible. Quite lovely, however, if you stare at it in your magnifying mirror, which I have done...a lot. Ok, admit it, you stare at your lipstick admiringly too, now don't you? Respectfully submitted, colormepink

Lipstick -MAC - Saigon Summer
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 8/18/2012 11:38:00 PM

Saigon Summer is a straight-up apricot-orange lipstick from the Creamsheen + Pearl collection that is semi-opaque. (It's not sheer, but it's not matte either.) Just right, said Goldilocks. I like the texture; it reminds me a *little* of the regular MAC creamsheens but does not have quite the "slip" that they do and certainly has longer staying power. As for the color intensity, it is not overly bright but it is not a pale and meek shade, either, said Goldilocks once again. People like me with medium-pigmented lips are fussy about getting enough coverage so that the lip pigment doesn't show through and totally change the color of the lipstick. Saigon Summer does the trick. Now why MAC advertises this lipstick as a "frost" I have no idea. This is totally *not* a frost lipstick. I run from frost lipsticks. I do not like them on a boat, I do not like them on a goat....well, you get the idea. Anyway, Saigon Summer does have an ever-so-slight pearl finish but it is so subtle I would imagine most people would not even notice it. Lovely, though. Saigon Summer is a clear and "unmuddied" shade of apricot-orange, unadorned by any glitter, shimmer, frost or other adornments (except that slight pearl finish). I would classify it as a medium in the shine department--not too shiny, not too matte--wow, this really is the perfect lipstick for Goldilocks, isn't it? You go, girl--go get it! Lipstick -MAC - Cream Lipstick in Dubonnet
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 12/21/2011 6:20:00 PM

I have tried lots and lots of red lipsticks on warm-undertoned me. Some are so bright and such a contrast between the lipstick and my skin color that I either look like a pair of bright red lips with a person attached somewhere, at best, or, at worst, a Serial Killer Clown. It truly makes one want to totally give up the search UNTIL I discovered the lovely Dubonnet. I was skeptical. I thought there might not be a red lipstick ever for me, I really did. Dubonnet is a gorgeous, pin-up girl, movie star red with no blue undertones. It is not bright, thankfully, but its beautiful red (with a slight brick color) tone does announce, "I'm a red lipstick" and not just one pretending to get "close". It is truly a sexy and wearable red. I am so happy I found this! Just in time to wear with a red cashmere Christmas sweater! Yay! Respectfully submitted, colormepink

Highlighters -MAC - Chez Chez Lame
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 12/26/2010 6:36:00 PM

Chez Chez Lame, in the stores on December 26, 2010, is a beautiful highlighting powder, unique enough to warrant buying. MAC's description of gold with silver shimmer is not quite accurate--it is not silvery at all to me.. It reflects a gold/white color, not at all frosty or glittery. This brightens and has reflective qualities--is glowy but not over the top. The gold is very soft, not at all yellowy or brassy. Truly brightens and blends in nicely; is easy to work with. Love this! Lipstick -Chantecaille - Lip Chic - Zinnia
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 12/15/2010 9:05:00 PM

I have always loved Chantecaille lip gloss in the pots but really didn't care for the packaging, putting one's finger in the gloss, etc. The Lip Chic formula is much like the gloss in the pot and the color Zinnia is absolutely gorgeous! I can't rave on enough about this! On my medium pigmented lips it is a peachy-coral-watermellony shade that is insanely beautiful. Feels like a dream--moisturizing like a lip balm but stays in place nicely. Worth every penny. Respectfully submitted, colormepink

Blush -Rock & Republic - Contrived Blush in Immoral
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 11/27/2010 10:18:00 PM

Move over MAC--there's a new blush in town! This is an absolutely gorgeous color of *almost* pure orange (has some red in it too) that is super pigmented and silky smooth. Goes on like a dream and gives a "natural" look even though it is super scary looking in the pan. This is a clean, clear color--nothing muddy or dull about this one. Blushers in the orange family can be very problematic and as of yet, my old buddy MAC has yet to come up with one that is wearable. But Immoral: You Rock! Respectfully submitted, colormepink

Blush -MAC - My Highland Honey (A Tartan Tale Holiday '10)

You would think this blush would be perfect for redheads and strawberry blondes. You would be wrong. This blush is the color of an anemic pumpkin. Awful. Respectfully submitted, colormepink

Lipstick -Chanel - Coco Rouge Egerie
rated 5 of 5
colormepink 11/4/2010 7:10:00 PM

A gorgeous medium coral with no blue, perfect for warm gals (or neutral). Thankfully not overly bright--looks incredible on fair/medium-medium complexions. Brightens the face as only coral can. This has emerged as my favorite of the Coco Rouge line (and I love my others!). What a treat that Chanel keeps on supplying us with these fantastic products. Love you, Chanel!
