Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Buxom Lips Lip Gloss in Bambi
colombiana 2/3/2008 5:51:00 AM
I bought this last weekend on my b-day on a whim. I know it's expensive, way more than I would normally pay for a gloss, but guess it being my birthday and i was feeling good, I didn't think too much about it! I was orignially going to get it in Amber but I sae the Bambi colour and thought it looked like a nice colourt hat could be worn day or night- and i was right! It is so pretty against my NC20 skin and I am wearing it to work and then out at night. It goes with a lot of other makeup as it is a fairly neutral pink. It smells great (like cookies, not that thats really important!) and has pretty nice staying power for a gloss. It also has a very minty tingly feel when applied (supposedly to plump up lips but i didn't get that at all - so leave it alone if thats what youre after i would say). While expensive, it is a rather large tube so you are getting more than with normal gloss products. I would definitely try the Amber colour after this!

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - Lili Lolo eyeshadow in sticky toffee
colombiana 2/3/2008 5:44:00 AM
I recently had a makeup lesson/application where Lily Lolo was usedon me and afterwards I just had to order several products, this being one of them. It's a beautiful goldish brown shadow. Excellent creamy powder texture once applied and its shimmery but with no obvious sparkle or glitter to it. It's natural but sexy looking and can be worn day or night, I use from the lash line up to the brow, then use clinique egyptian brown cream shaper to line my eyes and I love it. You could also use this as a highlighter. For my first LL eyeshadow, I am really impressed and would def reccommend it (ps I'm NC20).

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Wearable Nude
colombiana 1/2/2008 3:27:00 PM
I am always on the lookout for a pretty nude lipcolour, be it in gloss or stick form. I've tried a few BE products but this is the first lipcolour of theirs to cross my lips and I'm so happy I went for it. This is very pretty on my NC20 skintone. It's natural looking with a hint of pearl through it to make it stand out. I wear this for day or night as its very versatile. The consistency is nice, not too sticky at all, and the staying power is ok (not many glosses I use actually ever last that long). I would try another BE gloss soon on the basis of this.

Blush -Bare Escentuals - True all over face color
colombiana 1/2/2008 3:23:00 PM
I got this as a GWP from Sephora (full size too, score!). I have a few BE products, all which I really like, so I was happy to try this. As an NC20, I've been rec'd this before and I have to say the colour is very pretty and natural looking. I only need a light dusting of this to give me a nice pinkish-mauvish glow. However, this has mucho sparkle, a little more than I really like! So I really do make sure to use the less is more method when applying this one! I will probably have this forever too for that reason! So all in all, not my fav because of the sparkle factor but lovely none the less!

Cleansers -Aveda - Botanical Kinetics Purifying Creme Cleanser
colombiana 1/2/2008 3:19:00 PM
I tried this for the first time about 2 months ago. For the most part, I'm not a huge Aveda fan; I think the products are not as effective as they lead on to be. However, there a few products of theirs that do impress me and this certainly has become one of them. I have normal to dry skin that can be very sensitive and this treats it beautifully. I love a creame cleanser, and this one is the perfect consistency and does not leave a residue, only soft, cleansed skin. I love the smell (very Aveda) but it may some people off. I know it's silly to spend more than necessary on a cleanser considering its on your face for about 2 minutes, but considering how well my face reacts to this I think its worth it. I like that its in a glass bottle (for recylcing) but it can be a pain since its so fragile. After the holidays I'm on a tighter budget so I've had to go back to a d/s cleanser but I'll definitely be going back to this soon.

Skincare - Face -Ole Henriksen - Skin Insulator Cream
colombiana 10/28/2007 6:44:00 AM
I wasn't planning on buying this moisturiser but when I went into the department store where I get ny regular cream (MD skincare maximum moisture treatment) they didn't have anymore so I decided to try this one. I have read about ole henriksen for years, how he's loved in hollywood and all that, and since it was in my price range (I don't really like spending over £35/$50) I figured it was worth a shot. So far it's not that bad at all- I have dry skin and this moisturises well and keeps my skin hydrated (no flakies) all day. I like the consistency (med thick) and the fact that it is not greasy or heavy feeling. I've ot had the problem as other reviewers where it balls up. I wear it under my mineral foundation no problem. One last positive point is that it has a great smell, reminds me of origins night a mins from back in the day. That said, while I like this cream I don't think I would repucahse it, It's still not as good as the maximum moisture treatment so I will go back to that after this. I'm not a fan of creams in a jar that you have to dip your finger into either. So nice cream but not amazing.

Moisturizers -MD Formulations - Maximum Moisture Treatment
colombiana 8/4/2007 7:25:00 AM
I learned a long time ago on this board that you don't have to spend a lot on moisturisers in order to get a good quality product (better to sinvest on proven to be effective anti-aging and sun protection products). That said, I was out last weekend to buy some more of my normal moisturiser when I decided to try something different. I was at Space NK and came across this line, which I had heard of before, and despite costing a good deal more than I would normally pay. I decided to try this cream for curiousity's sake. It's been a week now (I use it only in the AM, after my vit C serum, before sunscreen) and I have to say I am really happy with it. I have dry to very dry skin and this is keeping my dry patches at bay and does not irritate or cause breakouts. It's very simple but effective and I am glad I splurged a bit. Would be curious to check out the other MD Formultions products now too.

Self Tanners -Clarins - Intense Bronze Self Tanning Tint
colombiana 6/16/2007 5:08:00 PM
This is the first self-tan for face that I have ever bought. I was a little nervous at first because my biggest fear is looking orange and fake but am happy to say that you do not get that with this product. It's pretty easy to use (just swipe a cotton pad over the face and neck quick and light like it says on the bottle). I use 2 cotton pads each time fo rthe perfect amount of colour. The smell is minimal and you can really control the intensity. At first I used it for a few days in a row and then once I got a colour I was happy with I only use it maybe 1-2 times a week. The only negative thing is that I think it irritates my chest area a bit:( but otherwise its great and the price is good too as you only use very little each time, it goes a long way. I've got nothing to compare this to but would definitely buy again.

Concealers -Laura Mercier - Secret Concealer
colombiana 6/2/2007 7:27:00 AM
I am always on the hunt for the perfect concealer (like most people I'm sure!). That said I am always trying new ones out, never sticking with one kind/brand for too long. After finsihing DuWop surface crayon (which was ok but very greasy and didn't stay put for enough of the day) I decided to try this one. My HG fndtn is LM moisturing and way back in the day I tried her secret camoflauge (which was again ok but i never used both shades so it was a waste). I have to say I'm pretty happy with this product. It provides nice coverage (use it under eyes and on occasional spots) and it's very buildable and blends easy. I reccomend an eye cream underneath if you're feeling dry but as of yet it has not cracked or balled up on me. I would buy this again but I'm already intrigued by Chanel Pro Lumiere concealer which I will try next. That said, all the LM products I have tried are all excellent quality and well worth the money.

Lipstick -NARS - Funny Face
colombiana 6/2/2007 7:21:00 AM
This is my very first NARS lipstick (have only ever bought their bronzer and loose powder which I love). I was on a hunt to find a match replacement for one of my favourite lipsticks by Origins- Intense Berry. I have had this lipstick for YEARS and finally had come to the end of the tube and of course, it's no longer made! It's a beautiful fuschia/berry colour, perfect for day or night (I keep the rest of my face very bare/subtle when i wear this to work). Well I went to Space NK and brought what was left of my origins ls and the SA reccomended Funny Face. I was so surprised, it was an almost exact match! The texture is light and not drying whic his perfect for me. I am really looking forward to wearing this shade this summer. On top of that the slick packaging is lovely:)

Tinted Moisturizer -Kiehls - tinted moisturizer [DISCONTINUED]
colombiana 6/2/2007 7:14:00 AM
I've never used a TM before (always use LM moisturising foundation) but finally thought to try one out now that its getting into the summer months. I had tried a sample of EL sheer tint TM which was nice but gave a little less coverage than I was looking for. I then read about this one from Kiehls and decided to try it. I was a little unsure about the colour match (theres only 3 available) but finally decideed on Medium and its perfect! I am an NC20 and I think if it was winter/fall I would try the Light but I'm currently using Clarins Intense Bronze Self Tanning Tint on my face and this matches the subtle tan I get from that. It's light, not tacky and provides a nice medium level of coverage (evens you out, hides red spots around mouth and nose.) The only reason I gave this 4 our of 5 lippies is because it could have been slightly more moisturising (i guess its due to the oil-free formula)- but its not a big deal as I wear moisturising sunscreen underneath anyway. Nice product, happy with my purchase.

Eyeliner -Stila - Smudge Pot in Jade
colombiana 4/27/2006 9:24:00 AM
This is something I purchased after a MO I had done recently and I really love it. I have a couple of fluidliners from mac that are great to but i like the way the smudgepot has a softer even subtle shimmer to it. Jade looks great against my medium skin tone. I use it on both the top and bottom lids with the stila no. 15 brush. For daytime i apply it as a clean line and for night I smudge it for a nice smokey effect. Looks great layered over my LM metallic cream e/s too. I want to try the other smudgepots and this is a great product!

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
colombiana 4/15/2006 12:36:00 PM
I got this as a sample with purchase at SpaceNK. I had never used any philosophy products so I was curious to see if it was any good. Unfortunatley I was not impressed by this product! It failed to do the main thing I look for in a cleanser which is actually remove my makeup! Yes it is gentle enough, which is a definitely plus for it but after washing for a few minutes I still had my cream e/s and smudgepot liner on (and i dont even wear heavy/lots of makeup!) Maybe if you wear no makeup and are looking for a gentle cleanser this could be your thing but I'm sure for the price you can do a lot better. I will stick with the Sanctuary Cleansing Balm for now!

Makeup Brushes -Prescriptives - Foundation brush
colombiana 4/15/2006 12:30:00 PM
After a long deliberation and reading many reviews on MUA, I finally decided to get this foundation brush and man I am SO glad I did. I had been using my LM moisturising foundation for ages with my fingers and never really was pleased with the look but one go with this brush and what a difference! No streaks, it really gives me a flawless finish and makes the most of my HG foundation. Really pleased with it and would definitely reccomend this brush to others.
