Treatments -TiGi - Treat Me Right (Peppermint Hair Mask)
colleen_co 7/8/2011 7:37:00 PM
I absolutely looooove this hair mask. The peppermint tingles and feels clean and fresh especially in the summertime. I try to use it once a week and afterwords my hair is so insanely soft, looks repaired and easily gets straight. I get my hair bleached and colored often so my hair is starting to get damaged, especially at the ends. This is truly a spa-like treatment, from the smell to the results it gives. Once I do straighten my hair I can keep that style for days without washing too. This condition doesn't produce build up at all, and I commonly have that problem with conditioners either causing build up or making my hair greasy. The only thing that's a little annoying is how it comes in this tub like container. Sometimes the lid is hard to twist on and off. But I do like being able to sink my hands into the stuff and get a whole lot to really "mask" my hair with it. I wish they offered a bigger size. I hope they never stop making it.

Cleansers -Kiehls - Photo-Age Corrector Deep-Action Exfoliating Cleanser
colleen_co 7/8/2011 7:18:00 PM
This is probably the best cleanser I own. I like to switch things up with my cleansers so I rotate about 3 and they are all Kiehl's at the moment. This stuff seriously smells so good - definitely an orangey citrus scent as the reviewer below said, too. I also have to agree with her about the squeaky clean feeling. I have never felt so clean after washing my face. This would be ideal for an oily type skin. A little goes a very long way and as soon as water kits it it suds up nice and gets thick and creamy. There's very fine exfoliation beads, too, and for that reason I try to use it every other day. Works wonderfully with the Clarisonic. I love using it after a sweaty workout bc of how clean my skin feels after using it. I'm not entirely sure how this would work on someone with dry skin though and I also cannot vouch for it removing age spots bc it hasn't done anything like that for me, however, I am not using the whole Photo-Age line yet. This is definitely my number one fave cleanser right now and I'll be repurchasing over and over. Also Kiehl's has a recycling program now so that's a plus. And also Kiehl's is always willing to make you up a generous sample. (at least that has been my experience)

Fragrances -Thierry Mugler - Alien
colleen_co 6/25/2011 8:05:00 PM
I loved this scent when I first tested it. However, after buying it and wearing it, I couldn't smell it after 15 minutes. I thought it was going to be a really strong scent like Angel, but sadly, for me, it was not. I guess it just depends on your body chemistry. I do think it was pretty expensive, too. It was like $80 for an ounce. Packaging was very pretty and cool that you can refill the bottle. I did end up returning it for Thierry Mugler Cologne, which I should have bought to begin with.

Hair Color -Amphigory - Special Effects in Deep Purple
colleen_co 11/17/2010 12:56:00 PM
I use either Special Effects or Jerome Russell Punk Color on my hair. As far as purple shades go I think Special Effects wins that category hands down. This Deep Purple color goes on as a deep dark purple but after a few washes shows up like a true vibrant dark purple. As it fades, it stays purple but fades to more of a dark lavender. The less you wash the longer it stays bright. I like mixing this color up with a dark blue and/or a dark bright pink. I think it is my fave SE purple, although Pimpin Purple is pretty, too.

Hair Color -Amphigory - Special Effects in Virgin Rose
colleen_co 11/17/2010 12:51:00 PM
This is one of my top 3 colors. It starts as a deep magenta color that could look like a pinkish purple or a dark pink. As it fades out it actually gets to be a bright dark pink shade, which is one of the reasons why I love it so much. It looks absolutely awesome next to black hair. As the other reviewers said it can make a mess when applying it and also on towels and pillow cases, etc. That's the price ya pay for having wacky colored hair I guess. I love it though!

Hair -Jerome Russell - Punky Color
colleen_co 11/17/2010 12:48:00 PM
I have been using these little jars of hair color for years now. I use this brand and also Special Effects. I do think the color lasts longer with these though. I have used Atlantic Blue, Violet, Flamingo Pink, and Poppy Red. They all apply very bright, that is over bleached hair, and last a good few wks with minimal washing. I try to wash my hair every other day. I basically had my hair originally bleached out at the salon and then I "touch up" the color with these from home. You have to touch colors like this up often. It can be messy, but I am used to it and I have a routine down. You can get these at Ulta now, too. Also punk.com has great prices on these and Special Effects. Oh and these smell good too, not weird like some of the other bright colored hair dyes.

Eyeliner -MAC - Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in Petrol Blue
colleen_co 11/15/2010 3:27:00 PM
I actually bought two of these pencils since MAC has a habit of making everything cool limited edition. I hate that. I probably should have bought more though because I am officially in love with this pencil. I was looking for a dupe for MAC's Fly By Blu pencil from last yr that I am almost out of. I think this is really very close to that color. It's a dark electric blue with tiny glitter flakes. The glitter doesn't really show up for me at all so it is mostly a glimmery electric blue. It is more warm toned then cool IMO, too. It goes on like all Pearlglides, like butter. It stays on well, but if you rub your eyes with your hands it will smudge and sometimes is a little smudgey on the bottom. A good eyeshadow to go over the liner that is similar in color, which also can make it last longer without smudging, is MAC Deep Truth. Overall, this is a really awesome color!

Treatments -Philosophy - Miracle Worker Retinoid Pads
colleen_co 8/6/2010 3:41:00 PM
I am so sorry to have to write a bad review for these pads. I so wanted to love them. I have been using them for two weeks now, occassionally missing one day in between, but without any good results. I have, however, started breaking out along my jawline and forehead and I know it is because of these pads. They do feel oily and when you rub it into your face they are moisturizing, but I think they are too oily for my combo skin. I do not normally breakout so I know these pads are not agreeing with my skin. Also I feel for the price, around $80, these should do a lot more. I do not notice any brightening or evening out of the skintone at all. I have a sunspot that I can see no difference in. I also used the pad on the back of my left hand (and not the right) and didn't see a bit of a difference. This is just me though. I know there's tons of glowing reviews here and on QVC.com. I do have one good tip though: Cut the pads in half and they will last a whole lot longer. Using only half is still more than enough of the treatment to do your entire face, neck and hands.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Quite Natural
colleen_co 3/11/2010 12:38:00 AM
Like Lexi below I bought this to use on my brows after seeing it on Kandee on Youtube. It works perfectly for this purpose and it really does blend or smudge if you make a mistake. I like to use the 266 for application. I do notice that sometimes by the end of the day it wears away. I will go over it with a brow powder when I want real staying power. I think this little jar just might last forever for my brows! I haven't used it as an eye base yet but plan to try it. It isn't the prettiest color to wear alone so I doubt I will be doing that. We'll see.

Blush -NARS - Luster
colleen_co 3/11/2010 12:31:00 AM
Wow! This is a seriously awesome blush. I like to use it very subtley personally. I apply it with my MAC skunk brush to my cheekbones very gently and it gives me a glow with a slight bronze. Sometimes if I am feeling more dramatic I throw on another layer and it makes me perfectly bronzed. I don't notice much peach or apricot tones. For me it is mostly a light bronze. I am a C3 complexion. This was $26, which is steep for a blush but it is well worth the price and will last a long time.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Craze in Morbid
colleen_co 3/11/2010 12:24:00 AM
Beautiful color - it's like others have said a blackened teal green. It looks different in many lights. It's different and not like any other polish I have by OPI, ChG or Essie. It went on very, very well. I almost took off one point though for the packaging. I hate the big plastic lid and the stout bottle and brush. It was hard to apply with that big round plastic lid and then such a short little brush, but hey, what do ya expect for $2 I guess! It's also less polish then a normal, standard nail polish. It's .34 ounces instead of .5.

Polishes -China Glaze - Recycle
colleen_co 2/6/2010 11:33:00 PM
I like it but don't absolutely love it. It's a true grey creme. It has no shimmer, glimmer, glitter or holo. It did show up darker on my nails then in the bottle and it was a tad on the watery side for application, but nothing too bad. So far it's the best grey creme I have come across although I would like to try the AA one.

Polishes -China Glaze - Flying Dragon
colleen_co 1/22/2010 4:11:00 PM
I absolutely love this color. This is getting only 4 out of 5 stars though for two reasons: it doesn't look at all like it does in the bottle and because it isn't shiny, it is matte. I used SV top coat and it turned out super glossy despite the matteness of it. I was surprised actually how matte it was. It looks bright neon purple in the bottle but shows up more like a dark true purple, which I happen to love. It's a true purple, not a blue purple or a pink purple or a red purple - it's just purple. Even in dark lit rooms it still looks purple and not black. It isn't so dark that it looks black which is a plus if you are looking for a good purple. This color totally works for any season, too. It has tiny specks of bright fuschia but they pretty much disappeared entirely. Applied really nice but you need 2 or 3 coats.

Eyeliner -MAC - Smolder eye kohl
colleen_co 1/14/2010 3:46:00 PM
I cannot believe I never did a review for this eyeliner. It's my HG. I never leave home without it on and in my bag. I have been using it for 5+ years and it has never failed me. It's the blackest black I can find. I love using it as a base for "Carbon" e/s to give me a really intense black lined eye. It tight-lines perfectly, it stays put, it will blend in if I need to smudge it a bit, I can do a fine line if I sharpen it up real good. I have also rubbed it out on my hand and applied it all over my eye with a brush and used it as almost a black cream eyeshadow base and it works wonderfully for that. (I picked that up from a MAC artist yrs ago.) If I don't have time to do a full eye MU look I can just throw on a neutral shadow and quickly line my eyes with this and I am good to go. The price is decent and it lasts a while. I don't sharpen it too often because I don't mind using it when it gets dull and bc it lasts longer that way, too. There's not much else I can say - I really love this eyeliner a lot!

Polishes -China Glaze - Avalanche
colleen_co 1/12/2010 12:03:00 AM
Wow! This is an awesome lilac/gunmetal/silver chrome polish. Depends on what lighting you are in for how it looks. It's so cool. Very shiny. Only thing is it is a pain to apply. It was super streaky the first coat, it did get significantly better with the 2nd coat. The streakyness isn't too obvious after SV top coat and the chromeness of the polish. It's really worth the trouble cause it is a unique color. I did have trouble at the cuticles with it, too, like another reviewer said. It is def great as a base coat for glitter. I used it under OPI's Mad as a Hatter and it looked great. Def a unique polish but one point off for the consistency/application issues.
