Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Galderma - Epiduo (aka Tactuo in Canada)

I have had acne since I was a teen and most of the time it's not too bad. Most of the time, I have 1 or 2 pimples or hyperpigmentation scars but it's not terrible. I've tried OTC benzoyl peroxide, proactiv, topical erythromycin and finacea. But after a while, the products wouldn't work for me. Over the past year, I've had cystic acne that's been terrible. I will have no fewer than 5 large cysts that are red, inflammed and painful. I tried the stuff that I've listed above again and nothing worked. My dermatologist wrote Epiduo for me and I can honestly say that my skin looks better. I am still getting my breakouts but whenever I use Epiduo, it flattens it by the next morning and it doesn't get cystic or as painful as they use to be. What acne I do have starts healing up faster than usual. The hyperpigmentation scars are still present but I can deal with that. This product does dry my skin out so I'm using a moisturizer after I put this on. I had to take away one lippie because of the price. Other than that, I love this product!

Sunscreen -Banana Boat - Kids Tear Free SPF 50
rated 3 of 5

This is not a bad sunscreen but I wouldn't use this on my face. I'm prone to breakouts and this sunscreen is too thick and oily for my face. Better to use this on your body.

Sunscreen -Coppertone - Sensitive Skin Faces SPF 50
rated 2 of 5
coldblue 9/10/2010 6:28:00 AM

I originally picked this product because I have combination oily-dry skin that's prone to break outs and I was hoping to find a relatively inexpensive sunscreen that wouldn't break me out. While this product didn't break me out, it did leave a white cast all over my face. My husband noticed it immediately and told me to rub it in more. My face still had a slight whitish tinge to it. I had to dust powder over it to make the sunscreen look like it was part of my natural color (I have an olive complexion). It's also too dry for me so I had to put extra moisturizer over it. I don't think that this was the right sunscreen for me and won't be repurchasing it.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Nadinola - Fade Cream
rated 5 of 5
coldblue 2/11/2010 4:57:00 PM

I just bought this cream after trying Murad's age spot and pigment lightning gel. Murad has 2% hydroxyquinone and Nadinola has 3%. I used Murad for a few weeks before I saw a noticeable difference in my age spots. After only 3 days, I can see a difference with Nadinola. In addition, Nadinola only costs about $5 whereas Murad costs about $65. I would definitely repurchase Nadinola. It works for me and didn't cause me to break out (and I have acne-prone skin).

Moisturizers -Nivea - Creme

I just discovered the Nivea Creme and I absolutely love it. I love the consistency and texture of the moisturizer, I love the packaging and most importantly, I love how my skin looks. It is like La Mer but at a tiny fraction of the cost. It is just wonderful!

Moisturizers -La Mer - Creme de la mer moisturizer
rated 3 of 5
coldblue 10/10/2009 1:44:00 PM

I used to frequently purchase La Mer because a lot of celebrities said that they use it and because I thought that my skin looked better. However, I would periodically get break outs with it which I hated. The oil-free lotion form (in the pump) I felt wasn't the same as the original creme de la mer in the jar. The lotion was too light and didn't deliver the same results. The last time I purchased la mer was about 8 yrs ago because I just couldn't get over the exorbitant price. Now, because others at MUA have posted about Nivea creme, I quickly went out to purchase it to see if it was like La Mer. Let me tell you, from my perspective, it's the same! It has the same consistency, smell, and results. However, I haven't noticed any breakouts with Nivea yet. I'm so happy that you all told me about Nivea (I haven't been with MUA for a long time so this is a new discovery for me.) Thanks!!!

Treatments -Murad - Age Spot and Pigment Lightening Gel
rated 4 of 5
coldblue 5/21/2009 10:32:00 AM

Like others who have posted here, I've been looking for a long time for a product that would lighten my age spots. I've tried ROC age diminishing moisturizer and OTC products with retin-A but have not seen a dramatic effect. What use to work for me was an Estee Lauder product called Diminish but they no longer sell this. This Murad age spot treatment really works for me. I had a sizeable (sizeable to me anyways--about the size of a pencil eraser) spot on my cheek that I've had for 4 years and when I used this Murad age spot treatment, it has significantly lightened it in just 2 weeks. I think that over the next 1-2 weeks it'll completely fade away. I do have a number of other smaller spots that are darker that this treatment hasn't worked as well on. I only use this product as a spot treatment and not over my entire face and neck, and I did not experience any splotchy discoloration from my natural skin color. Instead, it just fades the darker spots. This really worked for me (at least for the spot that I'm most bothered by) and I would repurchase it if necessary. I also use a moisturizer in the a.m. with SPF 15 during the day.

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Aquaphor - Baby - Healing Ointment
rated 5 of 5
coldblue 5/6/2009 11:42:00 AM

I absolutely love this product. My skin is really dry over the cheek areas and around the nose, but this smooths out my dry patches like nothing else. Even the neutrogena products that I thought would work wonders can't compare. This is a staple in my home.

Treatments -Prescriptives - Skin Renewal Cream
rated 1 of 5
coldblue 5/6/2009 11:12:00 AM

The SA recommended this product for me since it has retinol in it and would likely give me the same effect as estee lauder's diminish (why won't they bring this product back? It worked for me!). Boy was she wrong. It didn't even out my skin tone or lighten any of my discolorations. It was a big waste of time and money. To top it off, it made my skin turn red and made some areas peel. I think my skin looks worse because of it. I definitely won't be repurchasing this!

Cleansers -Peter Thomas Roth - Glycolic Acid 3% Facial Wash
rated 1 of 5
coldblue 2/1/2009 4:41:00 PM

A sales associate who examined my skin recommended this product to me to help skin turnover and to help uncover newer skin below. I have combination skin (oily t-zone and dry cheek areas) and used this product every other day initially for a week and then 1x/week. This dried my skin out like crazy. Even when I reduced it to 1x/week, it was still too much for my skin. I won't be repurchasing this.

Skincare - Face -Kinerase - Brightening Serum
rated 1 of 5
coldblue 2/1/2009 4:20:00 PM

From the other reviews posted here, I was hoping that I would like this product. The brightening serum does contain a pearl extract but as soon as you wash it off, there's no longer any brightening properties. Save you money and your time for something else. Fortunately, I had kept my receipt and was able to get a full refund. For something that costs this much, I want a product that delivers. I tried this for 2 months before I returned it.

Moisturizers -RoC - Age Diminishing Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15
rated 3 of 5
coldblue 11/26/2008 6:13:00 PM

Not a bad product. This does lighten some of my age spots but only after you use it religiously for at least 2 months. Some of the darker age spots have not yet faded. I may repurchase it since it has some SPF in it.

Moisturizers -Kinerase - Ultimate Day Moisturizer
rated 2 of 5
coldblue 11/26/2008 6:07:00 PM

At first, I really liked this product because I thought my skin looked brighter and more even in texture. However, after using this consistently for 2 months, my skin began to look dull and too dry. This didn't deliver as expected.

Sunscreen -Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55
rated 2 of 5
coldblue 11/26/2008 6:00:00 PM

I wish the name and description of the product truly delivered on what it says it will do. I was really hoping that this sunblock would be ultra sheer and dry to the touch, but instead it left a slightly pasty appearance and actually made me look pale and sick. I think my skin looked worse when I used this product because I looked like a pasty zombie devoid of circulation. I also experienced the stinging sensation that other reviewers talked about. Save your money and time for something better.

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - Light Blue
rated 5 of 5
coldblue 11/11/2008 4:55:00 PM

Say what you want, but IMHO D&G's light blue fragrance is the best. It is subtle, clean, and not overwhelming. It is not cutesy, nor too floral or sweet. It won't give you or others around you a headache when you use it. It is the only one that my husband likes of all of the fragrances out there.
