Loose Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Matte Finishing Veil
rated 4 of 5
cocacolagirl 11/2/2007 6:42:00 PM

I am only taking away one lipstck because of the awful packaging and brush. The powder does not come out on the brush, unless you shake really really hard for an hour! lol. The brush itself is too rough and hard. The travel like brush packaging is useless. You'll have to pour this stuff out into another packaging type or another travel mineral brush brand. I poured most of my mineral veil in an empty mineral sifter jar and use a goat hair powder brush purchased from Everyday Minerals. I am in love with the mineral veil powder because it leaves the skin so matte and fresh looking for hours. It makes pores disappear and it does not really show any streaks! I like this mineral veil more than the Everyday Minerals balancing dust or their finishing powder.

Primer/ Corrector -Clinique - Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector
rated 5 of 5
cocacolagirl 8/22/2007 7:05:00 PM

This product is great! It reduces the size of the pores and makes the skin look smoother. It somehow helps the skin's glow. This product last all day until I wash my makeup off. One little challenge is when I apply liquid foundation. On the days I wear my 'Origins Reflection Perfection' mattifying foundation, I cannot apply this product before my foundation or it will rub off when I apply the foundation. If I apply this stuff after my liquid foundation it is easier but I still have to be careful. On the days I wear my 'Everyday Minerals Powder Mineral Foundation,' there are no problems applying this stuff before it. As a bonus, this product keeps oilies at bay. This product does not make me break out and for those of you that do get breakouts from this....maybe you should try the Clinique Thermal-Active Skin Refiner.

Scrubs -Origins - Modern Friction
rated 5 of 5
cocacolagirl 8/21/2007 9:06:00 PM

First, this not not a scrub. Origins does not label this as a 'scrub' as it says so on the 'Origins online guide' from their website. Many people refer to this as a scrub? Some people have referred to it as a scrub mainly because they have experienced getting more intense microdermbrasion treatments and feel this does not come to close to microdermbrasion or other brands of home microdermbrasions. That does not mean it can be called a scrub. Plus, with this microdermbrasion product and ANY home microdermbrasion, anyone can CONTROL the agressiveness and length of treatment time when applying the product on their face. I personally rub this on my face for about 10 minutes and I do it agressively, meaning I rub my face pretty harsh. If this product is too gentle for anyone and not effective, just use it more aggressively and for a longer amount of time. A scrub is marketed to CLEAN the dirt, makeup, blackheads, etc. off the skin and to be used with WATER. No where on the product description of 'Modern Friction' does it say that the product IS a scrub and nowhere does it say this product performs any actions of a scrub (cleaning; removing dirt, makeup, blackheads, etc). Here is the product description from the website.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- " Modern Friction™ Nature's gentle dermabrasion Sand-blasting skin with coarse, chemical crystals? How painfully passé. Here’s age-erasing exfoliation without irritation. Skin-refining Rice Starch, cushioned in cream, shows real affinity for rapidly removing sluggish cells, uneven patches and signs of skin damage and discolorations. Lemon Oil kick starts the process of illumination. Another age-sweeping action: skin-menacing molecules are mopped up. All while Aloe keeps skin calm and comfy. There’s no ouch, extra steps or other complications. No redness or flaking follows. The before-and-afters are amazing. Signs of fine lines and size of pores appear to shrink in size. Skin looks perfectly polished, smooth and luminous. And the perk-me-up aromas of Bergamot and Peppermint help you look on the bright side. " -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is the information from their 'Online Guide.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- " Is Modern Friction™ a scrub? No, it is a buffing paste. It's recommended to use this product on dry skin for best results. Modern Friction™ delivers all the amazing age-erasing benefits of dermabrasion such as: Improving texture and reducing fine lines Minimizing signs of photo-damage Evening out skin tone Restoring your skin with a youthful glow " ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Anyways, as far as the important rating towards the 5 stars, I have to say this product does an excellent job. It DOES brighten the skin and makes it glow with or without makeup. It does improve my skin texture. I am using this product on a regular basis and probably will for a long time. In fact, I use it 4 times a week and I scrub my face pretty intensely. The good thing about this product is that YOU can CONTROL It does not cause me to breakout and YES, I have used other home microdermbrasion treatments that caused me to breakout. Oh yeah, I don't care about the smell. This product does not smell girly, fruity or perfumy, but, Who Cares? The important factors here are supposed to be the RESULTS of the product, not the smell. I mean, come on, whether the product has a good OR bad smell; how is a smell going to help you get good or bad results?? It would be dumb to like the results of the product and because of the smell....you dump or ditch the product? Please. For those who cannot stand the smell.........Do yourself a favor and just cover your nose.

Treatments -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - TCA Peel
rated 3 of 5
cocacolagirl 8/18/2007 6:23:00 PM

I tried every TCA strength peel they sell for about 1-2 years. I did a peel about once a month. That was about 1 year ago. I must say the good results are temporary. The fresh renewed, smooth skin only look good and smooth for about 2 months after doing the last treatment. I would do the treatments for the purpose of my acne scars (To clear up any confusion, when I say 'acne scars,' I literally mean indented, pitted acne scarring and I'm not referring to red, purple, brown marks, etc. or hyperpigmentation as people refer to 'acne scarring' as hyperpigmentation.). When I stopped doing the peels about a year ago, I noticed my acne scarring seemed rough again. I guess, these peels have to be done on a regular basis to maintain your skin to look smooth, clear, younger and refreshed.

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Powder
rated 4 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/12/2007 6:39:00 PM

For a drugstore mineral powder it is pretty good. Physician's Formula does not label this product as a 'foundation'. Some people on here have referred to it as a mineral foundation. I would not consider it like mineral foundation because when wearing this mineral powder alone it does not have the longer lasting staying power of a mineral powder foundation. It gives good coverage but not as a good as an actual mineral powder foundation. When this powder is applied over a mineral foundation it gives good coverage, covers large pores and hides redness. It has pretty good staying power. I don't use this product's kabuki brush. I use the 'Everyday Minerals' baby kabuki brush instead. I think the baby kabuki brush that comes with this product is horrible. The hairs of the brush are not soft and if you apply the powder with this brush over a mineral foundation it seems to wipe off some of your mineral foundation. I have found when wearing a non-mineral long lasting foundation such as 'MaxFactor Long Lasting' this brush does not wipe off the foundation. However, I hardly wear non-mineral foundation and wear mostly a powder mineral foundation (Everyday Minerals Matte Foundation).

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Sunlight Color Corrector
rated 5 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/11/2007 7:52:00 PM

I love this concealer. It does reduce the bags I have under my eyes and it brightens my eyes and makes them appear larger! The concealer is great to use by the inner eyes to wake up the tired morning look. The only negative is the concealer is a little too light yellow compared to my more pinkish face skin. If I apply it with my EM concealer brush I cant seem to blend it in well. (Maybe it's the EM brush? I dk. I have not yet tried another concealer brush from another brand) Anyway, I have to apply my EM foundation powder over the concealer and then use my fingers to do some blending. After I do that it looks perfect, but it's no bother for me to have to apply the mineral powder foundation over the concealer and then use my fingers to blend in. I give this product 5 stars.

I have never even tried this product and I already HATE the brand!!..LOL...I've read on here and on badbusinessbureau.com that they THEY ARE A SCAM! They take people's money and much more negative stuff!! I've never considered trying it because it always looked like a bunch of cheap junk on TV to me. The products still look like junk. They are NOW CALLED 'AVC CARE' ON MAKEUPCONNECTION.COM! I hope they go down because I AM PRETTY SURE THEY STILL ARE A SCAM!! DON'T SUPPORT OR BUY THEIR PRODUCTS! I HOPE THEY GO DOWN!

Powder -Isadora - Mineral foundation Powder 01 Light Apricot
rated 1 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/6/2007 8:14:00 PM

This product is not good if you have oily skin. For those of you who have oily skin, it makes skin more oily. It does not give enough coverage. I had to use Everyday Minerals green concealer to get good coverage. I don't feel the Isadora kabuki brush is any good.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation Matte Formula
rated 5 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/6/2007 6:45:00 PM

My review is a different one. I have 2 different scenarios(using EM Matte before and after a series of some dermatology aesthetic treatments) and therefore 2 different reviews(a negative and a positive). To give you a background about my skin type.....I am naturally acne-prone and and I have naturally oily, greasy skin. I decided one day that I wanted to try mineral powder foundation and 'EM Matte Foundation' was the first 'powder' mineral foundation that I bought. After using EM my thoughts about it went from positive to negative and then back to positive. Why?? When I first applied it, I thought it gave me a flawless, matte, great coverage look, despite the fact that I had acne cysts and other types of acne pimples on my face. It actually covered my bad acne!! Here comes the negative part of the review....... 2 hours later, I'm still in the air conditioned building (did not step outside) and I look in the mirror. Oh No! Very oily skin is what I see. It looked more oily than when I was using 'Revlong Colorstay'! I looked like I was sweating!..and I never looked like I sweating when I was using the 'Colorstay.' With Colorstay, I only looked liked I was sweating when I went outside in the hot, humid weather!..........Okay, here comes the 'back to positive' review. First, I must, must explain the background relating to what I did to my acne-prone, oily skin because it would be a bit biased to not include that information. It would not be fair to everyone reading this for me to say that EM Matte Foundation decided to fully work on me one day without stating what I did ADDITIONALLY to my skin before giving 'EM Matte Foundation' a permanent good reputation......Okay, heres what I did ADDITIONALLY. Since I was diagnosed with 'adult female hormonal acne,' my dermatologist suggested I get a series(3-6) of laser resurfacing treatments called 'Smoothbeam Laser' ($150 a pop). I was skeptical! I had doubt that this would work. I asked 100 questions, literally! My most concerned question was 'Besides treating existing ugly acne, does this PREVENT acne?' He explained that this treatment kills my overactive sebaceous glands and the sebaceous glands( what causes my oily skin) is what causes the acne. Well, after the first 2 treatments(1 each month), my skin improved greatly! Improved on the acne, reduced my oily skin, smaller pores, even skin tone! I felt confident to try using my EM Matte Foundation again that I had stashed for 3 months. Well, this time it was not oiliness after 2 hours. My skin looked airbrushed and my face did not get oily! My pores looked invisible! I decided to get one more treatment and my skin improved even more....Very little oil, way less breakouts and smaller pores!! Now, I am satisfied with EM Matte Foundation! It has been 2 months that I have been using it and the $450 I spent on the laser treatments was worth it for me in the long run.

Powder -Palladio - Wet/Dry foundation
rated 5 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/19/2004 6:57:00 PM

This one is similar to "Beauticontrol Wet/Dry Compact Foundation"(I think it's called that). Anyway, Palladio's compact foundation is definately for people with combination or oily skin. Even Beauticontrol recommends their compact foundation to be for combination/oily skin. People with dry skin can use it too, but I've found out from other women that dry skin people will probably dislike it because it looks more cakey on them and will make their skin seem more dry. I'm a combination skin person so I like it for the good coverage and matte look. No, the color selection is not all that great but the color I use is okay for me. If you want a better selection of shades try "Beauticontrol Wet/Dry Compact Foundation."

Conditioner -Paul Mitchell - The Conditioner
rated 3 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/15/2004 3:33:00 AM

This leave-in is pretty good to moisturize. I have to use alot of it though because of the fact that it does not glide on my hair easily. I don't like the feel of it and it makes it hard to apply to my curly hair.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Lash Architect Mascara Waterproof Formula
rated 4 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/15/2004 3:27:00 AM

I like this mascara because I only have to apply a few coats. It does not take me a long time to apply like other mascaras. This waterproof one clumps less than the regular one. This mascara can clump easily if you repeatedly coat the lashes. Of course, anyone can control the degree on how much mascara they want on their lashes.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Lash Out
rated 4 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/15/2004 3:21:00 AM

I used this mascara for a long time and it really extends the length of my lashes. I really did not get much clumping with it. I only dislike using this mascara when I'm wearing eyeglasses because the lashes get so long it touches the lenses.

Conditioner -Redken - Fresh Curls Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/13/2004 3:26:00 AM

I really like this leave-in. I think the smell is great. It's not a feminine or fruity smell but I can smell that coconut oil in there. This leave-in contains coconut oil and my hair loves it. It's very easy to apply on my coarse thick curls. It glides and spreads on so easy when applying it therefore I do not have to apply too much. It leaves my curls moisturized and gives it great definition. My curls end up spiraly.

Masks -Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque
rated 4 of 5
cocacolagirl 7/13/2004 3:18:00 AM

This is a great drug store mask. It really does minimize the pores the next day after using it the previous night. It does shrink pimples also. It leaves the skin very smooth the next day. The only thing I do not like is the tube it came in when I purchased it. It's hard to squeeze out. I know they now sell it in a plastic container instead of a tube.
