Styling Products -Aveda - Control Paste

Does a good job of smoothing the poofiness that my wavy hair gets when it's cut short, and gives it a piecy look without looking greasy or product-y. I think it smells great, but it is definitely an Aveda-y scent. I scrape out just a tiny bit (pea-sized? less?) with the top of my fingernail, rub it into my palm, and then add a bit of water to make it easier to apply. My husband likes to use this too to give his hair some control and a little pieciness (although I prefer the scent of the Aveda Men's Grooming Clay on him).

Lip Treatments -Aveda - Lip Saver

HG lip balm! I've used this off and on for over 10 years now, I stray only because the price is a little ridiculous. Originally discovered this as a teen when I was on Accutane, it was the only thing that saved me from having cracked, bleeding lips. It's still the best lasting, most moisturizing balm that I've found.

Conditioner -Giovanni - Smooth As Silk Conditioner
rated 4 of 5

Love this, found a big bottle for cheap at Marshall's a few months ago, guessing it will probably last most of a year on my slightly longer than shoulder length, wavy, thirsty hair. Works well as a conditioner after co-washing, I do feel like the matching shampoo was too drying for me when I used it previously. This has very good slip, doesn't stop moisturizing over time like the 50-50 did for me. Works well in higher dew points, detangles like a charm, works well with the Icequeen method (flip head over, scrunch conditioner in to promote clumping of waves/curls, rinse) or works well if I'm combing my hair out to be semi-straight.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clarisonic - Pro Skincare Brush
rated 5 of 5

Have been using the Clarisonic faithfully every day for a year now, which is really something for me as I tend to get bored with beauty products and go off looking for the new best thing quite regularly. Like using it with creamy cleansers best. I owned a Pretika that died in a few months before I bought this, I definitely feel like my skin looks smoother and more glowy with the Clarisonic than with the Pretika, and this has survived me klutzily dropping it in the shower a bunch of times, which is what killed the Pretika. This served me well when I started using Retin-A and SRCP's, kept the flakies completely at bay without irritating my face. Helps keep congestion in my pores to a minimum, and any blackheads that I still get are fairly easy to extract. The body brush is a nice addition too, I tend to use it once a week or so to exfoliate, makes my body soft and smooth.

Conditioner -Giovanni - triple treat tea tree conditioner
rated 5 of 5

Was thrilled to find a huge bottle for cheap at Marshall's a few months ago, bummed that they were out when I went back to buy more. I use this as a daily co-wash, regular price on the small bottles makes that cost-prohibitive due to the amount that I use, but it works very well. My sometimes flaky, easily irritated scalp is calm and happy, my hair is clean and bouncy, and my little frizzy broken flyaway halo is mostly smoothed down. Seems to be working well during the transition from hot, humid weather to cooler, drier fall weather, dew points don't seem to make a difference in how much I like this.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Lustrasilk Shea Butter Cholesterol Plus
rated 5 of 5

Dirt cheap, leaves my hair shiny, gives my waves a little more bounce, smells nice. I use a ton b/c it's a little thin once it's in your hair and doesn't have a ton of slip, however the end result is well worth it, and it's so cheap that I don't mind using a little more. Have used it as an overnight conditioning treatment with a cap with good results, but usually leave it on for 5-10 min once a week in the shower. Plays well with my no-poo routine, doesn't build up at all. I'm a serious product slut, but this has earned a permanent spot on my tub.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power - Cream Wash
rated 5 of 5

Yess! This is my summer HG for my starting to get drier, sensitive, congestion-prone, thirty-something face. Started with the scrub since it got such good reviews, got tired of having scrub particles stuck in my hairline or ear after washing, this is the same formula w/o the scrubby bits. Bit too drying for me in fall and winter, but perfect during the summer heat and humidity. Surprisingly not irritating for a 2% salicylic acid product, leaves my face feeling clean but not at all tight. This plus my Clarisonic does as good a job as anything to keep my face clear.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Luxe Black Cabernet
rated 4 of 5

Color is very subtle, don't notice the plummy reddish purple at all, however it definitely makes my blue-green eyes pop. Just barely darkens my dark brown lashes. Mascara formula is great, doesn't flatten curled lashes, 1 coat gets me a nice daytime look, 2 coats gets me a bolder, evening look. No issues with clumping, wand works fine to get all of my lashes.
