Lipstick -Revlon - Orange Flip
rated 3 of 5
cmars29 4/9/2012 10:40:00 PM

I picked up orange flip after reading so many reviews and watching youtube. I love the color, on my pigmented lips it shows up as a nice bright orange/red. The packaging is a nice solid plastic my biggest issue with this is the scent and taste; so many commented on how it reminded them of their moms or grandmothers, well, my mom didn't wear anything that smelled like this so there isn't any nostalgia here for me and I am pretty sensitive to scents - my husband said I smelled like old lady and wouldn't kiss me. There is also a strange taste, in the end this was the color is I wanted but could not get over the scent and had to return it.The color is so pretty and it has nice texture, if you can find it on sale it's not a bad price...I wouldn't pay more than $5 for this. If you are like me and want a nice orange/red you could give Mac Morange or Bite in Zinfendel a try, they are a little more pricey but no funky scent or taste.

Lipstick -NYX - Spell Bound (#644)
rated 5 of 5
cmars29 2/18/2012 9:25:00 PM

Love this color, absolutely gorgeous! I just recently got into pink, I always wore reds and berries but then I started seeing all these beautiful pink lips every where and I wanted in. I marched down to Mac and bought two pinks that look nice on me, while I love them I still was not satisfied, I felt there was a better one waiting for me. While at Ulta picking up my free gift I came across Spell Bound and I must say it lives up to it's name. I put it on and it instantly brightened up my face! I didn't have a lick of makeup and this gave me that little pop of fresh color. I do have pretty pigmented lips which I think helps tone down the brightness of the color, on me its a nice warm pink, it is a little matte; I tried it with a bit of gloss in the center of my lips and that was all I needed. I think this is a good color for warm and cool skin tones.

This is a really pretty red, not to dull and not to bright. It's a great daytime color. It has very tiny flecks of gold but I don't even notice.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustering
rated 5 of 5

This has become one of my favorite colors. I have pigmented lips and this colors shows up like a deep watermelon pink on me which I love; it really completes the look - just the right amount of color. I have tried so many pinks that don't show up or turn out to be a cool fushia color and looks horrible. This has to be my HG pink it's also one of my first MAC purchases...definitley getting another just in case it is discontinued!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Argan oil
rated 5 of 5
cmars29 5/24/2011 11:32:00 PM

I bought 4 oz from overstock.com from a company called Watts for $30. I have been using for about 2wks. So far I like it, it replaces my rose hip oil. It can be used from head to toe, which I love. I really like it as a moisterizer, it doesn't leave an oily residue. Just a drop or two is enough, if you try this oil try not to put any under the eye; it has made my mascara smudge a bit. I use it day and night on my face and in my hair. I don't think I have used this long enough to notice any major changes, one thing it hasn't caused any break outs so that's a plus!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Walgreens Maximum Strength Benzoyl Peroxide Gel
rated 5 of 5

I bought this last night, I have been battling some break out lately and when I felt two cystic zits brewing I remembered using BP in the past and ran out to Walgreens. It was on sale for $2.99, I actually wanted something around 1% or 5% but for the price I though what the hell. When I first squeezed some of the product out some water came out, I just closed the tube and shook it up a bit...no biggie. I did notice the grainy texture but don't really mind it, although I think the package is a bit deceiving; I expected it to be a gel kinda like toothpaste but it's watery. Anyways, I slathered the stuff on my problem areas, I gave it plenty of time to dry and sink in before moisturizing. The next morning my zits are less than 50% of what they were the previous day. This will be a staple product for me! I have only used it one day so I'm not sure how drying it is but with all BP type products I slather moisturized as a precaution.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Egyptian Magic Healing Cream
rated 3 of 5

Another product that leaves me on the fence. I purchased this to use a a moisterizer, it just doesn't absorb well and my face feels a tad greasy all day...not fun. For overnight use it's fine, the next morning my face does feel nice and soft, but there isn't anything magical about it; it didn't help to heal up any acne spots or prevent break outs; howvever, I do love all the natural ingredients! I wish I new about this when my daughter was a baby, I think it would be a great diaper ointment. If this was cheaper I would keep it around as for multipurpose use but at $20+ I don't think so.

Moisturizers -Weleda - Skin Food
rated 5 of 5
cmars29 2/6/2010 1:06:00 PM

I bought this back in the fall, here in GA it was a little to greasy to use in the warmer months. Now that it's cold and my skin is like a lizzards this has been my saving grace! I put a small bead on my finger then dab it on one side of my face and repeat on the other side, giving my skin time to warm it up then I massage in (if you don't warm it up a bit, it can feel tacky and pull your skin) once it's nicely smoothed on I give it time to sink in before applying my make up. My skin feels hydrated all day, I love the citrus scent - my husband loves it to. I like that you can buy a small tube for around $2; I found it at Target.

Cleansers -Mario Badescu - Enzyme Cleansing Gel
rated 4 of 5
cmars29 2/6/2010 12:44:00 PM

I like it's mild qualities and that it gets my skin clean and all my eye makeup off (even the toughest of eyeliners and mascaras.) I also like the way my skin doesn't feel tight or dry afterwards. I just hate the strong fake artifical fragrance, it really bothers me; this also contains parabens which I also hate. For those two things I took off a lippie. Its a good size bottle and you don't need a lot, so it will last quite a while. I don't think this really does anything for my skin as far as fighting breakouts but it doesn't cause any either, so overall I'm on the fence with this one. I'm not sure if I would buy again or not...most likely not.

Gels/Soaps -Alaffia - Everyday Shea Moisturizing Body Wash
rated 5 of 5
cmars29 2/6/2010 12:29:00 PM

I have been looking for a body wash/soap for a while that doesn't contain parabens, sls, and all the other crap, this product actually contains some of my favorite skin care ingredients! This is a huge bottle, 32 oz, for 10 bucks! It doesn't latter up a lot but that doesn't bother me. I bought unscented since I hate smelling like soap or other artifically fragrances. It really leaves my skin feeling soft and moisterized. It's a bit watery, again it doens't contain all the waxes that can clog your skin. Another great thing about this is 10% of sales goes a good cause. Ingredients: Neem Leaf extract, handcrafted shea butter soap (certified for fair trade), Virgin coconut oil, sucrose, cocamidopropyl betaine

Skincare - Body -Weleda - Wild Rose Body Oil
rated 5 of 5
cmars29 2/6/2010 12:09:00 PM

I have been looking for a body oil that does not contain mineral oil, parabans and parafins. I read about this oil here on MUA and had to try it. I found it at Whole Foods, it's a bit expensive but worth it. I love the way this makes my skin feel, smooth and soft. The first time I tried this I didn't care for the scent but it has grown on me and now I love it; The scent to me is a myrh/woodsy scent with slight rose undertones.

Eyes -MAC - Greasepaint Stick
rated 5 of 5
cmars29 10/18/2009 10:55:00 PM

I finally found an eyeliner that will stay put! I have very oily lids and most eyeliners will smudge in a less than an hour...not this one! I can wear it on my top and bottom lids without any smudging, if I want to tight line I do have to use my UDPP to keep it from smearing but I can't use it on my waterline, for some reason it just wont stay. I love how easy this glides on. I use an oil to take this off.

Polishes -Rimmel - 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Deliciously Dark
rated 5 of 5
cmars29 10/18/2009 11:56:00 AM

My review is based on the color and quality - I love this color! Like someone else said, it's a nice dark color without being black. I can wear this to work (conservative environment) without feeling over the top. The price is a fraction for what you would pay for higher end polishes and it lasts. I wore it for a week on my finger nails and it didn't chip or peel; on my toes I have worn it close to 2 weeks before touching up, it also keeps a nice shine. If you are looking for the "IT" color of the season give this one a try, it won't disappoint!

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto
rated 1 of 5
cmars29 10/18/2009 11:34:00 AM

I didn't care for this mascara. When I put this on it didnt' do anything for my lashes, no shine, no length, nada zip zilch. The other thing that really bothered me about this product was the fragrance, its like a light floral scent but I don't want to smell my mascara all day. I ended up returning it.

Lipstick -Vincent Longo - Lip Stain in Americana
rated 5 of 5
cmars29 3/27/2009 8:46:00 PM

I'm so jealous of those who were able to snag the baby at the Sephora sale!! I paid full price but I love the color so much! I don't think it's really a stain though but it does leave my lips moisterized. The color is so wearable by anyone!! there isn't a strong or noticable scent, it doesnt leave a funky tastes...I know these are strange things to mention but these are the things that turn me off! The color isn't too deep or to bright - I have tried many reds and this is by far my favorite!
