Mascara -L'Oreal - Voluminous in Carbon Black
rated 4 of 5
cloudzz 10/9/2011 5:26:00 PM

This is my favourite mascara at the drugstore level. I'm not giving it a 5 because it can still be improved. Overall, it is the best choice for me when I don't want to spend too much money on a mascara. It's rich black, and adds tons of volume and length to my lashes. However, it can become clumpy after a while. I only use it for a month or so before throwing it out, because it becomes goopy and gross really quickly. However, it does give me very dramatic lashes before it goes bad. Its drawback is that you will have to change mascaras more frequently, but other than that, I'm very happy with it.

Mascara -Fresh - Supernova
rated 4 of 5
cloudzz 10/9/2011 5:15:00 PM

I was hesitant to try Fresh mascaras because of the mixed reviews. So I bought the mini duo instead of the full sized ones to save some money in case they don't work for me. However, I was pleasantly surprised by them. I've used numerous mascaras, from Dior, Lancome, Guerlain, YSL, Armani to L'oreal, Maybelline, and Rimmel. Fresh Supernova is definitely one of the better ones. The Fresh mascaras strongly remind me of Dior, with their large brushes. They perform similarly to Diorshow as well (better than Dior Blackout and Iconic IMO). They separate my lashes really well, and gave absolutely no clumping after a couple coats. Fresh Supernova lengthened my lashes very well, but did not give much volume. Overall, it is a good mascara for everyday use, but I would not use it if I want really dramatic lashes. Although I like it, I'm not sure if I would repurchase due to its high price. It's not bad, but I can get something even better with the money. I would recommend it to others, but it's not my favourite. It's very good, but not perfect.

Mascara -Lancome - Definicils Mascara
rated 5 of 5

I used this mascara a few years back but didn't find it exceptional. However, when I gave it another try recently I was surprised to find how well it worked! It gives me extreme definition and length, not so much volume. No clumping, smudging, or whatsoever. It holds my curl pretty well. Two coats will deliver the perfect soft long lashes that I always wanted. It's also very easy to build up the look. Great mascara for a defined look!

Mascara -Maybelline - Define A Lash Volume Mascara
rated 2 of 5
cloudzz 11/7/2010 5:43:00 PM

This mascara claimed to give definition, which I found it fail to do. It clumps a little bit, which is quite disappointing. It gives some volume but it does stick my lashes together. It also makes my lashes stiff and crunchy. I have both the green and the red one, and I really can't tell the difference between the two beside the fact that the volume one is a bit darker in colour. Does not give me much length. The wand is too flimsy. Basically it is very mediocre, nothing exceptional. I will not buy this again for sure. There are just soo many better drugstore mascaras and I don't see why I will spend my money on this one again.

Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
rated 2 of 5
cloudzz 10/31/2010 4:04:00 PM

I bought this mascara simply because its large brush resembles that of Diorshow. I love my Diorshow but I had to throw it away a couple weeks ago due to my eye infection, and I just invested in a Guerlain Le 2 De Volumizing Mascara, so I did not have much money to buy another Diorshow. Its brush is quite similar to Diorshow and its formula is quite dry as well. I love large brush and dry formula for mascaras, but this seems a bit too dry. I haven't been using it for a long time but I can see it drying on me in a month after first use. This might be something to consider if you want a mascara that will last. My first impression of this mascara was not very good. It seemed not only dry but a bit clumpy and sticky as well. However, after a few applications, I found that the mascara does not clump up my lashes. It is very light weight, thus does not weigh my lashes down. Nor does it give me stiff lashes. It leaves your lashes full and soft. This mascara does not give very dramatic fat lashes. It gives a very natural fanned out look instead. Just like Diorshow, it makes you look as if you have more lashes than you really do. It also adds very good length, much more so than volume. I would recommend this to those who want natural full lash look. I have very dry skin and also live in a dry area, so I never had much problem with mascaras smearing on me (except with MAC zoom lash). I also thought the lash growth thing is just gimmick, so it did not bother me when I didn't have any extra lash growth. Buy again? No. This is one of the best drugstore mascaras for me, but it does not last long. Quite similar to Diorshow but still not at the same level yet. I would rather spend a bit more in a Dior mascara which will give me better result and last longer, but I do not regret buying this. Probably a good buy when you have too many mascaras open at one time but still want to try something new. In that case it would be a waste to buy Diorshow and this could be a good substitute. Update: This mascara dries out too fast. I only have had it for about 3 weeks and hardly any product goes onto the brush anymore. So now it's only good for the very natural looks. One lippie down for me.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Fusion
rated 4 of 5
cloudzz 10/27/2010 2:35:00 PM

This mascara is good, but nothing extraordinary. This mascara sort of does what it claims to do: separates, stays, lengthens, and volumizes(a bit). However, there are so many mascaras out there that perform these tasks much better than this one. It separates and defines my lashes, but not as well as Estee Lauder double wear. It stays on all day without smudging or flaking, but again, I only had these problems with horrible mascaras. It does lengthen and volumize, but not a lot. Overall, it's good but not something that I can't live without. I don't see anything exceptional with it. I probably will not miss it once I run out. On top of these, its big fat brush is quite hard to use on the corners and the bottom lash. You really need to be patient with it at first. Because the stubby rubbery bristles are so short, they can't grab onto my lashes. It gives volume if you apply multiple coats, but I'd rather use other mascaras that give similar effects in one coat. There's nothing wrong with this mascara, but nothing too good either. I will finish the tube I have but probably will not repurchase in the future.

Mascara -Kiss Me - HEROINE MAKE volume and curl mascara (black)
rated 4 of 5
cloudzz 10/27/2010 1:55:00 AM

First, I'm reviewing on the older version with the curved brush. I have ordered the peanut shaped new version and am still waiting for it to arrive, because I love my experience with the older version. This mascara is very easy to apply. It seems wet at first, but brush picks up the perfect amount so there's no need to worry about clumping. The brush itself is very easy to use and it reaches every single eyelash. Very easy to apply and immediate result after one coat. Although it claims to give you volume, it's more toward the natural side. Do not expect something very dramatic. It does give good length and separation. I'd say that this is a good all around mascara. It does not flake or smudge. I've heard about how hard it is to remove this mascara before I purchased it. However, I did not experience any problem removing it. Just use a regular eye makeup remover and you'll be fine. I'm giving it a four not a five because although it's quite good in all perspectives, it's not the best mascara I've used. I've used mascaras with better lengthening and thickening power and also those that give you feathery soft natural eyelashes. There's still some room for improvement, but pretty good for its price.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Telescopic
rated 4 of 5
cloudzz 10/27/2010 1:39:00 AM

I like this product overall. It separates my lashes OK, but I find the traditional brush type tends to give better and easier separation. It stays on my lashes, does not smear or smudge, and does not flake at the end of the day. The wand is thin and long with these four rows of triangular teeth instead of bristles. I usually do not like rubber wands, but this is an exception. I find this wand very easy to use on all my lashes, top and bottom. It's also much easier to control than the rubber wands of Covergirl LashBlast, BE BuxomLash, and Maybelline Define-a-Lash. This mascara claims to give you definition and length, and it does live up to its promises. It also gives moderate volume, not too much, but enough for daily wear. Overall, I like how it performs with the drugstore price. It's definitely one of the better mascaras you can find in the low price range. I'm not giving it a five not because I think this mascara has certain problems. This performs quite well in all perspectives, but still not well enough to be on my top mascara list. There are better mascaras out there that I've tried. It does clump my lashes together sometimes(not serious clumping, but still a few lashes might stick together).

Mascara -Estee Lauder - Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara
rated 4 of 5
cloudzz 10/27/2010 1:24:00 AM

This mascara does exactly what it claims; it lengthens and separates very well. I like the shape of the wand. It is thin and long, very easy to get to all the baby lashes and very good on the bottom lashes. I find it impossible to have clumping with this mascara. It separates every single lash and makes you appear to have more lashes than there actually are. I would recommend this mascara to anyone who wants length, separation, and natural looking lashes. It is good for work, interviews, and occasions where you want to appear fresh and awake, but not so right-in-your-face with your makeup. However, it's also impossible to build up volume with this mascara, no matter how many coats you apply. I do use another mascara on top when I want to add a little bit of volume. The only reason that I'm not giving it a five is that it flakes a little. Just a little, but still disappoints me quite a bit because I don't expect high-end mascaras to flake at all. I've rarely had a problem with flaking before so this is quite a surprise. Other than that, I find this mascara living up to its name.

Treatments (Eye) -L'Oreal - Lash Boosting Serum
rated 1 of 5
cloudzz 10/24/2010 10:58:00 PM

I bought this product after reading good reviews here and on some other sites. I wasn't hoping for dramatic result, but at least, I hope it can make some difference. I got it for $15 CAD at local drugstore. Only good thing I can say about it is that it's cheap. But what good does it do if I can't use it at all? I wear contact lenses occasionally and I am really serious about my eye health. My eyes are quite sensitive but have not yet reacted to any cosmetics; this is the first one. Upon first application, I had this burning sensation to my lashline and my eyes started to water. I thought I accidentally got some product into my eyes so I did not worry too much. Next morning, my eyelids were all swollen and red. Second attempt, exactly the same thing. Burning and stinging. There's not going to be any third attempt. I'm glad that this product achieved something for others but this is simply not going to stay for me. I will never risk my health over this.

Mascara -Dejavu (Imju) - Fiberwig Lash Knockout
rated 4 of 5
cloudzz 9/27/2010 4:55:00 PM

I have tried quite a number of mascaras before I tried this one: Lancome Definicil, Clinique high impact, Diorshow, Buxom, CG LB, MAC zoom lash, Estee Lauder double wear, etc. I have to say that this is the best mascara at lengthening. It does not smudge, but it comes off easily as little fibres with makeup remover. It does not clump; I put on layers after layers until I have my desired look. I LOVE this mascara. The brush is also very easy to use to get to all your lashes. However, if you're looking for volume, then this is not the one for you. It barely gives any volume. Be patient with this mascara. Do multiple coats and you'll be surprised by the result. It's also cheaper than the high-end mascaras. BTW I got this from Japan with the smaller version called TinySniper. Don't buy the small one. It's indeed tiny and really awkward to use.
