Styling Products -Garnier - Soft Curl Cream [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
claudiajen 11/29/2007 5:34:00 PM

I have thick but fine straight hair that is shoulder length with side swept bangs that end at my pupil... and I had always been relying on Aussie sprunch spray to give me any kind of wave or curl to my hair. I dreaded the scent and the gross feeling of touching the crunch, so I had been looking for a good cream for a while. My stylist showed me the right way to scrunch/curl my limp straight hair and used a high end curling cream, and I realized that this was probably the same stuff. I rushed home to use it

After taking a shower, I flipped my head and wrapped a towel around it without combing it. I got dressed, did makeup yadda yadda letting it air dry a bit in the towel. I took it off (once again, not combing it, so it looks like a ratty mess) and put my fingers into this tub. I DESPISE the packaging of this. Regardless I covered my fingertips and ran this all through my uncombed hair from scalp to end. I flipped my hair and dried it with a diffuser, and when I flipped it up, what did I get but awesome wavy curls? I did straighten my bangs and use a bit of hairspray to keep the hold (which was still kind of there by 4pm that day, and my hair never holds curl!) but this stuff gets an A from me. I *love* it. Only one lippie off because of the packaging--I'd love a pump or a squeeze tube!

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Color Surge in Bewitched
rated 3 of 5
claudiajen 9/13/2007 10:39:00 PM

I got this in a GWP and it convienently fits into my Stila 6-pan! Anyway, I try to use this as a liner and even when applied wet it's just too "chalky" and doesn't stay. I did try using it lightly in the crease for a matte dramatic eye and I did like it a lot.

The color itself is a matte brown. Very basic, very chalky. Not worth $13.50 so I won't be purchasing again, but i'll use up what I have of it.

Liquid -Clinique - Superbalanced Foundation
rated 3 of 5

EDITED: I found out this was the source of my breakouts, despite what I said before. Excellent coverage but not worth the acne I got. I switched to Lancome Teint Idole. Here's my original review:

Great foundation! Tons of colors so there's bound to be one for you. I have oily, acne-prone skin. Each foundation I've tried has been flakey, cakey, or... stakey (sorry I had to rhyme.) But this one goes on smooth with fingers or a foundation brush (I actually use a concealer brush as I only spot-check with foundation so that's my foundation brush), it doesn't leave my skin oily, and it stays most of the day. I live in Texas so I sweat a lot (ew) so naturally some of it comes off, but in the cooler months it stays on great. Unless I find something better, this is my HG.

Cleansers -Aveeno - Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
claudiajen 7/10/2007 2:29:00 PM

After narrowing down every product I use, I have determined that this is the culprit breaking me out. I have acne-prone combo skin, and this did nothing for my acne--if anything, it may have made it worse but I don't have proof that it was this product. So I wouldn't buy again beacuse it doesn't give me a "clear complexion."

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals in 1.2, fairly light
rated 4 of 5
claudiajen 6/8/2007 3:48:00 PM

Let me first say, I have acne prone skin. I tried this, and it did nothing. It made my zits look chalky, and it sure gave coverage--obvious coverage. I put it away for about 2 months.

When I went to the dermatologist, however, my skin cleared up significantly, and I decided to give this a try. Because my skin wasn't bumpy and chaffed, this went on very smoothly and evened out my skintone. Very buildable; if you have a red spot, just pat some extra on and it's fine! I use this as my backup foundation for when I don't have huge spots to cover up.

Eye Shadow -Ulta - Eye Shadow - Sterling
rated 4 of 5
claudiajen 5/15/2007 7:48:00 PM

A nice silver-gray eye shadow. There are probably better alternatives in Milani or Jane line, but Ulta products are always BOGOF, 1/2 off, etc. so it's a great steal. Pigmentation isn't that of MAC or Milani, but it's not chalky by any means. It has AWESOME staying powder, and stayed on my lids all day. I also love the flip top, and how it fits into most eye shadow palettes. If I run out, I'll definitely be repurchasing.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Rimmel Special Eyes eyeliner pencil - Ginger Tea
rated 2 of 5
claudiajen 5/15/2007 7:41:00 PM

My mom gave me this when it didn't work for her... I can see why she gave it away. Ginger tea in itself is a copper-bronze color that I love for summer. However, the packaging I hate. The cap cracked on the side (This has happened with all of my Rimmel pencils) and the wood sharpens uneven. I also hate how they aren't sealed at the drugstore, so pretty much all the liners are probably tested by people. The liner itself was so HARD! I had to press really hard to get any color payoff, and it tugged really badly on my eyes and did not stay. This is truly a case of you get what you pay for. It's worth $1.99 but I wouldn't pay a penny more.

Conditioner -Redken - Body Full
rated 2 of 5
claudiajen 4/1/2007 9:13:00 PM

Did nothing. Yeah, it gave my hair "body" but that's just because the conditioner wouldn't get any tangles out after the shampoo without globbing it all into my hand! I feel like it actually pulled out some of my hair. Ugh. Definitely won't be repurchasing.

Shampoo -Redken - Body Full
rated 3 of 5
claudiajen 4/1/2007 9:11:00 PM

I'm really not that impressed with this. It made my hair feel a bit gummy even when washing, and it made my hair tangle like no other--even with conditioner. It has a nice verbena scent in the bottle, but it doesn't linger on hair. Just did an ok job at cleaning my hair--didn't elinimate greasies, didn't add greasies. My hair didn't feel "flat" though. I prefer my cheapy Herbal Essences, so I won't be repurchasing.

Blush -Milani - Powder Blush - Pink Craze [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
claudiajen 3/13/2007 8:39:00 PM

I'm a PPP w/blonde hair and hazel eyes. This blush gives me the perfect doll look!

Overall Rating: 4. I've noticed the staying power is weak, but for the price I can buy it over and over again and use as much as I'd like. Price: 1. Dirt cheap.
Packaging Quality: 5, just because it can fit into most palettes =)

Too bad Milani blushes are d/ced. I would buy them again, and again, and again...

Eyeliner -Jemma Kidd Makeup School - Define Stay-Put Eyeliner
rated 5 of 5
claudiajen 3/13/2007 8:37:00 PM

I bought this spur-of-the-moment at Neiman Marcus when a SA dragged me to the counter... I was reluctant, but I really liked this eyeliner! I have 02 Earth. The liner is very soft and does not tug. And man, it doesn't come off! Jumped in the pool and it was still on =)

Overall Rating: 5. Stays put, color matches my skin very nicely, and I LOVE the smudger at the very end.
Price: 3-4ish... I'm a cheapo, and I didn't like paying $18 for this eyeliner.
Packaging: 4... it's very long, and doesn't fit into my traincase! :P

Unless I can find a drugstore dupe of this, I will buy again.

Hair Color -Clairol - Complements Gel Colorant Long-Lasting Semi-Permanent
rated 1 of 5
claudiajen 2/24/2007 10:30:00 PM

I tried using this on my asian friend, and after leaving it on, trying multiple coats, etc. no results. Still boring black hair; not the fuchsia we had hoped. This may work with blondes and brunettes, but it didn't work for her at all.

Bronzers -Ulta - Bronzer
rated 4 of 5
claudiajen 1/23/2007 10:50:00 PM

Why does this bronzer only have one color? Weird. Anyway, I'm pretty pale, and this bronzer gave me the perfect touch when applied lightly. It's very buildable, so I think any skintone could wear this. For some reason, I do not like the texture of this bronzer, so I took a lippy off... it's kind of chalky in my opinion. Otherwise very nice!

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Pencil in Pure White
rated 4 of 5
claudiajen 1/21/2007 9:14:00 PM

Great pencil! It's about $2 anywhere you go, and it's just a kohl pencil that you sharpen. My only complaint with the packaging is that the cap has broken on all of my Rimmel pencils, so there's a large crack along the side. But about the product itself, it's a white pencil that doesn't tug and it goes on soo smoothly. My only complaint is that it doesn't last as long as I'd like, but at $2 you can use as much as you want, as far as I'm concerned :P

Lip Gloss -Mary Kay - Cocoa Creme
rated 4 of 5
claudiajen 1/1/2007 2:31:00 AM

For the record: I don't sell Mary Kay. But I LOVE this lipgloss. It is the PERFECT nude lip for me; most nudes are too dramatic just for every day, but I can go to school wearing this. Color-wise, think of a light cappuccino (sp?). Mary Kay glosses are actually very smooth and not-sticky, and last for about an hour (even w/talking.) I just don't like the tube; I don't feel like I get enough product.
