Mascara -Lancome - Amplicils
rated 3 of 5

Amplicils is good...i guess...but when paying a good amount i suppose i expected it to be excellent. not that i'm disappointed, as it is still a worthwhile purchase, just not as good as a £22 product. a light application of this mascara will give you darker, thicker lashes, but more vigorous reapplying will see it cake up and eventually flake off. The formula itself must be substantially thick because it sticks your lashes together like glue. However if you apply lightly and carefully, and reapply whilst it is still wet, you can achieve a nice thick-lashed look. the reason i wouldn't repurchase is simply because there are so many good formulas on the market that work better (eg dior's maximeyes). still searching for that HG mascara...

Lip Treatments -SoftLips - Cherry Lip Protectant/Sunscreen SPF20
rated 4 of 5

I'm a bit of a softlips fan...having bought at least 5 in the past month (partly because they're so small and i'm always losing them). They're pretty addictive, and the cocktail flavours taste really lovely and fruity ( i find myself sitting there sniffing them). Application is really smooth, leaves your lips silky and soft...without the tacky, sticky gloss feeling. No colour or shine or sparkle... but your lips feel protected and soft. Does leave you with a bit of a blech feeling in your mouth...but that's not unusual with lip gloss.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Glam Shine Sorbet in Cherry Sorbet
rated 4 of 5
claudia945 8/8/2004 12:11:00 AM

It's a fairly good lip gloss...nothing really to write home about but a pretty nice buy nonetheless. Cherry Sorbet is a deep, rich pigmented pink with a hint of sparkle (nothing too OTT, goes on smoothly and has pretty good staying power for a lipgloss. Packaging is pretty but not really functional, seems to be lasting awhile though. Looks pretty on...and in the sunlight it almost has a golden shimmer to it which is flattering. Careful of the colour because it would only suit particular complexions/hair/skin tones.

Hair Color -Garnier - Lumia Brightening Color Creme

A good product for a decent price. I got 'Dark Brown', which looks almost black on the box but turns out a cool, dark brown. It isn't very rich or shiny, comes out more of a natural looking colour, but this can be a good thing depending on what you're looking for. Leaves your hair in lovely condition, very silky and healthy looking. This particular colour was as expected, a nice dark brown, but mroe something richer or more dimension i'd try antoher brand/shade

Shampoo -Pantene - Pro V clarifying shampoo
rated 4 of 5
claudia945 5/8/2004 10:24:00 PM

This shampoo does a great job in clarifying and cleaning the hair. if you've got oily hair, greasy residue or build up of product, this shampoo is absolutely perfect. It gets right into the hair and cleans all of the dirt out, leaving you with squeaky clean hair that's shiny and full of body. It doesn't mositurise or anything, and it doesn't say it will- but thats expected. this clarifying shampoo does wonders to give your hair a 'freshen up' and a really deep clean

Gels/Soaps -Dove - Beauty Bar
rated 5 of 5

I'm still amazed that a 3 (aus) dollar soap can be so effective. it has a fresh, powdery, smell that i love (those strong, citrusy/floral perfumes in bodywashes really get sickly after awhile) and it lathers up very well. The soap is deep cleansing and not drying at all. After a few days of using this on my face, i have blemish free, clear skin without a slick of shine. It clears up any spots on my chest/back, cleanses skin perfectly and leaves it feeling nourished. i never knew that plain old soap could work a thousand times better than the upmarket cleansers

Treatments -L'Oreal - ColorSpa Moisture Actif [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5

after having blonde foils for six months, i was tired of the old regrowth and brassiness and decided to get this on a whim. (thought that i could grow out the blonde while colouring over with brown to mask roots). the only 'brown' colour to choose from was light mocha brown but it looked good on the packet (in the sample it looked richer and darker so i got it). be aware that in most shops they stock mainly the reds. anyway its pretty easy to apply, doesnt take a brain surgeon. theres ample product even for the thickest hair, and doesnt smell too bad. it worked out great, even on pre-processed hair, however my colour isnt so much of a light bornw as a deep, dark brown. i like this, its close to my natural shade and very rich. after using the conditioner my hair is really shiny and healthy looking as opposed to the dry/brittle mess it was before. highly reccomend this, but watch out cos the colours always come out way darker than expected.

Self Tanners -Garnier - ambre solaire express spray bronzer
rated 4 of 5
claudia945 2/6/2004 4:19:00 AM

Bought this because ( and i admit) i was sucked in by the 'spray on' idea. It was so easy to apply, reaches the backs of my legs well, and because of the spray nozzle, the tan is sprayed on finely and evenly so you don't get nasty streaks. Be careful when you apply, as with any tanner, and be light handed. It's easiest to apply a thin layer, and build up with few more applications so you can monitor the progress. I found that being heavy handed leaves you orange and blotchy, but if you take care with the application you get an even, deep golden, smooth tan that looks completely natural.

Treatments -John Frieda - Kelp Help Hair Mask
rated 5 of 5
claudia945 2/6/2004 4:16:00 AM

i am in love with this mask! The top layers of my hair have blonde highlights that seriously dried out my hair and left it frizzy and bouffy. After a beach holiday, all the sun and sea water, chlorine etc, my hair as in awful condition so i bought this. Smells beachy and a bit like seaweed, but it's not bad and if you were being nice you could call it a 'fresh' scent. All that's needed is a small scoop and it covers my thick hair nicely, leaving it gorgeous and soft, silky, and works wonders on blonde leaving it looking refreshed and bright. Washes out nicely and doesn't weigh hair down. Totally worth 20 bucks

Shampoo -Dove - Intense Moisture Shampoo
rated 3 of 5
claudia945 1/29/2004 1:58:00 AM

i bought this after extended use of fructis and pantene had left nasty, greasy sticky residue on my scalp. This shampoo immediately cleansed away the buildup, leaving my hair fresh, super clean and baby soft. it made my blonde highlights brighter, and my hair generally looked lovely after one use. this is a good shampoo but not *super* moisturising as it claims' but how can something that is meant to take the grease away really put mositure back in? buy it if you havent tried it

Mascara -L'Oreal - Double Extend Mascara
rated 3 of 5
claudia945 1/9/2004 5:13:00 AM

I like the idea of this mascara, but it is hard to apply. The white fibres do their job in adding thickness and length to the lashes, but you need to be careful in applying them so they won't glob together. I think the trick is to apply the black mascara before the white fibers go dry and crusty, this way you get a smooth, even application. Yes it is tricky to get it right withhout clumping, but it's possible to apply in such a way that you can achieve a long-lashed, fluttery look, almost like falsies.

Liquid -Lancome - Teint Idole (Original) [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
claudia945 1/9/2004 5:08:00 AM

This is a lovely foundation that comes so close to five lippies. I have it in Beige Albatre, a creamy beige tone. The consistency is beautifully smooth, and surprisingly thin for the full coverage it can achieve. After smoothing this on, my redness, blotches, spots and dark circles mostly disappear, and I have nice, flawless creamy coloured skin. This stays on all day if set with powder, and has a soft matte finish that leaves skin oil-free but glowing. This foundation is great, it lives up to it's promises and produces a beautiful flawless effect. The only downfall is its price, but I suppose it's fair for a good quality product.

Conditioner -Garnier - Fructis Fortifying Cream Hair Mask for Dry Hair
rated 4 of 5
claudia945 12/31/2003 6:20:00 AM

The first time i used this product i was really impressed. After getting so-so results from the Pantene counterpart, i decided to give the fructis a whirl after getting good results from their shampoo and conditioner. I found this, basicaly, to be a thicker and sightly creamier version of their normal conditioner. Even with my thick, long, dry hair, only a smallish amount was needed to saturate my hair in product- the stuff is pretty thick and a little goes along way. After a good rinse (make sure you get it ALL out or you get greasy) my hair was in beautiful condition. I noticed basically that it was alot softer and silkier, but i don't know about shine. Maybe i was just distracted by the softness of my hair? Even though my ends were in desperate need of a good cut, and my hair was pretty dry on the whole, fructis did a great job of putting some moisture back into it and making it feel beautiful and soft.

Lip Gloss -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Crystal Gloss in Berry Fizz
rated 5 of 5
claudia945 12/31/2003 6:04:00 AM

The colour of this is stunning: a slightly sheer, coral/pink gloss that comes out a bright, but natural pink on my lips. The consistency is smooth and thin, but stays on remarkably well (if it isnt touched too much). The packaging is divine and the applicator ensures the colour glides on fairly evenly. I msut admit the price is pretty steep, but you do get a nice, long lasting and pretty coloured gloss for the 42 AUS you pay for it.

Liquid -Maybelline - Ever Fresh Makeup [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
claudia945 12/6/2003 9:06:00 PM

I'd rather give this two and a half- it doesn't really deserve a three, but it's not soo bad. Everfresh claims to be a transfer-resistant, non comedogenic, hypoallergenic, fragrance free, oil free, dermatologically tested liquid foundation with SPF15 that won't clog pores and lasts up to 8 hours. As for all the hypoallergenic ingredients, I haven't broken out or come out in a rash, but that'd be unusual. The fragrance free thing is crap, as the thing smells like chemicals, as is the transfer-resistant claim; it wouldn't take much to smudge this all voer your pale coloured clothes/sheets/ pillows. It doesn't really mattify, but I don't look like a greaseball so thumbs up for the oil free thing, and as for lasting up to eight hours... it'll fade away after about 4 in humid Australian climates. I've got Everfresh in ivory; one of the palest colours that doesn't really match my skin. Too much makes me look sickly and pale, almost ghost-like, while not enough does nothing to cover any spots/blotches. Overall, the product is okay, but I'm not reccomending it to anyone, nor am i going to purchase again.
