Lipstick -Jane Iredale - PureMoist LipColour

I have this lipstick in Susan. The shade is very pretty. A rosy mauve color that is very flattering with my fair coloring. It goes on very smoothly and stays moist with enough shine but is not too glossy. It has decent staying power but is moist enough that I need to touch up after eating or drinking.

Fragrances -Lancome - O de l'orangerie

I really wanted to love this fragrance. I love light, fresh, citrusy, non-"perfumey" type fragrances for warmer weather. I tried this at the Lancome counter and immediately loved it and bought it. I should've waited to see how it smelled after dry-down. It dries down to a very floral, "perfumey" fragrance which while not unpleasant, is not what I expected or wanted. I will probably wear it to work, it is unoffensive and is not long lasting. Not terrible, just not what I was looking for.

Crème -Laura Mercier - Silk Creme Foundation
clairerenee 3/18/2013 9:08:00 PM
This foundation is amazing . I have combo skin: oily t zone with dry cheeks. I use Lise Watier primer on my t zone plus sunscreen all over my face and then apply this foundation (cream ivory) either with my fingers or foundation brush. I use a small amount...maybe pea sized and blend well. It is amazing, it gives my skin a porcelain look. I do set the t zone with Laura Mercier loose setting powder and it holds up pretty well. I usually blot t zone and powder miday. This is my dependable workday foundation, I either use cream or powder blush over it. Love it. I do think that oilier skins would not be happy with it, I also have such horrible dark circles that I do need a dab of concealer under my eyes. However, it does cover my red nose and jawline beautifully. I am on my second tube of this product.

Other -Paula's Choice - Beautypedia.com

I have been using the beautypedia website for as long as it has been around and prior to that I bought Paula's books and subscribed to her beauty bulletin. I have found her to be a trusted source of information especially regarding skin care. To be sure, there are times that I disagree with her, particularly on makeup (her mascara picks suck!). Makeup is a pretty subjective area and at the end of the day it's a personal choice. I do like that I can check her site to ensure that a foundation or tinted moisturizer boasting certain SPF actually has uva and uvb covered! I have used some of her products. Love her exfolients, esp BHA. The blushes and eyeshadows she used to carry were amazing. The lipstick she still carres is pretty good. So the site is another tool but certainly not the only one I use in choosing skin care and make up.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Miss Dior

I used to wear the original Miss Dior approximately 30 years ago and I loved it. Purchased some recently and it is definitely not quite the same, wouldn't buy again. And don't get me started on the horrid "Cherie" version which is sickeningly sweet.

Lip Liners -Wet 'n' Wild - #666 liner
clairerenee 10/23/2012 10:46:00 PM
Have used this for >10 years. Love it and have repurchased repeatedly. When I first bought it, MAC wasn't as readily available as it is now and 666 was touted as a cheap dupe for "Spice" lipliner. I loved it, whether used prior to many varied lipcolors or with just MAC clear Lipglass.

BB Cream -Too Faced - Tinted Beauty Balm Multi-Benefit Skin Care Makeup
clairerenee 8/29/2012 5:36:00 PM
I saw a few reviews on this item and thought I'd try it. The price did make me hesitate a bit but reviews indicated that it is one of the few BB that has a relatively light shade. So I bought Vanilla Glow and have been wearing daily for about a week. It is just okay. Feels nice, looks more dewy than I am used to, no breakouts due to it but I just cannot justify the price considering the downsides. Downers are that while the color isn't pinky it just isn't light enough for me, it seems to go kind of brownish-orange after a couple hours and also I can't get used to the dewiness of the finish. I could work around the downers but at this price point workarounds shouldn't be necessary. Back to looking for a uber fair yellow toned BB Cream or tinted moisturizer with SPF>15.

Powder -Christian Dior - Diorskin Forever Compact
clairerenee 4/10/2012 9:31:00 PM
I love this powder foundation but I believe it has been discontinued. It applies smoothly with the sponge that comes with the compact and gives beautiful sheer coverage....your own skin but better. With spf 25 in it, it was really useful to keep in my purse esp while on vacation in Hawaii, for touchups. My only complaint is that the lightest shade (ivory) was too pink for my skin but the next lightest (linen) only works when I have a bit of a tan.....which I try not to have as tanning is not healthy for the skin. The replacement product by dior hasn't gotten great reviews, I picked up a Neutrogena powder with spf 20 but the finish sure isn't as nice.
