Misc Beauty Tools -Revlon - Extra Curl Lash Curler
rated 3 of 5

I've tried Revlon's regular silver lash curler before, which was way too curvy for my Asian eyes. This one's slightly better, but still not flat enough to get to the base of my eyelashes. I am only able to curl the tips with this. At least it doesn't pinch my skin or crimp my lashes. FYI I got the one with the red grips, so I am not sure whether it is shaped exactly the same as the normal one The Shiseido eyelash curler is the best one I've tried so far, but it's so expensive -_-

Top/Base Coats -Sally Hansen - Mega Shine Top Coat
rated 3 of 5
cjx3pooh 9/25/2011 2:03:00 PM

I purchased this after emilynoel83 on Youtube talked about this a few years ago. It does well in keeping the polishes from chipping, but I noticed that after a week's time the surface of the polish looks cracked, not in a good way like the OPI Shatter or China Glaze Crackle. I have not experienced this with any other top coat, and I am not sure why it would do that... But do beware. For those who change up their polish every few days it wouldn't be a problem, but I am very lazy and only remove my nail polish after a month or two (sometimes not even that) to repaint.

Brows -Wet 'n' Wild - Brow & liner pencil

I use the Charcoal shade for my black eyebrow hair, since the brown eyebrow shades are almost always too red for me. The lasting power isn't the best and it might be a little too pigmented unless you're lighthanded with it, but for $1, I definitely recommend it

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Legere- bb creme white
rated 4 of 5
cjx3pooh 9/8/2011 12:07:00 AM

I bought this because fuzkittie on Youtube said it was her favorite as well as one of the most popular ones in Taiwan. It is $20+ on Ebay, and any less than that might just be a fake. As usual, BB creams lean towards the lighter skintones, and anyone over NC25 or maybe NC30 would find this too light. When you first squeeze the product out, it looks very orangy brown, which would've scared me off had I not seen fuzkittie's application of it. I find the best way to apply this is dot it all over then pat it in. Once I pat it into my skin, there is light coverage that feels like nothing on the skin and looks extremely natural. If you don't blend it properly the dark color doesn't completely blend away and you might not get the coverage you want. I have not tried using a brush to apply this because I suspect the color wouldn't blend in as well, but the recommended application for BB creams is patting anyway. I have a lot of acne scars from cystic acne so I need to go back in with a concealer, but this is one of the few base makeup products that I wouldn't hesitate using. I feel like most foundations just aren't good for the skin and also looks like makeup. The SPF is not labeled, but I assume it's something standard over 30. For 1.7 fl oz (50 ml) it's technically worth it. If you're looking for a BB cream to try that DOESN'T have a gray undertone, this is definitely one to get.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - HIP Shine Struck Liquid Lip Color Euphoric
rated 4 of 5
cjx3pooh 8/14/2011 6:55:00 PM

I was pleasantly surprised that this lip gloss isn't as bright as it shows in the tube, because I am getting tired of the unnaturally bright barbie pinks. Other than the retail price ($12), everything about this lipcolor is great. It smells like caramel, has a light, slightly moisturizing texture, and isn't overly shiny. However, it settles into the fine lines of my lips, which luckily doesn't look that obvious since the color isn't super pigmented. On that note, this is probably the less pigmented of the lip colors from this line - I have the red one in Turbulent, and that is literally a liquid lipstick. I put yes to repurchase, but only if this was on sale.

Makeup Brushes -Unlisted Brand - Crown Brush C433 Pro Blending Fluff
rated 2 of 5
cjx3pooh 7/29/2011 7:29:00 PM

I ordered this off the Crown Brush US website because I saw some good reviews on it in blogs. Sadly the one I received is very stiff and kind of scratchy. I'm hoping it's just a dud because the Precision brush I ordered using the same hair is much softer. It feels stiff on the eye but not as scratchy as it does on my hand. I will try to work with it and see what I can do with a stiff brush this size. This costed $5.49 on the website, but they require a $25 minimum to purchase and a flat shipping fee of $7 - if you want to order from them online, I recommend doing a group order.

Makeup Brushes -Sephora - Professionnel Platinum Air Brush #55
rated 2 of 5
cjx3pooh 5/7/2011 2:27:00 AM

This is an extremely overpriced brush. I first heard about this from pinkiecharm on Youtube, and for $34, you get no protective packaging, just a plastic holder that slips off easily. The brush itself is very flimsy, I find it hard to blend foundation since it gives poor control. It is very dense and soft, but that doesn't mean it's good for foundation. With a cream foundation, I find this very hard to blend in because it's so flimsy. With a liquid it's slightly better but I'd rather use my $3 E.L.F. flat top brush. It doesn't shed, but... I feel like you could find a dupe of this from EcoTools or Sonia Kashuk All in all? Not worth it.

Fragrances -Sephora - Hello Kitty eau de parfum
rated 3 of 5
cjx3pooh 4/29/2011 4:26:00 PM

This perfume is not worth the $55 for 1.7 oz considering it doesn't last that long, this seems more like a eau de toilette or just a body spray. I bought this for the bottle, esp considering it's reusable. If you want an actual perfume, go for the Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy, which smells very similar to this. Sanrio merchandise have always been overpriced... At least this "perfume" smells good and not like those little kid fragrances.

Moisturizers -Clean & Clear - Finishes Mattifying Moisturizer spf 15
rated 3 of 5
cjx3pooh 4/27/2011 9:19:00 PM

This moisturizer comes out very liquidy right out of the tube. A little bit goes a long way, and as you spread it out, it becomes hard to blend and makes your skin a few shades paler. If you don't blend quickly you'll end up with a white cast. Personally, I think it's not that bad if it's around the nose, but if you were planning to use this all over your face your face would be a few shades paler than your neck (if not already). My skin was very matte for a few hours, but oil still came through. I do not think there are any moisturizers out there that could completely control oil, but since this is clay-based, beware that it'll be hard to blend.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel
rated 3 of 5
cjx3pooh 4/13/2011 1:47:00 AM

I purchased this because a Youtuber said she uses it as a moisturizer and "treatment" for acne. Considering this has aloe vera in it I decided to try it out. Nothing impressive honestly, it's not nearly moisturizing enough (I have combination oily skin) and doesn't seem to do much for pimples. I do find that my cystic acne leave less scars after using this. I haven't tried it as a makeup base over moisturizer yet, will report when I do.

Shampoo -Pantene - ICE SHINE
rated 2 of 5
cjx3pooh 4/6/2011 9:17:00 PM

I'm very disappointed with this shampoo, because I like the volume one from Pantene very much. First off, for something called "ice shine," this did not make my hair shiny at all, I had better luck with the Herbal Essence Drama Clean or the Garnier Sleek & Shine. Secondly, it doesn't really clean my hair well. I have an oily scalp, and usually could go washing my hair every other day. With this, my hair feels oily the next day.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Midnight Fantasy Britney Spears
rated 3 of 5
cjx3pooh 3/12/2011 7:20:00 PM

It smells exactly like this Calgon Caribbean Citrus body spray. Idk if it's discontinued but I'd say if your store has no testers, try that body spray n see if you like it. I personally am not a fan.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Fantasy Britney spears
rated 3 of 5
cjx3pooh 3/12/2011 7:15:00 PM

I purchased the 3.4 oz of this for like $26 on FragranceX, which is quite a discount. However, I cannot stand this scent, it's very sweet and overwhelming. The only way I can use this is if I spray it on my clothes the night before n the day after I smell a faded scent of this, which is okay. It smells similar to the Victoria's Secret Shine Pink perfume, which is discontinued, but the Shine Pink smells much better. I regret ever purchasing perfume online, but next time I will try it in store first

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - PINK Sweet & Flirty
rated 3 of 5
cjx3pooh 3/12/2011 6:41:00 PM

I have the eau de toilette, and this scent smells great right out of the bottle. It smells like pineapples/tropical fruits to me, but the girl in the store said it smells like berries, I guess it depends on your perception of scents. The reason I gave a 3/5 is after it fades on your skin it smells kind of strange, probably didn't mix with my body chemistry but smelled good when I sprayed it.

Pressed Powders -Maybelline - Fit Me
rated 3 of 5
cjx3pooh 2/5/2011 6:09:00 PM

Personally I don't understand why powder would be hard to match, you could probably go a shade or 2 off n have it still look like your skin if the powder itself is good. This one doesn't set your foundation, doesn't give coverage... Basically useless, might as well not use anything. Don't recommend... I do like the packaging n how the mirror's on the under side of the powder. Costs ~$7 at Target
