Moisturizers -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Argan oil
rated 5 of 5
cityskin 3/22/2013 6:46:00 PM

I've been using Josie Maran's Argan oil for almost a year and I love it! Before I used this product I used to get constant cystic acne, you know the ones that hurt so bad! So I traded in all my products (aside from Boscia's cleanser) and started over with this included. I began toning with Mario Badescu's Glycolic Acid Toner, moisturized, and sealed it with this Argan oil. You have to be cautious about purchasing Argan oil as there are many who'll make them but it will not be in its pure form, which is necessary for getting the benefits, otherwise, you might as well slather any oil on your face. That's why I love this oil, it's pure yet so moisturizing. I am just so curious how they create this. Anyway, I love it!!! This product is a little on the thicker side so I use it at night and just a dab in the morning.

Toners -Mario Badescu - Alpha-Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion
rated 2 of 5
cityskin 3/22/2013 5:37:00 PM

I usually love Mario Badescu, but this product is one exception. I bought this with the intention of gently exfoliating but all it did was leave a mildly sticky residue and a smell of old lady (no offense) perfume. I looked at the ingredients, and noticed grapefruit was listed at the end. I don't know how much of it went in to the bottle, but I didn't notice this 'exfoliation' that it claims. It made my skin more dull looking. Maybe my skin is used to glycolic. So I exchanged it for the Seaweed Cleansing Lotion and am really happy with it. Although it's too gentle (imo) to exfoliate, it removes all the dirt and makeup left behind (and I know this by the dirt and makeup on my cotton pad); this is something Alpha-Grapefruit failed to do. I still love Mario Badescu, just not this product. I rotate my Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner and Seaweed Ceansing Lotion.

Moisturizers -Fresh - Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream With Super 7 Complex
rated 4 of 5
cityskin 2/24/2013 1:00:00 AM

Age: 28 Skin Type: Combo/Normal I bought this product to keep the wrinkles at bay and to improve elasticity. I thought this was a great product, but I knocked off a lippy b/c realized I needed a stronger facial moisturizer to combat aging as I head into my 30's. It's not moisturizing enough for me (maybe due to the climate I'm in), b/c it always felt tight, but it did leave my skin uber soft. It is supposed to prevent. So if you're in your teens or early 20's, this is a perfect starter product. If you're in your mid 20's and over, this may not do much.

This does what it's supposed to do, tone! And it does a good job at it too. I will probably be loyal to this toner for a while. And the bottle lasts many months. Love it!

Moisturizers -Peter Thomas Roth - Mega-Rich Anti-Aging Cellular Creme
rated 4 of 5
cityskin 12/18/2012 2:07:00 AM

This is luxury in a container without the $300, La Mer price tag. I tone, apply treatments, and then rub a bit of this into my face. At first, the texture was a little unusual, almost sticky, but my face loves it apparently because soon after I glow. You would think the glow would fade after putting my foundation on, but no, it doesn't, it's still there. Onto the technicalities, I haven't used it long enough to know the effects on anti-aging, but my skin looks healthy and I'm willing to be loyal to it for now until something else catches my eye. ;)

Toners -Murad - Essential-C Toner
rated 4 of 5
cityskin 7/1/2012 4:07:00 AM

I've been using this for about a week, AM and PM, and I have to say that my skin does look better than before. The right side of my face suffered from some red spots, most likely pimples that wanted to crop up and it remarkably diminished a lot. I also purchased a few other new products but none of them claim to help with balancing skin tone so I'm guessing it has to be the Murad Essential-C at work. I would most likely repurchase.......but use it only in the AM and find a replacement toner for my PM, preferably a glycolic-based because I like to have exfoliation at night, post cleansing, to help my other PM products absorb quicker and better into my skin for more effectiveness). All in all, it does what it says it will do so. It clarifies and evens out your skin tone. Wonderful.

Treatments -Skinceuticals - C E Ferulic
rated 4 of 5
cityskin 6/23/2012 1:50:00 AM

I used this in 2009 and took a break from it. Being a product junky, I tried multiple products to get the the desired purpose and long-term effects. This product is the safest choice for my needs. I knocked off a lippy for two reasons: cost and bad experience with purchasing it directly from the vendor's website. I thought it was pretty awful they made us pay for shipping, but to top it off, it came 4 days later than the said date. They could use better customer service. But the product itself is great and the above was an isolated incident so I guess I can let it go for now. Overall, my skin was dewy/glowy, hydrate, and it was reassuring to know that the ingredients are stable and will do what it says it will do. It's a little disconcerting to hear people wanting results right away, since this product is a preventative... I will probably make this my staple for many years to come (of course unless there's a cheaper alternative).

Fragrances -Philosophy - Amazing Grace Concentrated Perfume Oil
rated 4 of 5
cityskin 4/4/2012 2:10:00 AM

I smelled, I loved, and I bought. Btw, I bought the spray version of the oil. It's really light and soap-like in terms of smell. I definitely smell clean after a few spritz, but you will need many sprays to probably get noticed. I will have to test it out tomorrow since it was purchased today. Overall, it's a good staple to have in your collection because of it's versatility. Due to the lightness of the smell, I will probably blend with my other fragrances.

Treatments (Eye) -Philosophy - Eye Hope Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream
rated 2 of 5
cityskin 4/4/2012 1:57:00 AM

Kay, this is only my second day using Eye Hope, so I will do a follow up in a few weeks. So far, Eye Hope delivers on addressing the under-eye circles pretty well on the first night of use! I wish it was more moisturizing, but my skin care regime allows for extra moisture coverage so I guess it makes up for it. I don't have much lines around my eye, but I'll see if there are any improvements in a few weeks. This product did not sting for me on the first night, but tonight I used my Boscia Night Serum with retinol (I believe) so there was very slight stinging. However, my tolerance for pain is rather high so what's not painful to me, could be to others. Oh, one con: I noticed a few tiny raised white bumps, aka milia (I believe). Just for that reason, I probably won't repurchase, but I won't return the item just yet either. Overall, I love the improvements of my under-eye circles, but that's about it. *****Update*** This product does not do what it says except maybe help with the under-eye circle (but not nearly enough). I will NOT be repurchasing. My wrinkles are still there, even after using this every night.

Eye Shadow -Sonia Kashuk - Eyeshadow
rated 4 of 5
cityskin 3/12/2008 8:15:00 PM

I purchased the Sonia Kashuk Eye Shadow Duo in Secret Admirer-07 (purple and very light pink/cream) and I'm not very impressed, but not disappointed either. This product caught my attention because of the adorable packaging and because of somewhat pretty shades. What I like: again, the shades are decent and the packaging is cute. There is some small amount of shimmer in this product but it's not overpowering. What I don't like: the colors don't last long unless you use a primer. If you have undereye dark circles, you should make sure to regularly touch up that area or else you can look worn out and tired. Overall, this product is just bland and not a standout in my opinion. I may end up experimenting with other eye shadows, but there's no reason not to repurchase this again.

Treatments -Ojon - Restorative Hair Treatment
rated 4 of 5
cityskin 3/10/2008 6:43:00 PM

I have long, dry and damaged hair and this product worked wonders. The smell is very much how the reviewers describe...it's got a burning incense smell, although it reminds me more of buring wood or rich furniture. I guess I'm one of the few that actually like the smell. What I like: It actually works in restoring hair vitality. My hair is softer, shinier and makes it less frizzy. What I don't like: My goodness the price is too steep for this one, although I probably will end up buying another one. Also, traces of the smell may linger and others may not be too keen on the scent so I make sure to spray light fragrance in my hair. Overall, it's a decent product and worth it for me.

Cleansers -Boscia - Purifying Cleansing Gel
rated 5 of 5
cityskin 2/4/2008 9:07:00 PM

Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel is probably the BEST cleanser that has ever surfaced my face. I repeat, Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel is the BEST cleaser I've used. -What I like: The ingredients are organic and I believe chemical-free. The smell, texture, and the clean feeling you get from cleansers is all in this product. It removes all residue of makeup, dirt and oil without leaving your skin too dry. It's also gentle enough for my sensitive skin. What I don't like: Hmm, can't think of a single thing, but when I can think of one, I will update pronto. Overall, this product is great and I recommend it for oily or combo skin types. I love this product!***UPDATE***I've incorporated retinoids into my daily routine and found this cleanser is to be incredibly drying (prob because its a gel based formula). Since I really like their brand, I may end up buying their cleansing cream and will do a review as soon as I finish the Purifying Cleansing Gel.***ANOTHER UPDATE***It turns out that I've been using too much retinoid so once I began using the recommended amount for my skin type, I found no problems after cleansing with Boscia Cleansing Gel...it actually felt very nice and not to drying at all.

Toners -Peter Thomas Roth - Conditioning Tonic
rated 5 of 5
cityskin 2/2/2008 10:26:00 AM

Peter Thomas Roth Conditioning Tonic, where has this been all my life? I can't understand why this product is getting such lukewarm ratings. This is a great gentle, yet effective AHA toner for delicate and normal skin. I've been using it for almost two weeks and the results are phenomenal. I used this every morning and night... My remaining breakouts cleared and haven't had a breakout since. -What I like: This product is alcohol-free, dye-free, and fragrance-free. I like my results the most! Skin is visibly smooth and baby soft. -What I don't like: The price is too much for a toner, but then again, it seems to do its job. The packaging is alright but you have to be careful not to spill it...I dropped mine several times but lucky for me the lid was closed. Overall, I can't part with this one yet so I will be back to purchase more.

Treatments -Origins - A Perfect World
rated 5 of 5
cityskin 1/30/2008 4:53:00 PM

Origins A Perfect World is a great product if you're in your teens or 20's. I use this every morning because I live in a city surrounded by transportation that gives off a lot of gas. -What I like: Helps guard skin against radical damage with a potent White Tea ingredient, smells luxuriosly sweet, texture is velvet-like once applied, and the packaging helps keep the product fresh and sanitary. -What I don't like: The price is kind of high. Also, there are no short and dramatic effects other than what you see...it simply guards the skin with long-term effects. Overall, I really like this product because it's assuring my skin will have some level of protection from the toxicity of the environment. I love it so far!

Tinted Moisturizer -Laura Mercier - Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
rated 5 of 5
cityskin 1/29/2008 2:21:00 PM

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer is part of my daily skincare/makeup routine for its benefits in sunscreen and light coverage. It's been a few weeks since using this product. -What I like: It's texture is perfect for my skin, leaving it supple, soft with a matte finish. The longevity of the wear is pretty remarkable considering it's just a tinted moisturizer. My fav part of this product is the benefit of an spf protection along with getting the color I desire. -What I don't like: The price is steep, but I think it's worth it in the end.
