Primer/ Corrector -La Roche Posay - Anthelios 50 Daily Anti-Aging Primer with Sunscreen
citylady 3/20/2013 10:27:00 AM
I just started using this but I'm thrilled. Finally a sunscreen that doesn't leave my face shiny. Also happy to skip a step. This works as a great primer, blurring pores and keeping make up lasting longer. I don't find it especially thick or balling up. Not greasy or moisturizing. For reference, other primers I like are GA Light Master Primer & Hourglass SPF 15 Veil. I don't find those to be like spackle either.

Eye Primer -NARS - Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
citylady 3/17/2013 10:00:00 AM
This is better than anything else I've tried - (Trish Mcevoy, Edward Bess) I would often use BB's cream shadow in shore as a base. everything would crease by the afternoon. Not this. It's colorless so if your eyelids are red or uneven it won't help that but I don't mind. My eyeshadow not only doesn't crease by late afternoon, it doesn't fade either. I don't have oily lids but my shadow always creases after a while and my liner fades away. before I started using this. I do use powder over this before applying eye shadow.

Concealers -NARS - Radiant Creamy Concealer
citylady 3/4/2013 10:58:00 AM
Have been using this a few days and it's now my favorite concealer. I have been using D&G's pen concealer under my eyes but it's a bit lighter than I'd like. Also still like armani's & Edward Bess for red spots and blemishes on the face. Nars takes care of everything. Vanilla is a very good match for my skin The texture is smooth enough to be great under the eyes yet not too creamy for else where on the face. I've already bought another one for my pocket book.

Highlighters -Dolce & Gabbana - The Illuminator - Shimmer
citylady 2/23/2013 9:48:00 PM
I agree totally with the previous reviewer. I love this! I'm over 50 so shimmer except in limited quantities is not my friend. I read about this a while ago on the Beauty Look Book. I love it as a light bronzer. No sparkles that emphasize pores or wrinkles. Just a pinky light tan glow. very subtle and natural. Should be in the Bronzer or Blush category.

Eye Makeup Remover -Kate Somerville - True Lash - Lash Enchancing Eye Makeup Remover
citylady 4/17/2012 12:21:00 PM
I like this more than I thought I would. I've been using Clinique take the day off for years. Once in a while I wear waterproof mascara and this worked well to remove it. It removes eye make up without a greasy film left behind. No stinging. The skin around my eyes is ultra sensitive and prone to exzema. I've been using this for about 3 weeks. so far so good. Just took a lippie off because it doesn't need to be this expensive.

Mascara -Chantecaille - Faux Cils Mascara
citylady 3/6/2012 2:45:00 PM
Yes, this is a very good mascara. It doesn't clump, flake or smudge. However, there's nothing that special to warrant the $$$$40.00 price tag. There's nothing faux cils about this. The black is not that deep dark black. The volume is not that voluminous. This reminds me of Clinique's Naturally Glossy mascara (that's $15.00). For $30.00 I will stick with GA Excess.

Eyeliner -Edward Bess - -Defining Eyeliner
citylady 3/5/2012 4:44:00 PM
I like this better than the Chanel Le stylo liner. The Chanel espresso is a similar color to Bess' Deep Brown. Just got this from Sephora. you get two pencils for $29 - same price as one Chanel le stylo. Bess' liner goes on softer than the Chanel but doesn't last as long. So one lippie off for that. EDIT 3/13 - Chantecaille's pencils are better. you can draw a thinner line.

Blush -By Terry - Blush Terrybly in #2 Erotic Pink
citylady 2/16/2012 11:31:00 AM
The previous reviewer did an excellent job. I can't add much more. This is crazy expensive but the compact is luxurious. It's relatively small but not tiny. It's very heavy. The color is gorgeous as is the quilted pattern of the blush. I like that the texture is very sheer so your skin shows through. Looks very natural.

Eyeliner -Chantecaille - Le Stylo Liquid Eyeliner
citylady 2/16/2012 10:15:00 AM
I'm not skilled at applying liquid liners but this is easy to use. The tip is soft. The color never skips. If I put eye shadow over it (I only line the top lids - more flattering when you're of a certain age), it lasts pretty well. It's not waterproof but doesn't claim to be. I bought this in brown. It's a softer look than black but still gives definition. I like that it's a cool brown. Warm browns near the eyes are just not flattering to me.

Eye Shadow -Trish McEvoy - Glaze in Tawny
citylady 10/11/2011 2:32:00 PM
This was one of the first Trish eye shadows I bought (many years ago). I got tired of it but I recently bought it again and wear it often. It's a basic neutral color. It's a neutral slightly warm medium brown. Not too matte that it's chalky but not really shimmery either. (Shimmer is not an older eyelid's friend). I agree with another reviewer who called it "luminous".

This just didn't work for me. My skin gets shiny in the summer, despite using powder. I saw no difference using this.

Eye Primer -Trish McEvoy - Eye Base
citylady 9/5/2011 9:48:00 AM
I had gotten a sample of this in Bare and thought it was ok. Maybe looked a tad chalky but it did help my powder eye shadow last longer. I usually wear BB's cream eye shadow in Malted or stone as a base for eye shadow powder but they do change the resulting color. Decided to try this in demure when Trish did 20% off online and I like it much better. Since I'm over 50, my eyelids aren't perfectly smooth but I think this makes them look a bit smoother. I just use a teeny bit. I think if you use more, you can end up with a slightly drier result. It has a teeny bit a sparkles in it but doesn't look like overall shimmer. I think the teeny bit of sparkle makes it look better than the Bare did (& I'm not fond of shimmer). Would I be heartbroken if this was discontinued? Probably not. But I do plan on repurchasing. Edit 10/11/11 - the teeny bit of sparkle was more than a teeny bit. I bought this in Sand and it seems a perfect match to my skin tone. It's not sparkly but it's not chalky either. Blends well and is more flattering than Demure. 5/29/12 EDIT - I find the new Edward Bess eye shadow base better. 3/17/13 EDIT - NARS is better than anything I've tried.

Polishes -Chanel - Le Vernis #475 Dragon
citylady 9/3/2011 6:58:00 PM
I have succumbed to Chanel once again. This is a beautiful perfect true red. Just one coat is smooth and opaque. Some have described it as a warm red but I would say neutral. I use Lippmann's Addicted to Speed as topcoat. Lippmann's My Old Flame is a dupe for this and was my go to red. I think Dragon is a bit less prone to chipping. Also, I usually need two coats of My Old Flame.

Mascara -Giorgio Armani - Eyes to Kill - Excess Mascara

I like this better than the original and even YSL. It's very black yet doesn't get flaky or brittle. Good volume and no smudges. I have repurchased.
