I've been on the cheapest cheap cheap drugstore shampoos but i've had my eye on giovanni b/c I buy all of my groceries at health food stores (Return to Eden in Atlanta). I knew that there was some evidence supporting the use of Aloe for Seborrheic Dermatitis and the fourth ingredient in this interesting gel is.......aloe.
It's the most unusual consistency extremely thick, gummy but slick gel - just scoop out a bit... I thought it would be difficult to massage it into my hair, but it wasn't - not one bit...lathered beautifully and cleans wonderfully. Leaves my hair fuller, softer, shinier and thicker than anything else I've used (which isn't saying much LOL...neutrogena T-Sal, Suave, Garnier Fructis, Jason Naturals). It's so noticebly different.
The tub, while expensive is lasting me forever. A little goes much much further than you think it will - in fact it was tricky at first to get a small enough amount out. But do keep trying to use less and less until results suffer, then increase a tiny bit and you'll be set.
My very sensitive dermatitis prone, SD prone scalp is *so* happy with this - every day - and neutrogena T-Sal maybe once every ten days or so and Aqua Glycolic shampoo once in a blue moon.

Yes No Moisturizers -Eucerin - Sensitive Facial Skin Q10 Active Night Anti-Wrinkle Cream Just wanted to clarify that lfrueh and jojoba are reviewing products other than the Eucerin Q10 Anti-wrinkle Sensitive Skin Creme (as are many many other reviewers).
The product pictured at the top of the page is the Eucerin Q10 Anti-wrinkle Sensitive Skin cream and it is a very heavy, luxurious moisturizer with a buttery smell and feel. Descriptions of a lighter cream are referring to one of the many other Eucerin Q10 products in a jar - usually blue. Descriptions containing the words retinol or retinyl palmitate are also referring to other Eucerin formulations. Descriptions of anything in a blue jar refer to other eucerin formulations. Descriptions of light lotions refer to the Eucerin Q10 Anti Wrinkle Sensitive Skin lotion with 15 spf.
It is very confusion b/c Eucerin has 3 Q10 creme/cream formulations in jars in the US, however, only this one is free of actives other than the Q10. The others, last I checked, all has retinol or retinyl palmitate. There are also versions outside the US. Also, most of them contain the words 'facial', 'active' or 'night' in the name of the product, this one does not.
Just to clarify;) 18 out of 21 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Perfection In a blind viewing test, my sister, my friends, and my daughters carpool buddies picked the eye on which i'd put the l'oreal lash out *over* the eye on which i'd put the lash perfection. I did it a few days in a row just to make sure - switching eyes. There was no question. It was Lash Out every time.
After reading the rave reviews, I haaaad to get some Lash Perfection. There were only two boxes left at Target so I bought both - i didn't want to fall in love and not be able to find it.
Honestly, I don't get the hype. I love the brush but don't find the mascara itself to be 'all that'. It does make my lashes very long, but they're already long. I just need a little length and a little volume with no clumps/flakes. This did make the tiniest little clumps occasionally, but i'm a lash perfectionist and found it unacceptable. My holygral, LashOut waterproof, doesn't leave me with any clumps ever. And by the end of the day, it was indeed flaking...not a lot, not as much as most masacaras but more than is acceptable to me.
I've passed it onto a friend with thick, short lashes and she looooves it. gives her the length she's always trying for but without any additional thickness which she definitely doesn't need. For with already longish, straighish lashes who just want true lash perfection: use a good lash curler then L'Oreal Lash Out Waterproof.
Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Lip Treatments -Neutrogena - Lip nutrition - passionfruit boosting balm [DISCONTINUED] Absolutely positively cannot live without this stuff. It was a random impulse purchase at target for either $5 or $6. It's lasted me so far 6 mo and is only about half gone - and i use it many times per day applied with either my finger or my little l'oreal lipbrush.
it's a clear barely red tinted gloss that's just the right combo between silky, slippery and sticky. i apply it very minimally. no one would ever guess that it's red tinted once it's on me.....totally mlbb. also looks fab over any lipstick that i want to gloss up.
Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Treatments -La Roche Posay - Active C Light Texture for Normal to Combination Skin While it does have fragrance, it's been tolerated by my ascorbic-acid-sensitive skin very well. The fragrance is nice and light and reminds me of many of the lancome scents (same parent company: Cosmair). I haven't noticed any results specifically from it, but i'm not in it for immediate results: i consider it like retinoids and sunscreen to be a long term investment. The three most important things you can do for your skin over the long haul (besides eat lots of nonstarchy veggies) are:
high ppd euro sunscreen, strongest tolerable retinoids and topical antioxidants. LRP Active C is a great place to start for the antioxidants with it's low 5% concentration, good research backing it up, and great, stable formulation. Can't beat the price. Can be found on ebay and beautycenter.co.uk (among other places) 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Sunscreen -Avene - Avene Lait Ecran Extreme SPF 60 White cast? sure it has a white cast. All of the high ppd euro s/s do. But it's *so* easy to deal with the white cast by simply using a drop or three of the Avene 50+ tinted creme. Just mix it in your hand with your blob of the 50+ lait. Voila! perfect tinted sunscreen/foundation. Shine? of course it has a shine. Repeat after me "all of the high ppd european sunscreens do". But that's also easy to deal with: a dusting of coated mineral make up.....or potato starch/arrowroot starch or cornstarch. Some prefer silica. after trying virtually every cheap and expensive US drugstore and department store sunscreen, i was ready to give up. The chemical filters burned my skin. The physical filters were drying - and one of them consistently gave me milia (TiO2). With encouragement from the skincare board and Carol Demas (gdiv of biochemistryofbeauty.com) I continued to slog through european sunscreens, hoping that one day I'd find one tolerable for me. I did. And it was this sunscreen: The Avene Lait 60 SPF, now called Avene Lait 50+ SPF. The SPF speaks only to the UVB protection. Avene lists the UVA protection at 60 as well, though that's likely IPD b/c it's definitely not PPD. Since Avene won't release absorbance spectrum or ppd, the best we can do is guess. Guesstimates on filter percentages and ppd from reliablem, knowledgeable sources put this at about 18-25 ppd. In comparing it to other european sunscreens with known ppd's of 28, i'd say that the ppd of this is definitely close to, if not exactly 25. In side by side split face trials, it protects my face as well as known 28 ppd products - even when i do the avene on the left side, which is exposed to dramatically more UVA b/c of the incredible amount of time i spend in the car.
Anway, onto the product. so i finally find this sunscreen and while i do feel a slight sting upon application if my skin is irritated (retinoids or peels), it's very transient and only upon the first application of the day. With other sunscreens, the sting increases with each application till it becomes intolerable. With this, it's the opposite.....most of the time no noticeable discomfort, but if there is, it's only the first application. No problems wtih my 2nd, 3rd etc. It is heavily fragranced: imagine coppertone plus an overwhelming floral. It was very bothersome at first as i'm extremely sensitive to smells, lights, sounds, touch etc. but suprisingly, it didn't cause dermatitis and i eventually got over the smell. While this very emollient moisturizing sunscreen does cause me milia, they're very effectively dealt with my the nightly use of retinoids. After a lifetime of sensitive skin that couldn't tolerate any thing of the sort, daily use of high ppd sunscreen has changed everything. I can for the first time tolerate, and tolerate well, strong retinoids applied daily; and have now started peels.
The finish is shiny/dewey which isn't bothersome to me. And it is sticky (like all high ppd euro s/s) but again, i just suck it up and deal. I'm thrilled to have the protection. I generally get it from beautycenter.co.uk or beautycenter.fr (same site different language). shipping is free from beautytarget.com but prices are so much higher, that even paying E19 from the former, my overall bill is less. 14 out of 15 people found this review helpful. EDIT: this was for the old, paraben containing formula. I do NOT like the new formula. It's not as moisturizing.
<< Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Treatments (Eye) -Rachel Perry - Hi Potency "E" & Pure Retinol "A" Line Control I love the raspberry smell of this rich, emollient cream which was purchased based on the one other review of it.
It was purchased in the dead of winter in 2004/2005 when my skin was at it's most abnormally, freakishly, unusually dry. Nothing was moisturizing enough for my face except for vaseline and i was trying to move away from that.
It feels rich as it's applied - very emollient - maybe even a bit greasy. Unfortunately for me, it went the way of all of the other cheap and expensive moisturizers i've use: within about an hour, my skin was feeling dry again. And due to the extremely emollient and occlusive nature of the cream, i was forming new milia rapidly. so on the surface it felt greasy and caused milia....but my face was feeling dry and uncomfortable. awful combination. i ended up using it on my kids as an after bath cream. they loved it b/c of the smell.
of everything that i've tried for my dry skin in the winter (cdlm, dior, chanel, EL, prescriptives, origins, mychelle, derma e, oil of olay, aveda etc etc), there are two things i've found to be effective...well three:
1)vaseline (my least favorite)
2)reviva renaissance cream (5% glycolic acid moisturizer....my favorite if my skin's up for the AHA)
3)avalon organincs ultimate moisture cream -what i use if i can't tolerate the glycolic. it does have a strong lavendar smell though. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Moisturizers -Eucerin - Extra Protective Moisture Lotion SPF30 please note that there is also a review for this under moisturizers - where it has many many reviews.....more than 40. Anyway, after using this product for one day, I developed new milia, which happens to me wtih most sunscreens - so i'm done. While I won't use it again, I did like the way it felt and looked on my skin - not irritating in the slightest, nice and dewey/glowy.....and I have *extremly* sensitive skin - many things sting/burn and very few things are moisturizing enough for me - this was. Even though I can't use it, I figured that at least I could use it up on my kids - one of whom has extremely sensitive skin with eczema - the other has no sensitivities whatsoever - or so I thought. anyway, it was great on my sensitive skinned child's face and body, but on the other one it caused on incredible rash covering most of her face. odd. anyway, it's probably great for many people, but didn't work for us...won't buy again. oh, on a different note, i did love the packaging and the pump applicator. it dispensed *just* right.

Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Cleansers -EO - 1 Clean- Virgin Coconut Milk edit:it was too drying for my skin before, but now that i've got great sun protection on board (Avene 60 spf lait or LRP Anthelios Dermo-Pediatrics) my skin has over a two week period, started to move toward a more normal moisture level. I've been using this again and it's been great - very cleansing....more so than typical lotion/cream cleansers....but no longer drying. I use it after my shu uemura enriched cleansing oil to remove the leftover oil/sunscreen.
here's my original review:
While I like many of EO's products, the Virgin Coconut Milk cleanser was disappointing. It's made for dry/mature skin. I'm just 35 but my skin is dry dry freakishly dry. Oddly though, this non-foaminng milky cleanser left it drier. Notably so as soon as I patted dry with a towel.
I also used the toner and moisturizer in the whole dry/mature complex. did nothing for my skin and even moments after the moisture, my skin was left feeling dry. I liked the packaging on the cleanser - a flip top that stays extremely secure yet is easy to open, but unfortuantely I won't be buying again
Considering the ingredients, I can't imagine why my skin would be dry following it's use:
Ingredients: EO Organic Infusion [Purified Water, Organic White Tea (Camellia Sinensis) Leaf, Organic Oat (Avena Sativa) Straw, Organic Sage (Sativa Officinalis) Leaf, Organic St. John's Wort (Hypericum Perforatum), Organic Hibiscus (Hibiscus Sabdariffa) Flower], Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sucrose Cocoate (and) Water (and) SD-40 Alcohol, Glycerin, Cetearyl Olivate (and) Sorbitan Olivate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), EO Essential Oil Blend, Coconut (Coccus Nucifera) Oil, Seabuckthorn (Hippophae Rhamnoides) CO2 Extract, Dog Rose (Rosa Canina) Hip CO2 Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol*, Methylparaben*, Ethylparaben*, Propylparaben*, Butylparaben*.
*Preservative complex (less than 1%) Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Lips -Dr. Hauschka - Lip Care Stick I so want to like the Dr. Hauschka products. However, i've mostly been disappointed by them and this lip care stick was no different.
The packaging is lacking - it's in a lipstick like tube instead of typical chapstick tube and it allows some product to seep between the two cansiters. irritating.
upon initial application, one will note the icky taste and offputting smell......over the course of several days, my lips began to feel dry and develop dehydrated spots where my lip meets my face.
back to the Un-petroleum honey bee chapstick or the cherry (cherry has spf - though not stable)...or one of several neutrogena lip care.
Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Sunscreen -Hawaiian Tropic - Hawaiian Tropic Oil-Free Faces SPF 30, Sheer Reflections Formula [DISCONTINUED] I intially reviewed this as my "HG sunscreen." after using it for about a week. well, about one day after that, I started to cause stinging about an hour after application. i've tested it multiple times to see if it really was the s/s and it was. bummer. I really like the finish (glowly)and the texture (light 'enough')....and no milia
here's the rest of the original review: I'm taking off one lippie only as a stick to HT for not disclosing the percentages of active ingredients and for being so freaking tight with the ingredients - though if you read through the reviews, you'll find that one person was able to finally procure the full ingred list from the company. Bad business though keeping the info secret. As the public becomes more and more savvy about skincare, any company who doesn't fully disclose info will loose customers bottom line.
It's extremely inexpensive, easy to find at the local drugstore, grocery or Target. The pump dispense is acceptable. Not awesome but much better than a squirt top. If you're not careful, it can dispense too much...but used with care it's the neat and clean.
I have to use it under moisture b/c I have ultra dry skin.....but so far, for what it is - sunscreen - it's doing a great job. I love the luminious look it gives my skin (dewey and glowy) - for those looking for a more matt finish, this is not the product you're after.
>>
anyway, even though I had to edit my review, I agree with all of the above, it's just that something in it is irritating my skin and causing significant irritation. however, if you're in the market for a reasonably priced sunscreen, it's worth a go.
:) 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Masks -Aveda - Intensive Hydrating Masque I've not used any other hydrating masque's so can't compare to anyone else. however, I can compare to the dull lifeless mess that my skin was two weeks ago. Nightly, I was loosing ground to the new lines that were forming b/c every smidgeon of moisture was being sucked out of my dry dry driest skin by the forced air central heat. Daily, I could see the changes and felt helpless. Nothing seemed to be moisturizing enough.
On the recommendation of a friend who uses this overnight, I purchased it. Washed my face as I always do with the awesome Reviva Glycolic acid cleanser (no foam, extremely gentle, completely non-drying), used my Oil of Olay Restorative Treatment, Reviva Glycolic Acid 5% moisturizer plus an eye cream, then sealed is all in with this masque. OMG. my skin was moisturized through the whole night (even if a bit sticky/tacky feeling). In the am, I washed it off.....was left with glowing soft skin. Did the same cleansing routine as above, but instead of the OoO treatment, I did my Jason Super-C serums (one for eyes, one for face), my glycolic acid moisturizer, and a sunscreen to top it off.
My skin is holding moisture soooooo much better than it ever has before (the hyaluronic acid in the mask?) and it's absolutely glowing. I'm in love.
oh, lest i forget....it's a clear masque...with a scent not dissimilar to most aveda products. I did feel it slightly warming the first couple of times - which could be the glycerin in it (straight glycerin or high percentages of glycerin will feel warm) or it could have been that I was using it over both a vvvvv mild retinol product (the OoO restorative treatment) and the Reviva 5% renaissance cream. Anyway, while it did warm for a few minutes, it never did feel terribly uncomfortable nor did it burn. The feeling did go away after 10 mins or so....i have slept with the mask on every night for nearly two weeks and have developed no irritation....no redness. It's been allllll good. Will buy again and again. (well, unless I like that Clarins sample better 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful. Was this review helpful to you? Yes No
