Blush -MAC - sunbasque
chubbieecheeks 7/20/2011 7:31:00 PM
This is, hands down, one of my favorite MAC blushes. it is perfect for the summertime when you don't want to pack on a ton of makeup to achieve a natural glow. I don't own any shimmery bronzers, so I can't make a fair comparison. I find myself pairing this blush with a pinky lipgloss during frantic mornings. I look really put together, with minimal effort. You really don't need a heavy hand with this blush, and the color lasts all day. HIGHLY recommend! Reference: MAC nc 25-30.

Polishes -OPI - Monsooner or later
chubbieecheeks 5/27/2011 1:50:00 AM
this is my favorite summertime nail color! it's a super bright and fun red with a hint of orange/coral. using this color is a great way to incorporate the coral/orange trend into the classic red nail polish. overall, you can wear it to the beach, but at the same time, it'll look classy with a little black dress. i have a bunch of OPI polishes, but the formula for this shade is awesome! the color is opaque within one coat (though i always paint two coats), and i did not experience any streaking. LOVE!

Toners -Mario Badescu - Glycolic Acid Toner
chubbieecheeks 5/24/2011 1:13:00 AM
i LOVE this toner! prior to using this toner, i suffered from acne scars on my chin and had a very dull complexion. this toner helped to eliminate any old scarring, and it makes the overall complexion of my face a lot brighter and youthful looking. also, it's not too expensive, making this the perfect product. the one thing that i don't particularly like is that it has a weird smell to it, but it dissippates within a minute. also, the packaging is rather boring. there are no bells and whistles to it, but that's fine with me. i'd rather pay less for a stellar product than pay more for useless packaging. thumbs up from me!

Mascara -Yves Saint Laurent - Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils
chubbieecheeks 12/8/2010 12:45:00 AM
This is by no means a bad mascara. Contrary to other's reviews, this mascara does not make my lashes clumpy, no matter how many coats I apply. It lengthens my lashes nicely, and my stick straight Asian lashes stay curled throughout the day. So why only 3 lippies? - Though it's a nice mascara that truly delivers length, it has the same effect as my drugstore mascaras. If I had never experimented with d/s mascaras, I'd happily fork over $30.. but I know that there's better (and cheaper!) alternatives out there. - I found the formula to be very drying. I initially had trouble getting the product onto my wand, and I heard from other friends that the mascara needs to be replaced every 2-3 months? For a person like me that doesn't wear a full face of makeup on the daily (and that includes mascara), it's totally not worth it.

Blush -Stila - Petunia Convertible Color
chubbieecheeks 12/1/2010 2:30:00 AM
This is one of my favorite makeup products that I carry in my makeup bag. It's cute, compact, and multi-functional. I use this to touch up throughout the day. It really livens up my face and adds the perfect shade of baby pink to my cheeks (for reference, I'm a NC30). I also use this on my lips for that baby pink pout; however, I feel that this product is a little drying on my lips. I use chapstick underneath to prevent the color from sinking into the lines on my lips. The one bad thing about it is that it's rather unsanitary to be dipping my fingers into the compact.. I don't like to use a brush because all the little hairs and lint gets trapped in the compact.. and it's gross. Other than that, I like!

Treatments -Mario Badescu - Buffering Lotion
chubbieecheeks 12/1/2010 1:22:00 AM
i don't know why it took me so long to review this product-- it's def HG status in my book! For some reason, I get recurring cystic acne at the same spot on both sides of my cheeks.. and whenever I feel it surfacing, I put this over the spot immediately. It takes a couple of days to shrink, and it does not completely make them disappear. it turns into a white head, which can easily be treated. with that being said, I use this product to avoid those huge, painful bumps that cause scarring. It really works! I'm currently on my 3rd bottle, and I can't live without it! I believe it's around $15-17, which is pretty inexpensive compared to cortisone shots at the dermatologist's office. The packaging isn't that great; I find that my product does leak quite a bit when I put it in my travel bag... but I can easily overlook that :)

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Lilac Pastelle 200
chubbieecheeks 11/24/2010 2:22:00 AM
i've always been curious about the purple lip trend, but i didn't want to splurge on high end glosses cuz i wasn't sure if i'd actually use the product. with that being said, this gloss is the way to go! the product is inexpensive, and the packaging is eerily similar to chanel glosses. the texture is great, not sticky or goopy. i find that it looks rather.. blah over my super pigmented lips. i like to pair it over pink lippies with hints of purple; i love it over MAC's viva glam gaga lippie.

Brows -Revlon - Brow Styling Gel
chubbieecheeks 11/16/2010 2:35:00 AM
this product sucks. my brow hairs stay in place, but it flakes like crazy within an hour! my friend thought my brows had dandruff. not cute, not at all. it's not super pricey, but the price pales in comparison to my beloved e.l.f brow/lash gel ($1) would not repurchase.

Treatments (Eye) -Skyn Iceland - Icelandic Relief Eye Cream with Biospheric Complex

I'm honestly appalled by the high ratings for this product. It does absolutely nothing for my dark under eye circles or under eye bags. Can somebody tell me if I should be using this 2x a day, instead of 1x?

Polishes -OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark Suede
chubbieecheeks 10/10/2010 1:03:00 AM
OK ladies, let me break it down. The quality of OPI's matte polishes are, for a lack of a better word, sucky. I agree with the previous reviews-- the polishes WILL chip within a day or two, no matter the number of coats applied. However, I painted only one coat of LAPDS above my Sephora by OPI Metro Chic, and it's still in perfect condition.. no chips or anything! (fyi, I'm on day #5). The instructions suggests to avoid top coats, base coats, hand lotions, blah blah.. but I broke all the rules and couldn't be happier :) fyi: the color is gorgeous!!! It's a flat, but shiny metallic mid tone purple with silver shimmers. I normally steer clear of anything glittery or shimmery, but this is a must try!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Waterproof
chubbieecheeks 9/18/2009 10:03:00 PM
EDIT: as years went by, i had the chance to experiment with other mascaras. i finally picked up another tube of lash blast because i remember loving this mascara. i still like it, but i am not as impressed as i once was. i personally found the formula to be a bit drying. the only positive attribute is that it holds my curl all day. it does not lengthen or volumize my lashes particularly well. also, the wand is waaaay too huge for my asian eyes (tiny fold/crease). this product will be good for somebody with naturally thick lashes. i'll stick to my maybelline the falsies. i am SO unbelievably in love with this product....!!! i have long, but very thin asian lashes that are a nightmare to curl (thank goodness for my shu uemura!), and to top that off, my curls never stay! prior to this, i've been using shiseido's lash lifting mascara (A+ mascara); however, the price is a little steep for my liking. thanks to YT gurus, i've been led to lash blast. it delivers the same results as my shiseido mascara, at a fraction of the price. it keeps my lashes curled all day, and they look so soft and thick! i can see how the super thick wand can be annoying, but it's really not so bad. this is a must try!

Eye Shadow -NYX - Eyeshadow *ES18 Sahara

I love this eyeshadow! I find myself using this everyday as a highlighter. It's simple, basic, no fuss no muss. It's a must have!! This is a good dupe for MAC's ricepaper or naked lunch, imo. I purchased it for about $2.50 on cherryculture.com

Makeup Brushes -MAC - # 239 Eye Shader Brush
chubbieecheeks 12/22/2008 3:04:00 PM
OK.. I used to be one othose girls that cringe at the sight of an expensive MAC brush.. aren't all brushes the same?! But after countless times of scraping my beloved MAC shadows, convinced that I needed to pack more product onto my eyes (and failing everytime!), I knew I needed to try one of these brushes. OMG... I'm in love! The 239 packs on color like a dream, is fabulous at blending along my lid (I love the gradient effect!), and never loses its shape (even after multiple waashes!). Also, all I need for an intense lid color is one simple swipe from my shadow pot. :) I know, I know, the brush is ridiculously expensive.. but it's worth every penny. Trust me. A brush, if properly taken care of, can last years!

Treatments -Clearasil - Pore Cleansing Pads
chubbieecheeks 9/17/2008 7:29:00 PM
Due to stress, I started breaking out all over my forehead and my chin. My Boscia cleanser has always been blah but kept the large pimples at bay, but after my stress rage, I needed to find something-- quick. I went on a rampage to find those Noxzema pads that I used to use, but this was the only alternative I could find at 3AM. I bought these, and I actually love them more than the Noxzema pads! These, for one, don't reek of alcohol (alcohol, however, is pretty high up in the ingredients list). Also, I haven't had a major breakout since. Bravo. This is great for emergencies, when necessary. -1 lippie because of the excessive amounts of alcoho. But like I said, only use during an emergency because it WILL get rid of your pimples!

Blush -Jane - Blushing Plum
chubbieecheeks 8/6/2008 1:52:00 PM
this blush is great! As I mentioned in my other Jane blush reviews, Jane blushes are VERY inexpensive (especially during the BOGO sales), high- quality (comparable to high end brands), and comes in a wide range of colors. I love Blushing plum when i have "down days".. aka a thin eyeliner and concealer. This vibrant blush instantly gives my face a pop without looking like a clown. I like to put shimmery loose powder over it for a subtle glowing effect. Awesome all around.
