Cleansers -HABA - Oil Cleansing

This is probably my favourite HABA face product at the moment. All HABA face products contain sqalane, and as I have reviewed on HABA VC lotion, HABA products are better suited for dryer skin. Squalane on oiler/combination skin may cause breakouts due to the build up of squalane peroxide. However, this oil cleanser very effectively removes tough makeup quickly without drying up the skin. To use it, place about half a teaspoon amount on face and massage, then rinse thoroughly. Although it claims you need not use any cleansing product after it, I prefer to finish off with a toner to close up the pores. It does not worsen acne problems for me because unlike other HABA moisturisers, HABA oil cleansing does not stay long on the face before it is washed out. Good purchase because it is cleasnes effectively and quickly, yet gentle on face.

Toners -SKII - Facial Treatment Essence

I have been using this essence for several weeks. I like it for being a light water-based toner that hydrates my combination skin without any residue on my face. I feel that my skin is clearer and more hydrated. However, I don't find it doing any miracles for my face that it claims: radiance, whitening etc. Infact, it seems like an over-priced yet slightly above average toner! But I indeed see it work on my friend whose face became brighter, more supple and lessened outbreaks. It could be that I am using this essence with other products. Anyway, I am willing to believe that it will improve my skin if I use it with other SKII products. I am considering buying other SKII products samples to try on first and will update the review again.

Moisturizers -HABA - VC-Lotion

To be on a fair side, this is a good moisturiser if the user rather dry skin, This is because of the higher squalane content in this product. Squalane is a chemical produced in our skin to keep our skin moist, however, it decreases in production as we age. Hence squalane is good for dry skin. However, in oilier skins, squalane quickly becomes squalane oxide, which makes skin even oilier and may cause acne breakouts. This is unfortunately true for me: I use White Lady, VC lotion, oil cleanser and squa dew all from HABA, and I am still recovering from the breakout after using them for 3 months. You may want to think twice about these products, but again, you probably can't tell whether they work or not until a few months later. It's just another thing to gamble on!

Mascara -Kose - Beaute de Kose Volume Mascara

This mascara has a few attractive points. It can really lengthen and thicken eye lashes, about twice as long, with the help of eyelash curler. It is true to the color you see and if you apply it between the each coat carefully enough, the eye lashes do not clump together (with one condition: within three mths of usage). However, one main disadvantage is that it is not waterproof. If you live in a hot, humid weather, the mascara can melt a bit and cause dark circles around the eye area. It is not obvious, but you have to dab it away. Another disadvantage is that it is too pricey. From the reviews I read from this website, I think I will try my luck with one of the giants in mascaras: MAC, Shu Umura, Lancome or Chanel.

Concealers -Ettusais - Medicated Acne Concealer (Oil Free)

The only thing that attracted me to buy this product is because it is probably the only brand that I know, that offers concealer for acne skin. It is as good as it claims, in the sense that it does not irritate or aggravate the ance skin. In addition, it has good coverage. The only problem I have with product is that when used with its oil-free compact, it runs and turns slightly patchy. I cannot pinpoint whether the fault lies in the concealer of the oil-free pact, but the concealer is a bit runny and lacks ultimate smoothness. However, one tube does last a long time; as long as 3 oil-free pacts!

Blush -I Nuovi - hyperbolic

This product is really unique. Just by the appearance, you could tell that it has intense color and complementing shimmer, and you will want to try on. Hyperbolic is a refreshing orange color with pinkish base, so it compliments my yellow-based skin color very well. After applying it, I feel I have a very natural blush and youthful looking demeanor. Its shimmer is slight so that you skin lit up in the light but does not show when people look at you straight on. It is long-lasting (more than 8 hours) too. For such an affordable price, this is really worth purchasing. The result it gives are comparable to M.A.C. The only problem with this blush is that you need a bigger brush and good technique. The powder come off very easily out of the eyeshadow cake and stays on very stubbornly when applied to skin. You have to be careful not to waste it and also to spread it evenly on your cheeks with the big blush. Otherwise, you will look as though you have been pinched at several places on your face!

Eye Shadow -I Nuovi - Pressed Wet/Dry Colour Pigment D27 Eyeshadows (All Colors)

The I Nuovi eyeshadow I had is named Galaxy, which is greenish blue in color. It has some slight shimmer too. When I put on the eyeshadow, I do get the color I see. It stays true and its very lasting (usually more than 8 hours). However, it does not come with a brush and blending with the finger is tricky because eyeshadow adheres rather strongly to the skin when applied. Another disadvantage is that the eyeshadow is a bit like loose powder, that is, the eyeshadow becomes disintegrated in the bottle when you shake a little harder or brush on a little vigorously. Despite these two weaknesses, it does give the desired result at a rather affordable price.

Masks -Neutrogena - Oil-Absorbing Acne Mask

I use this product occasionally when I feel that my skin is greasier than usual. The mask is easy to apply and dries up rather quickly. After washing it off, the skin feels refreshed and cleaner, as though it has been deeply-cleansed. It is also inexpensive. However, I feel that it is only a quick fixer that provides immediate results to remove facial oil but does not improve the skin's ance condition in the long run. It will not be very useful it you are thinking of using it to cure acne. If you really want to solve the ance problem, I sincerest advice is to see a dermacologist and go on tablets like skin antibiotics or roaccutane.

Eyeliner -Chanel - Automatic Liquid Eyeliner

I seldom indulge in eye makeup previously because eye makeup is the trickest and the most cumbersome, especially for a klutz like me! I once bought a Bonjois eyeliner which I cannot handle at all and eventually gave it away after only one single failed attempt. It took me really some courage to buy another liquid eyeliner again. I find my luck in Chanel's Automatic Liquid Eyeliner. It is sheer black, waterproof, lasting (an average of 8 hours) and the best part: it is easy to apply even for a newbie like me. The reason I did not give it a perfect five rating is that it is only the second liquid eyeliner I have ever used. Otherwise, I have no reason not to. As its name implies, it has some kind of a gauge inside the liner. Just before you apply, you turn the other end of the liner by one gradation (which is fixed), so that exactly the right amount of liquid will flow to the slim nylon tip to paint your eye area. Each eye needs about 2 to 3 gradation. I like to start applying in the middle of the eye area, so that I can achieve a sculptured, artful front and tip of the eye area. If you like it shiny, you can dust just a little silver powder on it. It looks beautifully shimmery.

Liquid -Chanel - Double Perfection Fluide [DISCONTINUED]

I find this foundation fantastic! For combination skin like mine (that feels greasy in 15 to 30 min), this foundation offers oil control without compromising on giving the face the smooth healthy glow. In fact ,it smoothens out the face with some hydrating effect so that you feel like the skin is "plump up" and evens out the skin tone. It provides medium coverage. Personally, I think it works best after putting on my usual face moisturizer, then apply the foundation by blending with the fingers. Afterwards, I put on concealer and dust off with loose powder. The overall finish is very flattering and quite lasting, about 8 hours on average. Not only does the it stays on, it does not oxidise easily, so the skin will not turn dull. It is quite expensive but it is worth it. The only weakness is that the foundation comes out of a hole and there is no pumper, you have to be careful not to waste it. It does not work well with sponge either, because its light texture sinks too easily into the sponge. One last word: I like it so much that I hated to take it off! :)

Lipstick -Maybelline - Water Shine Diamonds

Mine is in the shade "Pink Lollipop". This lipstick feels smooth when applied and keeps lips rather moist. It does have a silvery sheen, but thin in colour. Definitely not lasting. Good to use on casual days, but spare it on dates!

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash

If your face is not too sensitive, this facial wash does indeed cleanses your face quite thoroughly in just a small amount. It is suprisingly tough on heavy make up and even waterproof mascaras! It does not seem to control acne however. For me, it is better being a daily wash.

Masks -St. Ives - Peel-Off Hydroxy Masque [DISCONTINUED]

This mask is rather mild and peel off only the outermost surface of the skin.It cannot remove deep impurties. I think it is best used when you do not have skin problems but needed only to maintain your complexion. It can also be used as a light exfoliator between heavier masks or facial treatments.

Polishes -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Nail Lacquer

I had the one in Berry Fizz. It has a rather rich juicy pink colour in a pool of golden shimmer. Glides on smoothly on the nails.However, this nail polish cannot keep for long. Thickens and become greenish! Think it is for those who are sensitive to beauty and do not mind having them even for a moment.
