Hair -Unlisted Brand - Prell Rinse Clean Shampoo

Like many have mentioned, I came by Prell for the express purpose of lifting some color from an ill-advised at home hair coloring experience. The color had come out too dark, and when I called my hair stylist for advice I was told to try shampooing with Prell. After some internet research, I wound up using the Prell as a mask for about 45 minutes applied and combed through dry hair (ouch!) Well, it definitely lifted color, when i finally rinsed quite a lot of dye went down the drain-it looks like it may have lifted 5-10% of the color-(this was done within 48 hours of the original applicaton). Probably not a great shampoo to use on a regular basis, and certainly not on color treated hair unless you are actually wanting to strip your color. I could see using on a very occasional basis to "clarify" and deal with extreme greasies. But this one application left my hair feeling like straw even after a subsequent hot oil treatment and conditioning treatment followed. And boy, does that scent linger in the hair! I wouldn't buy this product again mainly because one bottle should last me a lifetime-and I also don't plan on repeating a home coloring project ever again!

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Colorburst (All colors)

Found these little gems at the drugstore over the summer-purchased in #014 Rosepearl and one other shade who's name escapes me (a sheer peachy-pink shade). Rosepearl gets a lot of wear, it really is a very good drugstore dupe of the Chanel Glossimer in Pagoda, and/or Unity-a soft bronzey rose shade with shimmer. It's actually got decent coverage and staying power, and I find the texture similar to the old Dior Creme de Gloss lip glosses, which were really sort of like liquid lipsticks. The peachy shade I purchased, however, was much thinner consistency and didn't have the color payoff or lasting power of Rosepearl, so your mileage may vary between shade selections. Definately worth a try regardless, since they won't set you back to far.

Mascara -L'Oreal - Waterproof Voluminous Carbon Black

Dreadful stuff. Clumpy as all get out, then it smudges under your eyes? What the hell? How does a supposedly waterproof mascara SMUDGE? I have non-waterproof mascaras that perform better...and worse than that once it smudges under your eyes and leaves you looking like you lost a fight, you can't get the smudge off! Bizarre. I bought this when I was out of town for a funeral...I was stuck without waterproof mascara, and thought I might need it. I needn't have bothered as I wound up with raccoon eyes anyway. And I no longer have the packaging or I'd have returned it.

Gels/Soaps -Chanel - Coco Mademoiselle Shower Gel

Great fragranced shower gel. Very good representation of the original fragrance, and the scent lasts on the skin. You almost don't need to use the perfume after showering with this! I didn't find it drying either. Worth splurging on.

Polishes -Essie - Mademoiselle

Perfect transparent milky pink shade for a natural manicure. I have bought OPI Bubble Bath in the past, but I happened to buy this Essie shade just because the shop I happened to be in didn't carry OPI. Very nice color. Works well with my pale/neutral coloring, neither to warm nor too cool a pink shade. Good alternate to Bubble Bath. If you want an opaque milky pink, this is not it. You'd probably have to apply 4 or 5 coats to come anywhere near opaque. This is meant to be transparent for a natural or French manicure. 1 or 2 coats of this is perfect for a natural nail look-my naturally white tips show through and aren't made too pink.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Caresse Lipstick
rated 4 of 5
chloie9 7/23/2012 5:00:00 PM

I purchased this product on impulse at CVS-I happened to be wearing a fuchsia top, and chose Velvety Fuchsia #173, without knowing much about the product, other than assuming it was probably a knock-off of the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks. And that is exactly what it is, for a fraction of the price. Similar texture, great color (there is nothing like this fuchsia shade in the Rouge Coco Shine line) with similar results. Might be slightly less moisturizing than the Chanel product. It seems like it "sets" on the lips much like the Chanel too. I will have to see how it wears, but so far, so good.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco Shine #63 Rebelle
rated 5 of 5

Beautiful, vibrant coral-red shade. Sheer formulation, but buildable. I have three Rouge Coco Shines now and still want more. This is a very flattering, vibrant red shade on my fair skin. Makes me feel like a J Crew model with their bright punchy orangey-red lips, worn with just mascara and a bit of neutral blush.

Lipstick -Chanel - Hydrabase Creme Lipstick- Pink Sugar

Such a gorgeous lipstick. Great, wearable shimmery mauvey/plummy/rose shade for a fair/hazel/brunette. Now discontinued, but try L'oreal Color Riche lipstick in Sugar Plum for a good dup.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Sugar Plum

Perfect plummy rose shade...subtle golden shimmer and nice creamy texture. Gives a nice natural lip look for me...very easy go-to shade. I find it very similar to another favorite lipstick of mine, the now discontinued Chanel Hydrabase in Pink Sugar. If you loved that shade, you will love this. The texture of course isn't quite as good as the Chanel, but for $9.00 it does a good job.

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - 409 Tropical Light
rated 5 of 5
chloie9 7/1/2011 2:16:00 PM

Another stunning Dior eyeshadow palette-all very wearable colors that combine beautifully together. Great for hazel eyes. Silky, creamy textured shadows that you can wear in many combinations. I did not find this overly shimmery/frosty (I'm 40). looks great paired with soft peach or pink cheeks and lips. Wonderful for spring, summer and beyond. Yes it's pricey, but you will find that you get a beautiful product for your money.

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - Rosy Nude Eyeshadow Palette

This is a wonderful palette for summertime-very easy to use, all the colors work together and look so pretty on my light, neutral toned skin. I didn't find it overly frosty/shimmery and the consistency of the eyeshadows is silky, almost creamy. Try this palette, it's gorgeous, and worth the high price.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Irreelle Duo in Orient-Express
rated 5 of 5
chloie9 7/30/2010 1:15:00 PM

Stunning color combination for green or hazel eyes-I am fair/medium with brown hair and hazel eyes and these shades (soft pink, purple) really bring out the green in my eyes. I like to wear this with Chanel's Berry liner for a soft purple smokey eye-as mentioned in the previous review this was the eyeshadow used in Natalie Portman's 2009 Oscar look (with a pink Rodarte dress) and it worked beautifully with her brown eyes too...the quality of these shadows are superb and if I am not mistaken these Irreelle duos are soon to be discontinued, so if you want this duo don't wait on it. http://www.temptalia.com/natalie-portman-oscars-2009-beauty-breakdown

great product, great color. like this for when i want something that's not gloss, but not lipstick either...something casual and natural looking. The minty flavor is great , the texture is nice and the color is pretty and natural....reminiscent of Clinique's Black Honey but a touch pinker/warmer...the name is deceiving however as i really detect no shimmer in this at all...I need to try more of these!

Powder -Chanel - Double Perfection Compact
rated 5 of 5
chloie9 6/18/2009 11:41:00 AM

beautiful, flawless product that makes my skin look just that-beautiful and flawless. I've been a Lancome powder foundation user for years (Lancome Dual Finish) and while I've been happy with it, lately I couldn't find a very good color match and it seemed to go oily on me around midday-decided to give the Chanel product a try as I've been so pleased with all my other Chanel purchases. this is a lovely, finely milled powder foundation that does provide coverage and has a gorgeous finish. color match is actually Light Beige (3.0) even though I wear Cendre/Shell (1.5) in all their foundations....the 1.5 in the compact was too pale/ivory however. will update if I have any issues but so far I am loving this powder.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Hydrabase Magnolia Rose
rated 5 of 5
chloie9 6/8/2009 12:09:00 PM

beautiful warm rose shade infused with golden shimmer...nothing over the top just gives the lips some dimension. it's a very pretty summery rose shade and is like Morning Rose Hydrabase's warmer rose cousin...the usual wonderful and moisturizing Rouge Hydrabase formula texture and wear....I find these to be the longest lasting of the Chanel lipstick line. This shade pairs beautifully with Iris glossimer on top. This lipstick is a no-brainer for an easy, natural rosey lip shade.
