Loose Powders -Coty - Airspun face powder
chimera59 5/4/2013 9:40:00 AM
This is a great powder for setting your makeup. I have the older packaging and have used it every day for nearly two years and it barely has a dent in it. The packaging is elegant and looks vintage (considering it hasn't changed much in 60 years or so, which is great). The power blurs pores and minimizes shine. I use a large brush to dust this over my entire face and underneath my eyes with a smaller brush, and am usually shine-free for the remainder of the day. The price is a steal and I would buy this again. To me, this totally negates the need to spend money on a more expensive drugstore powder.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco Chintz
chimera59 3/2/2012 7:25:00 PM
This is one of my favorite Rouge Coco shades from Chanel. This is light pink/peach cream shade. On my skin (fair/neutral) it tends to pull more pink but can look peachier if I use a more neutral lipliner like Lancome Bronzelle. I typically get 4-5 hours of wear from the Rouge Coco line. Great for a sixties look with winged black liner.

Polishes -Revlon - Craving Coral
chimera59 3/2/2012 7:21:00 PM
I bought this bright, orange-coral cream after wanting to replicate some of the nail polish shades on Mad Men. This is a beautiful color and is opaque in two coats. I used the with Revlon basecoat and Seche Vite and it lasted five days before any chips became apparent. Revlon polishes have a great formula and this is a great shade if you're looking for something retro.

Top/Base Coats -Revlon - quick dry base coat
chimera59 7/24/2011 12:58:00 PM
Great product! I have always had issues with nail polish peeling off in sheets the day or the day after I apply it, and manicures never last on me. I bought this at Ulta and am amazed. I just removed a manicure I had on for five days with no chips, only normal tip wear. I highly recommend this base coat if you have problems with polish chipping normally.

Mascara -Revlon - Grow Luscious - waterproof
chimera59 6/7/2011 8:11:00 AM
I paid a little over $9 for this mascara at CVS. I normally use The Falsies waterproof but I thought I'd try this one. This mascara applied very thickly and it seemed like a drier formula-it was hard to get it on the ends of my lashes. The brush itself is huge and clumps the formula as you are applying the mascara. It started flaking and smearing immediately and there is not much left of this at the end of the day. This is not a good formula and I am disappointed because I had read good reviews about the original formula. Would not recommend this mascara.

Polishes -OPI - I Juggle...Men
chimera59 5/10/2011 10:23:00 AM
I bought this color, from the Femme Du Cirque collections, because I wanted to use it as a pretty irridescent topcoat. Yesterday evening I applied this over a basecoat after preparing my nails. I used three coats. Today when I got up I took a shower and afterwards I, like the other reviewers below, noticed cracks forming. Huge pieces of polish started chipping off my nails and three hours later most of the polish is gone. This one will be going back to Ulta. Usually I don't have this problem with OPI.

Eye Shadow -Shiseido - silky eye shadow quad - flora and fauna Q3
chimera59 2/1/2011 7:51:00 PM
This quad contains 4 colors: a lime green, a light gold, a forest green, and a coral, all of which contain substantial shimmer. Shiseido's eyeshadows are truly "silky" and blend beautifully on the lids. I used every color except the coral for a green and gold look and everything applied smoothly and blended well. However, the shadows could last longer. The packaging is great and very classy. I have these quads in several other colors. Shiseido shadows seems to last longer when the colors are darker, for some reason. I might try these over a colored base (I used UDPP) to intensify the color.

Eye Shadow -Shiseido - Hydro-powder Eye Shadow in Rose Tulle H11
chimera59 2/1/2011 7:45:00 PM
I love Hydro-powder shadows and this is probably my 6th or 7th one. This is a beautiful baby pink in the pot. It applies smoothly with fingertips or a brush and feels very silky on the lids. This formula dries to a powder and does not budge. I used this today all over the lid with a taupe in the crease and black liner. When I was applying it this morning with a brush I did not realize how sparkly it was-until I went out in the sun. The formula for this particular shade has a burst of sparkles that are pink and blue. The base color pink does not show us much, but the sparkles are enough on their own. A little much for day, but this would be great as a "night" look layered with some deeper shadows. I will continue to buy Hydro-powder shadows and I think (judging by the sparse reviews for some Shiseido products) that Shiseido does not get enough love for the wonderful products they produce.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst in Pink Sugar
chimera59 1/28/2011 2:04:00 PM
I already have 8 Colorbursts so I was really excited when I saw they had some new colors. Like another reviewer, I grabbed this one because I saw the color on the cap and I thought it would be a really pretty nude peachy pink and a cream lipstick. I tried it on and was disappointed that it is much more sheer than the other Color Bursts I've tried. The color was pretty and did show up after a few layers, but this lipstick does contain micro silver glitter. I lined and filled in my lips with a nude liner first and it does give a 60's pale lip look. I am just disappointed as I was expecting a full-color cream like the rest of the line. Oh well..it's the first dud out of the nine I've bought so far, and CB is still my absolute favorite DS lipstick line of all time!

Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Liquiline Blast- Violet Voltage
chimera59 1/6/2011 9:07:00 AM
My feelings about this product are just kind of "meh". I loved the commercials and the marketing for these products and I figured they would be kind of like MAC power kohls. I picked up Violet Voltage because I didn't own any other pencils like it. It's just..okay. The color is nice but I figured it would be deeper and more intense than it actually is. Looks great with anything violet or blue based. I wouldn't buy this particular color again but I would try the black or the brown if I ran out and needed a drugstore liner. The packaging is nice and I like the smudge tip on the end.

Skincare - Face -MAC - Fix+
chimera59 1/6/2011 8:59:00 AM
I think this product is amazing. I picked this up at MAC as I was exchanging something else and couldn't figure out what to go. I had read some reviews about this on MUA and wasn't sure. The artist talked me into it, I took it home and misted my face after MU application. This makes my skin look amazing and alive. This would be great for anyone with dry skin that wants more of a glow, especially if you use a setting powder. I do think it makes my makeup last longer and I also like to spritz Fix+ on brushes before using pigments on the eyes, or to use pigments or shadows as liner. I would encourage you to try this if you haven't as it is a great product. I will continue to buy this.

Lipstick -MAC - Hue
chimera59 11/1/2010 2:29:00 PM
I B2M'd for this and love it. This is a very 1960's light nude pink and is a Glaze lipstick. Can apply anywhere without a mirror as this is hard to mess up. This looks great with a smoky eye and a bronze cheek. I have had this for a week and have been wearing it every day since I got it.

Blush -MAC - My Highland Honey (A Tartan Tale Holiday '10)
chimera59 11/1/2010 2:28:00 PM
This, from the new Tartan Tale Holiday Collection, caught my eye as it is a light honey/orange color. This looks fabulous on my pale skin, but I am betting this would also look amazing on the more tanned as well. This is a Satin formula blush and blended well. I set this with Fix+ and it lasted all day. A great, unusual color. Love this!

Eye Shadow -MAC - She Who Dares mineralize shadow duo (Venomous Villains Collection)
chimera59 10/1/2010 8:21:00 PM
This is from the Venemous Villians collection and is freaking GORGEOUS. The colors in this duo are amazing. It's pricey ($21) but you get a huge pan of two different shadows. I used to despise the mineralize shadows from MAC, but these are exceptional and I think they must have improved the formula. The green side is definitely unique and I don't think MAC has ever sold anything like it. The blue is also amazing and the blue definitely shows up as blue, not just a blackened color. I used the green all over the lid, and Club in the crease, and use the blue wet and as a liner blended up into Club. This looked amazing, the colors stayed true and did not budge all day long over UDPP. I love this duo and if you can get your hands on one, buy it!!!

Blush -MAC - Matte Blush - Bite Of An Apple (Venomous Villains)
chimera59 10/1/2010 8:16:00 PM
This was just released with the Venomous Villiams collection. I would describe this as a bright coral pinky blush with a touch of red. I am NC 15-20 and this definitely pulls more pink/coral on me. I applied this with a flat top blush brush and it gives a "true blush" pinched cheeks kind of look, as an earlier reviewer said. I also agree this blush isn't really highly pigmented and for me, was really easy to blend and layer. I'd say this is definitely the best blush out of the collection and would definitely buy this again. The packaging is really cute and is not a sticker, but imprinted. Kind of wish they'd made the black part matte instead of so shiny, though.
