Cleansers -Clinique - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
rated 5 of 5

I will never stray from this product again! It's by far the best makeup remover for me. It's a one-step process. I don't have to use wipes prior to remover - this gets it ALL off.

Eye Makeup Remover -TheBalm - Balms Away Eye Makeup Breakup
rated 2 of 5
cherryjane 9/16/2012 8:26:00 PM

I bought this item because it was on sale and I loved other removing balms (like Clinique Take The Day Off balm). I figured that since I was pleased with my other TheBalm products, this would be of a similarly high quality. I was wrong. I feel like this doesn't wash clean. I use a cleansing wipe and this stuff on my eyes (with a regular, non-waterproof mascara) and I *STILL* get mascara/makeup traces on my lower lids in the morning. I don't want to have to scrub my face to death, since I'm cautious of my aging skin. This product is just a fail. I purchased a new Clinique TTDO balm and I'll probably throw away what's left of this product. I'm disappointed, since TheBalm has so many other wins for me.

Palettes -Unlisted Brand - Z Palette-Large
rated 4 of 5
cherryjane 5/23/2010 9:44:00 AM

I own 5 Z Palettes - 4 large, 1 small. I love depotting my MAC shadows, so this sort of a product was PERFECT for me. I prefer purchasing a product like this, versus making a DIY palette - the overall appearance in the end is much nicer. I had a DIY palette and never reached for it. One of the previous reviewers mentioned that the Z Palettes are not that deep - this is correct. My BeneFit boxed powders are deeper than the Z Palette will accommodate, but I get around this by lining them up in the middle. if you do this, the lid will close. Not ideal, but it works. One minor annoyance - when I've received these in the mail (either from Z Palette themselves or beauty.com), the large palettes seem slightly bowed. This last time I pressed down in the center while it was sitting on the countertop and that seemed to help. This hasn't affected its closing ability, but it's definitely an annoyance. When you pay $20 for an empty palette, you'd hope it'd be perfect. I have yet to pay full price for these, but I am willing to buy them when I can get them on sale. Beauty.com's Friends and Family sale was an excellent time to do this.

Palettes -Unlisted Brand - Z Palette-Small
rated 5 of 5
cherryjane 5/22/2010 11:54:00 PM

I'm a big Z Palette fan and own four large ones. I got the small for traveling purposes. This palette is approximately 3/8" wider than the MAC four pan palette around each edge. I have found that you can do the following combinations: 2 MAC blushes, 2 MAC e/s 1 MAC blush, 5 MAC e/s 2 NARS blushes, 3 MAC e/s I would definitely repurchase, if I found that I needed another. The combos listed above would totally work for a weekend out of town for me. Love my Z Palettes!

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple (Real Purity Cleanser)
rated 3 of 5
cherryjane 4/6/2010 4:31:00 PM

This product claims to be a "one-step" product for removing makeup, cleansing skin, etc. This is so far from the truth, please be advised! I always have to use another makeup remover before I use my Purity, otherwise it's not getting my face clean. The scent is fine, nothing overpowering, and has a clinical/clean smell. It's basically just a gentle face wash, and in my opinion, you could easily fine something more suitable at your local drugstore for much less money. I have the 8oz bottle that cost $20 and while it HAS lasted me a long time, there's nothing special about it for me to repurchase. It also doesn't foam much at all and I prefer foaming cleansers.

Eye Shadow -Clinique - Colour Surge Eye Shadow Palette - Brandied Bronze
rated 5 of 5
cherryjane 4/3/2010 6:08:00 PM

Clinique's shadows never disappoint me, yet I don't show them as much love as they deserve. I was initially worried that this palette was too similar to color schemes like UD's Get Baked, with the bronzes and the turquoise. I swatched and bought today, because I was so impressed. The pale gold highlighter color is reminiscent of MAC's Femme Fi and Vanilla pigment. The darker bronze color has a smidge of burgundy in it, so it's not just a dark brown with gold in it. I was initially worried that the purple and pink shadows might be thrown-in colors to make the palette not so warm, but not so! Both colors are warmer tones and would coordinate well with the other colors. The pink color is more pink than Expensive Pink, but has that same sort of feel with the gold undertone. The shadows are pigmented and all of them are shimmery. None are frosty, chunky, no glitter, and they are smooth when applied. This palette is the same size as the colour surge quads, and the shadows are about the same size as the small shadows in the colour surge duos. Overall, I would definitely repurchase (if it weren't LE). This palette offers a lot of colors for numerous looks and they'd all look good together. Great for taking along on a summer vacation!

Palettes -E.L.F. - Elements 4-pan Compact
rated 4 of 5
cherryjane 3/31/2010 12:02:00 PM

Once these became available at Target, I bought one. Totally worth the $1 price tag, no doubt! These fit UD, MAC, and any other 26mm pans. They feel just as sturdy as the MAC palettes and I didn't mind the fact that the lid isn't clear because my MAC shadows are in 15 pan palettes where the lids aren't clear. The only reason I gave it 4 lippies instead of 5 is because of the wasted space from the unused brush. I threw the brush out and didn't even bother with it. Overall, I would definitely buy more of these palettes for my depots!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Rich Life Pigment
rated 4 of 5
cherryjane 2/6/2010 2:40:00 AM

I was very hesitant to embrace the new pigments after re-packaging, being that we're getting less product for the same amount, but I'm a sucker for pigments. I initially only bought the Universal Mix pig from the All Ages, All Races, All Sexes collection, and I wasn't impressed with my swatch of Rich Life on my hand. My first reaction was that it seemed chalky/inconsistent in color, almost like some of the matte shadows do. I passed, but managed to get a sample from the sales associate. I first tried it with my Blue Brown pig on the lid and the result was AWESOME. I do have Chocolate Brown already, but it didn't stand out to me like this shade does. I really like using this shade in the crease or outer V to add some depth to my bronze or brown smokey eyes. I know samples last forever, but after my success with this pigment, I decided to spring for the full size. The glitter in this shade is not obnoxious or overly chunky, it's very subtle. Normally I stay away from silver glitter, but this is not a stand-out silver at all. I typically do a lot of warm looks with my face (NC25-30), so if this is considered cool, I think it's pretty neutral cool. It works well on my skin tone and I was pleased by that discovery!

Tinted Moisturizer -TheBalm - BalmShelter Tinted Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
cherryjane 10/4/2009 1:56:00 PM

I'm surprised at all of the negative reviews of this TM! I love it! I'm NC25-30 and the Light shade is a great match for me. I have been on the hunt for a good TM for a while now - I've tried Stila's Illuminating and I've swatched Laura Mercier. I actually believe that this has a better texture than Laura Mercier. This TM does not have a whitish cast and you can barely smell the sunscreen element. It does not have an overwhelming sunscreen smell at all, like many do. When you first put it on it does not go on streaky nor does it look white/like sunscreen. I've used this consistently for about a week and I was very happy with the results. I would throw on this, some blush, highlighter, and mascara, and had a minimalist look that I was very pleased with. Obviously because this is a TM you're not going to get a huge amount of coverage for acne/redness. I thought it minimized mine just slightly, but I wasn't too preoccupied. Overall, this TM did even out my skin tone, esp. on my eyelids (to reduce the appearance of my veins). I bought this for a holiday trip and I will most definitely be taking it along with me! Very happy!

Lipstick -MAC - Crosswires Cremesheen
rated 5 of 5
cherryjane 5/6/2009 11:51:00 PM

I think this might be my HG coral lipstick! I've always been afraid of corals, but this looks gorgeous on my NC25-30 skin. The color is a pink/coral and like someone else mentioned, does not look orange against my skin. It plays up the warmth in my skin and just looks fantastic. I'd definitely repurchase!

Palettes -Kat Von D - Gypsy Palette [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
cherryjane 5/6/2009 11:45:00 PM

I had really high expectations for this product when I bought it online. I thought it would be a fun, brighter version of Ludwig, which I really liked when I swatched it. When I got the palette I was definitely underwhelmed. Pigmentation was good, they didn't go on chalky or anything, but the whole thing was just too over the top for me. The highlighter color, Hawkwind, had a weird greenish/yellow cast to it, very neon. It looked really unnatural and not flattering on me. Gunner has much larger glitter flecks than the other colors and Lucifer is a matte black that can be used to darken the other colors. This is the only palette that has a cream shadow (Brass Knuckles). I returned this palette the next day because I knew I wouldn't get as much use out of it as I'd like for $34. Individually, the colors are ok, but nothing to squeal over.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 eyeliner in Rockstar
rated 5 of 5
cherryjane 4/13/2009 4:41:00 PM

I used to never wear eyeliner because it was so time consuming to apply and I hated pencil liners - they always tugged and didn't give me a nice, consistent line. Enter the 24/7 liner, my new HG! I can't tell you how much I love these damn liners, even after just using it for only a couple days! These liners are hands down fabulous. Normally I wouldn't have paid $16 for a pencil, but I gladly bought three and I'm looking at acquiring more ASAP. I could definitely see myself using these every day and I NEVER wore liner regularly before. The colors are amazing. Rockstar is a lovely dark purple/eggpant that's not as severe as black and brings out the green in my hazel eyes - something I'm always looking to achieve!

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Midnight Cowboy Rides Again
rated 3 of 5
cherryjane 3/31/2009 4:28:00 PM

Pretty color, but the glitter gets EVERYWHERE! You better want a glittery look when you bust this out, because it's getting all over the place! I stayed in my brush and got me the next day. It's underneath my eyes and all around them. It's a fun shade, just not necessarily what I need for work. I don't know if I'd repurchase this or just go for the regular Midnight Cowboy.

Lipstick -Vincent Longo - Wet Pearl-Crystal Corale
rated 5 of 5
cherryjane 3/28/2009 1:06:00 AM

OMG, this lipstick melts on your lips like butter! Just totally glides on with no hesitation! I got this in the Venus Envy set as well and I'm so glad I took a chance on it and Vincent Longo! Like someone mentioned before, this color is similar to MAC's Sandy B, but less frost IMHO. I've got fair skin, so I think the color is perfect and can't wait to wear the hell out of this shade in the summer time!
