Mascara -Maybelline - The Rocket Volume Express

This mascara is has a very very similar brush to Covergirl Lashblast Volume. It has lots of tiny spikes, and the wand tapers slightly towards the tip. For me, it performed very similarily to lashblast. So, if you like lashblast, give this one a try!

Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation
chefjordan 11/4/2012 3:25:00 PM
I wasn't very blown away by this foundation. For the price, it is nice. It offers good coverage, and 200 soft beige fits my nc20/25 complexion nicely. The main problem I found is that it is very thick, and I find it difficult to spread it across my skin. I've tried flat-top brushes, my fingers, and a damp sponge seems to work the best. The other problem I found was that it never really sets. You really have to powder it, at which point it looks pretty thick and cakey. It does last fairly well on my combination skin, though. For the price (usually 6-8 $CAD), it's worth a shot!

Powder -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Airbrushing Pressed Powder SPF 30
chefjordan 4/17/2012 12:18:00 AM
In love! I find it hard to find a drugstore powder that actually has coverage. Most are just "setting powders" that are very sheer. This one has some coverage. The texture is beautiful, it's almost creamy, not chalky at all, probably because of the Mica. I picked it up in Creamy Natural and it works fine for my NC20-25 skin. On days when i'm in a rush or something like that, i just buff it on and i'm out the door. On normal days, I lightly dush it over my Revlon CS and it's flawless. Highly recommended! PS - i haven't worn it out at night yet, just because of the SPF, so I can't vouch on how it performs in flash photos. Cost me about $13 CDN, but came with a $9 mail-in rebate! :)

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
chefjordan 4/16/2012 1:47:00 PM
The blush seems rather unpigmented to me, and has tons of glitter and shimmer in it. The bronzer is nice because it really is quite deep, although i don't understand why elf would put shimmer in a contouring powder, it barely shows on your face.

Liquid -Neutrogena - Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup SPF 20

Wasn't a fan of this stuff. Heard all the hype and reviews of how it's a good, natural looking, dewy foundation. It just looked extremely cakey on me and unnatural.

Foundations -Perfekt - Skin Perfection Gel

Got a sample from Sephora, it's basically just a tinted primer. It did reduce the look of pores quite nicely, but I wouldn't depend on this alone if you need more than light coverage. I did build it up around the redness on my cheeks, and it didn't look cakey after 5 layers, but even 5 layers didn't even cover my redness. if you're looking for very light coverage and nice, smooth canvas, give this one a go.

Concealers -Coastal Scents - Camo Quad - Medium
chefjordan 3/12/2012 3:02:00 PM
Great concealer quad. I'm an NC20-25 and the second darkest shade works perfectly to cover blemishes. The colours definitely go on lighter than they look. Not greasy at all, works under my eyes or on my face, blends beautifully. Unfortunately, the lid broke off, but that's not a huge deal to me. Definitely recommended!

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
chefjordan 3/4/2012 7:33:00 PM
The absolute best foundation. i try different foundations but always come back to this one for the staying power, finish, and price. One unique thing that I will ALWAYS do is put colorstay on my nose. For some reason, when i blend around my nose with other foundations, it sheers out way too much and i lose the coverage. not with colorstay! ALSO, regarding the "paint" smell. Yes, it absolutely smells like paint, 100%. does that bother me? no! It actually makes me feel better, I feel like companies sometimes prefer making a product smell over nice over performance. Basically, if revlon formulated their foundation and it smells like paint, it's going to stick to your face!

Bronzers -BeneFit Cosmetics - HOOLA
chefjordan 3/4/2012 6:44:00 PM
hands down best bronzer i've ever used for my NC25 skin, and ive been through my fair share. My issue with bronzers is that they are never the right undertone. They're either too red, orangey, or they make me look muddy. This does none of those. Also, contouring has always been a challenge with bronzers. Light bronzers can't build up dark enough, and deep bronzers are too difficult to blend out. This is a medium toned, NEUTRAL bronzer that can easily be used lightly all over, or can be built up for a more dramatic contour. Absolutely in love. If you don't believe me, try out a smaller size in one of BeneFit's kits, and you'll be running out to buy the full size!

Highlighters -Hard Candy - Glow All The Way in Doll Face
chefjordan 3/4/2012 6:30:00 PM
In my opinion, I don't think this is a dupe for Highbeam. Highbeam gives a softer, sheen type of highlight, whereas this is much more "in your face". This is a brighter pink with visible shimmer, and stays pink after blending, while Highbeam is a softer pink without detectable shimmer. It's great if that's what you're looking for, but I'll stick with my highbeam. Also, this has a TON of product in it, I can't see anyone going through the whole thing. I prefer to use this on my arms, legs, declotte (sp?) if i'm going out to the beach or something like that.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Brown
chefjordan 2/29/2012 12:40:00 PM
I got this mascara in the "Legally Bronzed" kit. As a man, I thought this mascara would be good. It tints my blonde lashes enough to make them visible, and lengthens them a bit as well, without adding tons of volume and making them look too obvious. Unfortunately, it clumps fairly easily even when adding just one tiny coat. I probably wouldn't buy this individually, as I've always been a firm believer in drugstore mascaras. Also, the brush is nothing like the badgal black mascara, which is HUGE. This brush is very small and skinny, and I find that the product clumps on it fairly easily. Still worth a shot, though.
