Concealers -Revlon - Skinlights Illusion Wand in Medium Touch
rated 4 of 5
cheezwhiz 4/21/2006 4:17:00 PM

Finally found this at Ulta! It was the last wand in the display. I gave it 4 lippies because while it covers my undereye imperfections, I need to add a bit of moisture so it can look good. All by itself, it dries and makes the undereye area sort of 'crepey'. I have medium olive skin with slightly dark undereye areas. I want to try the luminous one next.

Update: This product is all good. Excellent end result. Use some moisture with it and it will blanket the under eye area without looking like it's there! A++

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Medicated Lip Ointment

This is a staple in my makeup bag. I apply it each morning to my dry lips. It quickly smooths the lip and makes it so dewy and refreshed (thanks to the menthol). Afterwards, my lips are primed for liner and lipgloss or lipstick. A+

Mascara -Max Factor - Lash Perfection
rated 3 of 5
cheezwhiz 3/19/2006 11:26:00 AM

I finally found one in a limited edition box. I love the brush. No clumps. Clean and effective application. It won't be a repurchase because at the end of the day, I have little black flecks of the mascara on my undereye area. Yes, it flakes off the lashes. Why is mascara so tricky? It's always an either/or situation. Either I love the mascara formuation and hate the brush, or, I love the brush and hate the formulation. Oh, well. Maybe the Max Factor brush will fit the tube of L'Oreal Voluminous mascara that I will buy next.

Lip Gloss -Lancome - Star Bronzer Glossy Lip Nectar Or Cuivre
rated 5 of 5

This shade is awesome with the W&W #666 lip pencil. I applied the lip pencil very lightly then, using my lip brush, I smeared the lip gloss all over my lips enough to cover them. The gloss lasted a long time! It did my my lips look pouty. I love it! I also love how the squeeze tube made it so easy to disinfect with rubbing alcohol. I happened to find this brand new tube at my gym. I may just go out and buy one of the other colors!

Mascara -Revlon - Fabulash
rated 2 of 5

The brush is wild. My baby fine lashes can't stand a chance with the wieldy brush! I ended up smearing the mascara over my eyelids. However, when I took the brush from my L'Oreal Voluminous mascara and screwed it into the Revlon tube, it fit! So, now I have the benefit of a washable mascara formula with a decent brush. No repurchase. I wonder if that new Max Factor mascara is any good?

A staple with me from the time I was a baby. I use it to remove eye makeup, moisturize dry spots anywhere (yes, that includes the face without any breakouts!) This is a universally useful product that costs practically nada!

Scrubs -Bath and Body Works - Instant Warmth Gentle Body Scrub - Soothing Vanilla Milk
rated 3 of 5
cheezwhiz 11/22/2005 7:12:00 AM

I love the lingering scent of this product. It's a milky scrub and very thick! The grains are a little larger and not as prevalent compared to other scrubs. I have to really squeeze to get the product out. I noticed that the area that I used the product on was indeed soft after use and I smelled great! I am concerned though as to why my hands got so dry. I'll post a follow-up.

A nice and simple cleanser. It doesn't dry me out too badly.

Treatments (Eye) -Kiehls - Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
rated 5 of 5

I am a repeat customer of this product. It's not a regular occurrence for me to re-purchase a product! I love how this cream hydrates my eye area. I also love how it takes a while for it to sink in. Now, this may be a turn-off to a lot of people, but, the fact that nobody can tell my age tells me that I'm doing the right thing! Using this product is like giving my eye area a big drink of refreshing water.

Treatments -Elizabeth Arden - Eight Hour Cream
rated 5 of 5
cheezwhiz 10/31/2005 9:07:00 PM

A great product for my combo skin. I bought my tube at least 4 years ago and used it off and on. Since I started going to the health club recently and started to use the sauna, I find this to be the best hydrating and non-clogging hydrator for my face and eye area.

I dab a small amount of this around my eyes and cheekbones (they seem to dry up after the steam room!). Also, I mix a dab of this product with the ordinary lotion for my face. This ritual softens the skin on my face nicely. I have to say that this product both soaks into my skin and also sits on top of my skin (thus some shiny spots). I don't mind this because it continually feeds my skin and I don't need to reapply anything else.

So when the rest of the women abandon and abhor the smell or the fact that it's too thick or that it's no better than vaseline, I will continue to use the product!

The scent is medicinal. So what? At least it isn't a cloyingly overbearing fruity floral scent that drives you insane!

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Honey
rated 5 of 5
cheezwhiz 10/29/2005 2:39:00 PM

Each morning, I shampoo my hair with my diluted shampoo (I spritz the 2-in-1 shampoo on). Then, after rinsing the shampoo completely, I squirt my honey water onto my hair and massage it in. I let it soak in and then I rinse it off.

1. I don't follow my regimen up with any other conditioner.
2. I have tried a multitude of other hair care products with marginal satisfaction.
3. After I let my hair air dry, I gently comb my hair.
4. The end result is that I have bouncy, voluminous and shiny hair!

A little background: I have have fine to baby fine hair. Due to stress, I had experienced thinning of hair. Fortunately, I was able to work out a change and remove the stress. My hair began to grow back. My hair grows slowly so I wanted to treat it as gently as possible. This meant no more hair dryer. No more aggressive brushing or combing. Plus, no more combing wet hair! A little bit of sacrafice indeed. I had to abandon the notion of having picture ready hairdo's in the morning.

I'm really liking my hair again! I used plain old brownish honey. I got one of those bottles that has a pointy squirt thing at the end. I added hot water to the brown honey (approx. 1 part honey to 2 parts hot water) and poured it into the special bottle.

The diluted shampoo and honey regimen really seems to agree with me. I don't have dry hair anymore!

Cleansers -Lumene - Moisture Dream Revitalizing Cream Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
cheezwhiz 10/8/2005 6:32:00 PM

This is the very first face wash that has kept my combination skin soft AFTER washing AND has removed by stubborn mascara!

A little of the product goes a long way. I have the small tube but will next purchase the large one.

It is remarkable how this cream wash does such a good job and feels good. Most creams seem to dissipate quickly without properly cleansing. Others leave my skin dry and tight. Or, they just don't strip of the mascara properly while leaving my skin feeling good. This Lumene Moisture Dream cleanser really does a fabulous job. I guess I won't be needing the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser after all! Definite repurchase.

Follow-up: I'm getting a little sick of the scent of the product. Although it's not too strong, in the hot shower, it seems to get overwhelming. I might forego the repurchase since I found the use of vaseline, hot water and m/u pads to be more useful.

Moisturizers -Burt's Bees - Carrot Nutritive Day Creme
rated 4 of 5
cheezwhiz 10/8/2005 6:21:00 PM

I am finding Burt's Bees to be very compatible with my 40 year old combination skin. Thank goodness that the products are priced reasonably AND the company itself is so dedicated to environmental issues. I feel that I'm helping my skin and promoting a great business.

I have and use the Evening Primrose night cream and just recently bought the Carrot Nutritive Day Creme. The scent is fine with me as is the funny color of the product. Again, as with the Primrose creme, this Carrot Day Creme glides ever so nicely on my skin. I really like the end result and the way my skin looks and feels.

Repurchase? Yes.

Skincare - Body -Clarins - Eau Dynamisante Satin Finish Body Oil
rated 5 of 5
cheezwhiz 9/9/2005 7:41:00 AM

Eau Dynamisante Satin Fish Body Oil spray was brought to my attention by a friend that used to work behind the Clarins counter. I had a facial done at the Clarins counter one day, bought some items and included this spray. I love it because I can tackle two things in one action. Both a moisturizer and a scent. The scent lasts all day and is ever so light, fresh and doesn't scream 'harrassment' (if you know what I mean). Perfect for work. Plus, two sprays of the satin-y oil can easily be spread over a large area. Don't need to use a lot. The product soaks in and doesn't leave a icky residue. At $38 per bottle retail, I've been using my spray sparingly. Highly recommended product.
