Scrubs -Unlisted Brand - Premier Mineral Dead Sea Salt Scrub
rated 1 of 5
charmressa 1/8/2013 11:22:00 AM

My mother purchased this for me thinking it would be good for my dry hands, when in fact the product made my skin extremely rashy and dry. It was painful! And, on top of this, she was totally scammed by Premier (the way they usually suck people in to buying their lame products)! They refused to return the product, even though it gave me a terrible rash right before the store manager's very eyes. He told me "oh, that's normal". Rashes and dry patchy skin? NO... it is NOT normal, and neither is this company! Stay away!

Styling Products -TRESemme - Fresh Start Dry Shampoo for Oily/Straight to Normal Hair
rated 1 of 5
charmressa 11/28/2012 11:16:00 AM

Leaves day-old hair feeling oily and like it has not been washed in quite some time. Totally opposite of what a dry shampoo is supposed to do (obviously). I am returning this product back to the store.

Mascara -Physicians Formula - Organic Wear Jumbo Lash Mascara
rated 3 of 5
charmressa 3/1/2012 6:23:00 PM

Pros: Organic, ingredients I can read, is very light and does not weigh down lashes, creates a natural look, wand is recyclable. Cons: Flakes after 6 hours or so, needs retouching with q-tip as applied, formula is a bit dry, price is a bit steep for drugstore brand unless you can find it on sale. Not sure if I will buy this product again.

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Bunny Butt Apothecary - Complexion Zen
rated 3 of 5
charmressa 2/13/2012 11:27:00 AM

Bunny Butt Complexion Zen is my daily moisturizer. It does not cause acne and performs well under makeup. I used to use Lush Skin Drink but could not longer afford it... plus I wanted to support a small business, so I will be sticking with Complexion Zen. Update: I have to store it in the fridge during the summer, I found out. Also, it's not really doing anything... perhaps that is my facial cleanser's fault. Hmm.

Cleansers -LUSH - Ultra Bland
rated 3 of 5
charmressa 12/30/2010 12:46:00 PM

I used to use MAC Cosmetics make up remover wipes but I found that I had to use several sheets to get my face clean, and even then it didn't all come off. I've been using Ultra Bland for about a year now and this stuff is pretty amazing. I smear it all over my face and then I wipe it off gently using a damp cloth. Sometimes I have to put on extra Ultra Bland on my eyes if I've applied my makeup heavily, but what I love about Ultra Bland is that I don't break out after using it. The only problem about this stuff is that it is really expensive. I've bought it three times... and now I'm done with it. At $30/tub, I'd rather use coconut oil or olive oil as a makeup remover. Afterwards, I wash my face with Buche de Noel to get all the makeup off and I apply a light moisturizer (Winter skin regime). In the summer I find that I don't have to wash afterward or moisturize. Depends on where you live... I'm in Calgary, Alberta. It's dry here.

Moisturizers -LUSH - skin drink
rated 4 of 5
charmressa 12/30/2010 12:42:00 PM

My face has been at war with pimples ever since I was a teenager. I have recently discovered that moisturizers & harsh face-washes make my acne very bad. Lush's products are full of essential oils which can cause cystic acne products (in my experience). I've tried Gorgeous, Imperialis and now Skin Drink. Gorgeous was nice, but extremely expensive ($85 for a little tub). Imperialis made my face look like a war zone of pimples ($30 I believe). Skin Drink has been OK so far... nothing major... and my skin looks brighter. Mind you, it's the middle of winter right now in Calgary and my skin gets extremely dry during this time. I'm not so sure that Skin Drink will work the same for me during spring, summer and autumn. We will have to wait and see... I will update this review once I've been using it for longer. I also wanted to point out that if you are acne-prone, it is important that you exfoliate often. Use a face scrub which has very small granules in it and stay away from that drugstore crap. I use Queen Helene product brand (scrub and Mint Julep mask). I've also started using Lush's Buche de Noel face mud cleanser stuff... it has some very un-agitating ingredients which leave your face feeling soft. I use that once in the morning and once in the evening. I also use Lush's Ultra Bland as a makeup remover before using Buche de Noel or any other exfoliating wash. Good luck!

Mascara -Bare Escentuals - buxom lash
rated 1 of 5
charmressa 6/20/2009 4:11:00 PM

This mascara is crap. It started clumping on the brush 4 days after first use, and it was terrible to remove. Raccoon eyes were really bad. Made my lashes dry. Hard to apply because the brush was so large.

Eyeliner -Sephora - Liquid Eyeliner
rated 2 of 5

I just purchased this product last night (Crystal White or something like that). I guess I was fooled. I applied it a few minutes ago and it looks like its cracking all over the place, plus my eyes feel droopy and heavy. Its going back to the store for sure.

Definately works wonders on large pores! It even smoothes out a faint wrinkle I have on my forehead. Its almost creepy it works so well! I wonder whats in this stuff? Who cares! Update: It's silica. Nasty stuff. Clogs pores.

Lip Gloss -Hourglass - Extreme sheen
rated 4 of 5
charmressa 7/12/2008 11:33:00 AM

Got a sample from Sephora a while back and I ended up buying the full tube because the sample was so dinky I used it up in two or three applications. This gloss is not sticky and does not "bunch" as much as Mac Lipglass does.

Lotions/ Creams -Cake Beauty - Cake Walk Foot Cream
rated 5 of 5
charmressa 7/12/2008 11:27:00 AM

I bought this at Sephora along with the hand/good for feet too sugar scrub, and I am never going to pay for a pedicure again! The price of these two products is worth it, especially if you wear flip-flops during the summer and always need a pedicure... do it yourself! Drug store brands do not compare.

Mascara -MAC - Pro Lash
rated 5 of 5

My everyday mascara. Price is worth it compared to inferior drugstore products. Why waste your money and time with drugstore brands when this mascara does it all?

Mascara -Maybelline - XXL volume+length microfiber mascara
rated 1 of 5
charmressa 6/4/2008 1:34:00 PM

My usual mascara is MAC Pro-Lash in Coal Black, and this Maybelline stuff is horrendous. I bought it on a whim at Shoppers Drug Mart (about $11, MAC is about $14) because my last tube of MAC was getting clumpy, but Maybelline's product clumped upon first application! Brand new, right out of the packaging. Talk about crap! Also, the packaging is annoying as hell. The primer is useless. The formula feels like it is already dried out. Back to MAC...

Lip Gloss -Hourglass - Sheen Reflective Lip Gloss
rated 3 of 5
charmressa 6/4/2008 1:30:00 PM

I received a sample of "Imagine" yesterday with my Sephora purchase, and this stuff rocks! I usually use MAC Lipglass, but I will purchase a full tube of "Imagine" once I run out of the tester. I find that after a while, most lipglosses with any sort of sparkle/iridescence to them get gritty, but this one has stayed smooth for hours. Stickiness factor is non-existant. Feels more "firm" that sticky. Update: The longer the product sits in the tube after opening, the "stickier" it gets.
