Eye Shadow -Cargo - Duo ~ Kentucky
charlyne 12/13/2004 4:13:00 PM
This is weird. This is not pearl pink but a greyish lighter smoky green with "pink iridenscence". So sephora is not lying only that pearl pink shimmer shows up when you get really close to the mirror and find out that understated pink shimmer! I think this is really unique and it creates a light smoky look cuz the dark side isn't too dark, but just the right depth for a nice smoky look. It stays on well and long, but creased abit... the size is always like that if you are familiar with cargo's e/s. It's an interesting combination, yet beautiful.

Loose Powders -Becca - Fine Loose Finishing Powder
charlyne 12/9/2004 12:23:00 PM
This is the most natural non chalky powder I've used and suits my skin color well. I have sesame for my NC30 skin. It is a bit drying, using in summer is a delight. I still use it in winter though, only my moisturize has to be heavier. Anyway, nice packaging and a credit to Becca again. Btw, it's super pricy in the UK.

Blush -Sue Devitt - Blush in Katherine
charlyne 12/7/2004 10:51:00 AM
urrr... not too excited about the packaging, but very happy to find a matte blush i like.. Katherine is matte pinky plum compared to my GA powder #6, which is rosier. NARS is too shimmery, GA has very slight shimmer, I always pair SD's blushes for my shimmery eyes, they are silky, subtle, and lasting long. Slightly cool toned, but i believe anyone can nicely pull it off cuz it's very wearable. FYR, I am NC30, asian.

Eye Shadow -Stila - Bohemian Cafe Trio 2002
charlyne 12/7/2004 10:38:00 AM

surprisingly, i shared the same thought with other reviews that these are plummy browns!! not too warm though.... the lightest and darkest shades are cool, the mid is warm. the lightest shade is really chalky and shimmery with very little pink iredence, overall, it is wearable for my NC30 asian skin. I paired the shades with a pinky plummy blush (i used sue devitt- katherine), the look is subtle, littel smoky and sexy... this is very FALL!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Tan
charlyne 10/8/2004 11:08:00 AM
This is a very pretty versatile color that is slightly cool tone in my opnion. I pair it with golden olive, this is just too beautiful to be a very nice lid color... very impressed by MAC pigments so far.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Golden Olive
charlyne 10/8/2004 11:02:00 AM
This is such a beautiful flattering color for my NC30 skin without the white cast I hate from stila e/s.. the right mix of gold and olive green make it a very wearable wash/lid color for me and I often pair/mix it with tan or cocoa beach on the crease, that is such a beautiful color!

Blush -Calvin Klein - Cheek Color Wash
charlyne 10/8/2004 10:00:00 AM
FANTASTIC stuff! I've tried various cream blushes from stick to gel, this is by far my favourite one in the cream to powder category. Compared w/t Nars multiple and GA cream blushes, this one won me over cuz it's slightly dry but very easy to pull off. GA has some unique natural colors but the cream blushes are abit drier than this and have to press real hard to get the color on my finger and on my face. Nars is too shimmery for my taste and even drier than the above both. Color selection wise, GA has the best options while CK is the easiest to pull off with a very natural look (GA is abit matte, CK is glowing, and NARS is super shimmery). Anyway, I'd give it a 5 w/t a little bit nostalgic reason, however it is a very good product.

Makeup Brushes -Paula Dorf - Powder Brush
charlyne 10/4/2004 3:05:00 PM
I own KA and PD powder brush, and this is the right size for loose powder jars, cuz KA seems too big and too dense. Mind you, this brush is EXTREMELY soft and you'll get really addicted to it!!! If you need a fluffy one, this is the one you should go for, and it's not really oversized! it dips into my Becca loose powder jar well!! Paula Dorf's brushes are the best to compete in the market.

Makeup Brushes -NARS - Push Liner Brush 02
charlyne 9/26/2004 6:32:00 PM
$24 for a push brush, might have to hesitate for a while but totally no need for this one. Stila push brush is a BLAH to me cuz it's so stiff and I hate the way it tortures my lids, this is a soft, precise, and yet hard enough to deposit colors. The only drawback is its WHITE HEAD! I can't seem to get the stain off!

Makeup Brushes -Shu Uemura - I.S. Nylon Brush 14 (Synthetic Fiber)
charlyne 9/21/2004 8:29:00 AM
$38 for a super soft synthetic fiber foundation brush, you won't regret. See it here (http://www.shuuemura.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?CategoryID=320&SubCategoryID=371&ProductID=591). However the size is abit small and narrow, and it soft of reminds me of TM's foundation brush. This brush is super soft though. I reckon becuz of it's small size, it's good for angle contouring, and small details. It's smaller than PX's foundation brush definitely and the material is different. Shu's seems to be softer while PX's is bigger and stiffer. If I need a quick make up, I'd go for PX's cuz it's bigger like a paint brush! If I want something to give me luxury feelings, then Shu's the winner of all.

Eye Shadow -Chantecaille - Lemongrass shine eye shade
charlyne 9/17/2004 12:29:00 PM
ok, to the contrary, I have to say this yellowish green color does a good job for me. Probably it's becuz I am yellow toned, this just blends into my skin without being too frosty (not like stila e/s such as kalo). I agree that this is on the yellower side, however, the appropriate shimmer and quality still won me over and I do like this color even it's not that "green". :)

Makeup Brushes -Shu Uemura - Wool Brush #20 (Pony)
charlyne 9/11/2004 11:12:00 AM
Sold at $48 on shu's website (http://www.shuuemura.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?CategoryID=320&SubCategoryID=371&ProductID=592), very expensive for a blush brush, but excellent quality and big enough to shade the entire cheek area for a very nice natural effect. I compared it with my KA powder brush on my face, they are equally soft and gentle, but firm enough to deposit colors. This #20 is good for light to medium blushes, use it with a light hand with an angle for pigmented brushes. This isn't the fluffy kind, round head, but a nice brush to sweep the cheek area with a firm head to target on the apples. Excellent quality. Expensive but won't regret.

Makeup Brushes -Kevyn Aucoin - Essential Five-Piece Brush Collection
charlyne 9/10/2004 10:57:00 AM
To begin with, this five-piece set includes: Contour ($40) Medium eye shadow ($32) Small flat tip eye shadow ($28) Concealer ($24- rediculous) Eyebrow/eyelash ($12) Brush roll ($42) To be honest, I am not super pleased with the eyebrow/eyelash brush and the concealer brush cuz although they are essential, I'd rather they include a powder or blush brush. These two brushes are very basic, so the only good point is the acrylic handle in the signature burgundy color that I love, otherwise nothing spectaculr with these two brushes. You can find reviews for other brushes and the brush roll respectively under the same category, so I just skip this part and this review just to let you know that here's another option if you want to own some KA brushes. This is sold at $150 in Neiman Marcus but strangely I didn't see this set on KA's webiste. You save about $28 only if you go for this set. I think the whole set may be worth more, but the two extra medium eyeshadow brushes are kinda blah to me.

Makeup Brushes -Kevyn Aucoin - Brush Roll
charlyne 9/10/2004 10:45:00 AM
The reason why I give it a 5 is becuz I prefer its compactness and light weight rather than a balky kind of clutch (yes, i mean MAC brush clutch, it is huge for me). I haven't got a MAC brush roll to compare but I do like the pleather material very much, though it's abit filmsy as other reviews say. I have to admit I am very skindeep, part of the reason I love it is because it's KA.

Makeup Brushes -Kevyn Aucoin - Contour Brush
charlyne 9/10/2004 10:31:00 AM
This is the perfect brush for highlighting, not for washing all over the lid. I can't use it as an all over wash brush cuz it's too big in terms of my eyes. It is very soft, dense and round, I use it for highlighting or creating shadows with darker powders and it does a wonderful job with its fluffy head. On KA's website, he gives very good descriptions on how to use this brush, I prefer it to be the highlighting brush becuz it's firm and the right size for what I need.
