Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Angel Eau De Parfum
rated 5 of 5
charlie686 11/9/2011 10:04:00 AM

I started wearing Dream Angels Heavenly back in college when it was first launched... my husband swears it's his favorite, but I have sort of fallen out of favor with it, opting instead for cedar/lemon fragrances (like D&G Light Blue) that have a cleaner, more decidedly androgynous feel to them. I sniffed this new Angel in the catalog and immediately went out to get it! It's clean, but warm (ideal, for me) without being overpowering. Unlike Heavenly, which I start to dislike after the drydown, there is no part of this new Angel that I dislike... the bottle is darling, and I think it's just clean enough for everyday, just sexy enough to keep me from disappearing in front of my husband. Win win!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - EXTRA VIRGIN Coconut Oil (All brands)
rated 5 of 5
charlie686 8/4/2011 9:45:00 AM

Coconut oil is the greatest thing. Ever. I use it for everything - to remove makeup, as a calming, deep cleaning step in my cleansing process, to heal blemishes, to bring blemishes up, to moisturize, to cook with... there's literally nothing this stuff won't do! The last reviewer that said to apply it when you're soaking wet is absolutely right - it soaks in and leaves your skin heavenly smooth, calm, and well nourished. It will "flatten" blemishes overnight, plus if you treat spots with it several times in a day, it speeds up healing like you've never seen! I love it as an alternative to BP (it seems to leave less dryness/redness/scarring, even on tragic blemishes) and it's my go-to whenever I have an odd spot that needs treating (dry, itchy patches, for example, or dry, chapped lips). The key to anyone who has had clogged pores with this - you MUST get the organic, unrefined coconut oil. It's the closest to an actual raw coconut. Any refining process ups the comodogenic factor. My husband and I love it to cook with - plus it tastes AMAZING on toast! Hands down, it is the most amazing thing I've come across - plus if you take it internally (odd texture, but if you like coconuts, it's DELICIOUS) it helps with digestion and internal health! HTH!

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - britney spears CIRCUS FANTASY
rated 4 of 5
charlie686 1/29/2010 8:49:00 AM

Ok so here's a shocker... My husband loves this. ??? I sprayed it as a joke in Target and spent the rest of our trip thinking... yum... and apparently so did my husband. My hubby only likes VS Heavenly, which I've worn since it came out (along with at least every other women I've ever met). So needless to say, I fight with him over what smells good, until we found this tacky blue bottle with plastic crystals stuck to it. We both agree - it smells awesome! It prompted me to take another (sniff) look at BS fragrances, and now I own Believe (I like it, but I'm not as in love with it yet... given time perhaps?) and I may venture back to the original Fantasy or Midnight Fantasy. We'll see.... but for now, don't be thrown off by the ridiculous name - there's nothing circus-y about it. It's just a well-blended mix of fruit, floral and warmth that doesn't knock you over the head. And I have to echo the sentiment that yes, men love themselves something sweet!

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
rated 1 of 5
charlie686 11/12/2008 12:47:00 PM

So I thought I'd be a huge fan of this mostly natural, highly recommended product... except I found out the hard way that mint is really, really irritating. I used this in both its tube and tin form (so cute and kitschy!) only to find my lips raw, peeling, and way worse than just chapped (Thanks Paula from PC.. wish I had read that BEFORE the pain and suffering). I tried the honey balm out of a gift set and like that *MUCH* better. At least the corners of my mouth aren't cracked anymore... OUCH

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Heavenly Kiss
rated 4 of 5
charlie686 6/3/2008 9:53:00 AM

The folks at Victoria's Secret have finally answered my call! As a long-time Heavenly wearer - started when it first came out and I was in college - I always wanted a lighter, more seasonal version since it invariably gets me compliments from men and women. And it's the hubby's favorite. I got so tired of the original I stopped wearing it entirely. WELL.. Then I stumbled into VS and found Heavenly Kiss.... which has rendered all other summery fragrances useless and watery. I don't know much about fragrance layers - I just know that it's intriguing, deep without being overpowering, and smells "heavenly" from first spritz to absolute last-gasp dry down. And that's just the mist! This is what I think "tropical" would smell like... I LOVE IT... can't wait to get the EDP. I sincerely hope they don't discontinue, tho I saw it was a LE. sigh....

Fragrances -Burberry - Burberry Summer (2006 - 2008)
rated 5 of 5
charlie686 5/24/2007 9:45:00 AM

I adore this scent. I wore the original Burberry until my DH let on he didn't like it (very sad day for me!). A friend of mine bought this and after spending the day with her i knew I had to have it! It's got great lasting power on me (I can still smell it at the tail end of my day) and I've gotten a smattering of compliments on it. I'm sad it's a LE - I was told at the Burberry store in Houston that they intend to bring it back next summer, so I'm carefully reserving my current bottle. It's the first perfume purchase I've made where I felt like the $58 was worth every penny.

Mascara -Max Factor - 2000 Calorie Mascara
rated 3 of 5
charlie686 2/14/2007 11:05:00 AM

So I bought this non-waterproof formula because I bought the waterproof before and it irritated my eyes. AND the bad news is, so does this. Which is a huge bummer because even though it's not the most WOW mascara I've ever used (that's Flirt, which smudges like crazy) it didn't budge even after teaching a Spinning class! ARGH! So now I'm back to the drawing board to find a fantastic mascara that pumps my lashes out without flaking (which this one does like mad), smudging during the day or irritating my eyes. sigh.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Breathe Fragrance Mist - Romance
rated 5 of 5
charlie686 10/26/2006 8:25:00 AM

So I've been wearing BBW Breathe Romance for a week, and frankly I want to stock up on it so I never, ever run out. I know it's silly to think a "cheapie" from BBW could be an HG, but it's really starting to feel that way! My best GF said I smelled "really good!" and a male co-worker said I "smelled delicious... no I mean it, absolutely delicious." Just in this short time I've received more compliments on it (even hours after I've applied it, which is better than Dream Angles Heavenly - that disappears almost immediately). Even my mom who is the toughest critic ever said I smelled wonderful. It smells like a quieter, simpler version of Chanel Allure to me (so now I'm completely on the hunt to swap for a bottle of Allure, if anyone wants to contact me!). At first blast it smells divine... then not-so-divine and more like play-doh... but if you hang on for just a few more minutes, the play-doh dissipates and your left with a subtle spicy warm scent that you can smell the entire day. I am in LOVE!!!! And it's so inexpensive! I think I need the body wash next...

Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - Light Blue
rated 5 of 5
charlie686 4/9/2006 1:41:00 PM

What can I say? I've been looking my whole fragrance life for this, and here it is! It suits me in every way - including lasting power. It's fresh but sexy, smells delicious even after an entire day (and a trip to the gym!). I am so happy to say I found my HG - now I just need to load up on every cream, shower gel and other format I can get my hot little hands on! LOVE IT

Fragrances -Chanel - Chance
rated 4 of 5
charlie686 2/1/2006 8:12:00 AM

I actually love chance... but then again, sometimes I can't figure out why. It's a clean, almost masculine scent (which I kind of like, especially to wear to work). DH hasn't commented favorably on it, but then again he rarely mentions anything about fragrances (his fave is VS Heavenly... figures). Fragrance is very much an expression of my mood and environment - I would never wear this to the gym, but I would wear it to a meeting in my office (in light doses, of course). There's something "strong, sophisticated female" about it, which is a trade off from the usual girlie fragrances I go for (VS Heavenly, Pink, DKNY Be Delicious). It has a place in the fragrance wardrobe for Monday meetings or when I need to appear more sophisticated, but other than that...?

Fragrances -Aquolina - Pink Sugar
rated 5 of 5
charlie686 12/30/2005 2:50:00 PM

I think I'm in love. I have no idea why I decided to try this - after getting burned out on heavy orientals (thanks to Prada and Burberry) I was absolutely sticking with citrusy clean scents (VS Pink, Vera Wang). Then along came Pink Sugar - a delectable blend of light, sugary goodness. I never imagined I would crave this like I do... and the yumminess is fun to share because everyone seems to love it! Hubby says it's "not a desirable come get me" smell, but it's definitely nice to smell. Which makes me think maybe I smell like an air freshener, but honestly, I don't care. I love Pink Sugar! EDIT** so my true nature came out - I am neither sugary, nor pink! I had to give this up after a few weeks, and sent it along in a swap to a much happier home. I think it's a little too gimmicky for me- I like fragrances that work in "any" setting (gym, work, out at night, on the beach.... you get the idea) and this wasn't it. This one was too much of a single-profile kinda thing. Oh well! Search goes on!

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Holiday Sweets Marshmallow Whipped Body Cream
rated 5 of 5
charlie686 11/18/2005 12:07:00 PM

This is simply the greatest scent I think I've ever smelled. I love it! I hope A) they don't discontinue it, but it says Holiday Sweets so probably it'll disappear! and B) that they create a line of body sprays because I simply MUST HAVE THIS. It is outrageously delicious, in an edible, sweet and inoffensive way! I think you could wear it anywhere, but be prepared because it is completely foody, with hints of vanilla and carmel. I LOVE IT.

Fragrances -Burberry - Brit
rated 5 of 5
charlie686 11/15/2005 8:24:00 AM

I have to say this is a rare find - not rare in the fragrance sense, but rare in that both my mother and my husband love this fragrance! Both are picky (and opinionated!)... and I was ready to Ebay this away when both of them piped up and told me they thought it smelled great! It IS a safe fragrance, appropriate for all sorts of gatherings and activities... I even wore it to the gym last night. It can be a very solid player in my fragrance wardrobe - it fits nicely in between wearings of VS Heavenly and Pink, my two all-time faves.

Fragrances -Victoria's Secret - Pink Perfume
rated 5 of 5
charlie686 11/7/2005 8:24:00 PM

I have been wearing this fragrance since it first came out - and it will always have a home on my dresser! I am not the pink girlie type, but yet this fragrance imparts a crisp, clean and bright (yet sexy) scent that definitely gets a lot of attention! I highly recommend you try it - wear it and you'll see! It's similar but better than DKNY Be Delicious (which everyone and their sister is wearing!) - it's not that oddly synthetic smell, just crisp, green florals! Enjoy!
